Betty L. Catherman
Betty L. Catherman, 79, of Pottersdale and formerly of Mill Hall, died on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004 at home, following a very brief illness.
Born in Bellefonte on May 19, 1925, she was the daughter of the late David and Laura (Summers) Hendershot. On Feb. 23, 1945, she married Lott F. Catherman, who died May 17, 2001.
She is survived by four sons, Robert of Milesburg, Benjamin of Howard, Claude William of Mill Hall and Scott Catherman of Pottersdale, and six daughters, Connie Shimp of Mill Hall, Bonnie Neff of Salona, Sally Boone of Lamar, Vickie Duck of Mill Hall, JoAnne Stiner of Philipsburg and Mary Viedorfer of Pottersdale. Also surviving are 28 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren, along with special friends, Shirley and Peter Tennerella, who resided with Betty.
Also surviving are four sisters, Stella Etters of Jacksonville, Ethel Ault of Pleasant Gap, Nancy Ghaner of Wingate and Marie Bowen of West Palm Beach, Fla., along with two brothers, Jerry Hendershot of Wingate and Claude Hendershot of Pleasant Gap.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Catherman; two granddaughters; one grandson; four brothers and two sisters.
She was employed in her earlier years at Erie Tech and Centre Hills Country Club of State College, and the Lock Haven silk mills. Betty enjoyed attending auctions and was well known for her country cooking and the many events she catered. She was a member of the Sinnemahoning Sportsmen Club and Mosquito Creek Auxiliary of Frenchville, the V.F.W. and American Legion of Lock Haven and the Women of the Moose of Bellefonte.
Friends will be received Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Neff Funeral Home, Howard, with services immediately following. Pastor Ronald Neese will officiate. Burial will follow in the Advent Cemetery, Moose Run Road, Milesburg.

Michael A. Lehman
Michael A. "Mike" Lehman, 26, of 1236 River Road, entered eternal peace at home Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, where he had fought a courageous battle with cancer the last five month of his short life.
He was born in Jersey Shore, Feb. 24, 1978, a son of Neil and Sherry Baughman Lehman.
During his childhood, he played Little League baseball and was a member of the All Star team. He was a graduate of Jersey Shore High School, where he was very active with Future Business Leaders of America. He qualified at the regional level as a freshman and junior to move onto state conference competition. During his senior year, he placed ninth for Mr. FBLA at states. He was also co-president of FBLA as a senior.
He received the outstanding achievement award for Pa. Free Enterprise week in the summer of 1995. He also received other academic awards including Student of the Month and induction into the National Honor Society in May of 1995 and was a member of Who's Who Among American HIgh School Students from 1993 to 1996.
He attended Penn State University where he was a member of the Theta Sigma Psi fraternity.
Mike was employed five years with R.H. Environmental Co. of Williamsport where he was a manager. He enjoyed planning and designing homes and took pride in renovating, remodeling and landscaping.
Mike was a loving and caring person to family and friends, and he was a loving son.
Besides his parents, Neil and Sherry, he is survived by his grandfather, Marshall Baughman of Avis; aunts and uncles, Deb and Steve Muthler of Jersey Shore, Rev. Barry and Rev. Val Lehman of Minnesota, Betty and Arthur Connor of Avis, and Peggy and Bryan Watson of New Cumberland; cousins, Chad Hoffman, Jeff Hoffman, Betsy Lehman, Kathleen Bohart, Mary Louise Wolfe, Becky Chapman, Taylor Folmar and Jacob Hoffman. He is also survived by a special loving and devoted care-giving cousin, Tammy Folmar. He also has many other cousins and a loving group of friends and co-workers.
He was predeceased by his grandmother, Thelma Baughman and paternal grandparents, Harold and Dora Lehman.
Mike's life celebration will begin with a visitation on Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home Ltd., A Life Celebration Home, 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. from the funeral home with the Rev. Audrey Murdock officiating. Burial will be in Jersey Shore Cemetery. A luncheon reception will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church social hall.

