Leonard E. Tate Sr.
MCCLURE - Leonard E. Tate Sr., 68, of 5789 Back Maitland Rd., McClure, died at 8:15 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2002, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born May 3, 1933, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late G. Fred and Pearl A. (Miller) Tate Jr. His wife, Betty (Wise) Tate, whom he married May 13, 1951, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Mrs. Bob (Connie) Fromn, McClure, Deborah Bufalini, McClure, Mrs. James (Sue) Youtzy, Granville, Nancy Tate, McClure, Wendy Gregg, Boaz, AL, Leonard E. Tate Jr., McClure, and Jodi Tate, Lewistown; brother and sisters, Norman Tate, Newport, Mrs. George (Barbara) Lilley, Yeagertown, Jane Tate, Yeagertown, Mary Lou Page, Yeagertown, and Sharon McAteer, Yeagertown; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Tate, and two brothers.
Early in life, he worked at Standard Steel, Burnham, and later as a truck driver for Derry Limestone Inc., Lewistown, before retiring due to a disability.
His funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Jacob T. Traxler officiating. Interment will be in Birch Hill Cemetery, Burnham.

Donald M. Taylor
LEWISTOWN - Donald M. Taylor, 73, formerly of Third St. Lewistown, died at 8:55 p.m. Tuesday Aug. 27, 2002, at William Penn Beverly Healthcare.
Born March 23, 1929, in Burnham, he was a son of the late Scott H. Taylor. His mother, Edith Shatzer Wike, survives in Florida.
Also surviving are: four children, Donald T. Taylor, David A. Taylor, Donna J. Kryder and Scott Taylor, all of Indiana; two sisters, Edith Day Sassman, and Virginia Wilson, both of Florida; half brother, Gary Wike of Florida; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was a self-employed truck driver and salesman for Ferry Seed, Fulton, Kentucky.
He was a member of the Owl's Club, Junction and Brooklyn fire companies.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.

MANCHESTER - Janet L. (Barger) Teenie, 61, of Manchester, died at 2:05 a.m. at York Hospital. She was the wife of Jesse Teenie to whom she was married to for 43 years on September 21.
Born Feb. 2, 1940, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Dewey and Esther (Krick) Barger.
Surviving are: a daughter, Linda Hollinger, Manchester; a sister, Dorothy Wilson, Mifflintown; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, 4360 Board Rd., Manchester.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 87 S. Main St., Mt. Wolf, with Rev. Robert Pickering from St. Paul United Methodist Church, Manchester, officiating. Interment will be in Manchester Union Cemetery, Manchester.

LEWISTOWN - Paul F. Teenie, 56, of 186 Summit Drive, Lewistown, died at 8:20 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2002, in the emergency room at Lewistown Hospital.
Born July 10, 1945, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Jesse F. and Ethel I. (Tate) Teenie.
His wife, Ruth Ann (Wells) Teenie, whom he married June 6, 1970, survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Paula Ann Yorks, and a son, Mark W. Teenie, both of Lewistown; four sisters, Mrs. Roland (Julia) Stravolo of Lewistown, Mrs. Ray (Lois) Hartman of Alpharetta, GA, Ann M. Teenie of Lewistown and Joan E. Hampton of Newtown; a brother, Jesse A. Teenie of Manchester and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lee F. Teenie and Carl L. Teenie.
He worked as superintendent of the Wheel Section of Machine Shop I at Standard Steel before retiring in Sept. 2000 with 34 years of service.
He served in the United States Army.
He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Lewistown and of United Steelworkers of America Local 1940.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Lewistown, with Father Thomas Marickovic officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park Cemetery.

LEWISTOWN - Florence F. Tell, 83, of 841 S. Main St., Lewistown, died at 12:30 a.m. Monday Aug. 19, 2002 at Beverly Healthcare-William Penn.
Born July 24, 1919, in Mansfield Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Elsa (Maxwell) McCoy. Her husband, Robert G. Tell, preceded her in death on July 10, 1989.
Surviving are: five step-children, Roberta Abernathy of Bloomingtown, MD, Robert G. Tell Jr. of Illinois, Kimberly Hartman of MD, Thomas Tell of MD, and James Rust of Ohio; and twin sister, Francis Carsner of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by one sister.
She was a housewife.
A private funeral will be held. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.

LEWISTOWN A. Reed Thompson Jr., 83, of 49 Logan St., Lewistown, died at 9:30 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2002, at his residence.
Born Aug. 20, 1918, in Mahaffey, Clearfield County, he was a son of the late A. Reed and Lena (Henderson) Thompson Sr. His wife, Joyce Wilson, whom he married in 1941, survives.
He is survived by two brothers, Edward and Jack Thompson, both of Lewistown.
He was preceded in death by a son, William in 1965.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was a life member of N.R.A.
He was employed at Frieden and IPS as a Designing Engineer.
His graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Juniata Memorial Park, with the Rev. Charles W. Sprenkle officiating.

