Eleanor (E.J.) Deitch
Eleanor (E.J.) Deitch, 83, a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, and formerly of Rogers Ferry Road, Meadville, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at Meadville Medical Center.
She was born in Altoona Sept. 14, 1917, a daughter of Beale and Sadie Glass Few. She married Charles R. (Russ) Deitch Dec. 30, 1939. He preceded her in death April 4, 1988.
A 1936 graduate of Altoona High School, she worked as a sales lady at the former Crawford Store and at Fashion Bug.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
A member of Meadville Lioness Club, she enjoyed her friends and dining out. She was an avid bingo and card player.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Bradford and her husband, Barry, of New London, N.H., and Carol Lee Deitch of Ebensburg Center; a son, Charles R. Deitch Jr. and his wife, Ronda, of Moorsville, N.C.; three grandchildren, Christopher Bradford, Steven Deitch and Trisha Ofsanko; a great-grandson; a sister, Marjorie Hassler of Orlando, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffery Deitch.
Calling hours are today from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at Roofner-Collins Funeral Home Inc., 544 Chestnut St., Meadville.
The funeral will follow today at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Drew Elling, associate pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Alto Rest Cemetery, Altoona.

Albert E. Brink Jr.
HARBORCREEK - Albert E. Brink Jr., 69, of 7349 Belle Road, Harborcreek, and formerly of Meadville, died Friday, April 20, 2001, at his residence after a lengthy illness.
Born in Cussewago Township May 31, 1931, he was a son of Albert E. and Ada Irene Roberts Brink Sr. He married Autumn M. Robinson.
A graduate of Meadville High School, he served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War, earning the National Defense Service Medal and Sharpshooters Medal. He was the owner of Brink's Arco at West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard, Erie, from 1969 until 1981, and Brink's Auto Service at W. 29th Street and Liberty streets, Erie, from 1976 until his retirement last year. For more than 20 years, he was a towing representative for American Automobile Association in Erie.
He was a member of Ripley United Methodist Church, American Legion Carl Neff Post and Harborcreek Moose Lodge 593.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of more than 47 years, include two sons, Larry Edward Brink Sr. and his wife, Terri, and Albert Dean Brink and his wife, Pam, all of Harborcreek; a daughter, Connie Colleen Heubel and her husband, Harold, of Erie; six grandchildren, Jamie Benim, Deana Brink, Nicole Heubel, Shawn Heubel, Corey Brink and Larry Edward Brink Jr.; a great-granddaughter; two brothers, William Brink and his wife, Judy, of Wirtz, Va., and Ted Brink and his wife, Nancy, of Erie; two sisters, Gloria Mook and her husband, Jim, of Saegertown, and Charlotte Davis and her husband, Scott, of Meadville.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Adsit.
Calling hours will be Sunday and Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brugger Home for Funerals, W. 38th Street at Greengarden Blvd., Erie.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Revs. Robert England and David Strawn officiating.

Edward Louis Harkless
CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS - Edward Louis Harkless, 87, of Bartlett Gardens, 257 S. Main St., Cambridge Springs, died Friday, April 20, 2001, at Integrated Health Services, Bayside, Erie, following a long time of decline in health.
He had lived at Cambridge Springs for the past 13 years and was formerly of Erie.
Born in Oil City Jan. 28, 1914, he was a son of Charles and Lottie Schwartzfager Harkless. He married Susan Moon in 1936 and she preceded him in death in August 1969. He subsequently married Genevieve Kightlinger Shorts in 1970 which ended in divorce in 1984. On Feb. 1, 1986 he married Irene William Wise and she preceded him in death in 1988. He married Thelma Lord Maxson April 15, 1989.
He was a truck driver for Motor Express, retiring in 1979 after 15 years of service. He also was a licensed electrician.
He was a member of First Baptist Church at Cambridge Springs.
As a country western singer and musician, he was the leader of the Moonlight Ramblers in Oil City and later the Meadville Mountaineers.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 12 years, include a daughter, Helen Young and her husband, George Sr., of Galena, Mo.; four grandchildren, George Young Jr., Rebecca Keckler, Edward L. Young and Johnathan Young; five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Kelly of Rochester, N.Y.
In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by a sister, Olive Consla.
There will be a calling hour Sunday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at Van Matre Family Funeral Home, 335 Venango Ave., Cambridge Springs.
The funeral will follow Sunday at 3 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rod Beardsley of First Baptist Church, Cambridge Springs, officiating.