Marian E. Stalter
Marian E. Stalter, 89, a resident of the Susqueview Nursing Home, Lock Haven, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004 at the nursing home.
She was born Jan. 2, 1915 in Lock Haven, the daughter of the late Clarence and Dora Collins Heineman.
She married Kenneth R. Shuey, who died in 1970. She later married Horace Stalter, who died in 1980.
She was a 1936 graduate of the former Lock Haven High School. She was a member of the East Main Street United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star of Elmira, N.Y. and the ladies auxiliary of the Lock Haven Moose Club. She enjoyed crocheting.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia A. Caris of Mill Hall; a son, Robert K. Shuey and his wife, Mary Beth, of Gettysburg; two sisters, Hazel Fenton of Indiana and Francis Gerhart of Florida; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Williams and a brother, Robert Heineman.
Private funeral services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mill Hall. There will be no public visitation. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home Inc., 231 High St., Flemington.
Eva M. Johnson
Eva M. Johnson, 96, Susquehanna Ave., South Renovo, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004 at the Bucktail Medical Center, Renovo, where she resided for the past year and a half.
Born Oct. 4, 1908 at Summerson Mountain, she was the daughter of Elmer and Mary (Putnam) Van Sickle.
Her husband, Gerald A. Johnson, preceded her in death in 1987.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Renovo, and she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by four sons, Neil R. (Pat) of St. Mary s, Leonard A. (Betty) of Flagler Beach, Fla., Gerald W. Johnson of South Renovo, and Paul V. Johnson of Elmira, N.Y.; a daughter, Norma Nevins of Horseheads, N.Y.; 22 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchild; and a sister, Anna Anthon, of DePew, N.Y.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 1, 2004 at the Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth St., Renovo, with Rev. John A. Godissart officiating. Friends and relatives will be received at the funeral home Monday one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in North Bend Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to Bucktail Medical Center.
Eva M. Johnson, 96, of Susquehanna Avenue, South Renovo, who died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, was preceded in death by a son, Dean G. Johnson, in 1986.
Joan E.W. Gilmore
Joan Elizabeth Weaver Gilmore, 72, 52 Cedar Heights, Mill Hall, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004 at the Lock Haven Hospital.
She was born May 8, 1932 in Lock Haven, a daughter of the late Elizabeth Weaver Green.
She married Robert S. Gilmore in Hagerstown, Md., on April 8, 1953. He died on May 7, 1997.
She was a 1950 of Lock Haven and a 1953 graduate of the Lock Haven Hospital School of Nursing. She had worked at the Lock Haven Hospital until 1966 and then worked for the late Dr. Richard S. Clover until 1976. Joan then worked at the Community Nursing Service of Clinton County from 1978 until 1986.
She was a member of the Cedar Heights Brethren in Christ Church. Joan enjoyed watching J.A.G. and the NASCAR races. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and spending time with her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Debra L. (Gary) Umpstead of Williamsport and Cheryl (Timothy ) Counsil of Mill Hall; a son, Robert S. (Marlene) Gilmore Jr. of Mill Hall; six granddaughters, Christina Fravel, Amy Counsil, Jamie Hanford, Heather Umpstead, Kristin Umpstead, and Kylie Gilmore; a grandson, Jason Gilmore; and two great-grandsons, Gunner Fravel and Gavin Daniel Fravel.
Services will be Monday, Nov. 1, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the Dean K. Wetzler Jr. Funeral Home, Mill Hall, will her pastor, Rev. Mark Thornton, officiating. Entombment will be at Cedar Hill Mausoleum, Mill Hall. Visitation will be Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Fred Brewer
Fred Brewer, 74, of Elkhart, died Sept. 19, 2003 at his home.
He was formerly of Lock Haven and was married to Marjorie Fiedler on Oct. 8, 1954 in Jersey Shore.
His wife survives, along with two sons, two brothers, a granddaughter and two step-grandchildren.
A sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held in Osceola at the Chapel Hill Funeral Home.
Esther A. Johnson
Esther A. Johnson, 86, of Harrisburg and formerly of Renovo, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003.
