Homer K. Etzweiler
MILLERSBURG - Homer K. Etzweiler, 84, of 990 Medical Road, formerly of Carsonville, died Monday, June 21 at the Susquehanna Lutheran Village. Born July 20, 1919 in Carsonville, he was the son of the late Claude and Edna Enterline Etzweiler. He was a retired farmer and machinist from the former TRW plant in Harrisburg. Surviving are a brother, Cleon Etzweiler of Millersburg; two sisters, Iola Keiter and Iona Keiter, both of Pottsville; and a nephew. Graveside services were held June 24 from St. James Cemetery in Carsonville. Arrangements were handled by Hoover Funeral Home in Elizabethville.

Edward L. Allison Jr.
HALIFAX - Edward L. Allison Jr., 62, of 112 Dimpsey Road, died Monday June 21 at his residence. Born in Harrisburg, he is the son of Edward Allison Sr. of Harrisburg and the late Ruth Himmelreich Allison. He was retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Surviving, in addition to his father, are his wife, Eileen A. Washinger Allison; a son, Robert of Millersburg; two daughters, Anita Reisinger of Newport and Sandra Bengel of Lenoir City, Tenn.; a brother, Allen of Camp Hill; two sisters, Kim Cruz of Middletown and Viola Finnicum of Philadelphia; and five grandchildren. Memorial services were held June 24 from Jacob's United Methodist Church, Halifax, R.D. Memorial donations may be made to: American Heart Association, S. Central PA Chapter, 1517 Cedar Cliff, Camp Hill 17011. Arrangements were made by Hoover Funeral Home in Millersburg.

Warren G. Williams
ELIZABETHVILLE - Warren G. "Googs" Williams, 82, of 233 Spruce Street, died Tuesday, June 22 at Harrisburg Hospital. Born Oct. 5, 1921 in Tower City, he was the son of the late Warren and Hattie Williams. He was retired from the Cumberland Army Depot and had worked in the past at the former Middletown Depot and Mechanicsburg Navy Depot. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Elizabethville where he served on the church Parish Life Committee and helped in the kitchen for various church functions. He also had memberships with American Legion No. 468 in Tower City; VFW Post No. 6343 in Elizabethville; Indiantown Gap Memorial Council; Lions Club; and DAV in Tower City. He was a vocalist for local band "After Hours," and in the past was a drummer for the Liberty Hose House No. 2 Band in Lykens. He was the widow of Ruth H. Hain Williams. Surviving are a daughter, Jaunita J. Batdorf of Harrisburg; two grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren. Funeral services were held June 25 from his church. Burial with military honors was in Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville. Hoover Funeral Home in Elizabethville was in charge of arrangements.