Robert J. Bradley
CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS - Robert J. Bradley, 68, a resident of Beverly Healthcare, Cambridge Springs for the past 13 years, died there Wednesday, April 18, 2001, following a lengthy illness. He had previously lived in Massilon, Ohio.
He was born in Lilly March 6, 1933, a son of Marvin and Cecilia Beck Bradley.
A veteran of the Korean War, he served with the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. After the war he began employment at Republic Steel in Massilon, and when the plant closed in 1972 he retired from there as head of the payroll department.
He was of the Catholic faith. He was a longtime member of Alcoholics Anonymous both in the Cambridge Springs Chapter and the Meadville Saturday Night Group and he recently received a 12-year Certificate of Sobriety from both chapters.
His hobbies included bowling, card playing, hunting and he enjoyed reading.
Survivors include six sisters, Elizabeth Bradley and Marie Thiess, both of Meadville, Carol Bradley and Irene Bates, both of Los Angeles, Calif., Diane Bradley of Lilly, and Kathleen Casillo of Hartsville; three brothers, Morgan Bradley and Thomas Bradley, both of Williamsport, and Gerald Bradley of Altoona; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Bradley in 2000.

Elizabeth F. Longberry
ANDOVER, Ohio - Elizabeth F. Longberry, 90, a resident of Miller Memorial Nursing Home, Andover, Ohio, and formerly of Tryonville, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at the nursing home.
Born in Townville Dec. 16, 1910, she was a daughter of Jacob and Sarah Lingo. She married William Baugher, who preceded her in death. She later married Hershel Longberry. He also preceded her in death.
She was a cook in the Maplewood schools and at Col. Drake Hotel. She also worked at Stone United Methodist Church in Meadville and Greenville Presbyterian Church.
She was a member of Tryonville United Methodist Church.
For many years, she wrote the Tryonville newsletter for The Titusville Herald.
Survivors include a son, Robert N. Baugher and his wife, Gretchen, of Williamsfield, Ohio; three daughters, Dorothy Jones of Titusville, Ruth Lott and her husband, Lee, of New Jersey, and Clara Longberry of Guys Mills; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Howard Lingo and Merle Longberry; a daughter, Marjorie Blair; six brothers; and two sisters.

Lorraine E. Wilson
CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS - Lorraine E. Wilson, 60, of 21112 State Highway 86, Cambridge Springs, died Thursday, April 19, 2001, following an extended illness.
Born in Meadville May 7, 1941, she was a daughter of Raymond A. and Jeanne Hodges Porter. She married Russel M. Wilson July 30, 1961.
Upon graduation from Cambridge Springs High School, she was employed for several years by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and, after her marriage in 1961, for several years as a receptionist for the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare in Meadville. From 1977 until her retirement in January 2000, she was a secretary for McGill, Power, Bell and Co., an accounting firm in Meadville.
She attended First Church of God in Meadville.
She enjoyed bowling and playing cards.
Survivors, in addition to her husband of almost 40 years, include a daughter, Cheryl Simmons and her husband, Roy, of Meadville; a son, Jeff Wilson and his wife, Lynn, of Meadville; two granddaughters, Amber and Kayla Wilson; a sister, Raetta Bechdel and her husband, Tom, of Cambridge Springs; and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Larry E. Porter.