Born March 12, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Irene McLaughlin DeLorenzo.
She was the widow of Charles H. Johnson.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Ralph C. and Carol Johnson of Enola; a granddaughter, Jennifer Pyryt; two step-grandsons, Brad and Robert Kivlan; and her sisters, Margaret Swanson of Huntington Woods, Mich. and Camilla DeLorenzo of North Bend.
Burial was held in St. Joseph Church Cemetery, Renovo.
Arrangements were handled by the Malpezzi Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg.
Mary Janetta Eck Dwyer
Mary Janetta Eck Dwyer, 84, 240 W. Water St., Lock Haven, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003 at her residence.
She was born to Robert and Nelle Eck, now deceased, in Renovo on July 16, 1919.
She graduated from Saint Joseph's High School in 1935 and D.T. Watson Hospital for Crippled Children, Ambridge, in 1938. She attended personnel classes at the University of Pittsburgh, while working for Ambridge Bank and American Bridge Company. She went to New York during World War II to work for the American Cyanamid Company at Rockefeller Center and then the New York War Fund.
Mary married William J. Dwyer, DDS in 1945. They began their married life in Renovo and moved to Lock Haven in 1955 with their six children. Mary and Bill enjoyed Penn State games and many nights of bridge with their friends. Dr. Bill died unexpectedly in 1971.
She will be remembered for many qualities but especially for her annual St. Patrick's Day parties beginning in Renovo in 1946 and running with few interruptions until 2003.
Cancer has challenged Mary since her diagnosis of ovarian cancer in 1999. She fought a valiant battle with many close calls. She died at peace in her home thanks to Hospice, a group of wonderful caregivers and her loyal sons. We will miss her fighting spirit. Rest now, Mom. We love you.
She is survived by her sister, Katherine White of Altoona and her brother, Robert Eck Jr. of Canton, Ohio; two daughters, Kathy Dwyer and her husband, Dan Gunn, and sons Nick and Adam, of Bainbridge Island, Wash., and Mary Ellen Jones and her husband, Dick, and sons Mark, Matt and Chris, of Mount Lake Terrace, Wash.; four sons, Mark, and his wife, Sandy, and sons Jim, Erik and Chris and six granddaughters, of Marysville; Jim and his wife, Bobbie (Gardner), and sons Matt and Daniel, of Woolrich; Frank and his wife, Kathy (Reynolds), and daughters Megan, Erin and Katelyn, of Mill Hall, and Bob and his wife, Barbara (Kelley), and daughters Julia, Kristine and Lauren, of Mill Hall.
The Funeral Mass will be Friday, Oct. 10, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 310 W. Water St., Lock Haven, with the Rev. Daniel J. O'Neill officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Lock Haven. Friends will be received at the Moriarty-Dutcavich Funeral Home, 112 E. Church St., Lock Haven, Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday morning at Mary's home, 240 W. Mary E. Miller
Mary E. Miller, 79, Woolrich, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003 in the Jersey Shore Hospital Emergency Room, after being stricken at home.
Born July 8, 1924 in Lock Haven, she was a daughter of Herbert and Bessie (Chubb) Shaffer.
Her husband, Irvin L., died in 1981.
Mrs. Miller was a housewife. She enjoyed spending Sundays at her daughter's home and holidays with her family. She loved plants, angels and country music.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary E. Engle of Jersey Shore; five grandchildren, Donald, John, Stacy, Franklin and Casey; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Herbert Shaffer of Woolrich and Clarence Shaffer of Avis; and a sister, Shirley Carson of Avis.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Jane, in 1946 and a brother, Robert, in 2002.
A graveside service will be Friday, Oct. 10, 2003 at 1 p.m. in the Dunnstown Cemetery. The Rev. Clifford Miller will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, P.O. Box Jerry, Phoenix, Ariz. 85062.

Jesse C. Peters Jr.
Jesse C. Peters Jr., 57, of Beech Creek, died Saturday, Oct. 30 at his home.
Born May 1, 1947 in Lock Haven, he was the son of Jesse C. Jr. and Faye Rupert Peters.
