Major Irene H. Faulds
ESPYVILLE - Major Irene H. Faulds, 63, of Espyville, died Monday, June 4, 2001, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a short illness.
She was born in Buffalo, N.Y., May 26, 1938, a daughter of Thomas and Iva Harris Wood. She married L. Garth Faulds Dec. 2, 1961.
A graduate of Riverside High School in Buffalo, she attended the Salvation Army School For Officers Training, Bronx, N.Y. She was ordained as a minister in June 1959. The locations in which she served included: Lewistown, Pittstown, Monessen, Northside Pittsburgh, Connellsville, Jeannette and Meadville in Pennsylvania; Hempstead and Utica, N.Y.; Cleveland; New Haven, Conn.; and Newport, R.I.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Jeannette Chapter 69; and White Shrine of Jerusalem, West Moreland Shrine 18.
Survivors, in addition to her husband of 39 years, include four daughters, Malinda Klingensmith and her husband, Michael, of Meadville, Atha Faulds of Rochester, N.Y., Cynthia Lawrence and her husband, Christopher, of Newport News, Va., and Wendy Senior and her husband, Richard, of Buffalo; seven grandchildren, Tabatha and Taylor Faulds, Alyxandra Allen, Jacobb Faulds-Allen, Caleb Lawrence, and Sabrina and Jared Senior; two sisters, Elizabeth Knapp of Bradford and Evangeline Groat of Buffalo; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Samantha Joy Allen; two sisters, Marietta Armbuster and Catherine Grisby; and three brothers, Victor, Vernon and John Wood.
Calling hours will be June 12 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake.
The funeral will be June 13 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with Major Warren Smith of the Salvation Army officiating.
Burial will be in Espyville Cemetery.

John George McGuire Sr.
UNION CITY - John George McGuire Sr., 58, of Union LeBoeuf Road, Union City, died Monday, June 4, 2001, at his residence.
Born in LeBoeuf Township Dec. 21, 1942, he was a son of Emmett and Elizabeth Trojanovich McGuire. He married Leora Pulos Sept. 9, 1963.
A 1960 graduate of Union City High School, he was a state champion wrestler.
He was a longtime resident of Union City and worked for Christionsons Motors in Corry after graduation, then for Agway Fertilizer Co. in Union City. A deputy game commissioner, he also drove school bus for 13 years for Union City School District. He also worked for Urich Foundry in Erie as a tool and die maker, and owned and operated his own dairy farm on Lincolnville Road for 30 years.
He was a member of Moose Lodge 882 of Union City, a former member of Parade Street United Methodist Church and more recently of Temple Baptist Church of Union City.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, gardening and doing things with his family. He also liked jigsaw puzzles and card games. In 1990, he was a contestant on "The Price is Right" and won a car. He also held the 1988 record for Pennsylvania's beaver pelts.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 37 years, include two daughters, Leora Weilacher and her husband, Terry, of Union City, and Debbie McGuire and her fiance, Bill Holesapple, of Denora; two sons, Pastor John McGuire II and his wife, Pam, of Union City, and Pastor Dan McGuire and his wife, Jeanette, of Providence, R.I.; 12 grandchildren, John, Stephanie and Jennifer McGuire, Leora, Serena and Anthony Higby, Ashley and Adam Weilacher, and Aaron, Corey, Brittany and Nicholaus McGuire; two sisters, Sarah Waring and her husband, Boyd, of Linesville, and Janet Kelly and her husband, Chet, of Solon, Ariz.; two brothers, Tom McGuire and his wife, Jeraldine, of Waterford, and Claude McGuire Sr. and his wife, Kathy, of Waterford; and a sister-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Bob, Emmett and Rodney McGuire.; and a son-in-law, John Matthew Higby.
Calling hours are today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Temple Baptist Church, Route 97, Union City.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the church, with the Revs. John McGuire II and Dan McGuire officiating.
Burial will be in Rootville Cemetery, Bloomfield Township.

