HONEY GROVE - Haroldean G. Pentz, 73, of East Waterford, died Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at his home. Born Feb. 3, 1929, in York County, he was the son of the late Maurice and Pauline (Gentzler). His wife, M. Barbara (Bouy) Pentz, survives. Also surviving are: two sons, Duane E. and Devin S. Pentz, both of York; two step-sons, Rick L. Kahl of RR 1 Mifflinburg and Allen J. Kahl of New Berlin; a step-daughter, Eugenia Reeber of Red Lion; and four grandchildren. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a pressman for Standard Register, York, retiring after 39 years. He worked most recently for the Henry Funeral Home, Honey Grove. He attended South Juniata Baptist Church, Honey Grove, and held memberships with East Waterford Fire Co., Lack-Tuscarora EMS, American Legion of Spring Run, York Rifleman Club (life member), Circle T Riding Club and The Clique Trailriders Assoc. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday from the South Juniata Baptist Church, RR 1 Honey Grove. Interment will be in East Waterford Cemetery. Elsie M. Peterman
NEWPORT- Elsie M. Peterman, 82, of Creekview Drive, Newport, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, in Harrisburg Hospital. Born May 17, 1920, in Mifflin County, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Ida (Reed) Campbell. Her husband, Edgar "Pete" Peterman, survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Connie L. Bitting of Newport and Vicki M. Henry of Enola; a step-son, Peter Peterman of Douglas, GA; a step-daughter, Dottie Oberholtzer of Taylor, SC; six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was retired from PennDOT. She was a Protestant by faith. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Newport. She had a strong bond with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who she loved and enjoyed dearly. She also enjoyed her pet dogs, Winnie, Heidi and Blessing, playing bingo, talking on the phone, trips to Atlantic City and Charleston, and crocheting. Funeral services will be held ar 10 a.m. Monday from the Myers Funeral Home, Newport. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Duncannon. A viewing will be held 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Emma C. Peters
MILLERSTOWN - Emma C. Peters, 73, of 65 North Market Street, Millerstown, died at 8:20 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, at her home. Born Jan. 30, 1929 in Beale Township, Juniata County, a daughter of the late Bradford and Daisy Ruth (Stitt) Crozier. Her husband, Marlyn W. "Pete" Peters whom she married Nov. 25, 1952, survives. Also surviving are: two sons, Steven A. Peters, York Haven, Mark E. Peters, Etters; one brother, Max Crozier, Zendt Nursing Home, Richfield; four sisters, Daisy Clark, Port Royal, Anna Guss, Harrisburg, Beulah Kauffman, RR3 Mifflintown, Bea Sheesley, Tuscon, AZ; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: one son, Danny C. Peters on July 12, 1979; a brother, Harold Crozier; and a sister, Agnes Scott. She was a 1947 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, she had been a Sunday School teacher. She had been Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and enjoyed supporting Little League Baseball. She had served as a Teacher's Aid at Greenwood Elementary School. In her early life she had been employed by the Engineering Dept. of Bell Telephone Co., Harrisburg, but she enjoyed most being a homemaker because her life interest was her family. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, from the Lower Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, Academia with the Rev. Edward M. Task officiating. Interment will be held in the Riverview Cemetery, Millerstown. There will be no public viewing, however, friends may call from 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Millerstown Ambulance League, Millerstown, PA 17062. Hugh H. "Pete" Peters
