Rev. Gerald H. Murphy

Rev. Gerald H. Murphy, 87, of Meadville died, Wednesday, December 03, 2014 surrounded by his family at the Marquette Hospice House. He was born February 10, 1927 in Newport, RI a son of Michael Martin and Alice Helen Raftery Murphy, Sr. He married Mathilda Ruth Cunningham in the Baldwin-Wallace Chapel, Berea, OH June 21, 1956 and she survives. He grew up in Newport, RI graduating from its Rogers High School in 1945. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration in 1949, his Bachelor of Sacred Theology in 1955 and his Masters of Sacred Theology and Social Ethics in 1956 all from Boston University. He was ordained in to the United Methodist Church in 1956 and served at the North Saugus Union Church, Saugus, MA from 1954-1956, the Third Street Methodist Church, Williamsport, PA from 1956-1963, Beaver Methodist Church, Beaver, PA from 1963-1966, Harmony-Zelienople United Methodist Church, from 1966-1972, Fox Chapel United Methodist Church, Pittsburgh from 1972-1985 and Chaplain of Wesbury United Methodist Community from 1985 until his retirement in 1995. He served on many committees of the Western Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church and pioneered a workshop for persons experiencing separation and divorce through the Center for Human Development in Pittsburgh, designed and conducted a workshop on ministering to older adults and a workshop on spiritual dimensions of aging while at Wesbury United Methodist Community. He was a Pastoral Care volunteer at Meadville Medical Center, a member of the Meadville Round Table, the Tuesday Morning Music Group and the Wesleyan Covenant Group of Stone United Methodist Church. In his youth he enjoyed spending summers at the family cottage on the shores of Narragansett Bay in Middletown, RI and more recently at the family home in the Chautauqua Institution. He built the family sailboat JAMMR in 1971. He also enjoyed the trip to Israel, Paris and Brussels that was a gift from the congregation of Fox Chapel United Methodist Church in 1986 and his 50th Wedding Anniversary trip to England, Wales and Ireland in 2006. He enjoyed jogging and more recently walking, music, reading, crocheting and singing in the Stone United Methodist Church Choir. Survivors, in addition to his wife Mathilda Ruth of 58 years, include: a daughter, Aimee M. Doershuk and her husband David of Streetsboro, OH; a son, Michael H. Murphy and his wife Anne Marie of Wilmette, IL; six grandchildren, Nicholas, Jennifer and Kyle Doershuk and Devin, Bryce and Teagan Murphy and nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ellen M. Grauer; a brother, Michael M. Murphy, Jr., and a nephew, Robert M. Grauer. Isaac William Pineo
March 24, 1984 - February 25, 2015
Isaac William Pineo passed from this life on February 25, 2015 after a sudden illness. His unusual gift for empathy and his great joy in living will be sorely missed by his family and his many friends. Isaac was born March 24, 1984 to Atty. William Fletcher and Dr. Patricia Prather Pineo. He went to St. Mary's College of Maryland, where he met the love of his life and his wife-to-be, Rebecca Sawyer. They graduated together in May 2006, and were married later that month on the shores of Conneaut Lake. He then completed his education at Temple University School of Law, earning a J.D. degree in 2009. Isaac spent one year honing his “big-city” legal skills in the firm of Aivazoglu & Mikropoulos in Philadelphia. In 2010, he returned to Meadville to join the Prather Law Firm. In 2013 he established his own general civil practice and criminal defense practice, Pineo Law, and became a part-time assistant Public Defender as well. He was fast earning a reputation as an aggressive and effective defense attorney. He frequently attributed his success in the courtroom to the guiding spirit of his great grandfather, Judge Thomas Jefferson Prather, whose picture hangs in Courtroom I. During those years, Isaac and Becky also added a dog and two wonderful sons to their burgeoning household. Isaac loved his boys immensely. He also loved hiking, hunting, being outdoors, working in the garden, and generally communing with nature. One of his fond hobbies was recovering a limb or a stone, and forging these raw materials into a primitive weapon. In addition he enjoyed collecting antique weaponry, such as swords, knives, bows and arrows, etc. He had an intense interest in Native American life and lore. In addition to his parents, Isaac is survived by his wife Rebecca, two sons Eli William and Sawyer Tecumseh, three brothers Dr. Thomas (Tania) of Greenville, Dr. Ross (Sara) of Meadville and Erie, Dr. Caleb (Nisrine) of Durham, NC, a brother-in-law Ryan (Connie) Sawyer of Orlando, FL, eight nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Pineo, Emily Pineo, Ellen Pineo, Sam Pineo, Rachel Pineo, Jessica Pineo, Zavier Pineo and Fletcher Pineo, numerous cousins, including Ross (Libby) Prather of Meadville, and many aunts and uncles, including Carol Prather of Meadville. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank Prather and June Prather Good, and Victor and Beatrice Elizabeth Pineo. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water Street, Meadville with Fr. WAYNE C. HEIMBROOK
December 7, 1944 ~ April 24, 2018 (age 73)
Wayne C. Heimbrook, 73, of Meadville, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Meadville Medical Center following a short illness.