He was married to Susan Greninger on June 20, 2003. She survives at home.
Jesse attended Bald Eagle Nittany High School. He was a self-employed logger for over 25 years.
He was a member of the Beech Creek American Legion and he enjoyed hunting.
Surviving are three sons, Travis L. (fiance Paula Keller) of Lamar, Steve A. Confer (Carol) of Lock Haven and Tony W. Confer (Heather) of Jersey Shore; a sister, Barbara J. Peters of Yukon, Okla.; two brothers, John L. of Julian and James L. of Howard; and two grandchildren, Dalton and Blake Elizabeth Confer.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004 at the W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main St., Howard. Rev. Russel J. Moldovan will officiate. Visitation is Tuesday, Nov. 2 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Church of Christ Cemetery, Blanchard. Bertha M. Edkin
Bertha M. Edkin, 87, of 8 Woodward Meadows, Lock Haven, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2004 at the Lock Haven Hospital, Lock Haven.
She was born Aug. 30, 1917 in Pine Mountain, the daughter of the late Ralph and Mary Wagner Miller.
She married Alexander McKinney, who died in 1963. She later married Robert Edkin, who died in 1996.
She is survived by a son, Richard A. Dick McKinney and his wife, Susan, of Lock Haven; two sisters, Dorothy Moore of Jersey Shore and Mable Shadle of Avis; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Katherine Miller, Elizabeth Miller and Ruth Prince and three brothers, Charles, David, and John.
She was a Methodist by faith. Earlier in her life, she was employed as a cook for the former Fallon Hotel. She was an avid card player. She had a heart of gold and will be dearly missed by all.
Funeral services will be Tuesday Nov. 2, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, with the Rev. Marie E. Lewis officiating. John J. Marino
John Joseph Marino, 83, of Renovo, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004 at Bucktail Medical Center.
Born in Renovo Aug. 8, 1921, he was the son of Dominic and Rosie (Speranti) Marino.
His wife, the former Catherine Zaccone, died June 6, 1985.
Mr. Marino worked as a dispatcher for the Pennsylvania State Police and also owned and operated the Sportsman's Restaurant and Hotel.
He was a life member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, a former borough council member and past secretary, basketball coach at St. Joseph's High School and baseball coach for the American Legion baseball team. He attended Lock Haven University and was a member of the Sons of Italy and the Elks lodge of Renovo.
Mr. Marino served in the Marine Corp during World War II.
He is survived by a son, Joseph (Tammy) Marino of North Bend; a daughter, Cynthia (Mike) Coleman of Renovo; three grandchildren, Katie, Charon and Taryn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Victor, Francis Wimpy, William and Joseph Marino and also four sisters, Antoinette Dascanio, Mary Malizia, Philomenia Severino and Catherine Belfiore.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004 at the church, 925 Huron Ave., with the Rev. Donald E. Boslett officiating. Relatives and friends will be received at the church Saturday one hour prior to the mass. Private interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Hyner.
Memorial contributions can be made to Bucktail Medical Center, Activity Entertainment Fund, or St. Joseph's Church.

William E. Sparks
William Elmer Sparks, 79, Fort Myers, Fla., died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004 at Cape Coral.
Mr. Sparks was a native of Cumberland, Md.
He is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine Fay Sparks; his son, William S. Sparks of Fort Myers; his daughter, Carol Leah Sparks of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Betty Decker of Washington; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Sparks was a member of the The Quiet Birdmen, A.O.P.A., and the Rotary Club.
He had been a pilot for 55 years and had operated the Merritt Island Airport. He authored the book, Close Encounters of a Vagabond Ferry Pilot.
There will be a service of remembrance at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004 in the Anderson Funeral Home with Chaplain Michael Crigger officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4 until 6 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, 3654 Palm Beach Blvd., Fort Myers, Fla.
It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to Home Hospice.
Ronald L. Meixel
Ronald L. Meixel, 64, 3225 Rauchtown Road, Rauchtown, died peacefully at home in the company of family and friends on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004.