BERKELEY SPRINGS, WV - Hugh H. "Pete" Peters, 77, of Berkeley Springs, WV, died Monday, March 18, 2002, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA. Born Feb. 19, 1925, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Homer W. and Martha Florence (McKee) Peters. His wife of 54 years, Nancy Lee (Bobb) Peters, survives. Also surviving are: a daughter, Beth (Peters) Curtin, Berkeley Springs, WV; a brother, Marlyn W. Peters, Millerstown; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Philip Hugh Peters, a brother, Ronald E. Peters, and a grandchild, Cale Alexander Peters. He was employed as an electrical engineer at U.S. Silica Company for 33 years. A graduate of the Indiana Institute of Technology, he was a member of the West Virginia Society of Professional Engineers and a veteran of the United States Navy. He was also a member of the Berkeley Springs Lions Club and Lewistown Masonic Lodge #203. Honored by the Morgan County Economic Development Authority for his public service, he volunteered his time and talents with 4-H Camp Frame, Morgan Co. Library, the Chamber of Commerce, American Red Cross, Humane Society of Morgan County and the Apple Butter Festival. He was a member of The First Baptist Church of Lewistown, and served as their youngest deacon. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2002, at the First Baptist Church, Lewistown, with the Rev. Dr. Jeffrey McCleary officiating. Interment will be private. Marvin Ira 'Pete' Peters
REEDSVILLE - Marvin Ira "Pete" Peters, 74, of 59 Woodland Circle, Reedsville, entered into eternal rest at 4:55 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002. Born Feb. 28, 1928, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Robert Clay and Ruth (Renard) Peters. Since March 3, 1950 he has shared his life with Mary Elizabeth (Orr) Peters. Also surviving are: two daughters, Susan Diane Bricker, Reading, and Judi Lee Oleski, Chapel Hill, NC; and four grandchildren, Ryan and Mackenzie Bricker, and Tyler and Elliot Oleski. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert R. Peters on Dec. 28, 1999. He had been an Insurance Adjuster with State Farm Ins., and Industrial Salesman with Sherwin Williams Paint, and he worked in the maintenance Dept. at Lewistown Hospital. He held offices and was an active member at Church Hill United Methodist Church, Reedsville, and instrumental in organizing Lewistown Hospital Chorus. His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Church Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard J. Bender officiating. Interment will be held in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown. There will be no public viewing, however, the family will receive friends Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service time at the church. Patricia N. Peterson
MIFFLIN - Patricia N. Peterson, 69, of HC 67 Mifflin (Nook), died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. Born Nov. 4, 1932 in Beale Township, Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Agnes (Henry) Nipple. Her husband of 51 years, Harold W. Peterson, survives. Also surviving are: two sons, H. Christopher Peterson, East Lansing, MI and Gerald W. Peterson, Ft. Wayne, IN; a sister, Miriam N. Wilson, McAlisterville; and six grandchildren. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Mifflintown and the Juniata County Library. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Henry Funeral Home, Honey Grove, with the Pastor Harold N. Imes officiating. Interment will be in St. Pauls Cemetery, Nook. Evelyn E. Pheasant
MCCLURE - Evelyn E. Pheasant, 87, of Walker St., McClure, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, at home following an extended illness. Born March 28,1915 in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late William and Rosa (Axtell) Woerz. Her husband, Harold"Jack" Pheasant, whom she married June 5, 1971, survives. Also surviving are: three daughters, Barbara Boeck, Lebec, CA, Shirley Bates and Mrs. Donald (Sandra) White, both of Jamestown; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Jay (Ruth) Ballentine, Chester, MD; two sisters Mrs. Ralph (Mildred) Rauch, Greenville and Mrs. Ted (Louise) Carr, Jamestown; 13 grandchildren,18 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son Ronald Bates; a brother, Earl Woerz; a sister, Anna Lunn; and a grandson Rodney Gelvin. She retired from the quality assurance department of Packard Electric Corp. in 1971 after 20 years of service. She was of Lutheran faith. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and canning.

