REEDSVILLE - Shirley May Earnest, 65, of 156 Wilson St., Reedsville, died at 1:48 a.m. Sunday May 5, 2002, at Lewistown Hospital Emergency Room.
Born May 27, 1936, in Reedsville, she was a daughter of the late Sidney Leroy and Bessie Edna (Dieffenbach) Warner. Her husband, Charles Leon Earnest, whom she married on June 4, 1958, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Leonard C. Earnest, Lewistown, Janet L. Earnest, Newport, Starr A. Henderson, Lewistown, Tyna M. Earnest, Lewistown; brother and sisters, Mrs. Braden (Myrtle) Shirk, Dundalk, MD, Mrs. Robert (Violet) Goss, Edgewater Avenue, Lewistown, Mrs. Walter (Gladys) Treweek, Reedsville, Mrs. William (Hazel) Bonson, Spring Mills, and Harold E. Warner, Baltimore, MD; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Katherine S. Gahagan and Mabel Freed, and brothers, Charles Warner and Carl Warner.
She was a member of Reedsville CMA Church.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, with the Rev. Dan J. Smith officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Rock Cemetery.

Audrey E. Eaton
LEWISTOWN - Audrey E. Eaton, 101, of William Penn Nursing Home, Lewistown, formerly of Electric Avenue, Lewistown, died at 5:55 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at the nursing home.
Born July 13, 1901, in Greenwood Furnace, she was a daughter of the late Samuel W. and Carrie Mae (Henry) Harshberger. Her husband, William Harvey Eaton, preceded her in death on Nov. 7, 1980.
Surviving are a daughter, Beatrice M. Aitkins of Milroy; one grandchild, four great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Harshberger, and a sister, Celia A. Nale.
She was a member of Church of God, Lewistown.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, with Rev. Bert Bowen officiating. Interment will be in Birch Hill Cemetery, Burnham.
A viewing will be held one hour before the time of service Monday at the funeral home.

Wilbur L. 'Jack' Edmiston
LEWISTOWN - Wilbur L. "Jack" Edmiston, 91, of Rehrersburg, formerly of Lewistown, died at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at his residence.
Born Sept. 6, 1911, in Maitland, Derry Township, he was a son of the late Lewis C. and C. Esther (Richard) Edmiston. His wife, Mary Jane (Walters) Edmiston, whom he married Oct. 26, 1946, survives.
Also surviving are: three children, Stephen L. Edmiston and wife, Sally, Lewistown, Mrs. David (Carol Ann) Stoudt, Rehrersburg, and Mrs. Carl (Sandra) Ross, Eastman, GA; two sisters, Mabel Edmiston, Ohesson Manor, and Mildred Hartley, RD3 Lewistown; six grandchildren, Daniel Stoudt, Denise Bubbermoyer, Joshua Edmiston, Kavita Edmiston, Aaron Edmiston, and Eugene Ross; and three great-grandchildren, Autumn Mims, Ari Edmiston, and Ayla Edmiston.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Norman, S. Richard and Joseph Edmiston and a sister, Lois Watt.
He was a maintenance man for 28 years at the U.S. Postal Service, Lewistown, retiring in 1975.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 1st Armored Division in North Africa and European Theatre. He received the Bronze Star with a "V" device and the Purple Heart and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the DAV Juniata Chapter 13.
He was a member of Maitland Church of the Brethren.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Maitland Church of the Brethren with Rev. Charles M. Eldredge officiating. Interment will be in Maitland Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the church.

CAMP SPRINGS, MD - Grace (Druckenmiller) Edmondson, 76, of Camp Springs, MD, formerly of Lewistown died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, at Southern MD Hospital, Clinton, MD.
Born June 30, 1926, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Lydia Druckenmiller. Her husband, Wayne William Edmondson preceded her in death Nov. 28, 1992.
Surviving are: two children, Wayne William Jr. and wife Laura, daughter Kimber, two grandchildren, Katie and Kristopher, all of Maryland. Also surviving are, two sisters, Catherine Leach, Solomons, MD and Gladys Druckenmiller, Lewistown.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur, Lewis, and Kenneth; two sisters, Margie Seby and Elsie Herget.
She was a 1944 Lewistown High School graduate and member of Trinity United Church of Christ.
Her funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lee Funeral Home, 6633 Old Alexander Ferry Road, Clinton, MD 20735. Interment will be in MD Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.
A viewing will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Clair T. Ehrenzeller
MCALISTERVILLE - Clair T. Ehrenzeller, 64, of RR1, McAlisterville, died Sunday morning, Nov. 24, 2002, in the Harrisburg Hospital.
Born Dec. 5, 1937, in Juniata County, he was a son of the late Roy and Jennie (Naylor) Ehrenzeller. His wife, the former Lorraine M. Graybill, whom he married on June 21, 1959, survives.
Also surviving are a son, Steven R. Ehrenzeller and his wife, Penny, of RR1, McAlisterville; a daughter, Crystal Miller and her husband, John, of Liverpool; two grandchildren, Clarissa J. and Dexter B.; a brother, Paul Ehrenzeller of Mechanicsburg; and a sister, Cora Nace of RR1, McAlisterville.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Earl.
He was a 1955 graduate of East Juniata High School.
He was the owner and operator of Maple Lawn Associates, a poultry farming operation, at RR1, McAlisterville.
He was a member of Brown's United Methodist Church, RR1, McAlisterville. He was a member of the board of directors of the Juniata Valley Bank and the Juniata Conservation District. He was also a member of the Penn Ag Industries.
He was an antique car collector and belonged to the Antique Auto Club of PA. He was an avid hunter. He enjoyed collecting antiques and spending time with his family and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Brown's United Methodist Church, RR1, McAlisterville, with Rev. Ronald Landis officiating. Burial will be made in Otterbein United Methodist Cemetery, East Salem.
Friends will be received 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make donations to Brown's United Methodist Church at RR1, McAlisterville.

