Mrs. Catherine Gerber
Mrs. Catherine Gerber, aged 76 years died Friday at 7 a.m. at her home on Hudsondale street, Weatherly. She was the widow of Jonas Gerber who passed away 18 years ago and is survived by one sister, Mrs. Amandus Markle of Shamokin.
The funeral will be held today at 1:30 p.m. with services by Rev. Holland and interment in the Weatherly cemetery.

Stephen Bittenbender
Stephen Bittenbender, aged 69, of 11 West Madison avenue, West Hazleton, died at the Hazleton State Hospital Saturday morning at 11:30 o'clock. He was admitted to the institution on New Year's Day suffering from hemorrhages.
Born in Black Creek Township he was a resident of Harwood and West Hazleton his entire life. He was a member of Christ Memorial Reformed church, West Hazleton, where he served on the consistory for 27 years as treasurer. He was also a member of the following organizations: Knights of Malta, of Wilkes-Barre; O. of I.A., Camp 258, of Hazleton; Camp No. 90, P.O.S. of A., of Hazleton, and a member of the advisory committee of Troop No. 10, Boy Scouts of America. He was employed as a carpenter at the Cranberry colliery of the Lehigh Navigation Coal Company.
Besides his widow, who was before marriage, Catherine Green, he is survived by the following children: Mrs. Harry Evans, of Delhi, N.Y.; Mrs. Josiah Jones, Adam Bittenbender and Walter Bittenbender, all of West Hazleton. One brother, Reuben Bittenbender, of West Hazleton, also survives.
The funeral will be held privately from his late residence Tuesday, at 1:45 p.m. Public services in Christ's Memorial Reformed church, West Hazleton, at 2 p.m. Interment in the Red Rock cemetery.

Patrick Cassidy
Patrick Cassidy died yesterday morning at his home, 96 Boradway, Mauch Chunk. He was well known in this region and formerly served as a sexton at the Immaculate Conception church, Mauch Chunk.
He was born in Ireland and came to this country over 60 years ago.
Surviving are three sons and one daughter, Frank, a federal operator, James and Joseph and Hannah.
Mrs. Mary Malloy, of Hazleton Heights, is a relative of the deceased.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 a.m., with the burial at Mauch Chunk.

Mrs. Martha Fescina
Mrs. Martha Fescina, aged 30, of 621 Hayes street, died at the State Hospital at 8:25 o'clock yesterday morning, of acute appendicitis.
She was born in this city, her maiden name being Martha Wolfe. Her husband, James Fescina, preceded her in death three years ago.
Three children, James, Joseph and Congetta, survive, as does her father, Valentine Wolfe, and the following brothers and sisters: Fred Wolfe, Mrs. Mary Strohl, Mrs. H. Carhart, Mrs. L. Fisher, Mrs. L. Grazsk and Miss Jennie Wolfe, all of this city.
The funeral will take place from her late residence, 621 Hayes street, Tuesday morning at 9:30 o'clock. High mass of requiem in the Most Precious Blood church at 10 o'clock. Interment will be made in the Most Precious Blood cemetery.

