Ralph M. Isenberg
PORT ROYAL - Ralph M. Isenberg, 86, of 106 Moorehead St., Port Royal, died at 1:35 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at Lewistown Hospital. Born Sept. 17, 1915, in Milford Township, Juniata County, he was the son of the late Blair Nevin Sr. and Ruth Naomi (Yocum) Isenberg. His wife, Alice M. (Phillips) Isenberg, preceded him in death on Jan. 1, 1997. Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Abe (Carol) Harbst, Port Royal, and Mrs. Charles (Susan) Leitzel, Middleburg; three brothers and one sister, John W. Isenberg, Brookline Manor Retirement Village, Mifflintown RR1, Robert S. Isenberg, Port Royal RR1, Blair Nevin Isenberg Jr., Denton, TX, and Mrs. Kermit (Dorothy) Dressler, Lewisberry; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two step-grandsons and one step-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Lee Isenberg on April 30, 1966, and three sisters. He retired in 1976 from the pA Railroad as a heavy equipment operator and repairman. After his retirement he worked as a consultant for Ford, Bacon and Davis Company of Ohio for three years. He was employed by the Rex Funeral Home as a flagman. He was a former Port Royal Borough Councilman having served six years. He also served for 22 years as a Port Royal Borough Constable. He was a member of the Port Royal United Methodist Church, where he held various offices. Mr. Isenberg was chairman of the church trustees and served many years as a delegate to the Methodist Conference. He was also a member of the Juniata County Safety Committee, the Juniata County Sewage Committee and a past member of the Port Royal Lions Club. His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Port Royal United Methodist Church, with Pastor Kenneth R. Kitzmiller officiating. Interment will be in New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, at the Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Monday, at the church. Alfred E. Jamison
MCALISTERVILLE - Alfred E. Jamison, 60, of RR1 McAlisterville, died at 3:50 a.m. Wednesday Sept. 11, 2002, at his home. Born March 23, 1942, in Fayette Township, Juniata County, he was the son of Arlene R. (Elsasser) Jamison Devlin, East Salem and the late Lloyd E. Jamison. His wife, Sandra L. (Haubert) Jamison whom he married Sept. 1, 1963, survives. In addition to his wife and mother, he is also survived by: two daughters, Cynthia L. Moyer and husband Timothy, Freeburg, Cathy S. Burris and husband Larry, RR1 McAlisterville; a son, Edward A. Jamison and wife Heather, Selinsgrove; five sisters, Vivian Hutzel, New Bloomfield, Fay Rumberger, Millerstown, Patsy Crawford, Honey Grove, Mary Zeigler, McAlisterville, Betty May Imes, Thompsontown; and six grandchildren. He attended Grace Covenant Church, RR2 Thompsontown. He was a member of Tennis Lodge F&AM #371, Thompsontown, Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge 925, Millerstown, J.E. Bowen, Jr. Am Vets, Post 122, Thompsontown. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, Sunday drives and spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. He was a self-employed masonry contractor, owning and operating Al Jamison Masonry, McAlisterville. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday from the Grace Covenant Church, RR2 Thompsontown with Pastor Glen R. Peachey officiating. A private family committal service will follow in the Union Memorial Gardens, RR4 Mifflintown; however, the family would like to invite everyone in attendance at the funeral service to stay at the church for a fellowship meal, following the committal service. There will be no viewing. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society Mifflin-Juniata Unit, 26 North Brown Street, Lewistown, PA 17044, or to Hospice - The Bridge, 1126 West Fourth Street, Lewistown, PA 17044. Ora B. Jennings
CARLISLE - Ora B. Jennings, 85, of Carlisle and formerly of Lewistown and Collinsville, Mississippi, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002 in Manor Care Health Services of Carlisle. She had formerly been employed by Dr. Jacob Kline and his family in Lewistown for 20 years. She is survived by five grandchildren, Linda A. Manning, Vanessa L. Brown, Phyllis J. Wallace, Barbara K. Carpenter and Howard L. Manning, Jr., all of Carlisle; and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Jennings was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Fred W. Jennings and her daughter, Freddie B. Manning. She was a former member of First Baptist Church, Lewistown. Burial will be in the William Lind Memorial Cemetery, Lewistown, at 11:00 a.m. Thursday.

