Alice M. Nolan
Alice M. Nolan, 79, of Hublersburg Road, Bellefonte, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004 in Susque-View Home and Health Care, Lock Haven.
Born Dec. 3, 1925 in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Floy Frank McCaleb.
Her husband, G. Kenneth Nolan, preceded her in death Aug. 6, 2003. They were married May 14, 1948.
She was a homemaker and was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ, Hublersburg.
Mrs. Nolan was a 4-H leader for many years. She was a life member and past president of the ladies auxiliary of the Walker Township Volunteer Fire Co. She was choir director at the church and was also the piano player at the church.
Surviving are a daughter, Lois N. McGrail and her husband, Fritz, of Hublersburg; a son, Frank D. Nolan and his wife, Sharlene, of Hublersburg; two sisters, Jolene Douty of Loganton and Sarah Belle McCaleb of Lock Haven; six grandchildren, Theresa Reidmiller, Shelby Hamilton, Jennifer McGrail, Shawna Weaver, Sherry Nolan and Erin McGrail; and three great-grandchildren, Jordon Reidmiller, Keifer Hamilton and Nolan Weaver.
Mrs. Nolan was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Lucas and Dolly Shirk.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004 at Trinity United Church of Christ, Hublersburg. Pastor Paula Curtis-Burn will officiate. Friends will be received Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Hublersburg Cemetery, Walker Township. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, 355 Hublersburg Road, Bellefonte, Pa. 16823.

Harry Jarrett
Harry Merlin 'Mose' Jarrett, 87, of 285 Bolivar Drive, also of Key Largo, Fla., died Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 22, 2004, in Mariners Hospital in Tavernier, Fla., after a brief illness.
Born in Renovo on Dec. 28, 1916, he was a son of Harry N. and Ruth Long Jarrett. On Aug. 5, 1937 in Emporium, he married Mary Ann Weaver of South Renovo.
Mr. Jarrett graduated from Renovo High School in 1934. He was a veteran, having served six years in the U.S. Navy as a machinist on the U.S.S. Medusa. He also served over two years in the U.S. Maritime Service, graduating from Officer's Candidate School in Fort Trumbull, Conn. His remaining service was as a technical instructor at Fort Trumbull.
After World War II, he was employed as a machinist/toolmaker at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft Engines in Hanford, Conn., before accepting a job as an engineer for Boviard Co. in Bradford in 1948. In 1963, his entrepreneurial spirit led to his founding of Jarrett Machine Co., a precision job machine shop.
Mr. Jarrett was energetic and creative, providing manufacturing and engineering services to his customers. He was awarded two patents in his career. He greatly enjoyed the people he worked with, his customers and suppliers, and fellow Bradfordians in the business and professional community. He was pleased to have provided jobs for the people of Bradford.
He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge No. 334 F&AM. He had been a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Bradford Club. He served many years on the Foster Township Authority. At the time of his death, he was still serving as chairman of the board of Jarrett Machine Co.
Surviving in addition to his wife Mary Ann are two sons, Robert M. (Marie) Jarrett of Bradford and John P. (Linda) Jarrett of Pinehurst, N.C; five grandsons, Paul J. Jarrett of Washington D.C., Michael R. Jarrett of Savannah, Ga., James Harry (Teresa) Jarrett of Baltimore, Md., Charles J. (Sarah) Jarrett of Smyrna, Ga. and Richard H. (Cathy) Jarrett of LIverpool, N.Y.; a great-grandson, William S. Jarrett of Smyrna and a brother, Paul A. (Ruth) Jarrett of Warner Robins, Ga.
He was predeceased by a sister, Catherine and three brothers, Harold, Earl and Robert.
The Jarrett family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Home Inc., East Main Street. A Masonic service will follow at 7 p.m., given by members of Masonic Lodge No. 334 F&AM. Burial will be in North Bend Cemetery, North Bend, at a later date.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the McKean County SPCA.

Carol R. Waite, 68, 208 Eagleville Road, Blanchard, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003 at Lock Haven Hospital.

Velma Rae Pletcher
Velma Rae Pletcher, 83, of Snow Shoe, formerly of Howard, passed away Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003 at Susque View Nursing Home, Lock Haven.
