MIFFLINTOWN - Lila M. Kline, 94, of Beverly Healthcare-William Penn and formerly of RR!, Mifflintown, died at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, at the home. Born Sept. 28, 1907, in Potters Mills, Centre County, she was the daughter of the late Wellington E. and Mary Elizabeth (Stover) Yearick. Her husband, John O. Kline, preceded her in death on Aug. 22, 1990. Surviving are: a son, Gayle W. Kline, Mountville, and a daughter, Mrs. Earl (Donna K.) Robinson, Mifflintown; a sister, Martha Y. Kline, Clearwater, FL; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Fred Yearick, Harry Yearick and one in infancy, and a grandson, Galen Robinson. She attended the Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church, RR4, Mifflintown, and she was a homemaker. Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, from the Mifflintown Chapel of Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. M. Eugene Heidler officiating. Interment will be in the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the service Saturday, at the funeral home.

Sylvia P. Kline
YEAGERTOWN - Sylvia P. Kline, 79, of 172 N. Derry Ave., Yeagertown, died at 8:10 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2002 at Beverly Healthcare, William Penn. Born Aug. 19, 1922, in Slovenia, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Antonia (Rojc) Potepan. Her husband, Donald E. Kline, preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 1995. Surviving are: three daughters, Eleanor M. Sheridan, Yeagertown, Donna C. Kline, Bellefonte, and Susan M. Goetz, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; a sister, Agnes Potepan, Reedsville; a brother, Frank Potepan, Catonsville, MD; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Potepan, in 1976. She was a registered nurse and served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps during World War II in the South Pacific. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc., 108 First Ave., Burnham, with the Rev. Thomas Marickovic officiating. Interment will be in Birch Hill Cemetery. There will be no viewing. Clark D. 'Pap' Klinepeter
BEAVER SPRINGS - Clark D. "Pap" Klinepeter, 76, of Beaver Springs passed away at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at home. He had been in ill health for the past month. Born Jan. 29, 1926, in Beaver Springs, he was a son of the late Frank R. and Edna V. (Bell) Klinepeter. His wife, Virginia M. "Ginny" (Day) Klinepeter, whom he married June 30, 1947, passed away Aug. 28, 2001. He was a member of Beaver Lutheran Church, Beaver Springs RR1. In 1988, he retired as a foreman from Pennsylvania Dept. of Transportation after 98 years of service. He also drove ambulance for the Beaver Springs Ambulance Club for-50 years. He served during World War II in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post 957, New Berlin, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Loyal Order of Moose Post 1229, Middleburg; Beaver Springs Volunteer Fire Company; Retired Public Employees AFSCME, Chapter 13; and a life Member of Post 5640, Middleburg. He was an expert carpenter, making things for his family and friends. He enjoyed visiting with friends at Rayauda's and the "gas house", square dancing and babysitting his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Bonita L. Mattern, Beaver Springs; N. Teresa and Tom Hoffman, Beavertown and Sheridan A. "Pinky" Hagan, Atlas; a step-daughter Linda E. McCool, Millheim; three sisters, Annabelle Heeter, Danville; Nancy Walker, Northumberland and Edna Grace "Dolly" Smerroskie, Trevorton and a brother, Fred Klinepeter, Beaver Springs; five grandchildren, Sharon and Randy, whom he raised; Anna, Nikki and Bobbi; seven great-grandchildren, Anthony, Ashley, Abby, Adrianne, Zane, Ashley and Devan; and two step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant grandsons and two brothers, Lewis and Samuel Klinepeter. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m Saturday at Beaver Lutheran Church with the Rev. Karl-John Stone officiating. Interment will be in the Adamsburg Cemetery, Beaver Springs, with military honors provided by VFW Post 564, Paxtonville. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday from 9:30 a.m. till the time of service. Sue E. Knable