CONNEAUTVILLE - Cecil R. Williams Jr., 57, of Box 349, Conneautville, died Monday, June 4, 2001, in Buffalo, Wyo., after a brief illness.

Wilmot Thomas Bartle
CALDWELL, N.J. - Wilmot Thomas Bartle, 83, of Caldwell, N.J., died Thursday, May 17, 2001, at St. Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, N.J.
Born in Meadville, he was a son of Bill and Mildred Bartle. He married Dorothy Budd.
After graduation from Allegheny College in 1940, he moved to New York, N.Y., and earned a master's degree from Cornell University in 1941, then moved to Caldwell 32 years ago.
He was an administrative assistant for public services at the Newark Museum from 1970 to 1983 when he retired. He joined the museum in 1964 as a public relations supervisor. He was editor of publications, including "Arshile Gorky: Murals Without Wall" and "The American Art in the Newark Museum." He was an associate editor of "The Newark Museum Quarterly," and was listed in the 20th edition of "Who's Who in the East."
He was a chairman of the Museum Council of New Jersey, trustee of the Montclair Historical Society and a member of the Essex Fells Country Club, American Association of Museums, American Institute of Archaelogy and North East Museum Conference Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a cousin, Richard J. Noonen of Meadville.
Services were private and under the direction of Dancy Funeral Home, Caldwell.
Robert Dean (Bee Jay) Anderson III
SAEGERTOWN - Robert Dean (Bee Jay) Anderson III, 22, of Saegertown, died Friday, June 1, 2001.
Born in Meadville Oct. 23, 1978, he was a son of Robert D. and Vicki Rodriguez Anderson Jr.
He attended Saegertown Junior-Senior High School and graduated from Cochranton Junior-Senior High School in 1998. He had numerous jobs since graduating.
He enjoyed weight lifting, mountain biking and playing golf.
Survivors include his mother, Vicki Humes and her husband, Fred, of Cochranton; his father, Robert D. Anderson Jr. of Saegertown; paternal grandparents, Robert D. and Shirley Anderson Sr. of Oil City; paternal great-grandmother, Gladys Moffatt of Cambridge Springs; maternal stepgrandparents, Dolores Humes of Woodcock Township and Fred Humes of Meadville; three sisters, Brooke E. Anderson of Cambridge Springs, Lori Lynn Anderson of Erie and Morgan B. Humes of Cochranton; a brother, Jesse L. Anderson of Saegertown; a niece, Taylor Anderson; and a nephew, Cole Hunter.
He was preceded in death by a maternal great-grandfather, Charles Moffatt, in 2000; maternal grandmother, Emma Gene Rossi, in 1999; an infant sister, Jennise Maurice Anderson, in 1977; and a cousin, in 1987.