She was born in Blanchard on Sept. 12, 1919, the daughter of the late William H. and Julia S. Kline Holter. On Jan. 13, 1946 in Blanchard, she married William Nathaniel Pletcher, who died Dec. 12, 1974.
She was employed by Sylvania of Mill Hall and was a cook for Roadway (Bestway) in Milesburg, Howard Elementary School and Red's Snack Shack in Howard. She enjoyed watching TV, especially sports, and doing crossword puzzles. She was of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses, William Nathaniel, Jr. and his wife Bonnie of Milesburg, Malcolm Ray, and his wife Louise of Snow Shoe, and with whom she resided, and Janice Lou Johnson and David of Lock Haven. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Melissa M. Noll of Port Matilda, Jennifer L. Kinley of Milesburg, David A. Tuttle II of Mill Hall and Travis N. Johnson of Avis; and six great-grandchildren, Jacob and Miranda Noll, Kyle and Kayleigh Kinley, and Zackery and Zander Tuttle. She is also survived by two sisters, Dorothy Carter of Savannah, Ga. and Julia Packer of Blanchard.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Lewis; three brothers, Merrill Holter, Leonard Holter and Earl Holter; and a sister, Violet Rittenhouse.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, 2003 at Schencks Cemetery in Howard with Lay Pastor Catherine Dittman officiating. There will be no public viewing. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Neff Funeral Home in Howard.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Snow Shoe United Methodist Church.
Wanda M. Brookens
Wanda M. (Welch) Brookens, 60, of South Renovo, died in Williamsport Hospital on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003.
She was born in Renovo on Dec. 20, 1942, a daughter of the late Chester and Romaine (Bressler) Welch.
Wanda worked as a dietician at Bucktail Medical Center, was a devoted wife and mother, enjoyed flowers and gardening and was a devout animal lover.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn Brookens Jr., whom she married on July 28, 1960 in Cumberland, Md.; two sons, David Brookens of Woolrich and Joseph Brookens of Farwell; brothers Joseph Welch of Lancaster and Chester Welch Jr. of Erie; and sisters Lois Kline and Donna Wagner, both of Renovo, and Linda Steighauf of Landisville. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Donations are requested to the Clinton County S.P.C.A. in her memory.

Stephen M. Yenchick
Stephen M. Yenchick, Lancaster, formerly of Lock Haven, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003 at the home of his daughter, Ruth Ann, in Lancaster. He was 84 years old.
Born in Mahanoy City on Aug. 23, 1919, he moved to Lock Haven in 1941.
Steve was the owner/manager of the Regal and Blum Jewelry Store until his retirement in 1992.
He was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ, a Cub Scout leader in the 1950s, a lifetime member of the B.P.O.E., and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. He also belonged to the Kiwanis Club and was a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed fishing and watching the Phillies play.
Steve was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; four brothers, Andy, Michael (Micky), Paul and John; and a sister, Anna.
Surviving are two daughters, Ruth Ann of Lancaster and Joan Marie of Arvada, Colo.; four grandchildren, Andy, Lori and Lisa McKeague and Brett Shoemaker; and two brothers, Joeseph Yenchick of Carlisle and Emil Yenchick of Mahanoy City.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003 at 11 a.m. in St. Luke's United Church of Christ, 1175 W. Fourth St., Lock Haven. The Rev. John Silliman will officiate. Burial will be in Dunnstown Cemetery. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home Inc., 231 High St., Flemington.

Robert P. Wilson
Robert P. Wilson, 34, Renovo, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2003 as a result of a motorcycle crash.
Born Jan. 14, 1969 in Renovo, he was a son of Burton and Mary Jane (Tassa) Wilson.
He was a 1987 graduate of Bucktail Area High School and was currently employed as a salesman at Eagle Ford, Lock Haven.
He was a former resident of Erie, and while living there, he was a truck driver with consolidated freight.
Robert served in the Army during the Gulf War and enjoyed golfing, fishing and motorcycles and was an avid NASCAR fan.
He is survived by his father of Renovo; paternal grandmother, Mildred Wilson of North Bend; two brothers, Burton Jr. of Columbus, Ohio and Thomas C. of Renovo; two sisters, Brenda L. Bower of Ft. Meade, Md. and Jean M. Mason of Renovo; a companion, Christine M. Cannon of Renovo; and a godchild, Liam Dwyer of Renovo.