Geneva Spear Lee
PALM DESERT, Calif. - Geneva S. Lee, 88, formerly of Meadville, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, in Palm Desert, Calif., at The Villas, an assisted care retirement home.
She had been a resident of Hemet, Calif., for more than 20 years and recently moved to Palm Desert.
Born in Moorland, Okla., July 8, 1912, she was a daughter of W. John and Daisy Berkshire Spear. When she was 2, the family moved to Meadville where she grew up and attended Meadville High School.
She was married to Howard (Bennie) Lee for nearly 20 years before his death in 1971.
She worked at Woolworth in Meadville and later as a dental assistant in Phoenix, Ariz.
A member of the Eastern Star in Kernville, Calif., she loved to travel and had belonged to a group of single RVers who traveled throughout the United States.
Survivors include a son, Robert L. Jones and his wife, Charlene, of Palm Desert; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, John C. Spear of Fullerton, Calif.; a niece; six nephews; and numerous great-nephews and great-nieces.
She is also survived by her first husband, Lawrence (Larry) W. Jones of Renton, Wash., formerly of Meadville.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harry E. Spear.
The funeral was April 9 in Rose Hills Memorial Cemetery, Whittier, Calif. Her nephew, Roger Spear, officiated.

Rose Frisina
Rose Frisina, 85, of 1089 S. Main St., Meadville, died Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at Meadville Medical Center.
She was born in Meadville Oct. 8, 1915, a daughter of Joseph and Girolema Marchese Frisina.
She attended Meadville High School and was a production worker with Talon Inc. for 32 years.
She was a member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church.
Survivors include three brothers, Frank J. Frisina and John Frisina, both of Meadville, and Joe Frisina of Colorado; a sister, Marian Orlando and her husband, Frank, of Meadville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Josephine Barretta; and four brothers, Gasper, Philip, Sam and Tony Frisina.

Linda Mallon Keir
BEN AVON - Linda Mallon Keir of Ben Avon, and formerly of Conneaut Lake, died Monday, April 16, 2001.
She was a daughter of Carl W. and Ethel C. Mallon. She married Robert I. Keir.
A graduate of Conneaut Lake High School and Westminster College, she earned her CPCU in insurance and was formerly employed by Hillman Corp.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include her mother; three brothers, William, Jeff and Mark Mallon; a sister, Nancy Zabaloieff; six nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her father.

Paul Edward (Ed) Walls
Paul Edward (Ed) Walls, 74, of 12235 State Highway 98, Meadville, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown, following a period of declining health.
He was born in Meadville Oct. 5, 1926, a son of Joseph H. and Gwendola M. Sutton Walls Sr. He married Muriel P. Mathews Dec. 13, 1943.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served from 1944 to 1946. He retired in 1986 from the Erie Railroad following 37 years of service doing reclamation work. He also worked in the maintenance department at Canto Tool Company for many years.
He was a member of Meadville Elks Lodge 219, Meadville Eagles Aerie 423, the Meadville Club, Harm Jan Huidekoper Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, West Mead Volunteer Fire Department 2, Vernon Central Volunteer Fire Department and Crawford County Auxiliary Police. He especially enjoyed hunting.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 57 years, include two sons, Jack I. Walls and his wife, Patricia, of Meadville, and William E. Walls and his wife, Juanita of Conneautville; two daughters, Sandra L. Burns and her husband, Jack, of Meadville, and Patricia A. Rossi and her companion, Jeff Mosbacher, of Meadville; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Jane Davern and her husband, William, of Meadville; four brothers, Jerry Walls and his wife, Joanne, of Meadville, Jack Walls and his wife, Florence, of Blooming Valley, Waldon Walls and his wife, Phyllis, of Lincoln, Neb., and Robert Walls and his wife, Ruby, of Grand Valley; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaretta Jean Walls and Anna Mae Walls; and a brother, Joseph Walls.

SAEGERTOWN - Audrey R. Hunt, 78, of Saegertown, and formerly of Titusville and Meadville, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at Quality Living Center, Saegertown.
She was born in Athens Township, Crawford County, May 17, 1922, the daughter of Grant and Eva Anderson Hunt.
Survivors include her guardian, George Bell of Centerville, and several cousins.

George Edward Saulsgiver
STALEY, N.C. - George Edward Saulsgiver, 80, of 5855 Willard Road, Staley, N.C., and formerly of Townville and Little Cooley, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at the Evergreens in Greensboro, N.C.
He was born in Pleasantville, a son of George and Lidia Saulsgiver. He married Eleanor Mae Baker Jan. 1, 1942.
A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he worked as a maintenance man at Liberty Chair, Liberty, N.C.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Liberty. He enjoyed making things out of wood.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 59 years at home, include a daughter, Dianne Connick of Las Vegas, Nev.; a son, George E. (Tyke) Saulsgiver and his wife, Patricia, of Guys Mills; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a half sister, Virginia Black of Oil City.
Services took place April 11 in Liberty.
Burial was in Staley Cemetery.