MCVEYTOWN - Sue E. Knable, 71, of 17 N. Market St., McVeytown, died unexpectedly at 1:35 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002, at J.C. Blair Hospital. Born Aug. 20, 1931, in Newton Hamilton, her husband, Lawrence l. Knable Jr., preceded her in death. Surviving are: six grandchildren, Amy Jo Brumbaugh, Alison Sue Dimoff, Kirk A. Knable, Angela Claycomb, Alan R. Sunderland, and Alicia L. Knable; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: a daughter, Phyllis Sue Sunderland; a son, Randy Lee Knable; and a sister, Charlotte Ann Everets. She was a former owner of the Kountry Kitchen Restaurant, McVeytown. She was a member of Atkinsons Mills Senior Citizens Center, the Newton-Wayne Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary, and the Newton Hamilton United Methodist Church. Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mt. Union. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. this evening and after 9 a.m. Saturday. A firemen's memorial service will be held at 6:45 p.m. Friday. Hazel G. Knepp
MILLMONT - Hazel G. Knepp, 80, of Rolling Hills Manor, Millmont, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at the nursing home, where she had been a resident since 1987. Born March 24, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur and Elizabeth (Yetter) Knepp. She is survived by a brother, Ernest Knepp, RR1 Beaver Springs. She was preceded in death by Harold Knepp. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the McClure Union Cemetery. Aurand Funeral Homes, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown, is in charge of arrangements.

Lester I. Knepp Jr.
MCCLURE - Lester I. Knepp Jr., 71, of 5781 U.S. Hwy 522N, McClure, died at 10:50 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2002 at his residence. Born May 13, 1930, in Decatur Township, he was the son of the late Lester I. and Josephine E. (Marks) Knepp Sr. He was the husband of Shirley (Shawver) Knepp, whom he married Dec. 31, 1955. Also surviving are three children, Craig A. Knepp of RR2, McClure, Mrs. William (Sandra) Fisher of RD1, McClure and Mark D. Knepp of McClure; three siblings, Orville T. Knepp, Mrs. Howard (Patricia) Ritter and Lewis C. Knepp, all of RD1, McClure; and five grandchildren. He was a carpenter at Standard Steel, Burnham, retiring in 1984. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, McClure, Lewistown Masonic Lodge #203, Lewistown Commandery #26, Lewistown Royal Arch Chapter #186, American Legion Post #942, McClure, and Harrisburg Consistory. He was also a member of the Alfarata Lions Club, where he was a secretary for 15 years, and he was a former member of Jaffa Shrine, Altoona, and Tall Cedars of Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with Rev. Kevin Brophy and Rev. Kathy Mercado officiating. Myrtle A. Knepp
Perhaps You Knew Her: Myrtle (Harshbarger) Knepp, 91, died at 3:05 p.m. Monday, May 27, 2002 at the Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, Lewistown. Perhaps you met her at the American Viscose or Arrow Shirt Company cafeterias where she worked for Servomation for 17 years. Perhaps she greeted you at the 5th Ward election booths where, for over 25 years, she was judge of elections. Perhaps as a teacher or student she served you lunch when she worked in the high school cafeteria. Perhaps you could have sat beside her at the City, Fame or Brooklyn fire companies' bingo games. Perhaps you served with her when she was president of the Elks Auxiliary or dined with her and her husband Randall Knepp (borough council 1963-1980) at the Elks Club. Perhaps you heard her (and her trumpet) as a member of the Beaver Springs Girls Band, or as a choir member at Trinity United Church of Christ. Perhaps you caringly helped and laughed with her in the William Penn Home since 1998. Perhaps you knew her as a good neighbor at her home on Pine Park Drive. Many of you knew her as the proud mother of Donald, Robert and William Knepp - as the grandmother of Randall, Robert, Ronald, Daniel, David, Rory, Robin and Patty - and as great-grandmother of Bobby, Billy, Nicholas, Nichole and Morgan. Walter J. Knepp