He was preceded in death by his mother in 2000.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003 in the Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth St., Renovo. Friends and relatives may call the funeral home Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. Interment will be private.
Thelma Alberta Kepler
Thelma Alberta Kepler, 90, 440 Ontario Ave., Renovo, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003 in Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care.
Born Sept. 25, 1912, she was a daughter of the late Albert B. and Nora A. Crossley Croak.
She married Orrin R. Kepler on Dec. 20, 1932. He preceded her in death in 1970.
She retired after 25 years as cook at the YMCA. She was the treasurer of the Renovo Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading and watching television.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald W. of Renovo and Dennis K. of Landsdale; a daughter, Thelma E. Wilson of Renovo; two sisters, Lillian Finnefrock of South Renovo and Francine Wolfe of Castanea; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia L. Kepler; a grandson, Robert Wilson; a brother, Albert Croak; and a sister, Eleanor Croak.
Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc.
ClaraBelle Harter
ClaraBelle (Hunk) Harter, 90, of Central Avenue, Avis, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003 in the Williamsport Hospital.
Born March 28, 1913 in Avis, she was a daughter of Eugene Sylvis and the former Margaret E. Kiester.
For many years she was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Avis. She was a homemaker all her life and enjoyed cooking, bingo and playing cards.
She and her husband, William H. Harter, were married on March 26, 1931. He preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 1980. A son, Donald E. Harter of Mill Hall; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren survive her.
She was also preceded in death by five brothers, four sisters, and a grandson, Donald W. Harter, who died March 5, 1994.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003 at 1 p.m. in the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. Friends may call from noon Tuesday till the time of services in the funeral home. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park. The Rev. Terry Hughes will officiate.
Arthur M. Heck Sr.
Arthur M. Heck Sr., 75, 3 King Arthur Drive, Mill Hall, died Aug. 23, 2003 in Lock Haven Hospital.
Born Dec. 28, 1927 in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late John and Beatrice Chapman Heck.
He was married to Donna R. Kennedy in 1951.
He retired from Piper Aircraft and the National Guard and was a member of the Beech Creek American Legion and Castanea Fire Hall.
Surviving are a daughter, Belinda Yandell of Gouldsboro; four sisters, Viola Geyer and Sylvia McCloskey, both of Mill Hall, Shirley Fravel of Avis and Connie Fye of Vero Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Arthur M. Heck Jr., and a sister, Janice Kennedy.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home Inc., 231 High St., Flemington. The Rev. Mark Riley will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Ruth D. Scheid, 80, 360 E. Park St., Lock Haven, passed into the Lord's care on Aug. 24, 2003 at the Lock Haven Hospital.

Arthur D. 'Tony' Baney
Arthur D. 'Tony' Baney, 68, Castanea, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003 in the Lock Haven Hospital.
Born Jan. 28, 1935 in Beech Creek, he was a son of Arthur D. and Mary Ellen (Heaton) Baney.
He and his wife, the former Patricia A. Cycak, were married Dec. 18, 1981.
Mr. Baney retired from International Paper in 1997. Earlier he owned and operated Baney's Garage in Loganton and also worked as a supervisor for the former Bloomsburg Mills.
He was an avid Penn State fan and also enjoyed hunting, fishing and chopping wood. Mr. Baney was a renowned auto mechanic.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia; two sons, Daniel Baney of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla. and Todd Baney of Charlotte, N.C.; a step-son, William Smith of Flemington; a step-daughter, Stephanie Powell of Lock Haven; three grandchildren, Erin, Jenn and Vincent; and two sisters, Grace Harpster of Beech Creek and Esther May Wagner of Salona. Also surviving is his first wife, Janet Baney of Beech Creek.
He was preceded in death by a brother and four sisters.
The funeral will be Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003 at 7 p.m. in the Helt Funeral Chapel, Mill Hall. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clinton County SPCA. Interment will be in Dunnstown Cemetery.
Charles O. Colegrove
Charles O. 'Chuck' Colegrove, 48, 1255 Sacks Run Road, Trout Run, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2003 at the Clinton County Speedway.
Chuck was born Oct. 16, 1954 in Marsh Hill, a son of Egbert H. and Gladys Hamilton Colegrove.