Elvin D. Morgan
Hegins - Elvin D. Morgan, 52, of 11 Reservoir Road, died Thursday, June 24 at home. Born June 26, 1951, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Betty Morgan, and was a 1969 graduate of Tri-Valley High School. He was a retired correctional officer from the Graterford Correctional Facility and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 575 in Valley View for 29 years and attended St. Andrew's United Methodist Church in Valley View. Surviving are his wife of six years, Edna M. Rice Morgan; three sons, Bryan K. Morgan of Ashland and Jeremy D. Richards and Christopher C. Morgan, both of Hegins; two brothers: Leonard D. and Barry L. Morgan, both of Hegins; a sister, Doris M. Morgan of Valley View; and nine grand- children. He was preceded in death a sister, Judy P. Morgan. Funeral services with military honors were held June 29 from St. Andrew's United Methodist Church in Valley View. Catharine R. Hoffman
HALIFAX - Catharine R. Hoffman, 89, of 69 Million Dollar Road, died Saturday, June 26 at her home. Born Feb. 20, 1915 in Dalmatia, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Edna Witmer Heckert, and was a graduate of the former Lykens Valley High School. She was retired from Homemaker Services in Harrisburg and was a member of Zion (Stone) United Methodist Church in Halifax and Millersburg Senior Citizens. She was the widow of Clair Wilbur Hoffman. Surviving are two daughters, Mary Catharine Willow of Halifax and Darlene Dolly Ludwig of Newville; a son, Eugene Miller of Manheim; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great- great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 1 at 2 p.m. from her church. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church, prior to services. Burial will be in Long's Cemetery in Halifax. William R. Bonawitz
MILLERSBURG - William R. Bonawitz, 73, of 172 Huntz Road, died Sunday, June 20 at Susquehanna Lutheran Village. Born in Upper Paxton Twp., he was the son of the late Paul and Dorothy Schwalm Bonawitz. He was retired from Harman Stove in Halifax, and was a member of Millersburg American Legion No. 326; Millersburg VFW No. 5507; and Lower Mahanoy Twp. Fire Co. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean war. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Russell. Surviving are a son, Tony of Berrysburg; four brothers, Paul Jr. of Harrisburg, Elmer of Farmington, N.M., Robert of Dornsife and Dale of Millersburg; four sisters, Marie Fetterolf and Betty Fulkroad, both of Millersburg, Virginia Matt of Akron and Doris Glace of Dalmatia; and a granddaughter. Funeral services were held June 23 from Hoover Funeral Home in Millersburg. Burial with military honors was in Riverview Memorial Gardens in Halifax. James J. Heckert Sr.
MILLERSBURG - James J. Heckert Sr., 83, a resident at Polk Personal Care Center, died Tuesday, June 22 at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Pottsville. Born Dec. 6, 1920 in Millersburg, he was the son of the late Emory E. and Carrie Schucker Heckert, and was a 1938 graduate of the former Hegins Twp. High School. He also attended West Chester Teachers College. He was a retired telephone installer for Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania and a member of the National Rifle Association. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Helen M. Freas Heckert; and a son, James J. Jr. of Herndon. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harle; and three sisters, Beatrice Huntzinger, Catherine Maurer and Pearl Boyer. Funeral services were held June 25 from Buffington-Reed Funeral Home. Lisa M. Nauman
Elizabethtown - Lisa M. Nauman, 43, of 215 West High Street, and formerly of Millersburg, died Wednesday, June 23 at Lancashire Hall, Lancaster. Born in Lykens, she was the daughter of Willard (Sonny) Wiest, husband of Diane Wiest of Loyalton, and the late Carol Harlan. She was the wife of Sterling C. Nauman for 23 years. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Mount Joy. She had been employed by Bell Telephone Company in Harrisburg and also by Union National Bank in Mount Joy for the payroll department for the Elizabethtown Area School District. She is also survived by a daughter, Alicia R. Nauman at home; a son, Jeff A. Nauman at home; a brother, David E. Wiest of Lancaster; a sister, Michele L. Hoffer of Hummelstown; a step-brother, Andrew Dressler of Millersburg; her step-father, Michael Harlan of Hummelstown; her maternal grandmother, Madeline Dietrich of Chambersburg; her paternal grandmother Esther Wiest and her step-grandmother Mahala Kehler both of Millersburg. The family requests that flowers please be omitted and that contributions may be made in her memory to Lancashire Resident Council, 2829 Lititz Pike, Lancaster Pa 17601 or to Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Drive, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604. Services were held June 28 by the Frank S. Miller Funeral Home, Elizabethtown.