BELLEVILLE - Walter J. Knepp, 79, of Valley View Retirement Community, Belleville, and formerly of Centre Hall, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, at Valley View Retirement Community. Born March 19, 1922, in McClure, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Cutman) Knepp. His wife, Melissa R. (Holderman) Knepp, whom he married Nov. 24, 1943, preceded him in death on July 23, 2001. Surviving are: daughters, Rilla K. Yocum, Lewistown, Darlene B. Cramer, NY, Barbara A. Pennepacker, Reedsville, and Sandra J. Cecco, Centre Hall, and a son, James A. Knepp; sisters, Ruth Knepp, McAlisterville, and Grace Rhodes, Richfield, and a brother, Carl Knepp, Mifflintown; 19 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Stella R. Romig, two brothers, Charles Knepp and Clair Knepp, a great-granddaughter, Jeylena Young, and a grandson, Robert Eugene Pennepacker. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II, from Dec. 1942 to Nov. 1945. He farmed early in life, then worked in construction and later worked in food service at Penn State University, retiring after 24 years of service. He also worked as a rural newspaper carrier for Centre Daily Times for over 20 years, and did door-to-door delivery of telephone directories for Bell and Donnelley companies for eight years. In addition, he owned and operated a lawn care service in the State College area. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Colyer, The Centre Hall Fire Company, East Centre Ambulance Club, and American Legion Post 779, Centre Hall. His funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall, with Captain Charles Niedermyer and son-in-law, Major John Cramer of the Salvation Army officiating. Interment will be in Zion Hill Cemetery, Colyer. Robert John Koller
MCCLURE - Robert John Koller, 64, of RR3 McClure, passed away at 1 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at the Lewistown Hospital, where he had been a patient since Saturday. He has been ill in health for the past four years. Born April 10, 1937, in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Robert Clyde Koller and Thelma Marion Beahm. His wife, Kathryn Lucille Ocker, whom he married May 6, 1989, survives. On Jan. 5, 1957, he married the late Helen Rose Weiss, who preceded him in death on July 11, 1987. Also surviving are: four daughters, Cheryl Anne McGoldrick, Turnersville, NJ, Karen Rene O'Donnell, Manahawkin, NJ, Jennifer Lynne and Cynthia Sue, both at home, and three sons, Steven Brian Koller, Lewistown, Gregg Robert Koller, North Port, FL, and Michael Scott Koller, Germantown, MD, and a step-daughter, Angela Dawn Keister, Beavertown; a sister, Lisa Williamson, Germantown, MD, and two brothers, Kenneth Koller, Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Thomas Koller, Port Charlotte, FL. He attended Faith Baptist Church, Beaver Springs. He had been involved in prison ministry for the past twenty years. In 2001, he retired from the Snyder County Board of Assistance, where he served as a caseworker. In 1972 he retired from the U.S. Navy as a Master Chief Petty Officer, and was last stationed in Washington D.C. He graduated from North East High School in 1954 and received an Associates Degree in Real Estate from Gloucester County College. He enjoyed cryptograms and crossword puzzles, reading, hunting, marksmanship, darts and playing with his grandchildren. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Faith Baptist Church, with Rev. Denton Mallonee officiating. Interment will be at the family's convenience at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. CHAMBERSBURG - Dora Mae Koonsman, 100, a resident of Providence Place of Chambersburg for the past six months, previously of 1987 Crider Church Road, Chambersburg, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002 at Providence Place. Born Jan. 11, 1902 in Swengel, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Emma Keister Boop. Her husband, Franklin C. Koonsman, preceded her in death April 29, 1973. Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Dottie) Metzler, Chambersburg; three grandchildren, Linda Feight, Douglas Metzler, and Tammy Hurley; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a step-sister, three brothers and a step-brother. She worked as a seamstress at Arrow Shirt Factory, Lewistown. She was a member of Chambersburg Bible Church. Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Chambersburg Bible Church with Rev. Jim Moats and Rev. Dave Kraft officiating. Interment will be in Old Cedar Cemetery, Swengel. MIFFLINTOWN - Elizabeth C. "Liz" Koppenhaver, 80, of the Brookline Manor and Retirement Village, and formerly of RR1 Mifflintown, died at 2:15 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2002, at the manor. Born May 9, 1922, in Pottstown, Montgomery County, she was a daughter of the late John and Virginia (DeAngelis) Segneri. Her husband, Samuel A. Koppenhaver, whom she married Sept. 21, 1941, survives. Also surviving are: a daughter, Anna Marie Peck and her husband Donald E., Mifflintown, and a son, Paul R. Koppenhaver and his wife Cathy, Mercer; a sister, Gloria Martz, Stowe, and a brother, Phillip Segneri, Lemerick; four grandchildren, David L. Peck, Donna M. Watts, Michael L. Peck and Paula K. Jones, and two great-grandsons, Austin S. Peck and Alec J. Watts. She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Segneri, and a sister, Mary Valente. Earlier in life, she was seamstress at Juniata Garment, Mifflin. She was a member of the Arch Rock United Methodist Church, RR1, Mifflintown. Her hobbies included crocheting, Italian cooking, and baking, but her special interests were her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandsons. Michael "Pap" Korinchak
COALPORT - Michael "Pap" Korinchak, 85, of Blain City, Coalport RD, died on Friday, April 19, 2002 at the Altoona Hospital. Born June 5, 1916, in Beccaria, he was a son of the late Harry and Catherine (Korlinchak) Korinchak. Surviving are a special friend, Nellie Bernazzoli of Coupon; two children, Harry (Charlotte Bimeal) Korinchak of Rosebud, Coalport RD and Dr. Jerome Korinchak, Lewistown; five siblings, Anthony Korinchak of St. Michael, Catherine Hendron of Port St. Lucy, FL, John Korinchak of Cleveland, OH, Stephen Korinchak of Berea, OH and Frank Korinchak of Madera; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Nicholas "Cal," Andrew and George Korinchak; and a sister, Anna Mowchan. He was a member of the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving the European African Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal with a bronze service star and a Purple Heart. He worked in the coal mines for 42 years and retired from Beth Energy Mine 33, Ebensburg, in 1980. He was a member of UMWA, 1368 Local, Ebensburg and was a life member of the Coalport VFW and of the DAV, Altoona Chapter 34. He attended St. Mary's Annunciation Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ramey. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking and watching football and baseball. A Requiem Divine Liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Annunciation Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ramey, with Very Rev. Canon James E. Poorman officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Coalport VFW. Friends will be received 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, Coalport, where Parastisis will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday.

Frances "Fran" Koser
MECHANICSBURG - Frances "Fran" Koser, 77, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Lewistown, died Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at Cumberland Crossings, Carlisle. Born Oct. 28, 1924, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Harry A. and Mabel E. (McMullen) Bloom. Her husband, Donald J. Koser, preceded her in death. Surviving are: two sons, Donald J. Koser Jr., Sunset Beach, NC, and Stephen A. Koser, Hudson, FL, and a daughter, Francine A. Bowen, Mechanicsburg; a sister, Dona Wise, Harrisburg; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was the former owner/operator of Hair Fashions by Fran and a former employee of Book of the Month Club, both of Mechanicsburg. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mechanicsburg, past president of Junior Women's Club of Mechanicsburg and the Civic League of Mechanicsburg. Wayne R. Kramer