Pearl Smith Jennings
TOWANDA - Pearl Smith Jennings, 90, of Towanda, Bradford County, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001. Born March 9, 1911, in Vira, Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Charles A. and Lena (Searer) Smith. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Harry Varnes and G. Willis Jennings. She is survived by: a daughter, Patricia Ciccolini of Lewistown; sisters, Margaret Harmon, Reedsville, and Helen Ewing, Beaver Springs; granddaughters, Mrs. Dan (Pearl Ann) Beachel, Lewistown, and Mrs. Dale (Patricia) Levsen of Brownsville, TX; eight great-grandchildren and a number of great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by: brothers, Russell, Fern, Donald and Nelson Smith; sisters, Florence Aurand, Clara Marrone, Catherine Bell and Freeda Orris. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at Wysox Presbyterian Church.

Katharine P. Jochen
NORTH WALES - Katharine "Kay" P. Jochen, 95, of North Wales died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at Elm Terrace Gardens, Lansdale. Born Sept. 5, 1906, in Yeagertown, Mifflin County, she was a daughter of the late Orris W. and Eva Sara (Barger) Pecht. Her husband, Victor B. Jochen Sr., died in 1992. Surviving are: children, Rev. Victor B. Jochen Jr., Pittsburgh, Mark Jochen, Three Rivers, MI, Rev. Carol J. Shinn, Lansdowne, and Jean Anderson, Bryn Mawr; sisters, Dorothy Pecht, Milroy, and Eunice Ewing, Selinsgrove; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She grew up in Milroy, Mifflin County, and was a graduate of Milroy High School. She attended Shippensburg Normal School and Millersville Normal School. She began her teaching career in one-room schoolhouses in New Lancaster Valley and Shrader. After her marriage, she was a homemaker, but returned to teaching after her children were in school. She was a substitute teacher in North Wales Elementary School and at Spring House Elementary School prior to returning to full-time teaching in the North Penn School District. She retired after many years of teaching fourth grade at the Knapp School. She was an active member of the North Wales Baptist Church, where she served for many years as superintendent and teacher in the kindergarten department. She was also active in women's ministries and on the church board, and she was active as a volunteer at North Wales Library, and later, at Elm Terrace Gardens. She was a caring person who opened her home to many ministers, missionaries and international students. When she and her husband went on sabbatical, they took a trip around the world on a freighter and visited many of these friends along the way. She enjoyed the outdoors, nature, gardening and reading, and was known for her baking and fried chicken. She also enjoyed crocheting and sewing and made most of her own clothes and those of her children when they were young. Her service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at North Wales Baptist Church. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services. The Longenecker Funeral Home, North Wales, is in charge of arrangements. Cordell Douglas Johnson
ALLEN, MI - Cordell Douglas Johnson, 51, of 3324 North Sand Lake Rd., Allen, MI, died at 7 p.m. Feb. 27, 2002, at the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI, after a prolonged illness. Cork, as he was known to family and friends, was born Oct. 28, 1950, to Harvey and Mary Ellen Markle Johnson. He grew up in Reedsville, raised by Mary Ellen and his step-father, W. Harold Brown. After high school, Cork entered the U.S. Army and served with the 196th Light Infantry Brigade in Vietnam. Surviving are: his wife, Debra Johnson, Allen, MI; a daughter, Sabrina Johnson, Harrisburg; a step-son, Bobby Baker, Allen, MI; sisters, Margaret Ann Bettis, Apple Valley, WA and Jane Dickinson, Camp Verde, AZ; brothers, Gary L. Brown, Jacksonville, AL, and Harry D. Brown, Milroy; four grandchildren; several nieces, a nephew and several grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, step-father and a younger brother. After serving in the U.S. Army, Mr. Johnson worked as a construction foreman and as a roofer. Edna I. Johnson
LEWISTOWN - Edna I. Johnson, 82, of 307 S. Main St., Lewistown, died at 4:06 a.m. Monday Sept. 2, 2002, at Centre Community Hospital, State College. Born Oct. 19, 1919, in Granville Township, she was a daughter of the late Edward L. and Mable (Chamberlain) Price. Her husband, George H. Johnson preceded her in death on July 23, 1975. Surviving are: three children, Sherman C. Johnson Sr. and his wife Marlene and Mrs. Edward (Darlene) Knepp, all of Lewistown, Mrs. James (Sue) (Johnson) Murri, Trabuco Canyon, CA; a brother, Clarence "Fat" Price of Aaronsburg; two grandsons, Sherman C. Johnson Jr. and his wife Marlene, of McVeytown and Bradey A. Stephens and his wife Lori of Cave Creek, AZ; and a great-grandson, Trey Johnson of McVeytown. She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, traveling and baking. She was an avid bingo player and sports fan. She was a member of the Bethel AME Church. Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc. with the Rev. Bernard Carpenter officiating. Mary Ruth Clouser (Moore) Johnson