MCVEYTOWN - Ruth A. Thompson, 67, of 128 Schoolhouse Rd., McVeytown, died at 12:23 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2002, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born Nov. 17, 1934, in Mifflin Co., she was a daughter of the late Thomas Confer and Annie Jane Hook.
Surviving are: children, Mrs. Charles (Jane E.) Specht Yorks, 128 Schoolhouse Rd., McVeytown; stepdaughters, Patricia A. (Thompson) Wilson, 1 Steele Dr., Lewistown, and Dottie L. (Thompson) Bumgardner, 720 W. 5th St., Lewistown; a sister, Doris Virginia Ritchey, Granville Run, Lewistown; grandchildren, Billie J. Williams and Charles W. Yorks Jr., step-grandchildren, Brad A. McCardle and Angie B. Felmlee, five great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
She was a Special Needs Aide at the Selinsgrove Center for 25 years, before retiring in 1998.
She was an avid reader and loved country music and travelling to the South.

CLINTON, MD - Joseph E. Till, 89, of 12733 Pierson Dr., Waldorf, MD died at 8:25 a.m. March 19, 2002, in Southern Maryland Hospital, Clinton, MD.
Born June 26, 1912, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Joseph E. and Della (Biggs) Till Sr. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura S. Till, on Dec. 17, 2000.
Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Sharon) Webster, Waldorf, MD; two brothers, Edward Hayes, Cocoa Beach, FL, and Richard Hayes, Mechanicsville, MD; a niece, Mrs. Donald (Sandy) Cramer, Lewistown; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Till and William Hayes.
He was a banker for the National Bank of Washington and served during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
His Christian Wake will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Father Lawrence R. Coakley officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown, with a graveside military service conducted by VFW Post 7011.

Robert L. Tittle
PORT ROYAL - Robert L. Tittle, 77, of 807 Milford St., Port Royal, died at 2:25 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2002 at the Lewistown Hospital.
Born July 24, 1924, in Denholm, Juniata County, he was the son of the late John Roy and Mary Ruth (Leonard) Tittle. His wife Darline I. (Davis) Tittle, whom he married March 1, 1945, survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Ruth Laentenia "Teenie" Eaton of Elliottsburg and Nedra Jane Bair of RR2 Port Royal; four grandchildren, Missi Bair-Gulick, Robert S. Bair, both of RR2 Port Royal, Heidi Darline Reisinger of Elliottsburg and Julie Ann Thebes of New Bloomfield; two great-grandsons, Jebadiah Reisinger and Joseph Reisinger; and several aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, John Robert Tittle, on May 15, 1950.
He attended Port Royal High School and later graduated from Lewistown High School and Journeyman's Electrical School.
He was a Rifle Marksman in the U.S. Marine Corps and served during World War II in Guadalcanal, Bougainville and Guam. He was wounded in battle and received two Purple Hearts and a Marksmanship Medal. He was discharged from the Marine Corps on Dec. 22, 1944 due to disability.
He was an electrician with IBEW Local #143 Harrisburg.
He was a member of the Port Royal Lutheran Church, a life member of the National Rifle Assoc. and was nominated to the NRA Millennium Honor Roll.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today from the Port Royal Lutheran Church with Pastor Marton Robertson officiating. Burial will be in the Goodwill Cemetery, RR2 McAlisterville, where full military burial honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.
A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service today at the church.

Born July 31, 1929, in Bucks Valley, Perry County, she was a daughter of the late James Floyd and Tirza A. (Howe) Kessler. Her husband, James M. Towsey, whom she married Feb. 21, 1959, survives.

Born Feb. 17, 1908, at Scot Run, he was the son of the late George H. and Blanche (Sliker) Transue.

He was the last of his immediate family.
He was a retired heavy equipment operator for the Pennsylvania Highway Department in Monroe County and served in the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II.

Born Sept. 5, 1937, in Milroy, he was a son of the late Lewis Holmes and Grace L. (Kerstetter) Treaster.

He was a truck driver for Village Kitchens, Milroy.