David R. Williams
GRETNA, La. - David R. Williams, 56, of Gretna, La., and formerly of Meadville, died unexpectedly Tuesday, May 29, 2001.
Born in Meadville Oct. 15, 1944, he was a son of Walter and Margaret First Williams.
He graduated from Meadville High School in 1962 and was in the U.S. Army 509th Airborne Division in Germany from 1966 to 1968.
He was employed by Talon Inc. in pilot production and engineering in Meadville, and then moved to Gastonia, N.C. He was also employed by B & D Sign Co. in New Orleans, La., where he worked as an artist until his death.
He enjoyed his cats, painting and collecting music, and was an avid fan of the Raiders football team.
Survivors include a brother, Danny, and his wife, Carol, of New Orleans; a sister, Linda Fialkowski and her husband, David, of Erie; and an uncle, David First of Meadville, who was his godfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The memorial service was Friday at Faith Christian Church in Gretna.
Earl Thomas Morrison
CONNEAUT LAKE - Earl Thomas Morrison, 83, of Rising Sun Estates, Conneaut Lake, and formerly of Clarks Mills, died Monday, June 4, 2001, at UPMC Horizon, Greenville, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Sharon July 14, 1917, he was a son of Edward and Leah Mullen Morrison. He married Shirley Hane Oct. 14, 1970. He was formerly married to Dorothy G. Elder.
He attended Hadley and Sharon schools and worked as a welder for Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad, retiring after 25 years.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served during World War II as a private first class in the European Theater, and also with the Coast Artillery in Bermuda.
He was of the Methodist faith.
He was a former member of Sheakleyville Oddfellows, Hadley Rod and Gun Club, and Pleasant Ridge Grange.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 30 years, include a son, Merle E. Morrison of Hadley; two daughters, Frances Ryan and her husband, Robert, of Mercer, and Carol McCullough and her husband, David, of Clarks Mills; two stepsons, Willard Moreland Sr. of Meadville and James Moreland of Conneaut Lake; two stepdaughters, Amanda Sturgill of Meadville, and April Shartle and her husband, Harold, of Conneaut Lake; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 16 step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harry Morrison of Sarasota, Fla., and Joel Morrison of Hermitage; and three sisters, Irene Thomas and Twila Morrison, both of Hermitage, and Jean Snyder of Franklin.
He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Gail Truschka; a stepson, John A. Moreland; and a stepgrandson, Earl Thomas Flora.

George W. Smith
CAMBRIDGE, Wis. - George W. Smith, 70, of Cambridge, Wis., died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at Fort Health and Rehabilitation Center, Fort Atkinson, Wis., following a short illness.
He was born in Westmoreland County March 27, 1931, the son of Samuel and Berta Rebecca Farlow Smith. He married Margaret Claeyssens.
He worked as a mechanic most of his life and retired from Mac Tool Co. in the Cambridge area.
He was a member of Willerup United Methodist Church in Cambridge, and a former member of Masonic Lodge 325 of Madison, Wis., and the Eastern Star.
He loved fishing, hunting, bowling, dancing and gardening.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 34 years, include two sons, David Smith and his wife, Pam, of Rockford, Ill., and Bob Smith and his wife, Annie, of Espyville; two daughters, Nancy Egli and her husband, Gerald, of Meadville, and Barb Seitz and her husband, Larry, of Conneautville; a stepson, Charles Twigg of Rockford, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Connie James of Rockford, Ill.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Lester Smith of Guys Mills; three sisters, Dot Mellinger of Dawson, Audrey Becktel and her husband, Keith, of Guys Mills, and Betty Anderson and her husband, Robert (Bob), of Sheakleyville.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Smith Jr.; and a sister, Verda.

William I. Smith
WILMINGTON, Del. - William I. Smith, 72, of Wilmington, Del., died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, from complications of diabetes.
He was born in Reno Oct. 8, 1928, the son of Paul E. and Esther Ray Smith, formerly of Meadville. He married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn E. (Bunny) Smith, formerly of Conneaut Lake.
His love of aviation led him to enlist in the U.S. Air Force in 1949 and was stationed in New Castle, Del., for more than four years.
He retired from Diamond State Telephone Co. in 1980, where he was an installer/repairman for more than 26 years.
He was a lifelong member of Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 240 and throughout his life enjoyed building and restoring home-built aircraft. He was currently building a Smith miniplane at home in his workshop and was almost ready to fly.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 50 years, include a son, William I. at home; three daughters, Deborah L. McVeigh and her husband, John, of Wilmington, Cynthia E. McGrellis of Wilmington, and Laura L. Quesenberry and her husband, Kennith L., of Hockessin, Del.; four grandchildren, Adrienne and Alex McGrellis, Tara McVeigh and Kenny Quesenberry; and a brother, Donley P. Smith and his wife, Gula, of Linesville.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Kay Bartlett Hovis.
Services were April 9 at Doherty Funeral Home, Pike Creek, Del.
Burial was in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, Del.