Nancy H. Pheasant
SELINSGROVE - Nancy H. Pheasant, 65, of Selinsgrove, died at 3:35 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, at Penn Lutheran Village, Selinsgrove. Born Dec. 29, 1936, in Thompsontown, Juniata County, she is the daughter of Helen F. (Forney) Heath of Locust Grove Retirement Village, HC 67, Mifflin and the late John F. Heath. Also surviving are: a brother, J. Frederick Heath, Thompsontown; two nieces, Joy S. Beaudry, Gaithersburg, MD, and Debbie C. Winey, Mt. Pleasant Mills; two nephews, Dennis F. Heath, RR1, Liverpool, and J. Michael Sausman, Cranberry Township. She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty H. Sausman. She was a 1954 graduate of East Juniata High School and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Lock Haven State College and a Masters Degree from Penn State University. She was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Shamokin Dam, where she served as an administrative assistant. She also was an authorized lay worship leader at the Upper Susquehanna Synod of Evangelical Lutheran Churches in America. She retired from the Selinsgrove Center as the Director of Therapeutic Recreation. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Thompsontown with Rev. Louise L. Reynolds, Rev. Wayne Muthler, Rev. MarthaSue Moll, and Rev. Lois Martin officiating. Interment will be in Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Thompsontown. There will be no viewing. Kenneth Eugene 'Ken' Phillips
GILPIN COUNTY, CO - Kenneth Eugene "Ken" Phillips, 64, of Gilpin County, CO, died Tuesday, June 18, 2002. Born April 29, 1938, in Lewistown, he was the son of Olive Ross of Yeagertown and the late Fred Phillips. Also surviving are: children, David Phillips, Westcliff, CO, and Susan Stuter, Reedsville; two brothers, Ron Phillips, Yeagertown, and Fred Phillips, Middleburg; two grandchildren, Erica McCaffrey, Reedsville, and Chandra McCaffrey, Lewistown, two great-grandchildren, Lindsay Morgan, Reedsville, and Claudia Holbrook, Lewistown. He was self-employed and a broker for Remax Reality for nine years. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran having served from 1956 - 1960. A memorial gathering was held June 24 at the Phillips residence in Gilpn County, CO.

Blair L. Pierce
LEWISTOWN - Blair L. Pierce, 79, of 303 Terrace Boulevard, Lewistown, died at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at his residence. Born July 8, 1923, in Hawstone, he was the son of the late Isaac H. and Clarissa M. (Chamberlain) Pierce. His wife, Mary (Bachman) Pierce, preceded him in death on Jan. 30, 1974. Surviving are a daughter, Colleen Y. Pierce, 303 Terrace Boulevard, Lewistown; three sisters, Virginia Hetrick, Belleville, Mabel Bubb, Deep Run, NC, and Anna Mary Decker, RD Lewistown; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Edward (Ethel) Bachman Cipollini, Phillipsburg; and two grandchildren, Christine (Pierce) Prough and her husband, Steve, and Matthew Pierce. He was preceded in death by a son, Leslie B. Pierce Jr. on March 3, 1999 and two brothers. He was employed at Cyklop, retiring in 1990 with 47 years of service. Early in life he worked for American Viscose (1941-1972) and worked for many years as a TV repairman. He was a member of the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a Methodist by faith. Dorothy E. Pierce
MECHANICSBURG - Dorothy E. Pierce, 87, formerly of Granville, died at 6:55 a.m. Tuesday Aug. 27, 2002, at the Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg. Born Nov. 19, 1914, in Ferguson Valley, Mifflin County, she was a daughter of the late Roy E. and Margaret (Donehey) Scyoc. Her husband, Charles E. Pierce, died April 27, 1998. Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Rita) Ranck, Mechanicsburg; a sister, Tillie Pierce of Lewistown; and two grandsons, Stephen and Andrew Ranck. She was preceded in death by: three brothers, Richard, William and Warren Scyoc; and two sisters, Esther Narehood and Mabel Kramer. She worked as an Assistant Administrator at the Malta Home for 10 years. Early in life she was employed at American Viscose Corp. for 8 years. She was a member of Granville United Methodist Church, she was the primary Sunday School class teacher for over 35 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, the Granville Township Fire Company Auxiliary and the Malta Home Auxiliary. Joseph A. Pinto
