THOMAS H. EVANS; DEAD
Thomas H. Evans, 139 Mc Lean Street, died on Sunday night of paralysis at the age of 68 years. He was one of the oldest residents of Rolling Mill Hill and leaves six sons and daughters. Mrs. W. Pollard; Ashley; William G.of Wilkes-Barre; J. K. (John) of Utah, Thomas B. of Jersey City; Arthur W; .Francis and Albert Evans of Wilkes-Barre. Deceased was born in Flintshire, Wales and came to this country in 1884.
WIFE FOLLOWS HER HUSBAND
Shocked by the death of her husband who had comforted her during her illness, Mrs. Thomas H. Evans of McLean street passed away last evening. She had been ailing for some time as the results of injuries received in a fall. Her husband died on Saturday and the physicians say his death was the direct cause of her demise.
The funeral of Mr. Evans was to have been held today but has been postponed until Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock when the remain of husband and wife will be interred.
The following children survive.

HUSBAND AND WIFE BURIED TOGETHER
The double funeral of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas H. Evans who died during the week was held yesterday afternoon from their late home, 139 McLean Street, and the five sons and two daughters are overcome with grief. The services were held at the home at 2 o'clock, Rev. Thomas R. Warkins of Scranton officiated and was assisted by rev. E. J. Morris of the Putitan Church of the Heights. There were many floral tributes, among them a large pillow and two wreathes from the family and a Star from A.P.L.A., No 42 of which organization Mrs. Evans was a member. The order attended in a body. The pall bearers were; William Jones, Thomas Nightgale, Richard F. Jones, Edward and Daniel Powell and Edward Ellis and the scene was affecting indeed as the coffins containing the remains of husband and wife were lowered into a double grave in Oaklawn Cemetery, The funeral was largely attended.
A NOTE OF INTEREST:
The story passed down in the John K. Evans family of Utah given to me by Johns granddaughter was that Priscilla was ill in bed from that fall and Thomas each night before going to bed went to her room to say goodnight and this night for some reason said good bye instead of good night.
Thomas was born in New Market, Flint, Wales as it was known then.
Priscilla Price was born in Whitford, Flint, Wales
They had moved to Millom, Haverigg, England to find work and that is where they immigrated from April 27, 1984.

DIED AT ASHLEY HOME
Mrs. Louisa Boden Scott, 83, well known resident of Ashley died yesterday morning shortly after 9 at the home of her daughter and son in law, Chief of Police and Mrs. Robert Hughes 81 Brown Street Ashley, following an illness of complication.
Mrs. Scott was born in North Wales and came to this country at an early age. She had been a resident of Wilkes-Barre and Ashley for the past 53 years, where she was held in high esteem.
She was a member of Welsh Presbyterian Church of Ashley. She is survived by the following children; Mrs. Sarah Williams of Wilkes-Barre; Mrs. Harriet Redstone of Mountain Top; Price Martin at home; Mrs. Robert Cox of Chester and a brother Price Evans of Wilkes-Barre and 15 grandchildren.
The funeral will be held from the residence 81 Brown Street, Ashley Saturday afternoon at 2:30. Services will be charge of Rev. Llewellyn Thomas, Pastor of Welsh Presbyterian Church, Ashley and Robert D. Coward, pastor of Ashley Methodist Church. Interment will be in Hanover Green.

Funeral of Mrs. Louisa Boden Scott was held Saturday afternoon from the home of her daughter Mrs. Robert Hughes with scores of friends and relatives paying tribute to her memory.
Services were in charge of rev. Llewelllyn Thomas of Welsh Presbyterian Church, Ashley and Rev. Robert D. Coward of Ashley Methodist Church. Interment was in Hanover Green Cemetery.

Ill for nearly a year, death today at 7 o'clock ended the long suffering of William G. Evans, one of the best known residents of the Rolling Mill Hill section of this city. He passed away at the family home 133 McLean Street.
Mr. Evans was well known, he was a merchant in that section but of recent years he has lived retired. He was a brother of A. W. Evans, local florist.
Mr. Evans was born July 21, 1862 in North Wales (Newmarket, Flint), a short time ago he celebrated his seventy first birthday. he resided in this section for more than fifty years.
His wife Latitia Evans died in December 5 1931,
His survivors are the following sons and daughters; William G. Jr. of Cincinnati, Ohio; John K. florist, Nanticoke; Joseph D. at home; Robert D. Price of Mahanoy City and Thomas Price of this city; (step sons) Mrs. A. L. Vanergrift, Blytheburn, Mrs. J. The funeral of William G. Evans was held this afternoon at 2 from the late home 133 McLean street. Bryon Jones conducted the rites, Bearers included Walter Wynn and Thomas Wynn, Charlie Hungartner, Stanley Price and Raymond Price and Robert Price all grandchildren.

