LEWISTOWN - Roma G. Wills, 87, of 71 N. Pine St., Lewistown, died at 12:43 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at Lewistown Hospital. Born Feb. 10, 1914, in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Merle Alfred and Irma Ella (Tilson) Sackett. Her husband, Lawrence Kerns Wills, died Nov. 24, 1995. She was the last of her immediate family. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers. She was employed by Montgomery Ward for some 25 years in Altoona and Lewistown. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. There is no viewing. Services will be private. HAVELOCK, NC - Baby John "Little John" Wilson V, 3 1/2 months, of Havelock, NC died Sept. 22, 2002. He is survived by his parents, Rose Marie Wolf and John "L.J." Wilson IV, Havelock, NC; grandparents, Mike and Amy Wolf, Port Royal, John Wilson III, Burlington, NC, and Terri Wolf and Vickie Brown, Havelock, NC; and great-grandparents, Jerry and Judy Starr of Winterville, Ohio, Thelma Mumaw and Elma Mumaw of Mingo Junction, Ohio, and Alex Sabo of Wellsburg, WV. Services will be held at noon Saturday at Bible Believers Full Gospel Fellowship, Havelock, NC. Interment will be in Forrest Oaks Memorial Park.

George W. Wilson Sr.
George W. Wilson, Sr., 83 of Mifflintown RR4, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at Lewistown Hospital. Born Sept. 19, 1919, in Port Royal, he was a son of the late Foster and Minerva (Page) Wilson. His wife, Dottie Barger Wilson, whom he married April 15, 1959 survives. Also surviving are: two sons, George W. Wilson and his wife, Susan, Voorhees, NJ, Walter "Dewey" Wilson and his wife, Kelly, Elizabethtown; one sister, Cecilia McGirk, Altoona; and 5 grandchildren, Amanda, Kaitlyn, David, Kelsey, and Emma. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lane Wilson, and a sister, Eleanor Lauver. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a sergeant in the United States Army. He retired after 20 years as an engineer with the District of Columbia Department of Corrections and then worked for Juniata Lumber and Supply, Mifflin. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Mexico and enjoyed woodworking. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Pastor Barbara Inch officiating. Interment will be in the New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal. There will be a viewing 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Kenneth P. Wilson Sr.
MCCLURE - Kenneth P. Wilson Sr., 70, of 3731 Back Maitland Rd., McCLure, died at 12:15 a.m. Sunday, May 5, 2002, at Lewistown Hospital. Born July 5, 1931, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Earl Wilson Sr. and Rena B. (Walk) Wilson. His wife, Gloria M. (Walter) Wilson, whom he married on Sept. 30, 1950, survives. Also surviving are: children, Kenneth P. Wilson Jr., Lewistown, Mrs. James (Beth) Moyer, Yeagertown, and Mrs. Scott (Gail) Podolsky, York; brothers and sister, Earl G. Wilson Jr., FL, Lois Walter, SC, Marlin Wilson, Lewistown, John Wilson, Lewis-town, and Robert Wilson, Mc-Clure; three grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. He was in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War. He was a truck driver for Stanley Homes Products for 27 years, later becoming a self employed truck driver. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Lewis-town. Merle T. Wilson
JEFFERSON HILLS - Merle T. Wilson, 72, of 6410 Jefferson Pointe Circle, Jefferson Hills, formerly of Reedsville, died at 8:43 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at Jefferson Regional Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born June 10, 1930, in Reedsville, he was the son of the late Samuel Jacob and Mary M. (Koch) Wilson. His wife, Iva J. (Rickabaugh) Wilson, survives. Also surviving are: daughters, Mrs. Jeffrey Denise Musial, and Mrs. Karl Patricia Rothey, both of Pleasant Hills; a sister, Dorothy Knepp, Belleville; and four grandchildren, Torie, Allison, Matt and Derek. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served from 1951-1953. He retired from Sperry New Holland in 1990 as a material handler. He was a member of the Reedsville Evangelical Lutheran Church, and attended the Pleasant Hills Presbyterian Church. He bowled in the New Holland League and was an avid bowler. THOMPSONTOWN - Paul A. Wilson, 82, of RR 2 Thompsontown and formerly of Yardley, passed away at 1:50 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2002 at Lewistown Hospital. Born Dec. 25, 1919, in Burnham, he was the son of the late William and Clara (Fultz) Wilson. His wife, Margaret (Rhodes) Wilson, whom he married in 1940, survives. Also surviving are: three sons, Kent Wilson and his wife Joan of Doylestown, Roger Wilson and his wife Helena of Yardley, Vincent Wilson and his wife Becky of Newtown; three brothers, Bill Wilson of Firless Hills, Dick and Jerry Wilson of Yeagertown; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Wilson, and a sister, Erma Lucas. He owned and operated a garage in Morrisville for 25 years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and Penn Morris Masonic Lodge #778 F&AM, Woodside. Mary Susan "Sue" Wingate
