HERNDON, VA - Betty G. (Koplovitz) Cohee of Herndon, VA, formerly of Lewistown, died on Monday, July 29, 2002. Her husband, Charles "Chuck" Cohee, preceded her in death. She was the loving mother of Marcie (Don) Grau and the late Mark Cohee, the sister of Gilda Simmons, and cousin of Alvin (Barbara) Reiner and Hilda Winters. MILROY - Mary H. Cogan, 76, of 38 Pine St., Milroy, died at 10:20 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2002, at her son's residence, 43 Cindy Drive, Milroy. Born Dec. 26, 1925, in Spring Mills, she was a daughter of the late Edward J. and Mabel E. (Gentzel) Immel. Surviving are: children, Paul J. Cogan, and Mrs. John (Judy) Brittain, both of Milroy; brothers and sisters, James Immel, Spring Mills, Bud Immel, Woodward, Anna "Dolly" Long, Spring Mills, Mrs. Ronald (Doris) Rittenhouse, Altoona, Sara Griffin, Newton Hamilton, and Mrs. David (May) "Reannie" Rider, Spring Mills; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Edward W. Cogan, in 1976, and three brothers, David Immel, Edward "Bus" Immel, and an infant brother. She was a homemaker. LEWISTOWN - Sherri L. Coleman, 31, of 31 1/2 Valley St., Apt. 1, Lewistown, died at 3 a.m. Sunday, April 7, 2002, at her residence. Born Aug. 26, 1970, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of Michael E. Coleman of Williamsport and Nancy (Barner) Coleman of 208 Greenleaf Ave., Lewistown. She is survived by a daughter, Olivia J. Kunkel, Mexico, PA, and her maternal grandmother, Della Eberts, Lewistown. Early in life she was employed as a presser at Speedy Cleaners, Lewistown, and was last employed as a clerk at the Lewistown Hotel. Her funeral service will be held 8 p.m. today at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Danny R. Neff officiating. Vesta E. Coleman
BEAVERTOWN - Vesta E. Coleman, 94, of Beavertown, passed away at 6:11 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, at Evangelical Community Hospital, where she had been a patient since Monday. She had been in ill health for the past six months. Born May 31, 1908, in Wellsville, York Co., she was the daughter of the late Lyman and Ella (High) Myers. In 1928, she married the late Rudolph W. Coleman, who passed away Aug. 19, 1983. Surviving are: daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Carmon Aumiller of Beavertown; sister, Louella Flowers of Chambersburg; three grandchildren, Dane and Dirck Aumiller and Deidre Hockenberry three great-grandchildren, Andy and Aaron Aumiller and Alexandra Hockenberry. Reared and educated in Harrisburg, she entered Shippensburg University and was an elementary graduate of that institution. After 40 years as an elementary teacher at the former Beavertown Elementary School, she retired in 1973 but continued as a substitute teacher for 13 additional years. She was an active member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Beavertown, where she taught Sunday School for 53 years. Her main community interests involved the Girl Scouts, as a troop leader, Beavertown Home and School Club as a Charter member and secretary of the Beavertown War Memorial Rose Garden since it's inception. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at St. Paul's UCC Church, Beavertown, with the Rev. Jocelyn Livingstone officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. MECHANICSBURG - Rosemary Collanbine, 59, of Indian Peg Road, Mechanicsburg, died Monday, June 17, 2002, in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill. Born June 24, 1942, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Dollan Marker and Dorothy Blessing. Her husband, Dorn L. Collanbine, preceded her in death. Surviving are two sons, Mike Collanbine of Dillsburg and David Collanbine of Mechanicsburg; two daughters, Jodi Cassatt of Carlisle and Judi Bressler of Dillsburg; three brothers, George Blessing of Chambersburg and Tim Blessing and Joe Blessing, both of Landisburg; five sisters, Ruth Mittan of Ohio, April Trimble of Blain, Lula Morrison of Landisburg, Lily of West Virginia and Jen Fuller of Landisburg; a mother-in-law, Irene Collanbine of Port Royal; and a grandchild, Tiffany. Harriet Z. Collins