MCALISTERVILLE - Wayne R. Kramer, 65, of RR2, McAlisterville, died at 1:38 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, in the Lewistown Hospital. Born Nov. 11, 1936 in Fayette Township, Juniata County, a son of the late Earl A. and Sallie M. (Beaver) Kramer. His wife, Pauline (Yeater) Kramer, whom he married on June 15, 1955, survives. Also surviving are: three daughters, Loretta Ann Bradner, Reedsville, NC, Cindy Kay Swartz, McAlisterville, Susan I. Whitesel, Dallastown; two brothers, Meade E. Kramer, Beaver Springs, Leon W. Kramer, Mifflin; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry J. Kramer. For 43 years he was employed as a supervisor for Empire Kosher Poultry, Inc., Mifflintown, until his retirement 1998. He was a member of the McAlisterville United Methodist Church, McAlisterville, where he was President of the Trustees and sat on the Administrative Board. He enjoyed collecting and restoring cars and trucks and listening to gospel and country music. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, from the McAlisterville Chapel of the Brown Funeral Homes Inc., 16 Westfall St., McAlisterville, with Rev. Dr. Karl R. Herman officiating. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, RR1 McAlisterville. James H. Kratzer
BRIDGEPORT, CT - James H. Kratzer, 74, of Bridgeport, CT, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, in Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Oliver Township, PA, he had been a resident of Bridgeport for the past 48 years. His wife, Mildred Kinsloe Kratzer, survives. Also surviving are: a daughter, Miriam Sattanni and her husband Richard, Bridgeport; a brother, Richard Kratzer, Lewistown, two sisters, Phillis Dove, Martinsburg, WV, and Donna Carolus, McVeytown; a grandson, Ivan E. Byland Jr., a granddaughter, A. Lisa Prater and her jusband Bradley and a great-grandson, Matthew Prater; and several nieces and nephews. He was a retired employee of Carpenter Steel. His funeral service and interment will be private.

Olive M. Kratzer
Olive M. Kratzer, 83, formerly of Mt. Pleasant Mills and Richfield, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002 at Penn Lutheran Village Nursing Home, Selinsgrove. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from St. John's Lutheran Church, Mt. Pleasant Mills. A viewing will be held 7 -9 p.m. Monday at the George P. Garman Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant Mills, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday.

Roxie A. Kratzer
MCCLURE - Roxie A. Kratzer, 87, of McClure, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2002 at the Brandywine Hospital. She had been a resident of the Tel Hai Nursing Center, Honeybrook, for the past four and a half years. Born May 1, 1914, in West Beaver Twp., Snyder Co., she was the daughter of the late Henry Roswell and Clara May (Kahley) Lepley. Her husband, Roy L. Kratzer, whom she married May 29, 1937, preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 1997. Surviving are: a son and daughter-in-law, Herbert C. and Marilyn Kratzer, VMD Morgantown. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lillie Baker, Mary Kratzer and Bessie Gill, and five brothers, Charles A., Miles S., John Alvin, Cluney F. and Ralph Edward Lepley. Lenora J. Kreider
LEWISTOWN - Lenora J. Kreider, 73, of Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, died at 6:45 a.m. Sunday, March 24, 2002, at the home. Born March 9, 1926, in Altoona, she was a daughter of the late William H. and Mary (Brown) Buckel. Her husband, Elwood L. Kreider, preceded her in death. Surviving are: sisters, Mrs. George (Lois) Speece, Mifflintown, Jessie Hostler, WV, and Nancy Dilling, IN. She was preceded in death by a brother. She worked as a school teacher in Lancaster before retiring. She attended St. John's Lutheran Church, Lewistown. Her funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Gerald Krum officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Mountville Brethren Cemetery, Mountville, PA.