Ron was born on Aug. 2, 1940 near Rauchtown, the eldest son of Clyde G. and Beatrice G. Sis (nee Weidler) Meixel.
He was a life long resident of the Rauchtown and Jersey Shore area. He attended the Rauchtown and Upper End schools and the former Williamsport Technical Institute. He worked as a farm laborer, as a Euchlid driver at the former Pine Creek Quarry, and as a delivery man and installer with the former Wolf Furniture Store in Lock Haven.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn M. (nee Smith) Meixel of Williamsport; his daughter, Jody Meixel and grandson Zachary Meixel, with whom he shared his home; step-sons, David, Steven, and Michael Peasley; his brother, Cliff Meixel of Williamsport; and some very good friends.
In keeping with Ron's wishes, there will be no visitation or service at this time. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Ronald Gardner
Professor Ronald Wayne Gardner, 67, of 424 E. Main St. Titusville, died at 4:20 a.m. Friday, November 12, 2004 at the Titusville Area Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Professor Gardner was born on April 29, 1937 in Beech Creek, a son of the late Evelyn Gardner Barger. He was married to Barbara Joan Bryan, his bride of 48 years, on March 31, 1956.
He was a graduate of Lock Haven High School, class of 1955. He was also a graduate of Lock Haven State College and Notre Dame University. He received his masters degree in mathematics from Oklahoma State College.
He was a teacher at State College High School before moving to Titusville in 1963 to teach math at the University of Pittsburgh. He was one of the first professors hired at the opening of the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville and was the last of the original professors to retire after teaching here for 35 years. Following his retirement from the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville, he began his second career in land development.
Professor Gardner was a member and treasurer of the Venango Barbertones. He was past worthy president of the Titusville Eagles Lodge. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed spending time at his camp with family and friends. He was a fan of both the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. He enjoyed most being with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of Titusville, he is survived by three sons, Ronald Scott Gardner of Zelienople, Douglas Gardner and his wife Susan of Monroeville and Christopher Gardner of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two daughters, Kelly Hohn and her husband Barry of Venango and Jill McCandless and her husband Patrick of Medina, Ohio; five grandchildren, Elizabeth and Allison Gardner, Gavin and Griffin Hohn, and Evan McCandless; a brother, George Barger of Boalsburg; a sister, Mrs. Georgine Fye of Lusk Run; and several nieces and nephews.
No public calling hours will be observed. Friends may attend a memorial service on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville.

John Schenck
John H. "Jack" Schenck, 74, of 56 Ashland St., Mill Hall, died Nov. 12, 2004 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center, State College.
Born Jan. 15, 1930 in Wilkensburg, he was the son of the late Malcolm and Mary Hoffman Schenck.
he was married to Joanne G. Myers Schenck on June 20, 1954. She survives at home.
He was a 1948 graduate of Howard High School and retired from Haven Homes, Beech Creek. He had previously worked for Piper Aircraft Corp. and the Hammermill Paper Co., both formerly of Lock Haven.
He was a 50-year member of Bellefonte Lodge No. 268, F&AM and attended the Cedar Heights Brethren in Christ Church, Mill Hall.
Jack was an avid gardener who enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends.
He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Service Btry. 20th Field Artillery Bn.
Surviving are a daughter, Debra (Jeff) Corcelius of Bellefonte; a son, Dirk E. (Bea) Schenck of Waynesboro and a granddaughter, Charlotte Corcelius of Bellefonte. Also surviving is Susan Lingle of Seattle, Wash., whom the Schenck's consider a part of their family.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Schenck.
Memorial services are 7 p.m. Nov. 15, 2004 at Cedar Heights Brethren in Christ Church, Mill Hall. Rev. Mark Thornton, his pastor, will officiate. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church.

Mary E. LaRock
Mary E. LaRock, 87, widow of Elmer Powers and Francis LaRock of 22 Cree Drive, Lock Haven, passed away on Nov. 11, 2004 at Susque-View Home.