Dorothy L. Erdman
Gratz - Dorothy L. Erdman, 75, passed away Thursday, June 24 at the Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg. Born in Wiconisco, she was the daughter of the late Hayden and Helen Houtz Bateman and was the wife of Clair J. Erdman. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Evangelical Congregational Church, Gratz. She is survived by a son, David H. Erdman of Halifax; two daughters, Donna L. Meyers of Millersburg and Lori A. Campbell of Elizabethville; two sisters: Marion Baddorf and Mildred Row both of Wiconisco and 13 grandchildren. Funeral services were held on June 28 at her church. Interment was in Calvary United Methodist Cemetery, Wiconisco. Memorial contributions may be made to her church at Route 25, Gratz, PA 17030. John R. Anna P. Snyder
LYKENS - Anna P. Snyder, 86, a resident of Kepler Nursing Home in Elizabethville, formerly of Lykens RR1, died Friday, June 25 at Harrisburg Hospital. Born Dec. 3, 1917 in Dornsife RR1, she was the daughter of the late Emerson and Emma Kieffer Morgan, and was educated in the Leck Kill area schools. She was a retired presser from the former Puritan Fashions in Millersburg and a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Elizabethville; Elizabethville Senior Citizens; and the Amalgamated Union. She was the widow of Guy W. Snyder, and also was preceded in death by three children, Melvin, Shirley and an infant son; two sisters, Vertie Heim and Grace Starr; and two brothers, John and Earl Morgan. Surviving are four daughters, Corrine Shade of Lykens RD, Nancy Bohr of Tower City, Mary Troutman of Elizabethville and Debbie Joseph of Millersburg; three sons, Robert of Shamokin RR1, James of Lykens and David of Elizabethville; three sisters, Marie Weaver of Halifax, Ruth Weaver of Kissimmee, Fla., and Mary Morgan of Valley View; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held June 29 from her church. Burial was in Riverview Memorial Gardens in Halifax. TOWER CITY - Judith A. Bailey, 60, of 47 S. Hand St., died Sunday, June 20 at her home. Born Feb. 3, 1944 in Tower City, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth R. and Mary L. Knarr Thompson, and was a graduate of the former Porter-Tower High School and Franklin Academy. She was employed as a medical assistant at the office of Dr. William Nasuti in Tower City. She was of the Protestant faith. She was the widow of Lance "Nitz" Bailey. Surviving are a brother, Gerald Thompson of Tower City; two sisters, Beth Shive of Williamstown and Brenda Thompson of Tower City; a niece, a great-niece and a nephew. Private services were held at the convenience of the family. Burial was in St. Peter's Cemetery in Orwin. Memorial donations may be made to: American Cancer Society, 16 N. Betty I. Lebo
HALIFAX - Betty I. Lebo, 75, of 1397 N. River Road, died Tuesday, June 22 at the Carolyn Croxton Slane hospice residence in Harrisburg. Born in Loyalton, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mary Lebo Killinger. She was a retired beautician from the former Minnie Rutter's beauty salon in Millersburg, and a member and pianist at Faith United Methodist Church in Fisherville. She was the widow of Albert Lebo, and also was preceded in death by her step-father, Leroy Shepley; and a half-brother, Lee Shepley. Surviving are a step-brother, Jack Shepley of Lykens; and nieces and nephews. Services were held June 25 from Hoover Funeral Home in Millersburg. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery. Irvin E. Wolfgang
WILLIAMSTOWN - Irvin E. Wolfgang, 76, of Harrisburg, formerly of Williams-town, died Monday, June 21 at Harrisburg Hospital. Born Aug. 24, 1927 in Spring Glen, he was the son of the late Thomas Wolfgang and Tillie Welker Wolfgang Mausser. He was a U.S. Navy veteran retiring from the U.S. Army Base in Sacramento, Calif. where he served as a preservation packer. Surviving are his wife, Caroline Walton Brewster Wolfgang; five children, Lucinda Wolfgang of Harrisburg and Bradley, David, John and Clayton Wolfgang, all of California; two sisters, Jean Coleman and June Stutzman, both of Valley View; a brother, Thomas Wolfgang of Audobon, three grandchildren; a great-grandson; and nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life was held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery June 25. Memorial contributions may be addressed to the family. Neill Funeral Home in Paxtang was in charge of arrangements.

Nancy I. Deiter
Tower city - Nancy I. Deiter, 67, formerly of Tower City and Lykens died Thursday, June 24 at the Hershey Medical Center. Born in Clarks Valley on December 15, 1936, she was the daughter of the late John and Susan Adams Deiter. She was a retired seamstress from the garment industry. Surviving are two daughters, Marie A. Trayer of Williamstown and Sherry L. Romberger of Tower City and a son, Nathan J. Michaels of Williamstown; a sister Elsie Klingman of Auburn and five grandchildren. Services were held and burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery in Tower City. Memorial contributions may be made to Spring Creek Residence Activity Fund, 1205 S. 28th Street, Harrisburg PA 17111.

MILLERSBURG - Ethel A. Alvord,76, of 1286 Route 209 died Friday June 25, 2004 at her residence. Born in Wiconisco, she was the daughter of the late John and Mrytle Hoffman Osman. She was a retired sales clerk from Sears. She was the widow of Donald O. Alvord. Surviving are a daughter, Virginia Alvord Clark of Tacoma, Wash.; four brothers, Edward Osman of Harrisburg, Eugene Osman of Keystone, Colo., Donald Osman of Camp Hill and Jay Osman of Landisburg; two sisters, Joan Stahl of Gilford, Conn., and Carole Jordan of Lock Haven. Memorial services will be held Thursday, July 1 at 10:30 a.m. from Hoover Funeral Home in Millersburg. Burial will be in Calvary United Methodist Cemetery in Wiconisco.