Brian N. Kremer
HONEY GROVE - Brian N. Kremer, 21, of RR1 Honey Grove, died Sunday morning at his residence. Born Nov. 1, 1980, in Lancaster, he was the son of J. Michael and Yolanda (Moose) Kremer of Honey Grove. Alma M. Krepps
REEDSVILLE - Alma M. Krepps, 84, of 67 Pearl St., Reedsville, died at 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, at the Lewistown Hospital Emergency Room. Born Jan. 16, 1918, in Milroy, she was a daughter of the late Charles F. and Estella (Kurtz) Headings. Her husband, Lawrence B. Krepps Sr., preceded her in death on April 18, 1986. Surviving are: a son, Lawrence B. Krepps Jr., Reedsville; sisters, Edna Armstrong, Reedsville, and Estella L. Betz, Baltimore, MD, and a brother, Jack E. Headings, Iowa Park, TX; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles E. Krepps, on Sept. 18, 2001, three brothers, Harry Headings, Theodore "Ted" Headings, Charles W.L. Headings, and five sisters, Belva Isabella Irene Headings, Margaret Stewart Morrison, Isabel R. Rudy, Ruth M. Dickson and Esther M. Headings. She was a clerk at G.C. Murphys in the 40's and she also worked as a seamstress out of her home. She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, Siglerville, and the Wide Awake Sunday School Class. She was a caregiver for family and friends and enjoyed bowling. Her funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Siglerville, with Pastor Rosalie N. Smith officiating. Interment will be in Salem Cemetery, Siglerville. Buddy H. Krepps
BELLEVILLE- Buddy H. Krepps, 66, of 20 Stony Brook, Belleville, passed away into eternal life at 10:07 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2002, in Middleburg. Born July 21, 1935 in Belleville, he was the son of the late Wesley and Alice (Smith) Krepps. His wife, Helen R. (Bigelow) Krepps, whom he married Sept. 8,1956, survives. Also surviving are: children, Mrs. Larry (Michele E.) Wagner, Belleville, Mrs. James (Daphne N.) Marthouse, Belleville, Bryan B. and Lisa Krepps, Reedsville, Wesley D. and Jameline Krepps, Belleville, and Mrs. Jay (Regina A.) Kanagy, Belleville; brothers and sisters, Martina Peachey, Lancaster, Elizabeth Sharp, Reedsville, Robert Krepps, Burnham, Jean Stoltzfus, Minnesota, Peggy Yoder, Reedsville, Hellen Zook, Belleville, and Zelda Krepps, Ohio; and 13 grandchildren, Matthew Yoder, Lacosta Yoder, Lindsey Marthouse, Casey Marthouse, Jordan Krepps, Tyler Krepps, Seth Krepps, Carma Krepps, Desiree Krepps, Janalee Krepps, Wade Krepps, Shana Kanagy, Mitchel Kanagy. He was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Krepps. He retired from New Holland in 1990. He Pastored at Mountain View Mennonite Church, Reedsville. He was the founder of Gateway Family Fellowship, Reedsville. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a member of United Missionary Evangelists of America, and Stony Run Mission Church, Kellerville. He lived a life of creativity and ministered in word and in song. He was a builder, teacher, a song writer, a pioneer and visionary. A funeral service will be held ar 10a.m. Wednesday at Gateway Fellowship, Reedsville, with Pastor James Neimand officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Belleville. There will be no public viewing. In lieu of flowers: donations should be sent to: Gateway, P.O. Box 11, Reedsville, PA 17084. Eugene S. Kritser
Eugene S. Kritser, 62, of 58C Welsh Drive, Lancaster, and formerly of Lewistown, died unexpectedly on Monday, Jan. 7, 2002. He was the son of the late William J. and Helen (Parson) Kritser. Survivng is his wife of 38 years, Terry A. Sheaffer Kritser. Also surviving are: children, Jeffrey S. Sheaffer, Lexington Park, MD, Robert E. Kritser, William J. Kritser and Lorri J. Kritser, all of Lancaster; sisters, Marietta Frankhouser, Reedsville, Janet Logan, Texas, Margaret Graybill, Mifflintown, and Mary Sue Farleman and Ruth Liddick, both of Lewistown; one brother, Richard Kritser, Millerstown; four granchildren and one great-grandchild. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served three tours of duty in Vietnam and one in Germany. He earned the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and other campaign and service medals. Raymond E. "Gene" Krout