THOMPSONTOWN - John P. Troutman, 85, of RR1 Box 78 East Salem, Thompsontown, died at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at his residence.
Born July 18, 1915, in Lebanon, he was the son of the late Walter and Stella (Bright) Troutman. His wife, Edith C. (Hamer) Troutman, preceded him in death on Sept. 21, 1997.
Also surviving are: four sisters, Esther Kilbirde, Philadelphia, Jane Claire, Philadelphia, Sara Foster, NJ, and Mary Foster, Lebanon; grandchildren, Kristine (Sheaffer) Pollock, Elizabethtown, and Craig M. Sheaffer, Reedsville; great-grandchildren, Sydney Pollock, Elizabethtown, Tori Pollock, Elizabethtown, and Benjamin Sheaffer, Lewistown.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna (Troutman) Sheaffer, a granddaughter, Kathleen Ann Sheaffer, three brothers and two sisters.
Early in life he worked at Reuben's Sporting Goods, owned and operated a vending route and his own restaurant, and then worked at Miss Fashionality as a Shipping/Receiving Supervisor. After retirement he worked at Schlegel's Grocery Store part-time.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WW II having served on the USS Fleming Destroyer Escort DE32.
He was a member of Destroyer Escort Sailors Association, Destroyer Escort Historical Foundation and the U.S. Navy Memorial Foundation.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with his nephew Dennis Getz officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ivan R. Troyer, 2-year-old son of Raymond E. and Lomie A. (Wengerd) Troyer of Mifflintown RR2 (Van Wert), died at 10:45 pm Tuesday at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville as a result of injuries received from a horse.

LEWISTOWN - Beatrice G. Trutt, 80, of 120 Chestnut St., Lewistown, died at 3:50 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born April 5, 1921, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late John L. Niman and Stella (Goss) Niman Silks. Her husband, Pharis N. "Pap" Trutt Sr., whom she married March 27, 1942, survives.
Also surviving are: six children, Bonnie McConnell, Mrs. Samuel (Nancy) Ematat, Pharis N. "Sonny" Trutt Jr., Mrs. Thomas (Joyce) Harper Harris III, Gregory Scott Trutt, all of Lewistown, and Mrs. Douglas (Laurie) Treaster, Belleville; two sisters, Dorothy May and Mrs. John (Arietta) Osborne, both of Lewistown; 24 grandchildren; and 28 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Early in life, she was employed at Friedens Inc. and then at Scotty's Fashions for 11 years, retiring in 1984.
She was a member of the Milroy CMA Church.

Born Dec. 31, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Myrtle (Calhoun) Bowers. Her husband, Bradly L. Turbett, preceded her in death on June 11, 1991.
Surviving are: children, Larry K. Turbett, Memphis TN, and Mrs. Tim (Cindy) Gutzwiller, Altoona; a sister, Mrs. Harvey (Beatrice) Fettig, RR1 Port Royal; 4 grandchildren, 1 foster grandchild and 1 great-granddaughter.
She was a graduate of Port Royal High School. She was a retired seamstress having worked for the former Rae-Sel Corporation, Port Royal.

Born June 23, 1943, in Milroy, she was a daughter of Anita J. (Aumiller) Deamer, Milroy and the late Alvin R. Heimbaugh. Her husband, Richard K. Tyson, whom she married Aug. 3, 1979, survives.
Also surviving are: eight children, Anita L. Nichols, Reedsville, Jeannee D. Swanger, Milroy, James D. Stains, Lewistown, Theresa K. Wheeler, Rebersburg, Danielle Knight, Milroy, Rick L. Tyson, Rebersburg, Leanna J. Rocky, Loganton, and Sydney D. Tyson, Virginia Beach, VA; a sister, Alicia C. Rahauser, Centre Hall; 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ashley R. and Andrew B. Heimbaugh.
She was a LPN working at Malta Home, Granville and dedicated her life to nursing. She loved her family and was an outgoing person who was passionate about traveling, fishing, gardening, and the outdoors.
She attended Milroy Pilgrim Holiness Church.

Born March 20, 1924, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late George W. and Mary M. (Coleman) Smith. Her husband, John G. Ughetto, whom she married on Feb. 23, 1951, survives.
Also surviving are three children, Mrs. David (Carol) Dziabo, Enola, John M. Ughetto, Lewistown, and Cindy V. Arain of Virginia Beach, VA; a close family friend, Barbara Druckenmiller, Lewistown; two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Grace) Elsesser, Williamsport, and Mrs. Robert (Janet) Sulouff, Orlando, FL; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Jayne Galena.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the U.S. Marines during World War II.
She was a 1941 graduate of Lewistown High School.
She was a member of GraCe United Methodist Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher and a member of Fideles Sunday School Class and United Methodist Women.
She was also a member of the Twentieth Century Club and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
She was a former member of Lewistown Women's Bowling Association and the West End Girls Softball Team, playing in Madison Square Gardens as pitcher and third baseman.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church, 101 Logan St., Lewistown, with Rev. Charles "Chuck" Sprenkle officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. Monday in Juniata Memorial Park, with graveside military rites conducted by VFW Post 7011.
There will be no public viewing, however family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