He was a welder for Lemco Tool for over 25 years.
Chuck enjoyed hunting and fishing in his earlier days but loved auto racing. Having participated in the super stock class since 1991, he drove car no. 2 at the Clinton County and Ace High speedways. He was noted for building motors, Chevys and welding.
He is survived by daughters Regina Heiser and Eric Spiegel of Williamsport and Michelle and son-in-law Shawn Finn of South Williamsport; son Matthew of Williamsport; fiancee April Runyan of Trout Run; grandsons Dustin Heiser, Cody Spiegel and Hunter Finn; granddaughter Mackenzie Finn; father Egbert of Cogan Station; sisters Beverly (Larry) McNett, Susan (Robert) Styers, Betty Colegrove, Linda Lewis and Violet (Ned) Pantelich; brothers Ed (Patricia) and Gene (Debra) Colegrove and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys, in 1990.
He left behind many wonderful friends and dedicated members of his pit crew.
Relatives and friends are invited to Chuck's life celebration Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at James C. Maneval Funeral Home, 'A Life Celebration Home,' 500 W. Fourth St., where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. Pastor William Zuber of God's Will Church will officiate. Interment will be in Cogan House Cemetery.
Mary Ellen Connor
Mary Ellen Connor, 67, of 152 Mill St., Mill Hall, died March 23, 2005 at her home.
Born Oct. 5, 1937 in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of Chestie Bierly Yearick of Nittany and the late Ocean Yearick.
She was married to James N. Connor on July 11, 1959. He died March 31, 2001.
A 1955 graduate of Hublersburg High School, she was a homemaker and had assisted her husband on their farm.
She was a member of the Clinton County Fair Association, the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Nittany Valley Drive, Mill Hall, and a former member of the 4-H.
Surviving are a daughter, Kimberly Connor-Kraft (Geoff) of Miami, Fla.; a son, Greg J. (Stacey) Connor of Mackeyville; a sister, Jean Seyler of Nittany; two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Memorial services are 11 a.m. March 26, 2005 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Nittany Valley Drive, Mill Hall. Rev. Daniel May will officiate. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the services at the church. C. Yvonne Kellerman
C. Yvonne Kellerman, 67, of State College, formerly of Howard, died Sunday in the House of Care in State College.
She was the daughter of Glenn S. Fravel of Blanchard and the late Grace Wert Fravel.
She is survived by a son, Steven P. Kellerman Sr.; a sister, Dellie Rupert of Beech Creek; a brother, Ralph R. "Dick" Fravel of Howard; one grandson and one great-grandson.
Private services will be at Neff Funeral Home, Howard, with the Rev. Evelyn Wald officiating.
Christopher A. Weaver
Christopher A. Weaver, 27, of Howard, died Friday, March 25, 2005 at his home.
Born Sept. 7, 1977 in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late Eugene D. Weaver and Kathryn Killinger Weaver of Beech Creek.
He was united in marriage on Dec. 20, 2004 to the former Gail Pellerite, who survives at home.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He is survived by a daughter, Raine Allison Weaver, 9, at home; two brothers, Eugene Weaver Jr. and Randy Weaver, both of Howard; and five sisters, Carol J. Haagen and Brenda Burfield, both of Beech Creek, Jean Herrold of Blanchard and Debora Heverly and Ronda Weaver, both of Howard.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2005 in W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, 837 Main St., Howard, with the Rev. Allen S. Eckenroad officiating. Burial will be in Romola Cemetery, Curtin Township.
E. Mildred 'Betty' Weaver
E. Mildred 'Betty' Weaver, 82, formerly of 1775 Long Run Road, Mill Hall, died March 25, 2005 at the Susque-View Home Inc., Lock Haven.
Born May 24, 1922 in Monument, she was the daughter of the late William and Anna Walker Coulter.
Her first husband, Russell E. Garrett, whom she married in November 1940, died June 30, 1970. Her second husband, Dean W. Weaver, whom she married June 9, 1973, died May 31, 1996.
She had worked at Sylvania Electric, the housekeeping department of Lock Haven Hospital and Lock Haven Housing Authority, retiring in 1973.