Mrs. Lillian Viola Kendrick, 65 of RD 4 Benton, died Sunday at 7:35 p. m. in Berwick Hospital. Born in Shickshinny July 11, 1910, the former Lillian Ketcham (should be Lillian Lutz), she resided in Benton the last four years and previously lived in Lincoln Park, New Jersey for 30 years. She was employed at Lincoln Park Nursing Home, retiring in 1972. Mrs. Kendrick was a member of Benton Bible Baptist Church. She and her husband, Beach, celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary in March. Surviving in addition to her husband are sons, Vernard, CLeveland, Ohio, Homer, Tampa Florida; brother, Homer Ketcham, Runnemede, New jersey; sisters, Mrs. Howard Titus, Shickshinny, Mrs. Joseph Robic, Shickshinny, R.D1; Mrs. Flazia Lynn, Patterson New Jersey; four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p. m.. fro Shickshinny Bible Church. The body will lie in state in the church from 2 p. m. until time of service. Rev. DEATH COMES TO ROLAND GENSEL
A long illness, which included various periods of hospitalization, ended with the death of Roland H. Gensel, 63, of 33 LaSalle street, yesterday morning. Death occurred at his home. Mr. Gensel, who was a steward of the Berwick Lodge of Eagles, was a native of Shickshinny and had spent his early life there. He was the son of the late Henry and Irene Titus Gensel. He had lived in Berwick for 33 years. The death breaks a 35 years marital span. The local resident was a member of St. Joseph's R. C. Church, Berwick eagles, was active in the West End Hose Co., and was a social member of the VFW and the Maria Assunta. Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret Elizabeth Vinciguerra; three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Marie Louise) Cragle, Mrs. Andrew (Irene) Sanko and Mrs. Stephen (Rolene) DePaul, all of Berwick; one son, Roland Gensel, Jr., Berwick; four grandchildren, and four sisters; Mrs. Woodrow Cole, Mrs. Ida George and Mrs. Harold Banks all of Shickshinny, and Mrs. Robert Nuss, Nescopeck. Requiem High Mass will be celebrated at 10 a. m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Church. The Rev. Fr. Frederick A. Farace will be the celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Samuel Gross, aged 78, a well known resident of Plains, passed away at his home in that place, 49 Helen Street this morning, after a lingering illness of asthma. He had been employed as a stone mason for Maderia Coal Company until 51/12 years ago. Mr Gross was born at Butler, near Drums, this county, but had lived the greater part of his life in Plains. He had been a member of the lodge of Odd Fellows at Drums for 67 years. Mrs (Mr) Gross is survived by his widow; two brothers, Albert, of Milnesville, near Hazleton. and Albert of Reading; two sisters, Mrs. William Soan, of Hobbie, and Mary, of Reading and eight children, Mrs. John Carter and Charles, of Hudson, Harry of Plains; Lester, of Miners Mills; William, in Missouri; Mrs. William Davies of Miners Mills; Mrs. Charles W. Dixon, of Pennsylvania Avenue, Wilkes-Barre and Millard at home. The funeral will be held Wednesday, leaving the home at noon. Services will be conducted in the afternoon at the Red Rock Lutheran Reformed Church near Tanks. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Ida Gross. 69, Sugarloaf Township died yesterday morning at the home of her son Lester, North Washington Street, city. Where she was stricken suddenly Monday night while on a visit. Mrs. Gross was a former resident of Plains and returned to Sugarloaf to live after the death of her husband Samuel, 18 years ago. She was a member of Red Rock Reformed Church, Women's Bible Class, Wilkes-Barre Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, American Legion Auxililary and War mothers of Parson. Surviving are these children, Lester, Mrs. Charles Dixon, Wilkes-Barre; Mrs. William Davies, Millard Plains; step children, Mrs. Mary Carter, Hudson, Harry Gross, Plains; Charles, Wilkes-Barre; also 14 grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Cora Kirchforfer (Spelling), Sugarloaf, and a brother Stephen Seiple, Berwick. Mrs. Cora E. Davies formerly of Abbot Street, Miners Mills, died Monday morning in Bear Creek Nursing Home where she had been a guest since September. Born in Milensville, Luzerne County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Ida Sipple Gross. She moved to Hudson as a child and resided in the Plains and the Miners Mills area all her life. She made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Jean Scutt, Plains and Mountain Lake prior to her admission to the nursing home. Mrs. Davies was a member of the Miner Congregational United Church of Christ. Miners Mills. Her husband, William R. died in 1967.
Surviving are sons, William S. Mountain Top; Richard S. Media, brother Millard W. Bloomsburg; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren. Funeral Thursday at 11 from the H. Bloomsburg man formerly worked in mines
Millard Gross, 86, formerly of 6585 Second St. Bloomsburg, died at 2:10 a.m. Sunday, March 19, 1995 in the Klingerman Nursing Center, Orangeville, where resided one and a half years. He was born in Hudson on Feb. 22, 1909, the son of the late Samuel and Ida (Seiple) Gross. He had lived in Lime Ridge for about 30 years. In his early years, he worked in the mines as an electrician. He was last employed by U.S. Radium, Bloomsburg, retiring 1980. He was a member of St. Paul;s United Church of Christ, Sugarloaf R.R.1. He was the last member of his immediate family.
He is survived by his wife, the former Bertha Miller, with whom he celebrated his 64th anniversary on Feb 13th, five sons; Millard, Jr. Wilkes-Barre; Edwin, Deatsville, Ala,; Arnold, Bloomsburg R.R. 9; Gerald, Radcliff, Ky, and Paul, Hobbie, one daughter, Mrs. Ted (Lois) Cromer, Berwick, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Millard W. Gross, Jr., 62 of Miners Mills, Wilkes-Barre, died Thursday morning at his home. Born March 25, 1933, in Tomhicken, he was the son of the late Millard W. and Bertha Jones Sr. He resided in Miners Mills for more than 30 years and was educated in Plains Township schools. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War. serving as a sergeant. He received the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United National Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge, He was a retired U. S. Army reserve Associate Member. Before retiring, he was employed by the Tobyhanna Army Depot and as a driver for the Mallinckrodt Medical Group, Wilkes-Barre. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Miners Mills, and was an usher for the church. He also was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Wyoming Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Scranton, Irem Temple, Wilkes-Barre and Plains American Legion Post 558 and was pat master of St. John's Lodge 233 F&AM. He and his wife, the former Josephine Jeanne Penksa, recently celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary. Surviving in addition to his wife are his daughter Deborah Skaff, Lancaster, brothers Edwin, Deatville, Ala. Gerald, Radcliff, Ky., Paul Hobbie; Arnold, Bloomsburg; a sister Mrs. Lois Cromer, Berwick; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday from the Simon S. Emma E. Gross, 94, of 513 N. Front St. died Saturday night in the Community General Hospital, where she had been a patient for five days. Born in Freeland, Schuylkill County, she was a daughter of the late William F. and Susan L. (Fritzinger) Gross. She had been employed as a machine operator by the Wide Awake Shirt CO., before retiring July 15. 1955. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, for 72 years and was also affiliated with the Reading Fellowship Group of the Berks County Senior Citizens and the Amalgamated Clothing Workers Union. Surviving is a nephew, John R. Gross, Livermore Calif.
Services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Bean Funeral Home Inc., with the Rev. Harry G. Royer officiating. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Tuckerton.