MCVEYTOWN - Mary Susan "Sue" Wingate, 58, of McVeytown and formerly of Miami Springs, FL, died at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, in the Hershey Medical Center. Born Dec. 16, 1943, in Minneapolis, MN, she was a daughter of the late Alphonse L. and Iva M. (Snyder) Petron. Her husband, George R. Harshbarger, survives. Also surviving are four sisters, Betty Skelly, Jackie Larson, Connie Hansen and Nancy McKay, all of Minneapolis, MN; and many other relatives and friends. She retired from Florida Power and Light in Miami, where she worked as an executive secretary for 27 years. MILROY - Charles R. Winn, 54, of Second St., Milroy, died Saturday Dec. 28, 2002 in Lewistown Hospital ER. Born May 12, 1948, in Lewistown, he was a son of Elizabeth R. (Rhodes) Winn, Valley View Haven, Belleville and the late Charles T.Winn. His companion, Michele "Jeannie" Bailor of Milroy, survives. Also surviving are: a brother, Frank Winn, West Virginia; two sisters, Mrs. Randall (Winifred) Snyder, Strodes Mills, and Mrs. William (Linda) Snook, Reedsville. He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen. He worked 29 years at Lewistown Specialty Yarns and five years in maintenance at Standard Steel. LEWISTOWN - Dorothy M. Wise, 70, of 811 E. Walnut St., Lewistown, died at 5:41 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at Lewistown Hospital. Born Aug.11, 1931, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Irvin and Lela (Weaver) Hunt. Her husband, James C. Wise Sr., whom she married July 31, 1948, survives. Also surviving are: children, James C. Wise Jr., 811 E. Walnut St., Lewistown, Nancy L. Wise, 58 Snook Rd., McClure, Timothy L. Wise, 3238 US Highway 522 N., Lewistown, Jeffrey L. Wise, Mifflinburg, and Sheila D. Wise, 5 Rosemont Ave., Lewistown; a brother, Melvin Hunt, Reseda, CA; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael Scott Wise and a son, Steven Douglas Wise. She was a 1949 graduate of Burnham High School. Early in life, she was employed as a Nurses Aide and then an LPN at F.W. Black Hospital, and was last employed at Fisher-Sanyo. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. LEWISTOWN - Fay E. Wisehaupt, 96, a resident of the Malta Home for the Aging, formerly of West Fifth Street, Lewistown, died at 5:20 a.m.Wednesday May 15, 2002, at the nursing home. Born Dec. 4, 1905, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Samuel E. and Essie (Baker) Schucht. Her husband, Martin L. Wisehaupt, preceded her in death on May 9, 1991. Surviving are: a daughter, Dorothy Jean Collison, Reeds-ville; three grandchildren, Fredrick M., Gary L. and Ellen S.; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Monroe, Robert and Lewis Schucht. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Altar Guild, Ein FesteBerg Class and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 283. Stephen Hanawalt Wismer
DALTON - Stephen Hanawalt Wismer, 56, of 469 Main Street, Dalton, died Thursday Sept. 19 in the evening at Berkshire Medical Center, Pittsfield, MA. Born July 22, 1946, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Amos H. and Margery Y. (Hanawalt) Wismer, he was a graduate of Lewistown High School. Mr. Wismer leaves his wife,the former Susan M. Anderson, whom he married in Reedsville on Aug. 19, 1963. He is survived by three sons, S. Douglas Wismer, Salt Lake City, Utah, Jeffrey W. Wismer, Aurora, CO, and Andrew H. Wismer, Dalton, MA; two brothers, Thomas Wismer, Lewistown and Robert Wismer, Moline, IL; a sister, Margery Stull, Greenville; and one granddaughter. In 1964, he graduated earned a bachelor of science degree with distinction and departmental honors from the Pennsylvania State University, and in 1970 he earned a master of business administration from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. From 1970 to 1992, Mr. Wismer was employed by Crane & Co., Inc., serving as Executive Vice President, Treasurer, and Director. From 1993 to 1997, he was employed by Gowdy, Inc., serving as president. From 1992 until earlier this year, he was Managing Principal of Tastical Management Associates, Inc. Active in Dalton community affairs, Mr. Wismer was Chairman of the Master Planning Steering Committee, President of the Dalton Community Recreation Association, President of the Dalton Community Chest, Treasurer and Trustee of the W. Murray Crane Community House, as well as serving on the Town's finance, personnel, Town Manager Search, and Memorial Day committees. He also served as a Corporator and Fund Drive Steering Committee of the Pittsfield Boys and Girls Club, he was also a board member of Berkshire Health Care System, having served as chairman from 1993 to 1996. Trustee of Berkshire County Day School, and chairperson of the Capital Building Fund Drive of Berkshire Red Cross and Berkshire Center for Families and Children, as well as a member of its Board, a Trustee of the Coolidge Hill Foundation, Director of Berkshire United Way and Chairman of its Venture Capital Committee, and Director of Associated Industries of Massachusetts. He was also a member of the First Congregational Church of Dalton. Stephen H. Wismer of Dalton died Sept. 19, 2002. He also leaves his granddaughter, Alexis Miranda Wismer and his two daughters-in-law, Dr. Kathy O'Mara Wismer and Trisha Mochko. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Congregational Church, Dalton with the Rev. Robert Kyte officiating. LEWISTOWN - Raymond L. Wolfgang, 89, a resident of Ohesson Manor Nursing Home, formerly of 108 Shaw Ave., Lewistown, died at 2:10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at the nursing home. Born Aug. 8, 1913, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Lloyd I. and Mary Edith (Zook) Wolfgang. His wife, Glenda (Hummel) Wolfgang, preceded him in death Jan. 10, 2001. Surviving are: two children, Barbara D. McKinley, 12 First St., Lewistown, and Karl F. Wolfgang, Seoul, Korea; a sister, Florence E. Hartley, 26 Terrace Blvd., Lewistown; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Russell I. Wolfgang. He was employed at American Viscose Corp., and a Division of FMC for 29 years, retiring in 1972. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, a 25 year Club United Methodist Member and the Chaplain for Pensioneers. LEWISTOWN - Bertha J. Woodling, 89, of 708 Harvard St., Lewistown, died at 12:41 a.m. Sunday, March 17, 2002, in the Lewistown Hospital Emergency Room. Born Feb. 12, 1913, in Burnham, she was a daughter of the late James S. and Bertha M. (Druckenmiller) Rhodes. Surviving are: children, Larry E. and wife Sondra Woodling, 110 N. 5th St., Mifflintown, Mrs. Wilson (Barbara J.) Swisher, 708 Harvard St., Lewistown, and Mrs. Leroy (Sally A.) Peachey, 701 Princeton St., Lewistown; a life-long friend, Connie J. (Wert) Shreffler, 685 Dry Valley Rd., Lewistown; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by two brothers, Edward J. and Clarence E. Rhodes, two sisters, Dorothy C. Rhodes and Beatrice A. Bulick, and a son, James W. Woodling. Early in life she worked for the American Viscose Corp. and later took graet pride as a custodian of her church for 40 years. She was a member of Pleasant Acres Assembly of God Church and taught Sunday School for 60 years and organized many child evangelism clubs. Born Nov. 29, 1919, in Bratton Township, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Dora (Heister) Kauffman. Her husband, Brice Woods died in 1969. Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. James (Cindy) Long, Alfarata, and Mrs. Roy (Karen) Farlamen, Lewistown; a step-son, Charles Woods, Milroy; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a four brothers and four sisters. She was a cook at Ohesson Manor Nursing Home. She was a member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church, Lewistown. MIFFLIN - Florine E. Woodward, 60, of Mifflintown RR3, died at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born Aug. 21, 1941, in Derry Township, Mifflin County, she was the daughter of the late Emanuel E. and Marie Grace (Seiber) Frontz. Her husband, Nelson H. Woodward, whom she married on April 13, 1962, survives. Also surviving is a son, Gary L. Woodward, Mifflintown RR3. She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by a brother, Robert Frontz and a sister, Jean McKarchey. She was a homemaker. MIFFLIN - Nelson H. Woodward, 61, of RR#3, Mifflintown, died at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at his home. Born April 3, 1941, in Derry Township Mifflin County, he was the son of the late Harvard S. and Freda J. (Campbell) Woodward. His wife, Florine E. Woodward, whom he married April 13, 1962, died on Jan. 11, 2002. Surviving are: a son, Gary L Woodward, RR #3, Mifflintown; and a brother, Roy H. Woodward, Thompsontown. He retired on disability as a truck driver for T.C. Daubert Trucking, Yeagertown, and he was the owner and operator of the Juniata Fur Shed, RR#3, Mifflintown. He was a lifetime member of the National Trappers Association and the Pennsylvania Trappers Association. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and trapping. Born Aug. 1, 1945, in McCoysville, Juniata County, he was the son of the late Howard S. and Freda J. (Campbell) Woodward. His wife, Florence I. (Willi) Woodward, whom he married Dec. 21, 1999, survives. Also surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. John R. (Rebecca A.) Wilson Jr., RR1, Mifflintown, Ellen J. Colpetzer, Halifax; a son, Samuel D. Woodward, RR1, Mifflintown; three step-sons, Roger Rumberger, Thompsontown, Cristopher Hile and Jonathan Hile, both of RD, Mt. Pleasant Mills; a half-sister, Donna Hiltebeitel, Lancaster; a nephew, Gary L. Woodward, RR3, Mifflintown; one grandson, Trenton T. Colpetzer and two step-grandchildren, Derek and Kortney Hile. He was preceded in death by a brother, Nelson H. Woodward, who died April 10, 2002. He was employed for 30 years as a truck driver for T. C. Daubert Milk Hauling, Yeagertown. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, woodworking and gardening. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Mifflintown Chapel of the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown with the Rev. Ronald L. Shupe officiating. Interment will be in the Union Memorial Gardens, RR4, Mifflintown. A viewing will be from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Blain H. Workinger Sr.