Lawrence E. Donahue
CONNEAUTVILLE - Lawrence E. Donahue, 52, of 6558 Turkey Track Road, Conneautville, died Monday, April 16, 2001, at Brookville Hospital after an extended illness.
He was born in Pittsburgh Feb. 5, 1949, a son of James and Eleanor Schmidt Donahue.
A Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he was disabled and had worked as a laborer.
He was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Johnson and her husband, John, of Conneautville; a son, Jon Snyder of Titusville; two grandchildren, Jeffery and Joanna Johnson; three sisters, Theresa Savukynas of Mesa, Ariz., and Rose Wetzel and Mary Shankle, both of Pittsburgh.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jim and Earl Donahue.

Darlene K. Laird
LINESVILLE - Darlene K. Laird, 48, of Linesville, died at her home Tuesday, April 17, 2001, after a valiant battle with cancer.
She was born in Steubenville, Ohio, Oct. 28, 1952, a daughter of John T. and Mary Kathryn Thompson. She married Robert M. Laird May 21, 1983 in Linesville. He preceded her in death May 23, 1999.
She had been employed by Zehrco Plastic of Ashtabula, Ohio, Inlet Valley Greenhouse of Harmonsburg and, most recently, with the Little Lions Learning Center, Linesville.
She was a member of Harmonsburg Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed pony pulling, draft horses, ceramics and gardening. Her biggest pleasure was being a wonderful grandmother to her grandchildren.
Survivors include her mother, Mary Kathryn Cassesa of Jefferson, Ohio; her father, John T. Thompson and his wife, Fran, of Geneva, Ohio; two sons, Scott R. Laird and his wife, Jennifer L., and Douglas P. Laird and his friend, Jessica Call, all of Linesville; four grandchildren, Courtney, Matthew, Kristen and Brendan Laird; three sisters, Karen Spiker and her husband, Ralph, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Barb Aliff and her husband, Calvin, of Austinburg, Ohio, and Mae Lapole and her husband, Gary, of Frederick, Md.; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Dominic Cassesa.

Dorthy M. Jibson
FREMONT, Mich. - Dorthy M. Jibson, 86, a resident of Fremont Medical Facility, Fremont, Mich., died Saturday, April 14, 2001.
Born in Cedar Creek Township, Mich., March 3, 1915, she was a daughter of Anson and Lois Vanderboegh. She married Howard Jibson, who preceded her in death.
She was self-employed.
She was a member of the Moose Club for 50 years and its auxiliary. She loved music, cooking and feeding the neighborhood cats and dogs on her back porch. She was an avid crocheter.
Survivors include two daughters, Lois Phillips of Michigan, and Lorraine Breth Marroulis and her husband, Robert, of Meadville; a son, David, and his wife, Jane, of Michigan; a grandson, Robert Phillips; three granddaughters, Jane Tatters, Theresa Smock Hollis and Kerri Siverd; four other grandchildren, Sandy, Kim, Stephanie and Philip; two stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Hink.
The memorial service will be April 27 in Fremont.
Iva Ruth Muckinhaupt
SAEGERTOWN - Iva Ruth Muckinhaupt, 93, a resident of the Presbyterian Home in Cambridge Springs and Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown, since October 2000, died there Monday, April 16, 2001. She previously lived in Erie since 1936.
Born in Cussewago Township April 20, 1907, she was a daughter of Ernest and Ruth Carr Muckinhaupt. She never married.
She was a telephone operator for General Telephone Co. for 44 years, retiring in 1972.
Survivors include two sisters, Freida Guttridge and her husband, Melvin, of Venango, and Mildred Sauers of Cambridge Springs; two nieces, Sandra Howles of Saegertown and Bonnie Lewandowski of Venango; and a nephew, Roger Guttridge of York.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Lester Muckinhaupt.