He was born December 7, 1944 in Allentown, a son of the late Charles and Eva Heimbrook.
Wayne had been employed in the refuse industry and was a former auxiliary policeman in Dingmans Ferry, PA.
Survivors include three children, Barbara Kuncelman (Shawn), David Heimbrook (Kathern), and William Joseph Heimbrook, all of Meadville; four brothers, Robert Heimbrook (Dena) of Shohola Falls, Richard Heimbrook (Mary) and Dale Heimbrook of Dingmans Ferry, and Dennis Heimbrook (Carol) of Spring City, TN; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Services are private.

TYLER DONOVAN LEARN
January 6, 1988 ~ August 5, 2017 (age 29)
Tyler Donovan Learn, 29, of Saegertown, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017.
He was born January 6, 1988 in Meadville, a son of R. Brian Learn and Tina Weyman Taylor. He married Laurel Wrigley September 7, 2013 and she survives.
Tyler was a 2006 graduate of Meadville Area Senior High School where he excelled as a member of the Bulldog Hockey team and was a part of the 2003 state championship team. Tyler took extreme pride in working as a co-owner in his family business, Chipsco, Inc. He also enjoyed physical fitness and body building. However his greatest accomplishment was his family. Anyone who knew Tyler knows he was an exceptional father. On any given day he could be found dancing with his daughter or wrestling with his son. They were the light of his life and they in turn adored their father. Tyler was also a loving husband. There was never a day that went by that he didn’t kiss her and make her feel special. His presence will be irreplaceable. He would want all of his family members and friends to know that he spent the last five years as a family man who was genuinely happy. Home is where his heart was and always will be. Survivors, in addition his wife Laurel, include a daughter, Mayland Elle Learn at home; a son, Shepard George Learn at home; his father, R. Brian Learn and his wife Amy of Meadville; his mother, Tina Taylor and her husband Brad of Meadville; three brothers, R. Brian Learn, Jr. and his wife Courtney of Meadville and twins Kyle Mitchell Learn of Orlando, FL and Kevin Michael Learn and his wife Paige of Meadville; his paternal grandmother, Connie Learn of Meadville; his maternal grandparents, James and Jacqueline Weyman of Greenville; two nieces, Hallie Grace and Tenley Reese Learn; and aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, David Learn.

THOMAS S. GRUNDY, SR.
November 13, 1947 ~ April 29, 2018 (age 70)
Thomas S. Grundy, Sr., 70, of Guys Mills died at home Sunday, April 29, 2018.
He was born in Meadville, November 13, 1947 a son of Clarence G. and Ruth W. Applegate Grundy. He married Mary E. Poly May 3, 1969 and she survives.
