KEVIN MICHAEL MODRO
Modro, 15, New Brighton student, dirt bike rider
Kevin Michael Modro, 15, of New Brighton, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, in Ellwood City, as a result of an accidental drowning. He was born June 5, 1987, in Beaver, to Donald P. and Beth Ann Modro of New Brighton. He was a student at New Brighton High School, where he played junior varsity football. He attended New Brighton Christian Assembly. He was an avid dirt bike rider and radio controlled car operator. In addition to his parents, Kevin is survived by his paternal grandmother, Jean Modro of Beaver Falls; his maternal grandfather, Carmine Surace of Florida; a brother, Donald P. Modro Jr., at home; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Albert L. Modro, and his maternal grandmother, Mary Jane Surace. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow in the Lutton Beaver Falls Funeral Home, 1117 Fifth Ave., Beaver Falls. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at New Brighton Christian Assembly with the Rev. Douglas Dragan officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, Big Beaver Borough. CHARLES W. "SCOTTY" SCOTT
Scott, 72, laborer, BF football trainer
Charles W. "Scotty" Scott, 72, of Chippewa Township, formerly of Monaca, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, at The Medical Center, Beaver. He was born March 21, 1930, to the late Harry A. Scott and Alvina Rex Scott Hredzak. Mr. Scott retired as a laborer from LTV Steel, Aliquippa, with 26 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He attended the Chippewa Community Center and was a football trainer for Beaver Falls High School for 11 years. He was a member of the Veterans Honor Guard; chaplain of the Highland VFW, Chippewa Township; and held a black belt in karate. An avid antique car enthusiast, Mr. Scott was also a registered massage therapist. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Doris M. Brenner Scott; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends will be received from noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Lutton Chippewa Funeral Home, 117 Blackhawk Road, Chippewa Township, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday. Pastor Anthony Peccon of the Cornerstone Christian Center, Chippewa Township, will officiate. Interment will be in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Daugherty Township. Memorial donations in Mr. Scott's name may be made to the Veterans Honor Guard Post 252, 238 Fourth St., Ellwood City, Pa. 16117 or Highland VFW, Chippewa Township, Box 1585, 376 Park Road, Beaver Falls, Pa. 15010. The Veterans Honor Guard will conduct a special service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and will meet at the cemetery at 2:45 p.m. Monday to provide full military honors.

ESTHER M. ALFERA
Alfera, 86, housewife, member of St. Agatha
Mrs. Esther M. Alfera, 86, of Hillview Manor, formerly of 431 Wampum Ave., died at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug., 10, 2001, in the Manor, following a lengthy illness. She was born June 16, 1915, in Chewton, to the late Anthony and Lucy Frezzo Cirelli. On Jan. 29, 1940, she married Joseph Alfera, who died June 30, 1962. A member of Holy Redeemer Parish, St. Agatha Worship Site, she was a housewife and formerly was a waitress for Demas' and Paz's restaurants. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, James and Mary Alfera of Ellwood City; a daughter, Mrs. Anthony (Linda) Camerot of New Castle; a brother, Frank Venditti of Ellwood City; two sisters, Mrs. Theresa Aromando and Mrs. Clementine Martucci, both of New Castle; and four grandchildren, Brian and Kevin Alfera and Mark and Tiffani Camerot. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Patsy Venditti, who died in 1968; three sisters, Mrs. Jean Magliocci, Edith Venditti and Antenette; and two brothers, Sam Cirelli and John Venditti. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, 309 Spring Ave. A prayer vigil will be held Sunday. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the St Agatha Worship Site, with the Rev. Mauro J. Cautela officiating. Burial will be in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.

PAUL A. SCHENKER
Schenker, 79, World War II veteran, retired teacher
Paul A. Schenker, 79, of 1880 LaClair Drive, Hickory Township, formerly of Skyline Drive, Ellwood City, died at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, in his home. He was born Nov. 14, 1921, in Ellwood City to the late Andrew and Mary Brenner Schenker. He married the former Dolores Mae Kaldy Sept. 10, 1949, who survives. Mr. Schenker was a life member for over 50 years of the Ellwood Lodge 599 F & AM. He also was a member Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Mr. Schenker graduated from Lincoln High School in 1939 and graduated in 1950 from Geneva College. He earned a master's degree at the University of Pittsburgh. He taught for 35 years before retiring in 1982 from Rose Ave. School in New Castle. He was the former teaching principal at West Pittsburg School. During World War II, Mr. Schenker was a corporal serving in the Army Air Corps as a weather observer and chaplain's assistant while serving in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Linda M. and James Griffith of New Castle; a son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Frederick P. and Joan Schenker of McCandless Township; and four grandchildren, John and Julie Griffith and Mark and Luke Schenker. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Joseph A. Tomon Jr. Funeral Home, 123 Fifth St., and from 10 to 11 a.m. tomorrow at Trinity Lutheran Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Martin T. Young officiating. Burial will be in Locust Grove Cemetery. Ellwood Lodge 599 F &AM will provide the lodge services at the funeral home at 7 p.m. today. The Veterans Honor Guard will conduct full military rites.