REEDSVILLE - Joseph A. Pinto, 73, of 1301 Honey Creek Rd, Reedsville, died Saturday morning Sept. 14, 2002, at his residence. Born May 5, 1929, in Scranton, he was a son of the late Joseph and Stella (Buckavich) Pinto. His wife, Naomi E. (Huffman) Pinto, whom he married July 16, 1983, survives. Also surviving are: four children, Joseph, Pinto, Bristol, Steven Pinto, Granville, John Pinto, S. Carolina, Laura Byrd, Charity Lane, AL; three step-children, Michele R. Demaree, Palmyra, Sondra M. Liddick, Lewistown, Anita J. Powers, Lewistown; a sister, Caroline Katchur, and a brother, Jack Pinto, both of Philadelphia; a large number of grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, John Pinto Jr. He retired from Trinity Plastics in 1994. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Clyde D. Pollard
ROARING SPRING - Clyde Pollard, 44, of 402 Main Street, Roaring Spring, died Sunday, June 16, 2002, due to complications with diabetes. Born May 31, 1958, in Roaring Spring, he was the son of Judith (Stimely) Pollard of Newry, and Clyde F. and Carol Pollard of Duncansville. He is survived by a daughter, Nicole of Duncansville RD, his parents, two sisters and a brother, Sharby Shriver of Roaring Spring, Tina Giarth of Newry, and Richard Blaine of Danville, VA. He is also survived by his grandparents, Ray and Martha Stimely of Lewistown, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Timothy. He was a 1976 graduate of Central High School. He was formerly employed at the Morrison Cove Home. He was a member of the Bare Memorial Church of God, Roaring Spring. He was a Jeff Gordon racing fan and enjoyed flea markets and photography. His funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the J. Gary Thompson Funeral Home, Roaring Spring, with Pastor David S. Glenn W. Pollock
MCVEYTOWN - Glenn W. Pollock, 69, of Ridge Road, McVeytown, died at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002 at his home. Boen February 26, 1932 in Wayne Township, he was a son of the late Clell and Mary (Cutshall) Pollock. His wife of 48 years, Dorothy L. (Walter) Pollock, survives. Also surviving are: children, Randall E. Pollock, Lewistown, Mrs. Stephen (Laura) Borth, Biglerville, and Steven W. Pollock, Newport; siblings, Mrs. Lewis (Helen) Rinker, Mount Umion, Mrs. Thomas (Elva) Palmer, Fayetteville, Mrs. Leroy (Edna) Snyder, Mount Union, Mrs. George (Darlene) Idomir, McVeytown, Mrs. Herbert (Shirley) Copenhaver, Lewistown, Mrs. Charles (Katherine) Snyder, Lewistown, Dale Pollock, Lewistown, Merle Pollock, Pittsburgh, and Gary Pollock, James Creek; three grandchildren, Michael Borth, Jonathan Borth and Victoria Pollock. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Early in life he worked at the Harbison Walker Refractories, Moun Union, and later was employed as an independant over the road truckdriver for 32 years, before retiring in 1991. He served as a driver and EMT for the McVeytown Ambulance Association, and was a member of the McVeytown Fire Company Auxiliary and the McVeytown Lions Club. He was also a member of the Teamsters Union. He will be fondly remembered for his generosity and sense of humor. His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 South Market St., McVeytown, with the Rev. Jacob Traxler officiating. Charles M. Poorman
LEWISTOWN - Charles M. Poorman, 60, of 145 Pannebaker Ave., Lewistown died at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002 at his home. Born April 10, 1942, in Altoona, he was the son of the late Dorothy Poorman. His wife, Carol (Coulter) Poorman, whom he married on July 1, 1973, survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Shelly Poorman of Lewistown; three sisters, two brothers and three half-brothers. He was preceded in death by a sister. He worked at Sitkins Industries for 15 years and at Treaster's Exxon for 10 years. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with Rev. John Walters officiating. Interment will be in Pine Glen Cemetery, Lewistown. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.