Mildred Edmiston
Mildred Edmiston, 95, of 370 N. Main St., Meadville, died Friday, June 1, 2001, at Grace Nursing Center of Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, after a seven-year illness.
She was born in Jersey Shore Jan 12, 1906, the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Mary Knapp Burtnett. She married Millard Frederick Edmiston of Jersey Shore Feb. 4, 1926. He preceded her in death July 4, 1979.
A devoted wife and mother, she spent her life as a source of strength and encouragement to her family. A housewife most of her married life, she also spent time working with children as a Brownie Scout leader in the 1960s and 1970s, a church nursery leader, and doing private duty child care for many years in Lake Wales, Fla., and Meadville.
Survivors include two daughters, Jacque D. Bryerton of Mill Hall and Billie E. Harris of Meadville; a grandson, Samuel J. Bryerton; a granddaughter, Pamula E. Rogers; and three great-granddaughters.
The memorial service will be June 16 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Park Avenue Extension, Meadville, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. followed by a light supper at 5:30.

The middle child of a family of seven, she was the last surviving sibling.
Louis Morandini Jr.
VANDERGRIFT - Louis Morandini Jr., 71, of 527 Sycamore St., Vandergrift, died Monday, June 4, 2001, at home following a lengthy illness.
Born in Vandergrift Aug. 14, 1929, he was a son of Louis Sr. and Margaret Zanotti Morandini. He lived in Vandergrift all of his life.
He was a graduate of Vandergrift High School and a U.S. Army veteran in the Korean War, serving as a sergeant from 1951 to 1953.
He was employed by Schenley Distillery for 38 years retiring in 1984, and worked part time for the Donghia Lumber Co. in Vandergrift for 13 years.
A member of St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church in Vandergrift, he was also a member of the Bari Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Vandergrift.
He was very interested in sports and was especially a great hockey fan. He also enjoyed golf, baseball and basketball, and was a member of the Vandergrift Golf Club.
His best quality was his real love for helping others.
Survivors include a brother, Andrew Morandini and his wife, Vicki, of Meadville; a sister-in-law, Betty Morandini of Leechburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James Morandini, in 1970.

Geraldine S. Robinson
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Geraldine S. Robinson, 76, of 306 Lake Evelyn Drive, West Palm Beach, Fla., died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at Good Samaritan Medical Center, West Palm Beach, after a brief illness. She had lived in Woodcock Borough and in Erie prior to 1957, when she became a resident of Florida.
Born in Erie on Aug. 31, 1924, she was a daughter of Clayton N. and Ethel H. Snow.
A music teacher in the Palm Beach County School System for many years, in recent years she was a representative of Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Florida.
Survivors include a son, Gary Robinson and his wife, Chris, of West Palm Beach; one daughter, Deborah Murphey and her husband, David, of Parker City, Ind.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Clayton Snow and his wife, Kathleen, of Saegertown.
Graveside services will be at Cambridge (Upper) Cemetery on Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Viktoria Berlik, pastor of the Gravel Run United Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Cambridge Cemetery.