She was a member of the Rote United Methodist Church. She enjoyed attending church, crocheting, hook-latching, ceramics and participating in programs at the Salvation Army.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Norma (Ronald) Killinger of Beech Creek and Mrs. Gail (Eli) Duck of Mill Hall; two step-daughters, Susan Yocum of Castanea and Judy Eiseworth of Williamsport; a step-son, Eric Weaver of Williamsport; and a sister, Wilma Leazier of Philipsburg. Also, 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by three sons, Russell E. Garrett Jr., who died May 1, 1998, William B. Garrett, who died May 30, 1997 and Roy M. Garrett who died Oct. 11, 1994; three brothers and a sister.
Funeral services are 4 p.m. March 29, 2005 at the Dean K. Wetzler Jr. Funeral Home, 320 Main St., Mill Hall. Rev. P. Franklin Hartzel, her pastor, will officiate. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. March 28, 2005 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mill Hall. Ruth P. Bardo
Ruth P. Bardo, 81, of 76 Shaffer Lane, Jersey Shore, died Saturday, March 26, 2005 at the home of her son at 318 Smith St., Jersey Shore.
Ruth was born Nov. 7, 1923 in Lawrence Township, Clearfield County. She was the daughter of Leland S. Putt and the former Lillian N. Hicklin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, F. Leroy (Roy) Bardo Sr., on Jan. 7, 1996. They were united in marriage Jan. 22, 1943 in Penfield.
Ruth was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Francis Putt and Leland Putt Jr.; two sisters, Marion Marshall and Vivian Putt; and a granddaughter, Katherine Bardo.
She is survived by four sons, Frank L. Bardo Jr. and his wife Alice of Jersey Shore, Ronald L. Bardo and his wife Annette of Jersey Shore, Leland O. Bardo and his wife Linda of Jersey Shore, Douglas S. Bardo and his fiancee Dianne Fredrick of Jersey Shore; a sister, Mrs. Claire English of Jersey Shore; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

George J. Hindman
George J. Hindman, 60, of Rauchtown Road, Jersey Shore, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005 in Allentown, while on business.
He was born July 22, 1944 in Philadelphia, a son of George F. and Anne McGarry Hindman.
He was a 1966 graduate of LaSalle University, receiving a bachelors degree in chemistry.
He was a facility engineer for different companies and he holds a patent in Oil Processing. He was a member of the ASLE.
He was a former member of the Roslyn Jaycees in Abington, Montgomery County.
He was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying.
Besides his wife, Carolyn, of 39 years, he is survived by three sons, George William Hindman of Austin, Texas, Stephen David Hindman of Jersey Shore and Joseph Patrick Hindman of Honolulu, Hawaii; one daughter, Anne Leigh Hindman of Williamsport; one sister, Elizabeth Anne Bell of Florida and two brothers, Paul Edmund Hindman of Manheim and Hugh Stephen Hindman of North Wales.
George's life celebration will begin with a visitation on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home Ltd., 'A Life Celebration Home,' 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 30 at the Immaculate Conception Church with the Rev. Robert T. Busteed as the Celebrant. Interment will be in the church cemetery. A Christian Vigil Service will be held Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Madeline H. Fisher, 89, of 28 Beverly Drive, Beech Creek, died March 24, 2005 at Lock Haven Hospital.
Born May 3, 1915 in Mill Hall, she was the daughter of the late Ellery M. and Jennie Mackey Heverly.
She was married to George S. Fisher in 1935. He died in 1991.
She attended Salona School and lived in the area her whole life. She worked at Bloomsburg Mills and Clinton Paper Co., retiring in 1968.
She was a member of Flemington First Church of Christ.
Surviving are a son, Denny G. (Helen) Fisher of Flemington; a brother, Clifford Heverly of Mifflinburg; a sister, Mildred Scantlin of Basset, Va.; two nephews; a niece; two grandchildren, Edward D. (Judy) Fisher and Steven W. Fisher; three great-grandchildren, Yvonne Zerby, Shane Fisher and Lacie Fisher and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by great-grandson, Vincent Fisher.
Private family services will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home Inc., 231 High St., Flemington. Rev. Mark Riley will officiate. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Flemington First Church of Christ.
Ellen Jane Packer
Ellen Jane Packer, 81, formerly of 23 W. Park St., Lock Haven, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005 in the Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit.