Mabel E. Potter
MIFFLINTOWN - Mabel E. Potter, of Manbeck Heights, Mifflintown, died at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2002, at Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin. Born in Mifflintown, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Susan (Buffington) Potter. Surviving are: a sister, Arlene Gilson of Rutherford, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. She was co-owner of the Potter Bus Company, Mifflintown. Her hobbies included piloting small airplanes, playing golf and taking care of her yard. Her funeral service and interment in the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown will be at the convenience of the family. Ronald L. 'Ron' Powell
MIFFLINTOWN - Ronald L. "Ron" Powell, 56, of RR2, Mifflintown, died at 10:25 a.m Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at his home. Born Feb. 25, 1946, in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he was the son of the late Walter G. and Edna (Harris) Powell. His wife, Patricia E. (Hill) Powell, whom he married on June 13, 1964, survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Barbara J. Freyermuth of Dillsburg and Cherie A. Rath of New Jersey; two brothers, Edward Powell and John Powell, both of Lewistown; three grandsons and one granddaughter. He was a graduate of Lewistown-Granville High School, Lewistown. He was a member of IBEW Local #1925, Martin, TN and Union Lodge #324 F&AM, Mifflintown. He was an electrician for 35 years and retired as a Journeyman Wireman for IBEW Local #1925, Martin, TN. He enjoyed deep-sea fishing, woodworking, gardening, yard work and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Funeral services will be private with Rev. Harold N. Imes officiating. E. Jane Hart Zimmerman Pressler
MIFFLINTOWN - E. Jane Hart Zimmerman Pressler went to be with the Lord Sunday, July 28, 2002, at Brookline Manor, RR1, Mifflintown, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born May 8, 1923, in Mapleton Depot, Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of Noah and Emma Yocum. Her husband, Paul Pressler of Mifflintown, survives. Also surviving are: a son, Paul Hart and his wife Judy, Port Royal, a daughter, Martha Brindley and her husband John, Akron, OH; a sister, Mary Culbertson and her husband Glen, Mifflintown; grandchildren, Michael Orr, Thomas, Timothy and Rondy Brindley and Martha Ann Hart, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; special nieces, Joan Clark and Nancy Burdge; her special friend, Barb Daup and many more special relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by husbands, Roy F. "Shorty" Hart and Paul Zimmerman and a son, Roy A. Hart. She was a member of the Arch Rock United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing and square dancing. She was loved by everybody she met and never met a stranger. We would like to thank the employees at Brookline Manor for all their loving care of Mother. Anna F. Price
LEWISTOWN - Anna F. Price, 76, resident of Beverly-Healthcare William Penn and formerly of Kish Apartments, died at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 4, 2002, at the nursing home. Born Nov. 1, 1925, in Mifflin County, she was the daughter of the late James P. and Mary H. (Beers) Baumgardner. Surviving are: children, Mrs. William (Connie) Stuter, Reedsville, Mrs. Ed (Jean) Zampelli, Tower Hill Road, Lewistown, James Price, Granville, John Price, West Fourth Street, Lewistown, Carol Dupert, Kish Apartments; two sisters, Betty Davis, Lake City, Mrs. Donald (Ethel) Mellinger, 509 Green Ave, Lewistown; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Price. She was employed at Empire Kosher, Mifflintown for 22 years, retiring in 1987. She was a Methodist by faith. She was a member of United Fire & Rescue, Brooklyn Hose Company, Mifflin County Firemen's Association and the Loyal Order of Moose Auxiliary. Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Ronald Lynch officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. Jack A. Price
MILTON - Jack A. Price, 77, a resident of Manor Care North, Milton, a 1957-1982 resident of Lewistown, died at 12:05 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2002. His wife, Sally R. Stern, whom he married Oct. 4, 1945, survives. He worked at Sitkin Smelting and Refinery in management. The funeral was held Tuesday, April 2, in Allen and Red-mond Funeral Home with Rabbi Mac Portal officiating. Interment was in Ohev Shalom Cemetery.