LEWISTOWN - Mary Ruth Clouser (Moore) Johnson, 74, of 377 Cottage Place, Lewistown, died 7:14 p.m. Tuesday Aug. 27, 2002, at Beverly Healthcare-William Penn. Born July 5, 1928, in Burnham, she was a daughter of the late William N. and Tessie (Hoffman) Clouser. Her first husband, Shannon D. Moore died Oct. 5, 1994 and her second husband, John L. Johnson, whom she married June 27, 1997, survives. Also surviving are: two children, Scott B. Moore of Manchester, CT and Wayne O. Moore of Lexington, KY; two step-children, Sue F. Johnson of Selinsgrove and Brian N. Johnson of Chino Hills, CA; eight siblings, Martha E. Collins and William O. Clouser, both of Lewistown, Ethel M. Kreps of West Grove, Flora E. Stuck and John A. Clouser, both of Lewistown, James H. Clouser of Trout Run, Doris L. Wilt of McClure, Beatrice I. Stuck of Burnham; five grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: a brother, Floyd A. Clouser; a sister, Pauline Wagner and a daughter, Sharon L. Morris, who died in 1994. She was a graduate of Burnham High School, Class of 1947. She worked as a secretary for the East Hartford, CT School District, retiring in 1994. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lewistown. The Lewistown Chapter #283 Order of the Eastern Star, the Women of the Moose Chapter #212, Lewistown, the Pensioners Club & Ladies Auxiliary New England Post #93, and the 29th Division Association. A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, at Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, PA 17009 with Karen McCachren officiating. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford, CT. A viewing will be from 6 p.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home. Vivian G. Johnson
SPRING MILLS - Vivian G. Johnson, 84, of 150 Chestnut St., Spring Mills, died at 8:25 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at Geisinger Medical Center. Born Nov. 15, 1917, in Yeagertown, she was a daughter of the late George M. and Anna (Wyland) Ferguson. Her husband, William R. Johnson Sr., preceded her in death March 16, 1993. Surviving are: five children, William R. Johnson Jr., Great Barrington, MA, Vivian E. Stover, Lititz, George W. Johnson, PA Furnace, Patricia Klimash, Shavertown, and John P. Johnson, Lawrence, KS; two sisters, Mary F. Hess, Belleville, and Mrs. Warren (Janet) Hess, Hustontown; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, one half-brother, five sisters and one half-sister. She and her husband owned and operated Johnson's General Store, Potters Mills, for 30 years. Later, she was a volunteer at Brookline Manor and University Park Nursing Centers where she was named volunteer of the year in 1992. She was a devout Christian and a member of Sprucetown United Methodist Church, Potters Mills. Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown with Rev. Jeffrey Mugridge officiating. Interment will be in Lind Memorial Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Christine M. 'Kitty' (Smith) Jones
AMBLER - Christine M. "Kitty" (Smith) Jones, 88, of Ambler and formerly of Berwick, died Sunday, July 21, 2002, at the Dresher Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center, Dresher, Montgomery County. Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Kelchner-McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third St., Berwick. Burial will be in th Rose Lawn Cemetery, Berwick. A viewing will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Harry Howard 'Bud' Jones
SAN ANTONIO, Texas 0 Harry Howard 'Bud' Jones, 83, Lt. Col. USAF (Ret.) died Nov. 19, 2002. Born Nov. 26, 1919, his wife of 59 years, Betty Bruce Jones, survives. Also surviving are: three sons, David Bruce Jones, Carlisle, Mark Howard Jones and Scott Reed Jones; a daughter, Janis Lynn Jones, Dallas, Texas; three sisters, Estella Mowery, Kathryn Kaufman and Margaret Poorman, all of PA; and two daughters-in-law, Constance Jones and Sheila Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Charles R. Jones and Elva Jones Edmiston. He was a veteran of World War II and a survivor of Pearl Harbor. He served in the Pacific and European Theatres. He and his wife were former residents of Mifflin County. They were charter members of Friendswood United Methodist Church. Graveside service and interment will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas with Hiram "Doc" Jones, Brig. General USAF (Ret.), former pastor and longtime friend, officiating. Services are under direction of Pasadena Funeral Chapel, 2203 Pasadena, Texas 77502.