Born Oct. 25, 1923 in Monument, she was the daughter of the late Ray V. Shady and Marguerite M. Kelly Shady.
She was married to Malcolm L. Packer, who died May 8, 1990.
She was a member of the United Evangelical Lutheran Church. She also worked as a cook with Keystone Central School District for 21 years before retiring in 1982.
She is survived by three sons, Larry G. Kunes, Mill Hall, Danny L. Packer, Texas, and Stanley R. Packer. Mill Hall; two brothers, Robert M. Shady, Blanchard, and Richard B. Shady, Mill Hall; a sister, Esther M. Galbraith, West Seneca, N.Y.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Douglas B. Packer; a sister, Jeannette (Chip) Yeager; and two brothers George and Kenneth Shady.
Funeral services were today at 10 a.m. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home Inc., 231 High St., Flemington. The Rev. Robert Kitchen officiated. Interment in Liberty Baptist Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Carleton E. Mensch
Carleton E. Mensch, 84, of Little Mountain Road, Catawissa, died Saturday afternoon, March 26, 2005, in the home where he was born, and on the farm at the foot of the mountain that he had farmed his entire life.
Born September 10, 1920, he was the son of the late Wilmer and Ella Houck Mensch.
He graduated from the former Locust Township High School in the class of 1938.
In addition to farming, he had a market route for many years in Shenandoah, Pa. and was also employed as a psychiatric aide at the Danville State Hospital for 18 years, retiring in 1987.
He was a life-time member of the Grace United Church of Christ, Millgrove, where he served on the Consistory of the Church. He was a life member of the Catawissa Masonic Lodge and a past member of the Caldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg. He was a member of the Locust Township Planning Commission and a 4-H leader of the Wise Potato Chip Club.
He enjoyed vegetable gardening, mowing acres of lawn and being with family, neighbors and friends. He was an avid woodworker.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Ruthe Gotschall Mensch, in 1999 and by his equally beloved daughter, Carla Sue Mensch Hoagland, in 2004; a brother Mervin Mensch and a sister, Irene LeVan.
He is survived by a son, Terry Mensch at home; a son-in -law, Garwood R. "Gar" Hoagland of Catawissa; three grandchildren, Jennifer Budd and her husband Eric of Bethlehem, Rebecca Lingenfelter and her husband Richard of York Haven and Adam Hoagland of Hatfield; a great-granddaughter, Erica Budd of Bethlehem; a sister, Dorothy Sevison LeVan of Danville; a brother, Donald Mensch and wife Betty of Reading and a sister-in-law, Alice Gotschall Lloyd, of Woolrich.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 30 at 2 p.m. from the Allen R. Horne Funeral Home, 193 McIntyre Road, Catawissa, with the Rev. Donald L. Snyder officiating, assisted by Rev. Edmund W. Minnich, retired pastor and friend. Burial will be in Grace United Church of Christ Cemetery, Millgrove. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Columbia-Montour Home Hospice, 599 East 7th St., Bloomsburg, Pa. 17815 or to the Grace United Church of Christ, in care of AnnaMae Horne, 423 Ringtown Mountain Road, Catawissa, Pa. 17820.
Floyd D. Robinson
Floyd D. Robinson, 92, of Howard, died Monday, March 28, 2005 at the Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit.
Born Feb. 27, 1913 in Mount Eagle, he was the son of the late J. Albert and Dortha Corter Robinson.
He was married to Blanch E. Weaver on Feb. 22, 1936. She died June 23, 1992.
He was employed for 41 years with the Warner Company of Bellefonte.
He was a member of the Lick Run Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge 311, Howard, and he enjoyed hunting.
He was a member of the Romola Bible Church in Howard.
Surviving are a daughter, Gloria M. Kauffman of Runville; three sons, Floyd R. Robinson of Rote and Lynn A. and Donald L., both of Howard; a sister, Emma I. Swinehart of McElhattan; three brothers, Lyle R. of McElhattan, J. Albert of Mill Hall and Laird R. of Williamsport; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren and a step-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters; a grandson and two great-grandsons.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2005 at the W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main St., Howard. Pastor Bob Mauer will officiate. Burial will be in Romola Christian Cemetery, Curtin Township. Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 30 at the funeral home.