He was a 1965 graduate of Randolph East Mead High School and a 1974 graduate of the University of North Florida. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the US Navy from 1967-1974 stationed in the Philippines, Antarctica and Jacksonville, FL. Following his military service he returned to Meadville and was the head of the Crawford County Juvenile Detention Center that was originally located on Water Street and then worked at the Crawford County Jail until his retirement in 2009. Tom loved to travel and visited all 50 states and Italy, Japan, Philippines and Antarctica. He also loved spending time with his grandsons and enjoyed golfing, fishing, target practice, woodworking and was very particular about maintaining his home and yard. Survivors, in addition to his wife Mary, of 48 years, include: two sons, Thomas Grundy, Jr. and his wife Jennifer and their sons, Joseph and Jonathan of Saegertown and Michael Grundy and his wife Shana and their sons, Troy and Ryan of Denver, CO; a sister, Phyllis Hank of Orlando, FL; two sisters-in-law, JoAnn Smith and her husband Tom of Saegertown and Linda Poly of Guys Mills, three nieces, a nephew and four great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, William Hank.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, May 2nd at 11 a.m. at St. Hippolyte Church, 25997 State Hwy 27, Guys Mills with Fr. Daniel Prez, celebrant.
Interment with military honors provided by Huidekoper VFW Post #2206 will be in St. Hippolyte Cemetery.

Tammy Leigh Young Eckenrode (Roschi)
February 5, 1967 ~ July 25, 2016 (age 49)
Tammy Leigh Roschi Young Eckenrode, 49, of Jamestown, died at home surrounded by her family, Monday, July 25, 2016. She courageously battled brain cancer since September 2014. She was born in Meadville February 5, 1967 a daughter of Wayne L. Roschi and Nancy Ann Greenalch Roschi. She married Thomas Eckenrode September 12, 2015 and he survives. She was a 1985 graduate of Meadville Area Senior High School and a 1989 graduate of Allegheny College with a BA in English. She earned her Associates Degree in Nursing from Butler Community College in 2008. She worked for PNC Bank from 1995 until she started working as a Registered Nurse at Meadville Medical Center in 2008. She was known for her wonderful laugh, smile and caring nature. She was an avid reader, enjoyed raising chickens, fishing and spending time with her family. Survivors, in addition to her husband Thomas, include: two sons, Corey Young of Meadville and Evan Young and his girlfriend Danielle Reisinger of Meadville; her mother, Nancy Roschi of Meadville; her father, Wayne Roschi of Tennessee; two sisters, Traci Latsko and her husband Jeff of Erie and Kelli Kraeling and her husband Kevin of Conneaut Lake; a brother, Scott Roschi and his wife Regina of Apple Valley, MN; a step-son, Logan Eckenrode and his girlfriend Melissa Stroup of Jamestown; three grandchildren Gavin, Kaylie and Aria; two nephews, Grant and Justin Latsko; a niece, Addie Kraeling; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tom and Margie Eckenrode of New Philadelphia, OH; two sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Eckenrode of Hookstown, PA and Mandy Slagle of Zoarville, OH; four nieces, Jenna, Gabrielle, Sam and Hannah, a nephew, Joshua and a great nephew, Maxwell on her husband’s side of the family and all her many wonderful friends. SUSAN J. (SUSIE) (MILLER) MACBLAIN
January 29, 1954 ~ March 21, 2018 (age 64)
Susan J. (Susie) MacBlain, 64, of Tidioute and formerly of Meadville, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018.
She was born January 29, 1954 in Meadville, a daughter of James L. and Florence V. Crafferty Miller.
Susan was a 1972 graduate of Meadville High School. She was employed at the West Hickory Sportsman’s Bar in West Hickory. She was a member of the Pymatuning Sportsman’s Club and enjoyed being at camp, canoeing, kayaking, antiquing, and playing bingo and euchre. Survivors include a daughter, Heather Lloyd of Meadville; her father, James Miller of Meadville; three grandchildren, Devin, Heaven, and Shane; a sister, Mary Byers and her husband Daniel of Guys Mills and their children, Erin, James and Justin; additional siblings, Everett, Dale, and Ava; several cousins including two close cousins, Laurie Wilfong and Jenny Neal; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and a son, Tyler McNeilly.
Family and Friends will be received Saturday, April 14th from 12 to 1 p.m. at New Beginnings Church of God, 13226 Leslie Rd., Meadville where a memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Sean Anthony Catalano, 28, of Meadville, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018.