Barbara Lynn Borland
EVANSTON, Ill. - Barbara Lynn Borland, 57, of Evanston, Ill., died April 14, 2001, at Alden North Shore Nursing Home, Skokie, Ill.
She was born in Baltimore, Md., April 6, 1944, a daughter of Richard and Ruth Lane Duffus. She married Kirk Borland Nov. 16, 1968.
She lived in Meadville in the 1960s, was a graduate of Meadville High School and a 1967 graduate of Allegheny College.
A homemaker, she had also been a bookkeeper for various companies.
She enjoyed painting, and studies of American Indian culture and heritage.
Survivors, in addition to her husband of 32 years, include a daughter, Robin Kimberly Borland of Chicago, Ill.; a sister, Joanne Duffus of Raleigh, N.C.; and a brother, Richard J. Duffus Jr. of Vernon Hills, Ill.
The memorial service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Alice Millar Chapel of Northwestern University, 1870 Sheridan Road, Evanston.
Burial will be private.

LACOMBE, La. - Marc E. Muntean, 60, of Lacombe, La., died at home Saturday, April 7, 2001, surrounded by loved ones, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Sharon Sept. 9, 1940, he was a son of Andrew and Hana Muntean. He married Dianne de Leaumont on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, 1991. His first wife, Gail, preceded him in death Oct. 16, 1980.
He was a 1958 graduate of Sharon High School and a 1962 graduate of Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. While at Miami, he was active in sports and achieved honors with a degree in chemistry. During his earlier years, he was an active member of the F.H. Buhl Club, enjoying many sports including handball, which he played throughout his life.
He also attended the U.S. Marine Corps Officer Candidate School, Marine Corps University in Quantico, Va., and upon graduation was commissioned second lieutenant. He served a tour of duty in Okinawa where he received the rank of first lieutenant.
Following military service, he accepted a regional sales manager position with Dupont Chemical Co., Wilmington, Del., marketing a new invention at that time, mylar polymer. He later became vice president and national sales manager of Kelvar Chemical Co. of New Orleans.
From 1972 until the present, he was president and chief executive officer of Gulf Coast Marketing Corp. with global headquarters in Lacombe.
A member of First Presbyterian Church in Sharon, he worshiped regularly at St. John of the Cross Church, Lacombe.
He was a devoted husband, beloved father and trusted friend to all who knew him.
With his family, he enjoyed world travel, many outdoor sports including running, triathlon competition, mountain climbing, white water kayaking and snow skiing, especially near their home in Telluride, Colo. He was also an avid lifelong reader and gourmet cook.
A frequent visitor to this area, he was particularly fond of his niece and nephew, Julia Hana and Andrew Muntean.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Heather Blodwyn Muntean of Berkeley, Calif., Dr. Erin Gail Muntean of Delmar, Calif., and Brooke Allison Muntean of San Francisco, Calif.; two brothers, Dean Muntean of Vancouver, British Columbia, and Rick Muntean and his wife, Dawn, of Meadville.
Funeral Mass was celebrated April 10 at St. John of the Cross Church.
Memorial and committal services will be Saturday at noon at First Presbyterian Church, 600 E. State St., Sharon.
Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Sharon.
Samuel Belfiore Jr.
GUYS MILLS - Samuel Belfiore Jr., 83, a resident of 12971 Maplewood Road, Guys Mills, since 1986, died at his home Tuesday, April 17, 2001, following a short illness. He previously made his home at RD 2, Cambridge Springs.
Born in New Kensington Jan. 20, 1918, he was a son of Samuel and Rose Mary Scozza Belfiore. He married Maybelle Julia Harmon July 20, 1940. She preceded him in death Nov. 9, 1986.
A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1945. Following the war, he was employed by General Electric in Erie for nine years, and beginning in 1957 he began vegetable farming from which he never retired.
He was a life member of American Legion Post 381 in Cambridge Springs and a former member of the Potato Growers Association. He loved the outdoors and was particularly skilled as a hunter, fisherman and trapper. He also enjoyed playing bingo.
Survivors include six daughters, Rosemary Griffin of Erie, Patricia Saulsgiver and her husband, George, of Guys Mills, Janita Seber and her husband, John, of Erie, Donna Wingerter and her husband, Ron, of Erie, Deborah Kirkman of Pittsburgh, and Jeanne Grudzien of Collins, N.Y.; eight sons, Wilson Belfiore of Meadville, David Belfiore and his wife, Lorie, of Romules, Mich., Gary Belfiore and his wife, Susan, of Saegertown, James Belfiore and his wife, Regina, of Erie, John Belfiore and his wife, Joan, of Cambridge Springs, Richard Belfiore of Erie, Daniel Belfiore and his wife, Judith, of Erie, and Anthony Belfiore and his wife, Eileen, of Lexington, Ky.; 55 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Lena DiFranco and Helen Swegard, both of Riverview, Mich., and Mary Miller and Susie Belfiore, both of Pittsburgh.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Bain, in 1991; a brother; and two sisters.