Sister Eileen Marie Fahey
ERIE - Sister Eileen Marie Fahey, SSJ, 95, of the Sisters of St. Joseph Community Living Center, 5031 W. Ridge Road, Erie, died there Sunday, June 3, 2001.
A native of Ireland, she was a daughter of Michael and Mary Rowley Fahey.
In 1923, she migrated to America and settled in Erie.
A graduate of Spencer Hospital School of Nursing in Meadville with a degree as a registered nurse; she also studied at Duquesne University and St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Ill.
In 1929, she entered the Sisters of St. Joseph, celebrating her Diamond Jubilee in 1988.
As a registered nurse, she ministered at Spencer Hospital for 37 years, 20 of which she spent in charge of maternity. She also ministered for eight years at St. Vincent Health Center; 11 years at St. Mary's Home of Erie; and six years at the Villa Maria Motherhouse Infirmary, Rosary Hall. Officially retiring in 1981, she never lost her concern for the sick.
Survivors include two sisters, Rita Gray of Astoria, N.Y., and Catherine Clarkson of England; several nieces and nephews; and her religious community.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Michael, Patrick and Thomas E. Fahey; and three sisters, Nora McGoldrick, Theresa Minogue, and Mary Scanlon.
Calling hours will be today from 2 to 7 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the Sisters of St. Joseph Community Living Center, 5031 W. Ridge Road, Erie. A prayer service will begin tonight at 7.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in the Living Center's chapel.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Paul W. (Ike) Sires
UTICA - Paul W. (Ike) Sires, 80, of R.D. 1, Utica, formerly of Clarks Mills, New Vernon Township, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at the White Cliff Nursing Home in Greenville following a four-month illness.
Born in Franklin on May 25, 1921, he was a son of Joseph Henry and Edna Lily Bean Sires. On Nov. 21, 1950, he married Barbara J. Gravatt.
He was of the Protestant faith.
For most of his life, he worked in the feed-mill business. He worked for the former Vandervort Feed Mill in Clarks Mills, and subsequently was employed by the McCartney Feed Mill of Fredonia until his retirement in March 2000.
A draft horse owner and enthusiast, he enjoyed people and was especially fond of telling jokes and entertaining with his practical jokes and stories.
In addition to his wife of 50 years, survivors include three daughters, Patricia Jolley and her husband, John J. Jr., of Utica, Robin Arbuckle of Clarks Mills, and Kimberly Smith and her husband, Bradley, of Hadley; a son, James Sires and his wife, Andrea, of Hadley; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Clyde (Martha Jane) Foster of Franklin and Dorothy L. Socha of Oil City; and two brothers, George E. Sires of Utica and Harry D. Sires of Franklin.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, John Sires, Robert W. Sires and Joseph C. Sires, along with four infant siblings.

Margaret (Peggy) Gill
Margaret (Peggy) Gill, 72, of 719 Graff Ave., Meadville, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at Hamot Medical Center in Erie.
Born in Meadville on March 8, 1929, she was a daughter of Leo and Amelia McCavish Haugh. On Oct. 5, 1957, she married James E. Gill.
She was a member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church.
A 1947 graduate of Meadville High School, she was a member of the Meadville Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and did volunteer work for R.S.V.P. of Meadville.
For 28 years, she was employed by the City of Meadville Housing Authority, serving as executive director for the last seven years before retiring in 1994. In earlier years, she was employed by the former Talon Inc. and the former Northwest Trust Co.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years; and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia C. Levinsky.
There will be no calling hours.

Josephine L. Dubowski
ROCKY RIVER, Ohio - Former Meadville resident Josephine L. Dubowski, 84, a resident of The Normandy Manor of Rocky River, Ohio, for the past four years, died Friday, June 1, 2001, at Lakewood Hospital, Lakewood, Ohio.
Born in Franklin Nov. 1, 1916, she was a daughter of Charles and Maude Dunkin Cummings. On Oct. 17, 1942, she married Alex J. Dubowski; he preceded her in death Oct. 9, 1993.
A 1942 graduate of the Spencer Hospital School of Nursing, she worked in the hospital as a registered nurse for 30 years until her retirement in 1972.
She enjoyed traveling and reading, and she was active in all activities at Normandy Manor including bingo, ceramics and the Lunch Bunch.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Dubowski and his wife, Nadine, of North Olmstead, Ohio, and Lawrence Dubowski and his wife, Rebecca, of Meadville; two grandchildren, Michael and Melissa Dubowski; a sister, Geraldine Thomas of Cabot; one niece; and one nephew.
In addition to her husband of 50 years, she was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer (Bus) Cummings.

