Robert D. Lehman Sr.
MILLERSBURG - Robert D. Lehman Sr., 75, of 135 Moore St., died Friday, Aug. 27 at his residence. Born in Elizabethville, he was the son of the late Harry and Dorothy Eberly Lehman. He was a retired business owner of Lehman's Hardware in Millersburg, and was a member of Millersburg Fire Co. for 54 years, where he served as fire chief for 30 years. He was a former member of the Jaycees and Millersburg Lions Club, and a co-founder of the Millersburg Little League. Surviving are his wife, Mary A. Klinger Lehman; a son, Robert D. Jr. of Millersburg; two daughters, Stephanie Berkebile of Mechanicsburg and Jan Ayers of Halifax; six grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren. Services were held Sept. 2 from Hoover Funeral Home in Millersburg. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Millersburg. Thomas Huntzinger
Valley View - Thomas Lee Huntzinger, 57, of West Main St., died Monday, Aug. 30 at his home. Born March 17, 1947 in Pottsville, he was the son of the late Wayne A. and Sarah L. Herb Huntzinger, and was a 1965 graduate of Tri-Valley High School. He was a maintenance Tech for MD&A of St. Louis, Mo., and was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Hegins. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served as a sergeant during the Vietnam War. He served as former commander of VFW Post No. 8237 in Valley View and was a member of American Legion Post No. 575 in Valley View; Hegins and Valley View fire companies; and Valley View Gun Club. Surviving are a son, Brian T. of Pitman; a daughter, Tracy L. Vance of Valley View; two sisters, Anne M. Grose of Secane and Kim D. Miller of Valley View; and two grandsons. Funeral service were held Sept. 3 from Buffington-Reed Funeral Home in Valley View. Burial with military honors was in St. John's Cemetery in Hegins. Kenneth C. Kopp
HARTSVILLE, N.C. - Kenneth C. Kopp, age 75, of 617 Sailclub Rd., died Monday, Aug. 30. Born in Tower City, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary Sophia Schedle Kopp. He was a retired federal mine inspector and a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene; the Odd Fellows and the Masons. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Joann Smith Kopp; a daughter, Melissa Jo Row of Hartsville, S.C.; two sons, James K. of Big Stone Gap, Va., and John C. of Abermarle, N.C.; two sisters, Shirley Stuppy and Madge Troutman, both of Lykens; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sept. 1 from Norton Funeral Home in Hartsville, S. C. Graveside services were held Sept. 3 in Calvary United Methodist Cemetery in Wiconisco. Shaun D. Miller
MILLERSBURG - Shaun D. Miller, 26, of 1448 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, formerly of Millersburg, died Saturday, Sept. 4 in Upper Paxton Twp. Born July 15, 1978 in Pottsville, he was the son of the late Larry Miller Sr. and Marylou Feudale Miller of Halifax. He was a 1996 graduate of Millersburg Area High School. He was employed by Krehling Industry in Harrisburg and attended Trevorton United Methodist Church. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Megan I. Swinehart Miller; a daughter, Katie I. at home; two brothers, Larry Jr. of Millersburg and Dave of Halifax; a sister, Brenda Davis of Salisbury, Md.; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah L.; and a brother, Michael Feudale. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 9 at noon from his church, located at Sixth and Shamokin Streets in Trevorton. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Trevorton. DALMATIA - Katie M. Keen, 79, of Hickory Corners, died Sunday, Aug. 29 in Northumberland. Born Dec. 29, 1924 in Herndon RD, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Maude Krissinger. She was a retired garment worker, having been employed at various local factories. She was a member of Zion Stone Valley United Lutheran Church in Dalmatia. She was the widow of Ellis Keen. Surviving are a daughter, Donna Leese of Northumberland; two brothers, Robert and John Krissinger, both of Herndon RD; two grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sept. 3 from James A. Reed Funeral Home in Pillow. Burial was in Stone Valley Cemetery in Dalmatia.