Catherine P. Hood
Catherine P. Hood, 80, of 560 Terrace St., Meadville, and a resident of Cordia Commons (formerly David Mead Residence Inn) since September 1988, died Monday, April 16, 2001, at Meadville Medical Center following a period of declining health.
She was born in Meadville Dec. 6, 1920, a daughter of George H. and Mildred Lupher Hood.
She was a graduate of Meadville High School, a 1943 graduate of Allegheny College with a bachelor of arts in classics, and received her master's degree in Latin from the University of Michigan.
She retired in June 1983 as an English and Latin high school teacher in the New Kensington School District, with more than 35 years of service. Previously she taught school in the Washington Township School District.
In her retirement she taught courses at Allegheny College and was a substitute teacher in Crawford Central School District.
A member of First Presbyterian Church, she taught Sunday school and was a former deacon, elder and head of the nominating committee.
She was a member of Mead Chapter Order of the Eastern Star; a member and past president of Meadville Women's Club; past president of State Women's Club; and a Meadville Medical Center Auxiliary member. She was a former volunteer of New Kensington Red Cross.
Survivors include a sister, Marion E. Baker of Meadville; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanne Hood; and two brothers, Richard C. Hood and Robert J. Hood.

Dominick D. Quindardo
Dominick D. Quindardo, 80, of 984 Alfred St., Meadville, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Meadville Medical Center.
Born in Derby, Conn., April 14, 1921, he was a son of James and Mary Cancara Quindardo. He married Jane Palmero June 21, 1947.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the southern Philippines and the western Pacific.
He attended Meadville schools and had been employed by the former Talon Inc. for more than 40 years in the pull-up department. While there he received an award for inventing a fastener that helped in production of the Talon zipper.
He was a member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church and as a young man served as an altar boy at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church.
His hobbies included landscaping and growing roses. A handyman, he could fix anything. He enjoyed his family and grandchildren, and especially making the holidays special.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 53 years, include five children, James Joseph Quindardo, and Thomas Anthony Quindardo and his wife, Lidia, all of Orlando, Fla., Donna M. Daughtry and her husband, Jerry J., of Eustis, Fla., Donald S. Quindardo and his wife, Donna L., of Meadville, and Joseph A. Quindardo and his wife, Glenda E., of Orlando; 10 grandchildren, Angela, Pamela, Jonathan, Nicholas, Ashley, Donald, Anthony, Dayna, Chelsea and Kayla Jo; a great-grandchild; three sisters, Marion Petruso, Jeanette Petruso and Louise Cervone, all of Meadville; and several nieces and nephews.