MCVEYTOWN - Harriet Z. Collins, 93, of McVeytown, died at 7:57 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at Lewistown Hospital. Born July 7, 1909, in Blair County, she was a daughter of the late William O. and Emma (Wakefield) Zeigler. Her husband, Frederick P. Collins preceded her in death on July 7, 1989. Surviving are: a son, William L. Collins and his wife, Irene, Church Hill, Reedsville; a granddaughter, Mrs. Brian (Renee I.) Kibe, Reedsville, a great-grandson, Tanner Kibe; and a great-granddaughter, Tara Kibe. She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. She retired in 1967 from Sears and Roebuck, Lewistown, with 25 years service. She was a member of the McVeytown Presbyterian Church where she had served as a trustee, president of the Women's Association, and church treasurer for many years. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the McVeytown Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jeanette Mater officiating. Interment will be in Mattawana Cemetery, McVeytown. LEWISTOWN - Iris June Combe, 76, a resident of Beverly Healthcare/William Penn, formerly of 422 Woodland Avenue, Lewistown, died at 11:20 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2002, at Lewistown Hospital. Born July 22, 1925, in Morrisdale, she was the daughter of the late Frances Combe. Surviving are: sisters, Mrs. Charles (Zelda) Watters, Akron, OH, Mrs. Clifford (Lorraine) Hoyt, Gahanna, OH.; a cousin, with whom she resided, Emma Fowler, 422 Woodland Ave., Lewistown; four nephews, two nieces and several grand nieces and nephews. She was a sales clerk for 20 years at G.C. Murphy Company, before retiring on May 4, 1971, due to disability. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was also a member of American Association of Retired Persons and National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare. She enjoyed reading and making latch and hook rugs. HARRISBURG - D. Jean Conaway, 70, of Susquehanna Township, Harrisburg, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, died Sunday at home. Born March 21, 1931 in Granville, she was a daughter of the late Robert L. and Thelma Gross Wagner. Her husband, Homer J. Conaway, survives. Also surviving are: a daughter, Kelly J. Zimmerman, Harrisburg, two sons, Ronald L. Conaway, Shermansdale, and Donald J. Conaway, Carlisle; a sister, Jeanette Baker, Lake Cjarles, LA; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was a graduate of Lewistown High School. She was a former employee of the former Lemoyne Ice and Cold Storage, Book of the Month Club and and Bell Telephone Co. Lawrence L. Condo
SPRING MILLS - Lawrence L. Condo, 75, of 272 Brush Mt. Rd., Spring Mills, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at Centre Community Hospital, State College. Born Jan. 3, 1927, in Spring Mills, he was a son of the late Lester R. and Margaret V. (Weaver) Condo. His wife, Margaret E. (Bonson) Condo, whom he married Nov. 26, 1947, survives. Also surviving are: three daughters, Donna K. Carper, Aaronsburg, Judith A. Homan, Centre Hall, and Laurie J. Condo, Puyullap, WA; two sisters, Florence M. Grove, Spring Mills, and Deloris Duddy, Chattaroy, WA; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Audrey Jane Condo, on Aug. 16, 1982, and two brothers. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Technician Fifth Grade, Co. A, 85th Signal Operations, where he received the Victory Medal, Occupational Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Medal. He retired after 40 1/2 years of service at Cerro Copper-Brass, Bellefonte. He was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church, Aaronsburg, and the Gregg Township Fire Co. He enjoyed woodworking with furniture, birdwatching and spending time with his family. His funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Salem Lutheran Church, Aaronsburg, with the Rev. Dorothy P. Confer
LEWISTOWN - Dorothy P. Confer, 86, of 37 King Drive, Lewistown, died at 6:53 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2002, in the Lewistown Hospital Emergency Room. Born May 27, 1916, in Snyder County, she was a daughter of the late Charles P. and Tressie M. (Hackenburg) Boreman. Her husband, William R. Confer, whom she married April 20, 1946, survives. Also surviving are: children, Mrs. George (Patricia) Shawver, McClure, and Phillip W. Confer, Allentown; sister and brothers, Alma Lauver, Charles Boreman, and Eugene Boreman, all of Lewistown; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Dale Shawver, three brothers, Erman, Clarence, and Earl Boreman, and a sister, Margaret White. Early in life she was employed at American Viscose Corporation, Lewistown, and later at Cluett/Peabody Shirt Factory as a production employee for 22 years before retiring in 1980. She was a member of St. Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church, Alfarata, and the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union. BONITA SPRINGS, FL - Frances C. Cooper, 68, of Bonita Springs, FL and formerly of Reedsville, died Saturday, May 11, 2002. She was the daughter of the late C. Ammon Houser and Bernice I. Martin-Houser of Reedsville. Her husband, Billy Kenny Cooper, preceded her in death on July 24, 2000. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Charles A. Houser of Milroy. She is survived by one sister, Judy K. Earnest, Milroy, and one brother, Edward L. Houser, Satellite Beach, FL. She retired from the State House of Representatives in Harrisburg. Her memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, at the Reedsville Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Longfield officiating. Margot Mae Cooper
MIFFLINTOWN - Margot Mae Cooper, 92, of Brookline Manor, formerly of Wagner Road, Mifflintown RR 2, died at 6:30 pm, Saturday, April 6, 2002 at the Manor. Born December 21, 1909 in Gratz, she was a daughter of the late Elias and Mary Elizabeth (Harner) Shade Her husband, William G. Cooper, Jr., preceded her in death on April 22, 1988. Surviving are: children, William G. Cooper, III, Warrington, Mrs. Albert (June) Gray, Mifflintown RR 2, and Mrs. Jim (Margot) Justice, Little Hocking, Ohio; 15 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Elsie Shade, a brother Allan Shade and a grandson, Albert Gray, Jr. She graduated from Temple University Nursing School in Philadelphia and worked as a registered nurse at Albert Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia, retiring after 30 years. She was a member of Cornerstone Community Church, Walker Grange, and helped prepare and deliver Juniata County Meals on Wheels for many years. She also served as treasurer of the Women's Christian Temperence Union. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Her funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cornerstone Community Church. Born in Huntingdon, she moved to St. Petersburg 19 years ago from Wilkes Barre. Surviving are: two daughters, Shirley Johnson, St. Petersburg, FL, and Audrey Schwalm, Hegins; a sister, Lois Lehnert, St. Petersburg, FL; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. PORT ROYAL - Donald A. Copenhaver, 87, of RR2 Port Royal, died at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, at his home. Born Oct. 5, 1915, in Fermanagh Township, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Ralph A. and Edith A. (Warner) Koppenhaver. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bernice M. (Houtz) Copenhaver in 1969. His second wife, Miriam E. (White) Copenhaver, whom he married Dec. 13, 1975, survives. Also surviving are: two sons, Jay A. Copenhaver, RR3 Mifflintown, and Steven R. Copenhaver, Denver, CO; four step-sons, Thomas and Samuel White, both of Granville, Robert E. White, Reedsville and Dennis White, Milroy; two step-daughters, Stella Mae Hackett, Picture Rocks, and Mrs. David (Jane) Aumiller, Milroy; a brother, Samuel A. Koppenhaver, RR1 Mifflintown; three grandchildren, 15 step-grandchildren, and 21 step-great grandchildren. He retired as a supervisor from Mexico Forge, Milroy and he was a self-employed welder. He was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church, RR3 Mifflintown, the Juniata Co. Sportsman Club and the Milford Grange. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid baseball fan. His funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from the Mifflintown Chapel of Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., with Rev. Willis Swope officiating. CARLISLE - Kathryn Emma Copenhaver, 87, of 700 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle, died on Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at Forest Park Health Center, Carlisle. Born Oct. 21, 1914, in Phillipsburg, she was the daughter of the late Otto Rudolph and Catherine (DuBree) Hoffman. Surviving are three daughters, Judy Williams, wife of Pastor H. James Williams of Landisburg, Suzanne Copenhaver of New Oxford, and Barbara Alexander of New Oxford; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Walter Hoffman of Shippensburg. She was a housewife. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery, Loysville. Cremation Society of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, is handling the arrangements.