Thelma G. Theuret Bartlow
CORRY - Thelma G. Theuret Bartlow, 87, formerly of 13363 W. Smith St., Corry, died Saturday, June 2, 2001, in the Corry Manor Nursing Home.
Born in Spartansburg on May 10, 1914, she was a daughter of Herbert and Mary Blakeslee Burton. Three husbands preceded her in death: Clare Theuret in 1967; Charles Pitkin in 1980; and Ernest Bartlow in 1999.
She was raised and educated in Spartansburg and later in Meadville, where she graduated from Meadville High School.
She attended the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Corry and was a member of the Watson Grange in Warren.
A homemaker, her main priority was raising and caring for her family.
She enjoyed crocheting, dancing and all types of crafts.
Survivors include six daughters, Mary Rockow and her husband, Robert, of Oshkosh, Wis., Barbara Williams of Beaufort, N.C., Martha Vanderhoof and her husband, Richard, of Spartansburg, Linda Peterson and her husband, Victor, of Fort White, Fla., Diane Kysor and her husband, Walter, of East Branch, and Juanita Bunting and her husband, John, of Texas; a stepdaughter, Janice Palmer and her husband, Maurice, of Williamstown, Vt.; five sons, Clare Theuret and his wife, Rose, of Youngsville, Charles Theuret and his wife, Nancy, of Garland, David Theuret and his wife, Diane, of Oshkosh, Dennis Theuret and his wife, Doris, of Corry, and Terry Theiret and his wife, Joan, of Enca, N.C.; 31 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lelia Eastman and Vee Raymond; four brothers, George, Philip, Glenn and Theodore Burton; and one great-granddaughter.
Calling hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Bracken Fruneral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry.
The funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. J. Lynn Cirigliano, pastor of Faith Evangelical Church in Corry officiating.
Burial will be in the Trimms Corners Cemetery in Eldred Township, Warren County.

Merle S. Krotzer
Merle S. Krotzer, 87, of 426 Fairmont Ave., Meadville, died at his home Saturday, June 2, 2001.
Born in Meadville on June 11, 1913, he was a son of Earl H. and Nellie Stanton Krotzer. He married Mildred Poloskey, who preceded him in death in 1967.
He was a member of Stone United Methodist Church.
A graduate of Meadville High School, he was a draftsman at Westinghouse Electric. He later owned and serviced jukebox and vending machines and also sold advertising for the Ketterer Company.
He studied health and nutrition for many years.
Survivors include a daughter, Judith A. Hart of Meadville; one granddaughter, Laura Domowicz of Venango; a grandson, Kevin Hart of Meadville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, James M. Krotzer.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Stone United Methodist Church, 956 S. Main St., Meadville, with the Rev. William L. Brown, minister, officiating.
Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery.

Anne Reich Bulger
Anne Reich Bulger, 86, of 557 Chestnut St., Meadville, died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at Meadville Medical Center.
Born Nov. 24, 1914, in Wilkinsburg, she was a daughter of John Edgar and Edna Ruhe Reich. On March 19, 1937, she married Samuel A. Bulger, who preceded her in death July 27, 1974.
She attended Christ Church Episcopal.
Before retiring in 1985, she was a secretary and office manager for the late attorney J. Perry Eckels and his partners for 30 years.
A member of the Meadville Women's Club, Legal Secretaries and Vernon Group, she was a former charter member of both Meadville and Vernon Lioness clubs.
Survivors include two cousins, Joseph M. Kock Jr. of Bellevue, Wash., and Lois M. Norton of New Hartford, Conn.