BURNHAM - Blain H. Workinger Sr., 80, of 214 Sixth Ave., Burnham, died at 12:10 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2002, at Lewistown Hospital. Born Nov. 16, 1921, in Milroy, he was the son of the late Charles and Carrie (Phillips) Workinger. His wife, Dorothy (Rhodes) Workinger, whom he married Dec. 22, 1946, survives. Also surviving are: children, Mrs. Barry (Connie) Hanawalt, McVeytown, Blaine H. Workinger Jr., Bellefonte and Mrs. Jeffrey (Dixie) Goss, McClure; three sisters, Joyce Wolfe and Mrs. Paul (Naomi) Boliek, both of Centre Hall, and Emma W. Denillo, Pittsburgh; a brother, Jay Workinger, Pittsburgh; and four grandchildren, Charles and Daniel Hanawalt, Tiffany and Preston Goss. He was also preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. He was employed at FMC Corporation for 25 years in the Viscose Department and Hanover Foods Corporation, Centre Hall as a production employee for 14 years, retiring in 1986. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II, European Theatre. A P.O.W., he was captured in France and held in Germany for five months. He was a member of Burnham Presbyterian Church and VFW Post in Old Fort. His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home. Graveside military services will be by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown. Interment will be in Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville. Friends will be received 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Margaret Dale Wray
DALTON - Margaret Dale Wray, 60, of Camp Hill, passed away on Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, as the results of a 15-year struggle with breast cancer. Born Jan. 13, 1942 in New York City, she moved to Dalton at the age of 9 following the death of her mother. Surviving are: her husband, Bill; two daughters, Sarah and Adrienne; two grandchildren, Maryam and Adam. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Eleanor and Joan, and a brother, Henry. She graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Psychology and later completed the teacher intern program at Wilson College. She took great pleasure in her children and grandchildren and the company of her family and friends. She loved to dine, dance, travel and play social bridge with her husband and her friends. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Unitarian Church of Harrisburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory can be made for breast cancer research through the American Cancer Society, for education to the Oliver LaGrone Scholarship Fund at the Unitarian Church of Harrisburg or to the Unitarian Church of Harrisburg.

Richard E. 'Buck' Wright
MCCLURE - Richard E. "Buck" Wright, 78, of RR2 McClure, passed away at 11 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2002, at his home following a brief illness. Born Nov. 27, 1923, in Decatur Township, Mifflin County, he was a son of the late Walter and Ester (Snyder) Wright. Surviving is his wife, Sarah K. Folk, whom he married on Aug. 10, 1945. Also surviving are: four sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth E. and Delores Wright, Carmon R. and Nancy Wright, and Dale L. and Teresa Wright, all of McClure, and Ronald E. and Rebecca Wright of York Springs; one daughter and son -in-law, Donna K. and Dennis Starliper of Shippensburg; 22 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Floyd and Harold Wright, and sisters, Lydia and Annie Wright. Mr. Wright attended McClure High School. He is a U.S. Army veteran, serving 1944-1946. He owned and operated Wright's Lumber Company, McClure for over 30 years. He had also farmed and raised chickens, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Mount Bethel United Church of Christ, McClure, and earlier in life was active in Samuel's Church, RR3 McClure, serving on the church council and as a teacher. Mr. Wright was a member of the Christian Businessman's Association and Child Evangelism Fellowship of Snyder and Union counties. He delivered a church message at the Zendt Home, Richfield and had served as a West Beaver Township supervisor. He enjoyed his truck patch, especially his blueberries and raspberries. He was also a woodworker and enjoyed making desks and cedar chests for his grandchildren. Visitors may call 7-9 p.m. today at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, and 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Bethel United Church of Christ, McClure. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with the Rev. Donald L. Wise officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will be in Samuel's Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice: The Bridge, 26 W. Fourth St., Lewistown.