Larry E. Nesbitt
FLORIDA - Larry E. Nesbitt, 58, of Florida, died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at the Hospice house in Florida after a lengthy struggle with cancer.
He was born in Meadville Oct. 23, 1942, a son of Mark A. and Geraldine F. Horn Nesbitt.
A Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army, he was employed as a heavy equipment operator.
He enjoyed hunting at his camp and spending time with his family.
Survivors include two sons, Buddy Nesbitt and his wife, Sharon, of Michigan, and John Nesbitt; two daughters, Michelle Hawk and her husband, John, of South Carolina, and Kimberly Nesbitt Win and her husband, Rex, of Florida; a granddaughter, Alexis Hawk; two sisters, Ellen D. Nesbitt of Virginia and Brenda Faulkner of Ohio; a brother, Richard A. Nesbitt Sr. of Espyville; and a half brother, Harry Nesbitt of Cochranton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Larry Nesbitt Jr.; a grandson, Corey Nesbitt; and a half brother, Russel Nesbitt.
There are no calling hours.
There will be a private memorial service Sunday.
Emma E. Smith
CONNEAUTVILLE - Emma E. Smith, 92, formerly of Meadville and a resident of Rolling Fields, Conneautville, died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at her residence.
She was born in Meadville Oct. 27, 1908, a daughter of Edward and Della Brink. She married Dr. I.A. Smith and he preceded her in death.
She was a housewife and of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include her son-in-law, Frank (Bud) McKinley of Conneaut Lake; a grandson, Dana McKinley; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jacqueline McKinley; five sisters, Margeritte Peelman, Rose Welsh, Phoebe Rogers, Adolade Slobdonjak and Erba Headrick; and a brother, Albert Brink.

The memorial service will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Gene Boyd, retired Presbyterian minister, officiating.
Entombment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Mildred I. Lyon
GREENVILLE - Mildred I. Lyon, 80, a resident of White-Cliff Nursing Home, 110 Fredonia Road, Greenville, and formerly of Adamsville, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at UPMC Horizon Hospital, Greenville.
She was born Jan. 13, 1921, in Greenville, a daughter of Virgil and Stella Keen McGranahan. She married John M. (Jack) Lyon Nov. 23, 1939. He preceded her in death Oct. 24, 1994.
She was a member of United Methodist Church of Kennard.
She raised Boston terriers and canaries. In her earlier days, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and all types of sewing and crafts.
She made her family her life's work and, after the death of her daughter, became even more instrumental in the lives of her grandchildren and their families.
Survivors include two granddaughters, Judy A. Spencer and Joni Fedorczyk; a grandson, James L. Spencer; two great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Verle McGranahan of Adamsville and William McGranahan of Greenville; a sister, Vivian Smith of Florida; and a son-in-law, Charles L. Spencer of Adamsville.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Spencer; and a sister, Gloria Emmett.

St. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Robert E. DuPont, 81, of St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Cochranton, died Friday, April 13, 2001, at St. Anthony's General Hospital, St. Petersburg.
Born in Cochranton, Oct. 11, 1919, he was a son of Frank and Dora Mae Shoey DuPont. He married Neva Hines Aug. 15, 1941.
He was self-employed as a farmer in the Cochranton area. He last was employed by Langdon & Leveto Veterinary Hospital of Meadville.
He was a member of First Alliance Church of St. Petersburg where he was an elder of the church. He was a member of Cochranton Grange. He was an avid shuffleboard player.
Survivors include his wife of St. Petersburg; a son, Darwin DuPont and his wife, Tanya, of Cochranton; two grandchildren, Cindy Brumagin and Lisa Jackson; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Virginia Kough of Meadville and Violet Snodgrass of Deland, Fla.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold DuPont and Esley DuPont; and a sister, Marie Oakes.

LINESVILLE - M. Arlene Shaffer, 79, of Linesville, died Monday, April 16, 2001, at Rolling Fields.
Born in Summerhill Township, Oct. 13, 1921, she was a daughter of Fred Dearborn and Grace Griffiths Robinson. She married George W. Shaffer Nov. 26, 1941, at Conneaut Lake.
She was a 1938 graduate of Summit High School and a 1939 graduate of Meadville Commercial College.
She worked for the fund-raising office of Allegheny College, Pennsylvania Department of Assistance and Crawford County Trust Co. For many years, she and her husband operated G and A Tours using O.D. Anderson Coach and Tour of Greenville. Together they traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad. She also sold Stanley home products for 54 years.
She was a member and secretary of Linesville Grange 694 for many years, and a member of Crawford County Pomona, State and National Grange. She was a delegate to the State Grange many times. She was also a member and secretary of the former Linesville Rebekah Lodge 455 and member of the Conneaut Lake Rebekah Lodge.
A former member of the Linesville Historical Society, she also was a former secretary of Crawford County Juries Commission and past president and secretary of Dicksonburg Cemetery Association.
Survivors, in addition to her husband of 59 years, include a daughter, Katherine Auringer and her husband, Robert, of West Monroe, N.Y.; two sons, Gary W. Shaffer, and the Rev. Terry G. Shaffer and his wife, Beverly, all of Pittsburgh; five grandchildren, Charles and Robert Hummer, Allison Auringer, and Jacob and Nathan Shaffer; two stepgrandchildren, Drew and Annie Carter; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Grace Shaffer.