Josephine D. Fernacz
CONNEAUT LAKE - Josephine D. Fernacz, 70, of 11376 Crestwood Ave., Conneaut Lake, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at Meadville Medical Center following a sudden illness.
Born March 19, 1931, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of Joseph and Josephine Titir Seidel. She married Michael J. Fernacz on June 18, 1966.
A homemaker, she was a member of Our Lady Queen of the Americas Roman Catholic Church and a former member of the church's Altar and Rosary Society.
In addition to her husband of 34 years, survivors include several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Leo, Harry an Walt Seidel; and a sister, Helen Seidel.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. - Former Meadville resident Alfred Scott Widmann, 89, of 22B Country Club Drive, New Smyrna Beach, Fla., died Friday, June 1, 2001.
He was born Dec. 24, 1911, in Butler.
A former Veteran's Administration field representative, he served in the armed forces and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
He was a member of New Smyrna Beach Masonic Lodge 149, Scottish Rite, Bahia Shrine, New Smyrna Beach Shrine Club and American Legion Post 17.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mima; three sons, A. Scott Widmann of Hollywood, Md., and Jeffrey B. Widmann and Robert Widmann, both of New Smyrna Beach; and one grandchild.
A memorial service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Country Club Chalets, Wayne Avenue, New Smyrna Beach.

LINESVILLE - Former Cleveland resident Dorothy Ann Husak Warden, 77, of 377 E. Erie St., Linesville, died Friday, June 1, 2001, at Meadville Medical Center following a long illness.
Born Jan. 29, 1924, in Cleveland, she was a daughter of Vincent and Dora Gretchko Husak.
A homemaker, she was a member of St. Procop Roman Catholic Church in Cleveland.
Survivors include a daughter, Diane Johnson of Linesville; one brother, Anthony Husak and his wife, Rose, of Sun City, Ariz.; four granddaughters, Mrs. Brian (Janette) Sterlitz, Mrs. Mauricio (Jennifer) Campos, Mrs. Eric (Christine) Brinker and Jamie Johnson; three great-grandchildren; three nephews; and one niece.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Wednesday at St. Procop Roman Catholic Church in Cleveland with the Rev. Payton as celebrant.

Shirley Ann Lippert
Shirley Ann Lippert, 61, of 11300 Oakgrove Ave., Meadville, died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at Meadville Medical Center's Grove Street facility.
Born in Guys Mills on March 12, 1940, she was a daughter of Steve and Helen Kotermanski Lojek. On Nov. 22, 1958, she married Roy J. Lippert.
She was a member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church.
A homemaker, she attended Randolph School and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Meadville Post 2006.
In addition to being a loving mother and grandmother, she loved taking care of people.
In addition to her husband of 42 years, survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Karole Jastromb and her husband, Brett, of Meadville; one son, Edward J. Lippert and his wife, Melinda, also of Meadville; six sisters, Dorothy Caneer and her husband, Floyd, and Ann Mae Krouse and her husband, James, all of Meadville, Sandra Wilcoxson of Phoenix, Ariz., and Patricia Mailliard and her husband, Charles, and Louise (Dolly) Werner and her husband, Dan, all of Conneaut Lake; Nine brothers, John Kotermanski of Pittsburgh, Steve Lojek of Butler, Stanley Lojek and Chester Lojek, both of Akron, Ohio, Frank Lojek of Guys Mills, Joseph Lojek of Prescott, Ariz., Eugene Lojek of Cambridge Springs, and Jack Lojek and Ronald Lojek, both of Meadville; four grandchildren, Joshua Jastromb, Matthew Jastromb, Brennan Lippert and Carleith Lippert; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Marjorie Lojek.

SAEGERTOWN - Gertrude A. Maynard, 89, a resident of Crawford County Care Center, 20881 State Highway 198, Saegertown, died there Friday, June 1, 2001.
Born Dec. 12, 1911, in Salamanca, N.Y., she was a daughter of Cornelius and Fannie Roff Callahan. In August 1929, she married Donald John McGill Maynard, who preceded her in death Jan. 23, 1983.
A housewife, she was a member of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Irene) Kiser of Greenville and Mrs. Raymond (Sally) Kennernecht of Meadville; two sons, Charles E. Maynard and his wife, Cathy, of Conneaut Lake, and David L. Maynard of Spanaway, Wash.; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband of 53 years, she was preceded in death by a son, James A. Maynard; two brothers, Daniel Callahan and Edward Callahan; and an infant brother, Cornelius.