He was born November 10, 1989 in Meadville, a son of Brian Catalano and Connie Clayton Mahoney.
Sean was a 2007 graduate of Saegertown High School where he was a member of the Panther football team. He worked as a machinist at Canto Tool in Meadville and previously worked at Acutec in Saegertown. Sean’s focus was his family and he was very proud of his children. Survivors include his father, Brian Catalano (Patricia) of Meadville; his mother, Connie Mahoney (Mark) of Meadville; a daughter, Carmen Catalano; a son, Dominic Catalano; his children’s mother, Alisha Hornstein; a sister, Vanessa Catalano (Michael Shoop) of Saegertown; maternal grandfather, Richard S. Clayton; paternal grandmother, Joyce Catalano; two nieces and one nephew, Natalie, Zachary, and Mallory Slee; five step-brothers, Jared Mahoney (Mandie), Marcus Mahoney (Cira), Rory Mahoney (Jaclyn), Allen Fultz, and Aaron Fultz; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Anna Clayton and his paternal grandfather, Robert Anthony Catalano.

Richard A. Stewart
April 26, 1934 ~ June 5, 2016 (age 82)
Richard A. Stewart, 82, of Meadville died Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Wesbury United Methodist Community. Richard was known fondly by friends and family as “Dick”, “Stewie” and “Gee”. He was born in Warren, PA April 26, 1934, a son of Edward Hyde and Mabel Rendall Stewart. He married Mae Cook October 29, 1960 and she survives. Dick was a graduate of Titusville High School (1952) and a graduate of Allegheny College (B.A. English, 1956 and M.A., 1966). From 1956-1958 he served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. Dick began his first job in 1958 teaching English at Jamestown (NY) High School. He then joined the Admissions Office at Allegheny College in 1960 as an Assistant Director. Dick remained at Allegheny for the rest of his career, serving as Dean of Admission, Dean of Off-Campus and Special Programs and Director of Alumni Affairs until he retired in 1999 after 39 years of service to his Alma Mater. Dick received with great humility the following awards and prestigious honors through the years: Pennsylvania Association of College Admissions Counselors Executive Board Award, 1987; National Association of College Admissions Counselors Distinguished Service Award, 1988; Middle States Regional Assembly of the College Board Bernard Ireland Recognition Award, 1990; the Allegheny College Robert T. Sherman Distinguished Service Award, 1997; the Allegheny College Alumni Award for eminent service 1999; the Robert Garbark Memorial Alumni Award of the Allegheny College Golden Gator Club, 2004; and, together with wife, Mae, a service and commitment award from the Allegheny College Alumni Association of Black Collegians/Association for the Advancement of Black Culture, 2011. A long-time dedicated member of Stone United Methodist Church, Dick served in a multitude of leadership positions, including Staff-Parish Relations Committee Chairperson, Church Council Chairperson, Lay Leader, and delegate to the Western Pennsylvania Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. He also played in the Carillon Bell Choir and led various church studies. Dick’s community involvement included serving on the board of the Meadville Public Library, membership in both Literary Union and Meadville Roundtable and active participant on the History and Heritage and Hall of Fame Committees of Allegheny College. An avid sports enthusiast, Dick cheered the loudest for the Allegheny Gators and all Pittsburgh athletic teams. There was never any question, however, that Dick’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family, attending sporting events in which his grandchildren were participating and playing golf with his sons-in-law and grandsons. Survivors, in addition to his wife Mae of 55 years, include: two daughters, Lynne Herrman and her husband Jed of Scarborough, ME and Karen Mitton and her husband Greg of Allentown, PA; his Fabulous 4 grandchildren, Katy Mitton, J.D. Herrman, Alex Mitton and Jenny Herrman; two sisters, Joyce Overheim of Edinboro and Marjorie Gaul of Allison Park and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Friday, June 24th from 4-7 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville. The memorial service will be Saturday, June 25th at 11 a.m. at Stone United Methodist Church, 956 S. Main St., Meadville with the Rev. Sarah Roncolato, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