Mrs. Letitia Davidson, 80 133 McLean street, a resident of Wilkes-Barre for more than Forty years, died at her home this morning after a lingering illness of complications.
She was born in Scotland and came to this city when only a young girl, locating in the Rolling Mill Hill section.
She is survived by her husband, William G. Evans, Sr. and the following children, Robert, Mahanoy City, Thomas, city, William G. Jr; Joseph, at home: John, Nanticoke; Mrs. A. L. Vandergrift, Plytheburn; Mrs. John Hungartner, city and Mrs. G; Albrecht; Philadelphia; also two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Shenandoah and Mrs. John Coria, Pottsville; also thirty five grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

WILLIAM EVANS, 64 DIES AT NEWARK
William Evans 64, former resident of McLean Street, Wilkes-Barre, died at his home, (1 Johnston Avenue, Newark, New Jersey. this morning following a heart attack. He resided in Newark the past four years.
Mr. Evans was building superintendent for the Shane Apartments at Newark. Prior to that he was employed at Bell Aircraft Co., Buffalo, New York. Mr. Evans was born in this city, son of the late William and Letitia Davidson Evans and lived here most of his life.
Surviving are his wife, the former Frances Webster; four children; William and Mrs. John Boulden, both of Buffalo, New York; Robert, Kenmore, New York, and Mrs. Russell Little. Syracuse New York, a brother Jack K. Evans, Nanticoke florist; a sister Mrs. Sadie Albrecht, Elizabeth, New Jersey; six grandchildren.
Funeral will be held from the Kniffen Funeral Home, 465 South Main Street, Friday afternoon at 1. rev. Gerald Williams, pastor of Second Welsh Congregational Church, city, officiating.
Burial will be in Fern Knoll Burial Park, Dallas.

JOSEPH EVANS, FORMER CITY RESIDENT, DIES
Joseph D. Evans, 58, of Newark, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, died Tuesday morning in St. Joseph's Hospital, Newark, where he was a patient one week. He was a brother of J. K. Evans, prominent Nanticoke florist.
Mr. Evans was a son of the late William G. and Littia Evans (sp) and formerly resided in the Rolling Mill Hill section Of Wilkes-Barre. He spent the past eight years in Newark where he was associated with a real estate firm. He was a veteran of World War 1, having served with the Army in France, and was a former member of Second Welsh Presbyterian Church.
These brothers and sisters survive; Robert, Barnesville, PA; William, Newark; J. K. Evans, Nanticoke; Mrs. Ann Elizabeth Vandergrift, New York and Mrs. Sarah Albrect, New Jersey, also several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Friday afternoon from the Luther M. Kniffen Funeral Home, 465 South Main Street, with interment in Oaklawn Cemetery.

NANTICOKE FLORIST DIED
Funeral Friday for J. K. Evans, Sr.
J. K. Evans, Sr. 69 of 23 East Green Street, Nanticoke, well known florist and a member of the advisory board of Miners National Bank of Wilkes-Barre, Nanticoke Main Street Branch, died yesterday morning at Nanticoke State General Hospital where he was admitted 25 minutes earlier.
Mr. Evans was born in Wilkes-Barre, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Evans and had been in the floral business at Nanticoke 37 years.
Mr. Evans was a veteran of World War 1 serving in France with the U. S. Army. He was a member of Grant Street Presbyterian Church and was vice president of Nanticoke State General Hospital board of directors and past president of Nanticoke Rotary Club. Mr. Evans was a member of Nanticoke Post 350 American Legion, Nanticoke Lodge 541, F&AM. Bloomsburg Consistory, Irem temple and had been a member of Florist Telegraph Delivery for 35 years, attending the organization's national conventions many years.
Surviving are his wife the former Helene Price, formerly of Wilkes-Barre; children J. K. Evans Jr., Nanticoke and Jean at home. Two grandchildren also survive.
Funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 from Drapiewski Funeral Home, 14 West Green Street, Nanticoke, Nanticoke, Rev. Duane Collins pastor of Grant Street Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township.