Ruth Louise Wheeler
Ruth Louise Wheeler, Ph.D., 62, of 720 Bashore Drive, and Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, Meadville, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at home.
Born in Erie July 4, 1938, she was a daughter of Theodore Frederic and Bertha Louise Becker Wheeler.
She was a 1956 graduate of Academy High School and a graduate of Grove City College, where she received a bachelor's degree. She went on to earn a master's degree at Ohio State University and her doctorate from the University of Minnesota.
She taught at Grove City College and Augustana College, Rock Island, Ill. She was administrator of Grinnell College, Grinnell, Iowa, and associate vice president of planning and information at Allegheny College.
Survivors include her mother, Bertha L. Wheeler of Wesbury Hillside Home, Meadville; a sister, Mary E. Barker and her husband, Don M., of Groveland, Mass.; two aunts, Florence Magenau of Erie and Eleanora Gage of Cambridge Springs; nieces, a nephew and many dear friends.

Irene S. Schroeder
Irene S. Schroeder, 83, formerly of 628 N. Main St., Meadville, and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community since 1997, died there Thursday, May 31, 2001, following a period of declining health.
Born in McKeesport July 31, 1917, she was a daughter of Daniel and Suzanna Bartok Toboz. She married George W. Schroeder June 30, 1938, and he preceded her in death Jan. 31, 1996.
She was co-owner-operator of Willeys Car Wash on lower Chestnut Street, Meadville, from 1962 to 1971.
She attended Emmanuel United Church of Christ and was a member of the Gallivanters and the Hobby Club. She loved sports and was an avid competitor. She was especially proud of playing girls basketball while a student at Saegertown High School. She also enjoyed traveling, especially across the western United States.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol S. Prather and her husband, Mark, of Meadville; a son, George L. Schroeder and his wife, Mary, of Meadville; five grandchildren, J.D. and Ross Prather, Kathryn O'Connor, and Jessica and Jennifer Schroeder; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Elizabeth Griffin of Meadville; a brother, Edward Toboz of Winter Haven, Fla.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by eight siblings, Helen Bado, Daniel Toboz, Emma Orris, and Louis, Albert, William, Leslie and Eleanor Toboz.
The private family service will be Sunday at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville, with the Rev. Roberta Schroeder, niece, officiating.
Burial will be in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
James L. Bish
CONNEAUTVILLE James L. Bish, 67, of 5245 State Highway 198, Conneautville, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at Hamot Medical Center, Erie, after a brief illness.
He was born in Hannastown Aug. 1, 1933, a son of Vernon H. and Olive G. Long Pyle Bish. He married Donna I. Bisbee Jan. 21, 1956.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and worked at Elkem Metals of Ashtabula, Ohio, for 35 years.
He attended Palmer United Methodist Church. He was a member of Conneautville American Legion Post 615, serving as post commander in 1968. He was also a member of Scottish Rite Consistory of Erie, Zem Zem Shrine and Western Crawford Masonic Lodge 258 where he was master in 1961.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 45 years, include his mother, Olive Pyle of Kansas; two daughters, Beverly Starr Barickman and her husband, Timothy, and Patricia Ann Wright and her husband, Craig, all of Meadville; a son, James C. Bish and his wife, Debra, of Beaver Center; six grandchildren, Cassie and Jason Barickman, Holly and Tricia Wright, and James E. and Jared D. Bish; three sisters, Grace Kiser of Kansas, Ethel June Mullens of Florida and Olive Louise Molnar of Conneautville; three brothers, David E. Bish of Conneautville, Vernon A. Bish of Virginia and Walter H. Bish of Linesville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister.
Calling hours are today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at White-Cool Funeral Home, 1405 Main St., Conneautvile, where there will be a Masonic service at 6:45 p.m.