Born in Rote on April 5, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Frederick and Carrie Mae (Herman) Brungard.
She attended the Sheats School.
She was a homemaker and was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Bible Church, Loganton.
She is survived by four sons, Thomas Powers of Monmouth Junction, N.J., Clarence Powers of Cross Junction, Va., Leroy Powers of Mexico, N.Y. and Robert Powers of Bloomington, Ind.; a daughter, Nellie Young of Easton; 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. in the Wayne P. Urbine Funeral Home Inc., 95 E. Main St., Loganton, with the Rev. Luther Nelson officiating. The visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. The final interment will be held in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Rosecrans.
Hilda P. McGonigal
Hilda Poust McGonigal, 89, of Lock Haven, died Nov. 12, 2004 at the Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit.
She was born in Jersey Shore on Aug. 9, 1915 and was the daughter of the late Russell William and Mary Ada Schreffler Poust.
Mrs. McGonigal was united in marriage June 3, 1944 to Robert E. McGonigal, who died Jan. 19, 2001.
She was a 1933 graduate of Jersey Shore High School and had resided in Jersey Shore until 1962. From 1962 to 1976, she and her husband resided in Clearfield where she had been employed by J.C. Penney's for 13 years. They moved back to the Lock Haven area in 1976.
Mrs. McGonigal was a member of the First Church of Christ in Lock Haven where she had served as a deaconess for a number of years.
Survivors include a son, Neal R. McGonigal of Mill Hall; a daughter, Mrs. David (Doris J.) Mitnick of Suffolk, Va.; two grandchildren, Brian and Brent McGonigal and a great-granddaughter, Kiara McGonigal.
Also surviving are a sister-in-law, Edith Hart; nieces, Barbara and her husband Carl Billman, Susan and her husband Mike Starke, Shirley and her husband Robert Resicinito and Mary Stewart; nephews, Kenneth and wife Gladys Eckel, Paul and his wife Alina Eckel, John and his wife Marda Eckel, David and his wife Betty Poust, Rodney Holter and J. Kenneth and his wife Mary Thomas; 17 great-nieces; 12 great-nephews; 30 great-great-nieces and 23 great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Alice and her husband Arthur Threader, Alta and her husband LaRue Clarke, Kathryn and her husband John Eckel and Verna Poust; two brothers, R. Irvin and his wives Thora and Kathryn Poust and A. Foster and his wife Dorothy Poust; a niece, Sandra Holter; a nephew, R. Barry Poust; one great-niece and one great-nephew.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004 at 11 a.m. in the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven. Officiating will be Rev. Troy Borst and Lay Minister John Harvey of the First Church of Christ in Lock Haven. Interment will be in the Jersey Shore Cemetery, Lycoming County. Friends will be received in the funeral home on Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.
The family suggests memorial contributions be accepted to the First Church of Christ through the funeral home.
The Yost-Gedon Funeral Home, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven, is in charge of the arrangements.
Janet F. Keister McDermit Robison
Janet F. Keister McDermit Robison, 71, former Lock Haven resident, died on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004 in Key West, Fla.
Born in Lock Haven on May 24, 1933 to the late Edward L. Sr. and Mildred Wrye Keister, she was a 1951 graduate of Lock Haven High School.
Janet worked at Bell Telephone, Piper Aircraft, High and Keister Electrical and Assante's Restaurant, where she was affectionately known as Aunt Janet or "A.J." In search of warmer weather, she settled in Key West.
Her brother, Gary R. Keister, and her companion, Lee Hickney, predeceased her. Survivors include a brother, Edward L. (Patricia) Keister Jr. of Lock Haven; a daughter, Carol A. (Wayne) Pearsall of Lock Haven; a son, George E. (Mitzi) McDermit of Key West; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews and cousins.
As a member of the Neptune Society, Janet will be cremated and her ashes scattered, with her companion's ashes, at their favorite deep sea fishing site in the Atlantic Ocean southeast of Key West.
Private memorial services will be held at the family's discretion. The family recommends memorial donations to the Ross Library in Lock Haven in lieu of flowers.