GEO. F. GROSS THEATER VETERAN DIES AT AGE 64
George F. Gross, 64, of 513 N. Front St., veteran theater musician and assistant manger of the Embassy Theater, died at 6:30 o'clock last night in Reading Hospital. a resident of Reading since 1907, Gross began his career at the age of 12 when he served as pianist both for the former Bijou Vaudeville Theater, located on the site now occupied by the Victor, one of Reading's earliest motion picture theaters. While still in his early teens, Gross joined the Lyman H. Howe Producing Co., a promoter of theatrical road shows, and traveled from coast to coast with one of the firm's units. During this time, he played in theaters in every large city in the United States, including New York's famed Hippodrome. Joins Wilmer & Vincent Gross then joined the Wilmer & Vincent organization, being assigned as musical director of its Richmond, Va, theater. In 1921 he was given a similar post in the Rajah Theater here. After approximately seven years association with the Rajah Theater, he then was employed by C.G. Keeney as musician at the Hippodrome and Park Theaters.
From 1942 to 1944, Gross served as music instructor at Indiantown Gap; at the end of that period, he again became associated with the Wilmer & Vincent organization, being made assistant manager of the Embassy Theater. This position he remained in until last Labor Day, when he was admitted to Reading Hospital. Affiliated with the Reformed denomination, he was a member of Rajah Temple, Mystic Shrine; Reading Consistory, Scottish Rite Masons and Meridian Lodge No 28, F&AM, Richmond, Va., and a life member of the Reading Chapter of the Musicians Protective Assn. AFL. Born in Freeland, Luzerne County, George was a son of William and Susan (Fritzinger) Gross.
He is survived by a son, Major. John R. Gross, USAF, stationed in Athens, Greece; a grandson and a sister Emma with whom he resided. Arrangements in charge of T.C. Auman, Inc., funeral directors, will be made on the return to Reading of Major. Gross.