Fred M. Matter
MILLERSBURG - Fred M. Matter, 86, of 141 Simmons Road, Mechanicsburg, formerly of Millersburg, died Saturday, Aug. 28 at Manor Care in Carlisle. Born in Elizabethville, he was the son of the late Mark and Myrl Reigle Matter. He was retired from the Millersburg Hardware Store, and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Millersburg; Susquehanna Lodge No. 364 F&AM; Harrisburg Consistory; Tall Cedars Forest No. 125; American Legion No. 326; and VFW Post No.5507. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Pacific Theatre, having served during World War II. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor and the recipient of the bronze star and bronze star with oak leaf cluster. He was the widower of Ruth Albert Matter. Surviving are a daughter, Karen Storm of Mechanicsburg; a son, Kurt of Millersburg; and a sister, Joanne Ledane of Ft. Myers, Fla. Memorial services with Masonic rites were held Sept. 2 from Hoover Funeral Home in Millersburg. Burial with military honors was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Millersburg. Betty M. Fromme
Lykens - Betty M. Fromme, 80, a resident of The Kepler Home in Elizabethville, formerly of Lykens, died Monday, Aug. 30 at the home. Born July 31, 1924 in Lykens, she was the daughter of the late Thomas H. and Jennie Shoop Schreffler, and was a 1942 graduate of the former Wiconisco High School. She was a member of Lykens United Methodist Church; and Glen Chapter No. 425, Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Robert Fromme Sr.; two sons, Robert Jr. and John, both of Lykens; a daughter, Diane Klinger of Lykens; two brothers, Thomas and Frank Schreffler, both of Lykens; two sisters, Elsie Noggle of Middletown and Jennie Dodd of Greenville, S.C.; three grandchildren; and seven great-grand- children. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by six brothers, James, Harold, John, Clyde, Henry and Glenn Schreffler; and three sisters, Kathryn Schreffler, Elma Paul and Dorothy Sandt. TOWER CITY - Kay M. Houtz, 70, of 1506 E. Colliery Ave., died Thursday, Sept. 2 at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Pottsville. Born Sept. 9, 1933 in Tower City, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Mattie Hand Underkoffler, and was a graduate of the former Tower City High School. She was a retired cafeteria worker from Williams Valley School District, and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church; the church choir; and Eastern Star, Glen Chapter in Lykens. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Earl, Fred, Lloyd and Paul Underkoffler; and three sisters, Ruth Yoder, Marie Klinger and Rachel Miller. Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Donald R.; a son, Timothy W. Etters; a daughter, Kathy A. Bordner of Palmyra; two sisters, Thelma Byerly of Millersburg and Merle Otto of Jonestown; a brother, Craig Underkoffler of Tower City; and three grandchildren. Goldie I. Wilkinson
DORNSIFE - Goldie I. Wilkinson, 94, of RR1, died Sunday, Aug. 29 at her home. Born Oct. 28, 1909 in Dornsife RD, she was the daughter of the late Jacob F. and Nora Ellen Byerly Tressler, and was educated in the Washington Twp. schools. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and gardening. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Red Cross and it's Ladies Aid; Idella Rebekah Lodge No. 58 in Dornsife RD1; and Herndon Senior Citizens. She was the widow of Alton S. Wilkinson, and also was preceded in death by two sisters, Daisy Snyder and Mary Warner; and two brothers, Charles and John Tressler. Surviving are two sons, Jacob Wilkinson of Gratz and Neal Wilkinson of Dornsife RR1; two daughters, Phyllis Bronokoski of Wrightsville and Lois Lenker of Dalmatia; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grand- children; two nieces and a nephew. Funeral services, along with a memorial service by Idella Rebekah Lodge, were held Sept. 2. Burial was in the adjoining church cemetery. DAUPHIN - Betty M. Shutt Malehorn, 71, of Dauphin, died Monday, Aug. 30 at her home. Born Jan. 12, 1933 in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late David and Gladys Stine Shutt. She was a member of Clark's Valley Zion Evangelical Congregational Church and Dauphin-Middle Paxton Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. She was the widow of Richard D. Malehorn Sr. Surviving are a son, Richard D. Jr. of Halifax; two daughters, Vickie L. Schwalm and Nancy R. Boltz, both of Dauphin; and seven grandchildren. MILLERSBURG - Norma E. Shiffer, 78, of 301 North Street, died Wednesday, Sept. 1 at Harrisburg Hospital. Born May 18, 1926 in Leck Kill, she was the daughter of the late William and Lillian Reigle Kahler. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pillow and a past employee of the former Pillow Shirt Factory. Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Fred C. Shiffer; a son, Tony C. of Elizabethville; two daughters, Linda L. Winterstein of New Holland and Rita M. Shiffer of Elizabethville; a sister, Katie Schreffler of Pittman; two granddaughters; three great- grandaughters; three step-grandsons; and four step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard S.; and a sister, Edna Morgan. Funeral services were held Sept. 4 from Hoover Funeral Home in Elizabethville. Burial was in Grandview Cemetery in Pillow. CAMP HILL - Stephen Gelencser, 74, of Camp Hill, died Sept. 3 at Holy Spirit Hospital. Born March 26, 1930 in Halifax, he was the son of the late John and Rosella Gelencser. He served as pastor at Church of the Open Door in Carlisle, and was retired from the former Rich Foods, Inc. in Harrisburg. He was the widower of Shirley Ann Feaster Gelencser. Surviving are two sons, Michael S. of Duncannon and Larry C. D. of Camp Hill; two brothers, John and Paul Gelenscer; seven sisters, Helen Silks, Margaret Jury, Martha Hoffman, Ruth Moyer, Rosemarie Harner, Nancy Spotts and Rosalie Eynon; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Viewing will be held Wednesday, Sept. 8 from 10 a.m. to noon from Hoover Funeral Home, located at 118 S. Market St. in Millersburg. Graveside services will be held 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Long's Cemetery in Halifax. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions toward funeral expenses be made to: J. J.