Evelyn M. Corson
YEAGERTOWN - Evelyn M. Corson, 85, of 371 Ewardtown Road, Yeagertown, died at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at Centre Community Hospital. Born Oct. 24, 1916, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Homer W. and Nettie L. (Spigelmyer) Barger. Her husband, Harry W. Corson, preceded her in death July 3, 1983. Surviving are: four children, Mrs. F. David (Sandra) Searer, and Mrs. Ronald (Alice) Shepherd, both of Burnham, Mrs. David (Joyce) Miller, Yeagertown, and Harry W. Corson Jr., Milroy; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Betty) Krick, Lewistown; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and nine sisters. She was employed at Scotty's Fashions, retiring in 1982. She was a member of Yeagertown United Methodist Church and Yeagertown Fire Company Auxiliary and Pensioneer's Club. George A. 'Bud' Corson
LEWISTOWN - George A. "Bud" Corson, 85, of 1951 Valley View Ave., Lewistown, died at 5:50 a.m. Wednesday Sept. 18, 2002, at Lewistown Hospital. Born June 19, 1917, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late John A. Corson and Ella (Gross) Corson Silks. His wife, Alberta (Deen) Corson, whom he married, Jan. 19, 1943, survives. Also surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Betty) Bay, 1917 Valley View Ave., Lewistown; two siblings, Dorothy Henry, Lewistown, Lanny Silks, RD Milroy; three grandchildren, Mrs. Scott (Laura) Brought, Mrs. Joseph (Carrie) Forshey, Rob Bay; five great-grandchildren, Eric and Nicholas Brought, Gregory, Deanna and Katie Forshey; two great-great grandchildren, Alexis and Bridget Forshey. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenny "Pete" Corson and a sister, Mary Kauffman. He graduated from Lewistown High School, Class of 1938 and from DeVry Institute, Chicago, IL. He served in the US Army during World War II in the 66th Panther Division in the European Theatre. He was a TV repairman for Zampelli TV, Lewistown. Later he was co-owner of Troutman and Corson Distributing, Lewistown, a restaurant distributing company and his last employment was as an appliance repairman for Lerch Furniture, Lewistown. He was a member of the Holy Communion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Yeagertown. He was a member of the U.S. Army Band in World War II, the Lewistown Masonic Lodge #203, he was also a former member of the Jaffa Shrine and Jaffa Shrine Band, Altoona, the Fort Granville Grange, the Lewistown Moose Lodge #143, he played in Big Band Sound, Mt. Union, he was a member of the Chorus of the Blue Juniata and he was a member of the Thursday Harmony Singing Group, Lewistown, and a member of the Harry Crimmel Orchestra for 30 years. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown with the Rev. Philip C. Tundel officiating. Interment will be in the Juniata Memorial Park. LEWISTOWN - Annabelle Coulter, 73, of 197 N. River Road, Lewistown, died at 12:35 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002, at Lewistown Hospital. Born Oct. 10, 1929, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Cline) Miller. Her husband, Harry Coulter, whom she married 1948, survives. Also surviving are: two children, Jerry Coulter, Yeagertown, and Mrs. James (Darlene) Bittle, Dillsburg; three siblings, Ruth Partner, Beavertown, Harry E. Miller, Glenwood, and Lillie Miller, Lewistown; and five grandchildren, Michelle Hall, Heather Coulter, Jerod Coulter, Matthew Bittle and Melissa Bittle. She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters. She worked for Arrow Shirt Factory and the Blind Foundation and Beaming department of FMC. Born Sept. 5, 1911, in Robertsdale, Huntingdon County, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Martha J. (Hooper) Lane. In 1927, she married the late Melvin M. Cowan, who passed away in 1988. Richard M. "Dick" Cramer, 78, of RR1, Box 125, Thompsontown, died at 4:10 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at his residence. His funeral service will be held 8 p.m. Friday from the George P. Beryl Eileen Cressman