ARTHUR EVANS, FLORIST DIES
CONDUCTED BUSINESS IN CITY FOR 32 YEARS, FUNERAL THIS AFERNOON
Arthur W. B. Evans, prominent North Main Street florist, died at 12:30 Saturday morning at his home, 1730 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, after several weeks illness.
Mr. Evans was born in Millom, England, and came to this country when a boy, (April 1884). For 32 years he had been a florist in Wilkes-Barre and was widely known through Wyoming Valley. Mr. Evans moved to the West side about 19 years ago but retained his business in this city.
Active in fraternal orders he was a member of Landmark Lodge 442 F and A. M.; Keystone Consistory, Scranton and Irem Temple. He was also a member of Wilkes-Barre, Lodge of Elks, Odd Fellows Lodge 39, Orpheus Glee Club and Wyoming Valley Florist Club.
Surviving are his widow; a son John (Jon) Price Evans, student at Temple University Medical School, a brother Albert Evans, Wilkes-Barre, and two sisters Mrs. Louisa Scott, Wilkes-Barre and Mrs. Francis Bittner, Chester.
The funeral will be held from the family home this afternoon at 3 with services in charge of the Rev. Ralph A. Weatherly, rector of Grace Episcopal Church, Kingston. Burial will be in Denison Cemetery, Forty Fort. Arrangements by L. P. Kniffen and Son.

Mrs. Jean Price Evans of 15 North Franklin Street, passed away in Mercy Hospital Saturday at 5:40 pm.. She was the widow of A. W. B. Evans.
Daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Clay Price, she was born in Wilkes-Barre.
Surviving are a son. Col. Jon P. Korea; brothers and sisters, Hazle K. Arthur and Henry C. of Wilkes-Barre; David, Newark, N. J.. Mrs. John Cobb, Binghamton N. Y. Mrs. J. K. Evans, Nanticoke two grandchildren Jean Priscilla and Jane Pamela Evans.

Wife of Embassy Medical Officer Injured in Thailand accident.
An airplane crash at Vientiene, Thailand on Sunday claimed the life of Dr. Jon P. Evans, a Wilkes-Barre native and resulted in injury of his wife, the former Dorothea Thomas of Wilkes-Barre. Dr. Evans was medical officer at the American Embassy at Bankok, Thailand.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Thomas, Sr. of 22 Dagobert street, city, the parents of Mrs. Evans, were notified of the tragedy by Phillip Warner of Binghampton. N. Y. who is with the State Department. Further details were received yesterday from Washington, D. C.
According to word received by Mrs. Evans family, the plane crashed after its engine failed. Two if the occupants where killed another injured, and Mrs. Evans was hospitalized with injuries and shock. Her condition was said to be serious.
Dr. Evans was Southeast Asia medical officer for the State Department and recently was presented the Legion of Merit by the American Ambassador in Thailand for "exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services."
Due to return to this country in June, Dr. Evans went to Thailand following his retirement from the Army less than two years ago. A colonel, he retired as commander of the Army hospital at Fort Carson, Colo.., after 23 years of service.
Dr. Evans was a son the late Mr. and Mrs. Arthur W. B. Evans who operated Evans Flower Shop , 14 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. He maintained a home at Harvey Lake,
Before entering service. Dr. Evans attended Wyoming Seminary, Washington and Lee University and was graduated from Temple University School of Medicine, He interned at General Hospital and practiced medicine on North Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre. He received a degree in public health from Walter reed Institute of research and also was graduated from Command and General Staff College and Armed Forces Stall College. He served withe Medical Corps in World Was 2.
Dr. Evans spent 11 years as an adviser to various government around the world on problems of public health. He served Gen. Matthew Ridgway's headquarters, First Armored Division, First Army headquarters, Kennedy General Hospital, Memphis , Tenn and office of the surgeon general. He commanded the hospital at Patrick AFB, Fla., also was at McDonald Hospital, Fort Eustis Va., before going to Fort Carson.
Surviving besides his wife are daughters, Mrs. David L. Cahn, Virginia; Mrs. Richard. St John, Easton whose husband returned from service in Vietnam several weeks ago and who has been assigned to Lafayette College; three grandchildren; aunt and uncle, Miss Hazle Price and Clay Price 41 Elder Street.