Albert Gross, of Milnesville, passed away at his home at 1:30 yesterday afternoon from bronchial asthma, at the age of 75 years 9 months and 9 days.
He is survived by his wife and the following children; Mrs. Thomas Kelley, of West Hazleton; Mrs. Daniel Uplinger, of Drums; Mrs. Florence Swinesburg, of Newark; Albert M. Gross of Lattimer. The following sister also survive; Mary Gross, of Reading; Mrs. Isabella Swans (Soans) of Hobbie, Twenty five grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive. The deceased was a member of Camp No. 37, P. O. S. of A., of Lattimer, and was affiliated with the Milnesville reformed Church. He was born in Butler Valley and has been a resident of Milnesville for the past 70 years. The funeral will be held from the family residence on Wednesday at 2 P. M. Mary Doretta Gross (Minnich), age 85, passed away yesterday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock at the home of her son Albert Gross of Milnesville. She was born in Butler Valley and lived in this region all her life. She was a member of the Milnesville reformed Church.
Her husband Albert Gross preceded her in death 13 years ago.
She is survived by the following children; Mrs. Thomas Kelly, of this city; Mrs. Daniel; Uplenger, Mrs. Raymond Swineburg, of Newark N.. J. and Albert Gross, of Milnesville. One sister, Mrs. Christ Beishline, of Drums, and two brothers, Phillip Minnich of Milnesville and Wesley Minnich of Freeland, are also surviving. Twenty seven grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren also survive, The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon from the Grebey Funeral Home. R.O. She was born in Hobbie, daughter of the late William and Eliza (Klinesmith) Faux. Her husband, William Henry Gross died November 26, 1925. He was the husband of Freda Heffner Gross, born in Milnesville, he was the son of the late William henry and Augusta Minerva Gross Gross was a retired coal-iron policeman for Anthracite Coal Co. in Lattimer and Milnesville, A registered plumber, he retired five years ago from Zillerman and Bitts. He moved from Milnesville to Lancaster in 1955. Gross was a member of Calvary Independent Church and Quarryville Senior Citizens, Surviving in addition to his wife are four children; William H. Gross, Foster City, Calif., Bruce A. Gross, Blue Ball Pa Beverly wife of Roland Brown, Ridgley Park and Eloise wife of Rev. Walt Kirkman, Morehead City, N. C.; 14 grandchildren, six great grandchildren; a brother Elwood E. Stanley P. Diehl, 89, Chester, Delaware County formerly of Hazel ton died Tuesday at Crozer Chester Medical Center, Upland. He was a member of Nativity Lutheran Church, Chester.
He was a welder for Westinghouse in Lester, PA., and belonged to the Westinghouse Local United electrical, Radio and Machine Workers He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Thelma M. Gross.
Surviving are four sons, William S., Wilmington, Mass.; James A., Los Angeles, Calif., Phillip H. Glen Riddle and Robert A. Unionville, PA.; a sister Alverta Lannon, West Hazleton, nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. The funeral will be held today at 11 a.m. from the James M. Brower Funeral Home, 908 S. Providence Road, Wallingford. Burial will be in Edgewood Memorial Park, Glen Mills.

Keith J. McGary Sr. 54, of 328 Lehigh Drive, West Easton, was killed Friday in a pedestrian-car accident in St. Augustine, Fla. St. John County Medical Examiner Dr. Robert McConaghie attributed death to blunt trauma injuries. McGary was the husband of Patricia (Spangler) McGary.
He was employed at the Victaule Co's west Easton plant for 17 years before retiring in 1983. He previously was a laborer for the international Union of North America, Local 1174, Allentown, for about 10 years. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of Myrle (Harden) Moses of Shickshinny, Luzerne County, and the late William L. McGary.
Surviving with his widow and mother are five sons, Keith Cressman, Barry Cressman, Larry Lauchlin, Keith McGary, Jr. and Patrick McGary, all of Easton; three daughters, Pamela Reinbold of Phillipsburg, Billie Reinbold of Phoenix City, Ala., and Lisa, wife of Barry Peters of Eaton; a brother Clifford of Bath; a sister, Lillian Wilson of Easton and six grandchildren. Services will be at 11 am Wednesday in the Ashton Funeral home, 14th and Northampton streets, Easton. Calling hours will be 7 to 8:30 pm. Tuesday.
