RITCHEY - Bernard F., age 48, of Wall, N.J., died on Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, at home. He was born and raised in Johnstown, Pa., and moved to Wall Township, N.J., 24 years ago. He was a 1975 graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y. He was employed as a chef for 29 years, last employed by The Family Tree Tavern in Wall for 14 years. Previously, he was employed as the executive chef at the Spring Lake Golf Club in Spring Lake, N.J., for nine years. He was a parishioner of St. Denis R.C. Church in Manasquan, N.J. He was a loving husband and a wonderful father. He was a talented musician who had a love of music and an appreciation for the performing arts. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Nancy (Perkins) Ritchey; two sons, Ryan B. and Conor B., both of Wall, N.J.; two daughters, Kaitlin J. and Megan N., also of Wall, N.J.; Catherine (Chessa) Ritchey of Johnstown; three brothers, Paul of Johnstown; David of Pittsburgh; and Ron of Southlake, Texas; a sister, Lois Ritchey of Johnstown; several nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Bob Grieco of Wall, N.J. THOMAS - Roy P., 85, of Greensburg, formerly of Johnstown, died Jan. 27, 2004, in Redstone Highlands in Greensburg. He was born Nov. 25, 1918, in Johnstown, son of the late Ralph C. and Edith B. (Nolte) Thomas. Roy was a retired superintendent of the camera department with The Tribune-Democrat with 44 years of service. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Johnstown; and vice president of the Apartment Association at Redstone Highlands and active with many social activities at Redstone. His hobbies were collecting coins and civil war memorabilia, and he loved to read and enjoyed the music of the Big Bands. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sara Jane (Smith) Thomas; and an infant son, Larry Wayne Thomas. Surviving are daughter, Janie Mahla and husband, Richard of Greensburg; sisters, Mary Schrott and Betty Ruitenberg, both of Johnstown; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, John, on Aug. 10, 1964; sister, Helen; and brothers, Mike, Steve, Andy, Joe, and John. She was a wonderful loving caring mother and will be sadly missed. Survived by her son, Richard J. Squashic of Harrisburg; sisters, Ann Malchesky and Mary Arndt, both of Elyria, Ohio; and brother, George (Viola) Sekerak of Allen Park, Mich.; also brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Dottie Squashic of Harrisburg, the time that they spent together will be precious moments to remember. She was known for her beautiful smile and great personality. She had many wonderful friends and was loved by them all. THOMAS - Roy P., 85, of Greensburg, formerly of Johnstown, died Jan. 27, 2004, in Redstone Highlands in Greensburg. He was born Nov. 25, 1918, in Johnstown, son of the late Ralph C. and Edith B. (Nolte) Thomas. Roy was a retired superintendent of the camera department with The Tribune-Democrat with 44 years of service. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Johnstown; and vice president of the Apartment Association at Redstone Highlands and active with many social activities at Redstone. His hobbies were collecting coins and civil war memorabilia, and he loved to read and enjoyed the music of the Big Bands. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sara Jane (Smith) Thomas; and an infant son, Larry Wayne Thomas. Surviving are daughter, Janie Mahla and husband, Richard of Greensburg; sisters, Mary Schrott and Betty Ruitenberg, both of Johnstown; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 N. Main St., Greensburg, (724) 837-1201. Service will be held at the funeral home Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Kevin Carey officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery. VARNER - Genevieve, 71, Johnstown, died Jan. 29, 2004, at home. Born July 15, 1932, in Johnstown, daughter of Casimir and Julia (Czyrnik) Rajter. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Rayford J. Varner Sr.; and brother, Leo Rajter. Survived by these children: Julia S., wife of Denis P. Michaels, Johnstown; Rayford J. Jr., married to former Kateri Goch, Bedford; and Christine L. Varner, Johnstown; grandchildren: Douglas and Jessice Varner; Julianna, Veronica and Danielle Michaels. Brother of Casimir Rajter Jr., Johnstown. Also survived by dear friend and companion, Andrew Belko Sr., Johnstown. Retired employee of Conemaugh Medical Center (Dietary Dept.) A 1951 graduate of Greater Johnstown High School. VUCKOVICH - Josephine D. "Jo," of Grand Blanc, Mich., age 75, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 2143 South Center Road in Burton, Mich., the Rev. Father David J. Lis officiating. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church. Mrs. Vuckovich will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. She was born on Nov. 2, 1928, in Johnstown. She married Fred Vuckovich on July 24, 1954, in Flint, Mich. She was a member of the Million Dollar Babies Dance Group and St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, where she was the bookkeeper for many years. Surviving are son, David, and wife, Barb Vuckovich and their son, Joshua Vuckovich, all of Swartz Creek, Mich.; daughter, Sandy, and husband, Steve Spankie, of Clarkston, Mich.; uncle, Tom Bladen, Flint, Mich.; aunts, Ruth Mooney, Johnstown; and Zora Filipovich, Grand Blanc, Mich.; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Vuckovich, Nehalem, Ore.; Dorothy Vuckovich, Flint, Mich.; Joyce Vuckovich, Dayton, Ohio; Rosemary Vuckovich, Flint, Mich.; Mary King, Flint, Mich.; and beloved dog, Becky Sue; several cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband, Fred Vuckovich, on Aug. 21, 1979; and parents, Frank and Dorothy Sunseri of Johnstown.