WALDORF, MD - Beryl Eileen Cressman, 89, of Waldorf, MD and formerly of Washington, DC, died on Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at the Genisis Elder Care, La Plata, MD. Born July 4, 1912, in Newton Hamilton, she was the daughter of the late Homer William and Catherine Estella (Strauss) Watts. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Wilmoth, Waldorf, MD; a son, Martin Chemnitz Cressman Jr, Port Charlotte, FL; three granddaughters, Barbara Eileen Clark, Waldorf, MD, Nicole Ann Cressman, Blacksburg, VA and Tamara Lynn Cressman Sullivan, Fredericksburg, VA; and a grandson, Robert Martin Cressman, Memphis, TN. She was a business manager in real estate. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Comforter Church, Washington DC, with Rev. Craig Endicott, Rev. Franklin Senger and Rev. Beth Costlow officiating. Interment will be at 1 p.m in Newton Hamilton Memorial Cemetery, Newton Hamilton. A public viewing will not be held. George L. "Pete" Crimmel
PORT ROYAL - George L. "Pete" Crimmel, 83, of 425 Tuscarora Street, Port Royal, died Wednesday morning, July 3, 2002, at his home. Born Aug. 29, 1918, in Denholm, Juniata County, he was a son of the late William Thompson and Edna V. (Turbett) Crimmel. His wife, Frances E. (Kauffman) Crimmel, whom he married April 7, 1936, survives. Also surviving are: children, Mrs. Arden (Kay) Leach, Port Royal, and Jon L. Crimmel, Kents Hills, Maine; a sister, Mrs. Marion Beale, Port Royal; four grandchildren, a step-grandchild, nine great-grandchildren and a step-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Ray and Arthur Turbett Crimmel, and a sister, Leah Viola Hummel. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served in the European Theatre of operation and the Army of Occupation, also in Japan. He had worked for FMC Corp., Lewistown, from 1943-1972. He later worked for Empire Kosher Poultry Inc., Mifflintown, from 1974-1981 and also was a part-time driver for Leidy Chevrolet , Mifflintown, from 1981-1997. He was a member of the Port Royal United Methodist Church, Port Royal Lions Club, a life member of the V.F.W. Post #5863, Mifflintown, and a life member of the Friendship Fire Company, Port Royal. His funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, with Pastor Kenneth R. Kitzmiller officiating. Interment will be in New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal. LEWISTOWN - Rosella J. Crotty, 77, of 917 E. Walnut St. Ext., Lewistown, died at 11:05 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at her residence. Born June 21, 1924, in Nanty-Glo, she was a daughter of the late Charles H. and Pearl M. (Davis) Mann. Her husband, Frederick P. Crotty, died March 21, 2001. Surviving are: children, Frederick C. Crotty, Middletown, Mrs. Robert (Brenda) Harris, Dry Valley Road, Lewistown, and Edward A. Crotty, Dry Valley Road, Lewistown; sisters, Mrs. William (Rebecca) Patterson, St. Michael, Mrs. Herbert (Mona) Bailey, Columbia, Ohio, and Donna Risor, Lima, Ohio; a brother, Herbert Mann, E. Fleming Avenue, Lewistown; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. Early in life she was employed as a waitresss in various restaurants. She was last employed at Arrow Shirt Factory as a production employee. Eugene B. Crownover
BELLEVILLE - Eugene B. Crownover, 75, of 316 Trella Street, Belleville, died at 10:40 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at Valley View Haven. Born Nov. 18, 1926, in Belleville, he was a son of Kathryn P. (Mateer) Crownover of Valley View Haven and the late Floyd B. Crownover. His wife, Helen (Medwinski) Crownover, whom he married on April 3, 1948, survives at 316 Trella St. Also surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Bonita) Pressler, Reedsville; two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Laura "Sis") Yoder, Allensville, and Mrs. Richard (Betty Ruth) Bareuther, Enola; a brother, Roy Crownover and his wife Donna, Belleville; and two grandchildren, Jennifer Conaway, Columbia, and Kristan Stence, Kistler. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Crownover in 1959 and a brother, Glenn Crownover. He retired from New Holland in 1986 after 39 years, and he worked at Taylor's IGA, Belleville, for 10 years. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-46 and was a member of the Air National Guard. He was a member for 56 years of Stroup-Alexander VFW Post 5935, Belleville, a lifetime member of Belleville Fire Company for 56 years and he was one of the first members of the Big Valley Ambulance Club. He received the President's Award for Belleville Fire Company in 1996. He was a member of Allensville Presbyterian Church where he served as a Trustee, Church Treasurer and was in the choir. His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Allensville Presbyterian Church, Allensville with Rev. Geoffrey Huish and Rev. Samuel G. Strohm officiating. YORK - Margaret Sims Crownover, 88, of Springettsbury Township, York, died at 3:38 a.m. Monday Dec. 16, 2002 at Manor Care Kingston, York. Born Dec. 10, 1914, in Mill Creek, she was a daughter of the late Chester and Ruby (Speck) Sims. Her husband, D. Lockwood Crownover died in 1965. Surviving are: two children, Dyson "Dick" Crownover and wife Dolores, S. Williamsport, and Mrs. Robert (Susan) Hoffeins, York; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Harry, and Kenneth Sims, and two sisters, Pauline Beck and Lena Powell. She was a matron at the York Lutheran Home for 17 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, York, the York Springetts AARP Chapter 3400, St. Matthew's Half-Century Club, and Yorkshire Methodist 55 Plus. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Mark's Cemetery, Lewistown with Rev. Brian A. McClinton officiating. There will be no public viewing. Donna M. Cunningham
LEWISTOWN - Donna M. Cunningham, 69, of 29 Blue Juniata Dr., Lewistown, died at 11:40 p.m. Wednesday, Sept 25, 2002, at Geisinger Medical Center. Born July 7, 1933, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Irene D. (Graham) Groff and she was preceded in death by her step-father, Victor V. Groff. Her husband, James M. Cunningham, whom she married July 10, 1970, survives. Also surviving are: two children, Jeffrey G. Bubb, Charleston, WV and Michael Q. Bubb, 304 Spring St., Lewistown; a sister, Mrs. Donald (Carol) Groff, Fairbanks, AK; three step-siblings, Benjamin V. Groff, California, John Groff, Lancaster, and Faye Kreydatus, Lewistown; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother. Early in life she was a textile worker and later, until retirement, was a union organizer for I.L.G.W.U. She attended Fellowship Baptist Church and was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Alta E. Cupper
HUDSON, Ohio - Alta E. Cupper, 73, of Hudson, Ohio, and formerly of Lewistown, Pa., died on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at Akron (Ohio) City Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on October 17, 1928, in Lewistown and was a 1946 graduate of Lewistown High School. She married Ralph C. Cupper of Lewistown on Oct. 23, 1949, in St. John's Lutheran Church, Lewistown, and they lived on Electric Avenue until moving to the Pittsburgh area in 1957. Mrs. Cupper was a member of the First Congregational Church of Hudson. She enjoyed bridge, crafts, travel, family, friends, and life. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ralph C. Cupper of Hudson, a son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Shirley Cupper, of Harrisburg, Pa.; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Ralph Obert, of Hudson, Ohio; grandsons Scott Cupper, Ryan Cupper, Adam Obert, and Curtis Obert; and her brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Violet Guinivan of McAlisterville, Pa. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, neighbor, and friend, a truly caring person. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Orzechowski of Lewistown; by her mother and stepfather, Elizabeth and Ralph Guinivan of Lewistown; and by her sister, Esther Louder of Marysville, Pa. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at the First Congregational Church of Hudson, Ohio, with her pastor, the Rev. Sue Ann Schmidt, officiating.