Gregory M. Drobiezeski, 42, of Ellwood City, formerly of Wexford, died Sunday, July 28, 2002 in Ellwood City. He was born Jan. 20, 1960, in Pittsburgh to Margaret M. Curtin Drobiezewski of Ellwood City and the late Paul X. Drobiezewski who died July 9, 1994. Mr. Drobiezewski is survived by three brothers and a sister-in-law, David A. Drobiezewski of Bridgeville, Paul G. and Janet Drobiezewski of Amherst, Ohio, and Gary C. Drobiezewski of Ellwood City; a niece, Noel Drobiezewski, and a nephew, Paul G. Drobiezewski, Jr. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home, 130 Wisconsin Ave. Cranberry Township. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9 a.m. tomorrow at St. Gregory Roman Catholic Church, Zelienople, with the Rev. Charles B. Bergman, church pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Gregory's Cemetery, Zelienople. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, 157 Elm Street, Butler, PA 16001.

PATRICK KOZORA
Kozora, 60, Army veteran, worked at B&W
Patrick Kozora, 60, of Detroit, formerly of McCartney Hollow Road, Perry Township, died at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, at the VA Hospital in Detroit after a lengthy illness. He was born in Michigan on Jan. 13, 1942, to the late Ellen Bookamer and Gabe Kozora. Mr. Kozora was a stepson of the late Charles Bookamer. Mr. Kozora had served in the Army and was a former employee at Babcock and Wilcox. He was a Catholic by faith. Mr. Kozora is survived by a daughter, Lori Terpilowski of Ellwood City; a sister, Ellen Anderson of Baltimore; a brother, James Kozora of Erie; and three grandchildren. He was interred in Michigan.

JOHN R. SCALA
Scala, 62, formerly of Wampum, horse trainer
John R. Scala, 62, of Hickory died Monday, July 29, 2002, following an accident while horse training at a farm in Chartiers Township, Washington County. He was born May 8, 1940, in Wampum to the late Andrew Scala and Mary Norge Scala. He worked as a self-employed horse trainer and was a Protestant by faith. Mr. Scala is survived by three brothers, Eugene Scala of Beaver Falls, James Scala of Beaver Falls and Joseph Scala of New Galilee; three sisters, Virginia Greco of Stuart, Fla., Phyllis McAnlis of New Galilee and Margaret Klein of Fairmont, W.Va.: and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Scala was preceded in death by a brother, William Scala; and a sister, Pauline Bigley. Private services were held Thursday at Oak Park Cemetery, New Castle. Rev. Earl Klein, Mr. Scala's brother-in-law, officiated. Memorial contributions in Mr. Scala's name may be made to The Salvation Army.

William T. Kelly Sr.
Kelly, 63, retired from Lindy Paving Co., enjoyed gardening, fishing
William T. Kelly Sr., 63, of 407 Mahony Ave., Ellport, died at 3 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, in the Butler Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born April 23, 1938, in New Castle to Ruth Ingram of Ellwood City and the late Harold C. Ingram, who died in 1980. He was married Jan. 7, 1977, to Mary Morida Kelly. A graduate of New Castle High School, Mr. Kelly retired on disability from Lindy Paving Co. in New Castle. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and yard work. In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by two sons, James Kelly of New Castle and William T. Kelly Jr. of Ellport; four daughters, Tammy Kelly of West Pittsburg, Mrs. Robert (Genie) Cox of New Castle, Billy Jo Kerr and Lisa Jones, both of Ellwood City; two brothers, James Ingram of New Castle and Michael Ingram of Ellwood City; three sisters, Gale Harris of New Bedford, Mrs. Mary Alice Babiarz of New Castle and Mrs. Carole Robinson of Ellwood City; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Morida of Ellport; and seven grandchildren. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Kelly. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow and from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Monday at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc., 309 Spring Ave., Ellwood City. The Rev. P.A. Harmon, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.