William H. Price
LEWISTOWN - William H. Price, 76, a resident of Beverly Healthcare William Penn, formerly of N. Walnut St., Lewistown, died at 3:35 p.m. Sunday Sept. 8, 2002, at the nursing home. Born April 25, 1926, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late William E. and Frances (Daughendaugh) Price. His wife, Doris J. (Shields) Price, preceded him in death on Nov. 29, 1993. Surviving are: three children, Sherry L. Price, 614 Maple Ave., Lewistown, Lynda J. (Price) Paulson, Phoenixville, Scott W. Price, Chestnut St., Lewistown; a brother, Philip E. Price, W. 5th St., Lewistown; a niece and two grandchildren. He was employed in the maintenance department of Standard Steel, as a pipefitter, retiring in 1992. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Fame Fire Co. & City Hook and Ladder. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc. with the Rev. Charles W. Sprenkle officiating. Interment will be in the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown. A viewing will be from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mildred M. 'Mimi' Pry
LEWISTOWN - Mildred M. "Mimi" Pry, 92, of Ohesson Manor Nursing Home, Lewistown, died at 3:55 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, at the nursing home. Born April 20, 1910, in Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late William and Ida Ann (Smith) Pry. Surviving are: two sisters, Gertrude A. Palm, Ohesson Manor, and Myrtle Holland, Tallmadge, Ohio; and also survived by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters. Early in life she was employed by American Viscose Corp., Lewistown. Later she retired from the Arrow Division of Cluett Peabody and Company in 1972. She was a Jehovah's Witness. She was an avid gardener, a lover of nature, enthusiastic about her hometown Lewistown and a faithful follower of Penn State Football. Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown with Mr. Kurt McKinney Sr., officiating. Interment will be private in Lind Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home. There will be no public viewing. Anna Margaret (Bowersox) Pugh
ATASCADERO, CA - Anna Margaret (Bowersox) Pugh, 95, formerly of Newton Hamilton, Mifflin County, died Saturday, March 2, 2002, in Atascadero, CA. She was born August 23, 1906, in Snyder County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, a son, four sisters, and three brothers. She is survived by a son, a daughter, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. There is no public viewing. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice. The Chapel of the Roses Funeral Home in Atascadero is handling the arrangements.

Helen Grace Purcell
YEAGERTOWN - Helen Grace Purcell, 92, of Ohesson Manor, formerly of South Mann Ave., Yeagertown, died at 12:09 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002 at Lewistown Hospital. Born May 5, 1910, in Burnham, she was a daughter of the late Charles R. and Francelia (Knepp) McKinley. Her husband, Alfred I. Purcell, died April 14, 1979. Surviving are: four children, Eugene N. Purcell, N. Main St., Yeagertown, Gerald E. Purcell, Shaw Avenue, Lewistown, Peggy A. Goss, Summit Drive, Lewistown, and Mrs. John (Linda S.) Purcell Price, Logan St., Lewistown; a brother, Irvin R. McKinley, Spruce St., Lewistown; 11 grandchildren,15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by a brother, George McKinley and a sister, Mary Crompton. She was a homemaker. Early in life she worked at American Viscose Corporation. She was a member of Holy Communion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Yeagertown, Rose Circle Sunday School Class, Knotty Ladies Sewing Class, Bell Choir at Ohesson Manor, Representative of Residents Council of Ohesson Manor, Lutheran Church Women of Holy Communion Church, and Resident Volunteer of Ohesson Manor. Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham with Rev. Philip C. Tundel officiating. Interment will be private in Juniata Memorial Park. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Bessie E. Purdy
BURNHAM - Bessie E. Purdy, 83, of 224 Fourth Ave., Burnham, died at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at Beverly Healthcare-William Penn. Born March 17, 1919, in Center, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Wesley and Elva (Yohn) Pannebaker. Her husband, R. William Purdy, whom she married Aug. 30, 1935, survives. Surviving are: two children, R. Jack Purdy, Omaha, NB, and Mrs. Philip (Ruth) Neff, Wilmington, NC; three sisters, Mildred Bollinger, and Ethel Abrashoff, both of Akron, OH, and Mrs. Kenneth (Evelyn) Park, Mapleton Depot; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers and a grandson. Early in life she was employed at Fisher Electronics, Milroy, Goss Candy, Lewistown and Servomation at Standard Steel, Burnham. She was a life long Christian and 37 year member of Calvary Bible Church, Lewistown. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown with Rev. Howard Houtz officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park Cemetery.