Wesley A. Hoover Sr.
SALEM, Ohio - Wesley A. Hoover Sr., 61, of 674 E. Sixth St., Salem, Ohio, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at his home.
Born Feb. 24, 1940, in Boggs Township, Clearfield County, Pa., he was a son of Robert W. and Mary Weaver Hoover. He married Alice A. McCrae Oct. 18, 1960. She preceded him in death Dec. 27, 2000.
He had been employed in the paint department at General Motors Inc.'s Wilmington, Del., plant for 23 years, retiring in 1991.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of First Christian Church of Salem.
Survivors include two sons, James Hoover and Wesley A. Hoover Jr., both of Ft. Myers, Fla.; two daughters, Cathy Merryman of Salem and Judith Welch of Hudson Mills, N.Y.; four grandchildren; a sister, Donna Shoemaker of Guys Mills; two brothers, Daryl Hoover of Coitsville and Lee Hoover of West Grove.

SAEGERTOWN - Geraldine Dine, 91, a resident of Crawford County Care Center in Saegertown since 1993, formerly of Cambridge Springs, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at the care center.
Born in Sugarcreek, Oct. 6, 1909, she was a daughter of George and Eva Messerall Record. She married Roy Kenneth Dine Oct. 6, 1938. He preceded her in death July 15, 1974.
She was a homemaker.
She was affiliated with New Richmond United Methodist Church before moving to Cambridge Springs in 1975 when she became affiliated with the First Baptist Church of Cambridge Springs. She was a former member of Our Lady of the Springs Rebekah Lodge of Cambridge Springs. She also was a very active participant at the Cambridge Springs Senior Center.
Survivors include a daughter, Irene Beebower and her husband, Gary, of Dallas, Texas; two sons, Kenneth G. Dine and his wife, Mary, of Cambridge Springs, and Clarence (Dutch) Dine and his wife, Marilyn, of Cambridge Springs; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a twin sister, Josephine Spitler of Meadville.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Irene Record, Mable Record and Mildred Sutter; and a brother, Ray Record.

William D. Henning
CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS - William D. Henning, 79, of 26767 Johnstown Road, Cambridge Springs, died unexpectedly at his home Friday, April 13, 2001.
Born in Pittsburgh, Aug. 21, 1921, he was a son of Karl Sorg and Marie Demmler Henning. He married Elizabeth Kinsloe Jan. 20, 1943. She preceded him in death Feb. 13, 1972.
He was an attorney.
He was a 1942 graduate of Pennsylvania State University and then earned his law degree from Duquesne University School of Law. During World War II, he was employed by the Civilian Army Place Ordinance.
He practiced law in State College and also worked for Federated Home & Mortgage and for Benchmark Realty Co., both of State College.
In 1980, he moved to Cambridge Springs, where he was employed by Meridian Oil & Gas, obtaining oil and natural gas leases and rights of way.
He was a member of the French Creek Conservancy and was a charter member of the French Creek Archaeological Society.
He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He also was a skilled pool player and enjoyed competing in various local pool leagues.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Giebelhaus and her husband, August W., of Atlanta, Ga.; a son, Thomas K. Henning and his wife, Elizabeth, of Cambridge Springs; a daughter-in-law, Molly S. Henning of Sewickley; and 11 grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, William D. (Mike) Henning Jr.; and a sister, Elizabeth Rowe.

Born in Altoona, March 18, 1922, she was a daughter of Joseph S. and Luma Eichelberger Douglas. She married William S. Moyer July 23, 1942.
She was a housewife. She was of the Protestant faith. She was a 1940 graduate of Altoona High School.
She is survived by her husband, William S. Moyer of Linesville.