H. Richard 'Dick' Jones
H. Richard "Dick" Jones, 60, of Mifflintown RR4, died at 11:30 pm Monday, August 19, 2002, at his home. Born April 17, 1942, he was a son of the late J. Harold and Ruth (Sieber) Jones. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne (Hutchinson) Jones whom he married Dec. 30, 1963. Also surviving are: 1 son, Timothy Richard Jones and his wife Regina and their 3 children, Ethan Richard, Jessalyn Danielle, and Michaela Ann, of Landisburg; a daughter, Kelli Jean Jones, at home; a brother, Darwin E. Jones and his wife June of Thompsontown; and a sister, Mrs. Robert J. (Mary) Crimmel of Mifflintown RR1. He was an electrician and retired from International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers #143, Harrisburg. He and his wife have owned and operated The Tuscarora Motor Inn for 20 years. He is a graduate of Juniata Joint High School, a member of Union Lodge #324 F&AM and served on the board of Union Cemetery. He enjoyed hunting groundhogs. His service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Pastor Jim Williams and Pastor Judy Rowles officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Nook. Friends may call 7-8:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where a Masonic service will be conducted by the Union Lodge at 8:45 p.m.

Ivadell 'Ivy' C. Jones
LEWISTOWN - Ivadell 'Ivy' C. Jones, 74, of Beverly Healthcare William Penn, died at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at the nursing home. Born Dec. 11, 1927, in Newport, she was a daughter of the late Jacob W. and Carrie Elizabeth (Shatto) Carl Sr. Surviving are: five children, William Jones, Somerset, Mrs. William (Wendy) Zeigler, Reedsville, Brad S. Jones, Newport, John D. Jones and wife Marlene, Middleburg, and Todd A. Jones and wife Brenda, Lewistown; two sisters, Helen Longwell, Middleburg, and Mildred Wagner, Florida; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death three sisters and one brother. She was a 1946 graduate of Newport High School. She retired from Blue Cross and Blue Shield. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Her funeral service will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were handled by Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Jerauld R. Jones
Mifflintown - Jerauld R. Jones, 87, of Mifflintown RR5, and formerly of Thompsontown RR1 died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at Lewistown Hospital. Born Sept. 14, 1914 in Duncannon, he was the son of the late Russell and Leona (McNaight) Jones. His wife, Nellie M.(Thompson) Jones, preceded him in death on Sept. 13, 1997. Surviving are: children, W. Russell Jones, Jerauld Junior Jones, Larry R. Jones, Ray Lynn Jones and Rita Zeigler, all of Thompsontown RR2, Ruth A. Sheaffer, Mifflintown RR5 and B. Jean Crawford, Ickesburg; 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Jones Sheerer. He had worked in the Van Dyke brick yard for many years. He was a member of Locust Run United Methodist Church and attended Grace Covenant Church. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and camping. His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. Glen Peachey officiating. Interment will be in Locust Run Cemetery. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: Grace Covenant Church, RR2, Thompsontown, PA 17094.

John F. Jordan Jr.
WINDBER - John F. Jordan Jr., 86, of 1700 Veil Rd., apt. 312, Windber, formerly of 33 Ridge Rd., Lewistown, died at 5:26 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2002, at the Meadow View Nursing Home, Berlin. Born Nov. 28, 1915, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late John F. Jordan Sr. and Sylvia (Swartz) Jordan. His wife, Marian G. (Krebs) Jordan, preceded him in death, June 12, 1998. Surviving are: a child, Alan R. Jordan, Dunlo; a sister, Dorothy G. Baynes, York; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, JoNelle K. Jordan, Sept. 18, 1996; a brother and a sister. He was a lead worker in the Engineering Department of American Viscose Corporation division of FMC, before retiring in 1984. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. A Graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Lind Memorial Cemetery with Karen McCachren officiating. There will be no viewing. The Graveside Military Service will be conducted by VFW Post 7011. Hoenstine Funeral Home, Incorporated, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, is in charge of the arrangements.