EUGENE WILSON RAMSEY
Ramsey, 89, active in community affairs
Eugene Wilson Ramsey, 89, of Patterson Township, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at the Beaver Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born July 28, 1913, in Butler to the late Elzie and Ruth Ramsey. He was married July 8, 1937, to the former Lucille Plummer, who survives. Mr. Ramsey graduated from Butler High School in 1931 and from Geneva College in 1935. He continued his studies with graduate courses at Purdue University and the University of Pittsburgh, prior to receiving his Chartered Life Underwriters certification. He worked in the chemistry lab at J&L Steel, the personnel department of Pan American Airways and was personnel director of Coharna Fabrics in South Carolina. In 1945, he and his family returned to Beaver County, where he spent the remainder of his career as a life underwriter for the Equitable Life Assurance Society, now AXA, Inc. He was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, Beaver Falls since 1937, where he served as an ordained elder, trustee and Sunday school teacher. Mr. Ramsey devoted much of his life to community activities. He served on the board of trustees at Geneva College, the YMCA, the drug and alcohol board of Beaver County, the board of directors of Area Agency on Aging and was past president of the Patterson Heights Council. He was a lifelong Mason and during the summer he received his 50-year pin. He was also an active member and past president of the Beaver Falls Garden Club. At the time of his death, Mr. Ramsey served as secretary on the board of directors for Pittsburgh Tubular Shafting, Inc., in Rochester and maintained an active interest in standard bred horse racing. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Sara Ramsey of Accident, Md.; a daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Walter Menand of North Ridgeville, Ohio; a brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Irene Ramsey of Butler; a sister-in-law, Alma Ramsey of St. Joseph, Mich.; a son-in-law, Harold Zehnder of Beaver; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Lucille Zehnder; a brother, Loyal Ramsey; and a great-grandson, Ryan Christopher Menand. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow in the Hill & Kunselman Funeral Home, 3801 Fourth Ave., College Hill, Beaver Falls. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 1099 Sixth Ave., Beaver Falls. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.

OTTIE M. REA JR.
Rea, 70, retired from J&L, Korean Conflict veteran
Ottie M. Rea Jr., 70, of Ellwood City, formerly of Patterson Heights and Oakland, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, in the Veterans Medical Center in Aspinwall from complications due to Alzheimer's Disease. He was born Nov. 8, 1931, in Boone Town, W.Va. to the late Ottie M. Sr., and Catherine Kiggans Rea and was married to Merle West Rea. He retired after 30 years of service from the Aliquippa Works of LTV Steel (J&L) and had worked in the 14" Mill. Mr. Rea was a member of the First Baptist Church in Beaver Falls and a past deacon and trustee of the church. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the U.S. Air Force. He had been the building superintendent of the Chalfont Apartment building in Oakland. In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children and their spouses, Frank and Jamey Condell of Ellwood City, Gregory and Teresa Rea of New Brighton, Jerry and Vickie Rea of Williamsport, Pa, Don and Sally Rea of North Richland Hills, Texas, Mark and Lisa Greer of Ellwood City and Julie Rea of Clarksburg, W.Va.; two brothers, Lyle Rea of Beaver Falls and Edward Rea of West Virginia; four sisters, Ruth Abraham of Clairton, Pa., Nettie Barnhart of Raven Rock, W.Va., Mable Bennett of St. Mary s, W.Va. and Margaret Hyatt of Colorado; 17 grandchildren, Frank Condell II, Katie Condell, Steve Rea, Chad Rea, Jerry Rea, Abigail Rea, Jonathan Rea, Ashley Rea, Joshua Ottie Rea, Cheryl Rea, Donny Rea, Mark Greer, Jeremy Greer, Bethany Greer, Sara Greer, Josie Greer and Jordan Rea; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and Harlan Rea. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow in the Hill & Kunselman Funeral Home, Inc., 3801 Fourth Ave., College Hill, Beaver Falls. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with the Rev. R. Tod Custer, pastor of Christ Presbyterian Church in Ellwood City, officiating. Private burial will follow in Clinton Cemetery, New Beaver Borough. The Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites at the funeral home Monday. Weeder, 77, life member of American Legion Auxiliary
Margaret Meeder, 77, of Fombell, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at Passavant Retirement and Health Center, Zelienople. She was born Sept. 17, 1925, in Zelienople, to the late Alfred and Harriet Howells McWithey. She was married June 17, 1944, to Carl (Bud) Meeder, who died April 22, 2001. Mrs. Meeder worked for over 30 years at Thompson's Restaurant in Harmony. She was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Zelienople, where she was active and dedicated to church activities. She was also a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Zelienople American Legion Post 474. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Neil (JaLeen) Anderson of Fombell, three brothers, Ernest McWithey of Zelienople, Harold McWithey of Ellwood City and Roy McWithey of Harmony, a sister, Mrs. William (Harriet) Dorwarth of Sarasota, Fla.; and a granddaughter, Megan Anderson. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith; three brothers and three sisters. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.