LEWISTOWN - Raymond E. "Gene" Krout, 87, of 30 Krout Drive, Lewistown, died at 10:05 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, in Lewistown Hospital. Born Jan. 26, 1914, in Detroit, MI, he was the son of the late Walter and Blanche (Seachrist) Krout. He was the husband of Peggy (Wagner) Krout, who survives, and whom he married on Feb. 9, 1958. His first wife, Daisy K. (Fowler) Krout, died on Dec. 24, 1956. Surviving are: children, Mrs. W. Alan (Dolores) Deamer, York, Walter E. Krout, Mifflintown, Donald C. Krout, Milford, DE, Sharon R. Lockhart, York, and a step-daughter, Mrs. James (Sandy) Carolus, Lewistown; 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He was the last of his immediate family having been preceded in death by three half-brothers. Early in life he was employed at Standard Steel, Burnham, and later became owner/operator of Derry Decatur TV Cable Company which also served the Mifflinburg area, retiring in 1983 after 50 years of service. He was a pioneer of cable television in Mifflin County and established the first satellite system in the area. He also owned and operated the Krout Airport, where he gave flying lessons to area residents for many years and was affiliated with the Civil Air Patrol. He also managed the Mifflin County Airport and gave flying lessons there as well. He was a member of the Maitland Church of the Bretheran, the Men's Bible Class of the church, Lewistown Masonic Lodge #203, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Juniata Valley Forest #88, and a honorary member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilot's Association, having joined in 1943. He was also a life member of Lewistown Elks Lodge #663, Lewistown Moose Lodge #143, a life member of Decatur Fire Co., a life member of Derry Fire Co., and a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. His funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Maitland Church of the Bretheran, 315 Crossover Drive, Lewistown, with the Rev. Charles M. Eldredge officiating. Interment will be in Maitland Bretheran Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until the time of service Saturday, at the church. REEDSVILLE - Edna M. Kuhns, 93, of 173 Pine Tree Ln., Reedsville, died at 10:55 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at her residence. Born Jan. 16, 1909, in Mifflinburg, she was a daughter of the late Clayton and Nettie Jane Elizabeth (Wagner) Folk. Her husband, Forrie B. Kuhns, preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1992. Surviving are: nine children, Joyce Vandetti, Chaswald, DE, Donna Mitchell, Richard Kuhns Sr., both of Milroy, Barbara Fultz, Ferguson Valley Road, Nancy Bell, Lewistown, Patsy Kratzer, Reedsville, Robert Kuhn Sr., Reedsville, Connie Griffith, Milroy, and Clifford Kuhns Sr., Reedsville; 41 grandchildren, 77 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by two sons, William E. and Thomas H. Kuhns; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was a devoted housewife, mother and grandmother. Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, with the Rev. Joseph M. Westover officiating. Dale A. Kurtz Sr.
NEW GERMANTOWN - Dale A. Kurtz Sr., 31, of P.O. Box 69, New Germantown, died at 3:11 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002, at Carlisle Hospital, Carlisle. Born Jan. 1, 1971, in Lewistown, he was a son of David L. and Linda (Miller) Kurtz, 4358 East Main St., Belleville. His wife, Christine (Ripple) Kurtz, whom he married May 18, 1996, survives. Also surviving are: three children, Ariona N. Ripple, Dale A. Kurtz Jr., and Justin D. Kurtz, all of home; a brother, Michael L. Kurtz, Belleville; and maternal grandmother, Mary E. Miller, Drifting. He was a graduate of Kishacoquillas High School, Class of 1989. He worked as a Butcher at Sea Brite Corp., Dry Run. Early in life he attended Allensville Presbyterian Church, Allensville. His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Allensville Presbyterian Church, Rt. 655, Allensville with Rev. Geoffrey A. Huish officiating. Interment will be in Allensville Presbyterian Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church. There will be no public viewing. Born Dec. 27, 1938, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Arnold W. and Bertha (James) Carlson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert H. Kurtz Jr., on Nov. 25, 1994. Surviving are: two brothers, Terry D. Carlson, Milroy, and Brian C. Carlson, Lewistown; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. She was a homemaker.