Paul R. 'Pickle' Ehrisman
RICHFIELD - Paul R. "Pickle" Ehrisman, 80, of RR1 Richfield, Monroe Township, Juniata County, died at 3:40 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2002, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born March 28, 1922, on his farm in Juniata County, he was the son of the late Raymond J. and Lovina D. (Leister) Ehrisman. His wife, Jean Audrey (Knight) Ehrisman, whom he married March 1, 1946, preceded him in death on Dec. 29, 1989.
Surviving are: daughter and son-in-law, Carol J. and Gerald T. Showers of RR1, Mt. Pleasant Mills; five grandchildren, Tara R. and Jared M. Showers, Sean L., Scott M. and Shad S. Ehrisman; seven great-grandchildren, Levi S., Austin S., Cole S., Erin N., Josiah P. and Garrett P. Ehrisman, Jacob M. Showers; three generations of nieces and nephews; and a companion of 18 months, Evelyn G. Snyder.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Steven L. on Aug. 1, 1972 and Larry P. Ehrisman on Jan. 21, 1999; brother and sister, Banks Ehrisman and Laura Potter.
He was educated in the Juniata County rural schools.
He was engaged in farming his entire life; retiring in 1978.
He was a member of Brown's United Methodist Church, Rt. 35, Cocolamus, the Richfield Fire Company & Ambulance League, the Richfield Senior Citizens, and a former longtime member of the Pennsylvania Farmers Association.
He loved his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He read his bible faithfully every day. He enjoyed the outdoors, taking walks and hunting.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3 at Brown's United Methodist Church, Rt. 35, Cocolamus. Interment will be in Neimond's Cemetery, RR1 Richfield.
Family and friends will gather for the viewing from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the George P. Garman Funeral Home, Inc., Mt. Pleasant Mills.

LEWISTOWN - Loving and dedicated mother Cora W. Elder, 85, formerly of 106 Terrace Boulevard, Lewistown, died at 8 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2002, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born Jan. 20, 1917, in Oliver Township, Mifflin County, she was the daughter of the late William B. and Esther (Harshbarger) Wertz. Her husband, Irvin Elder, preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 1999.
Surviving are five children, Mrs. Barrie (Judy) Persing of South Main Street, Lewistown, Linda Reese of Terrace Boulevard, Lewistown, Mrs. Neil (Victoria) Spigelmyer of Reedsville, Mrs. R. Dennis (Sandra) Noble of Terrace Boulevard, Lewistown and Irvin B. Elder of Strodes Mills; five siblings, Ruth Sunderland of Newton Hamilton, Roy Wertz of McVeytown RD1, Mrs. Clarence (Betty) Cramer of Three Springs, Harold Wertz of Glen's Ferry, ID and Lloyd Wertz of McVeytown, RD1; ten grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers.
She worked for American Viscose Corp., retiring in 1969 with 31 1/2 years of experience.
She attended First Church of the Brethren, Lewistown.
She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of Loyal Order of Moose and Avisco 25 Year Club and was a life member of Textile Workers Union.

Born Nov. 28, 1933, in Burnham, he was a son of the late William B. and Annette (Riden) Elder. His wife, Suzanne (McGrath) Elder, whom he married April 10, 1971, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Curtis D. Elder, Kansas City, KS, and Colby L. Elder, Shaw Avenue, Lewistown; two brothers, W. Kenneth Elder, Altoona, and Gerald Elder, Lewistown, a sister, Janice Rittner, Harrisburg; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, J. Robert Elder.
He was a tool and die maker and the owner and operator of Comco for 25 years.
He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Lewistown, and St. Mark's Episcopal Church Choir, Burnham Lions Club, Burnham Pool Association, Lewistown Elks Club, and the Mifflin County School Board for 12 years.
His funeral service will be held 12:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 21 South Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Delores M. Calhoun and the Rev. Ronald J. Lynch officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Rock Cemetery, Lewistown.

TEMPLE, TX - Sarah Ruth Elder, 94, of Temple, TX, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, in a Temple hospital.
Born in Snow Shoe, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late James William and Mary Edith (Beightol) McCloskey. Her husband of 67 years, William Robert Elder, whom she married Sept. 4, 1934, in Lewistown, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Mrs. William (Doris Ruth) Gilliland of Kingsland, TX, and William Robert Elder II of Omaha, NE; four granddaughters, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews who live in the Mifflin County area.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen L. (McCloskey) Reeder in November 1967, and a brother, Lawrence (Mike) McCloskey in August 1961.

LEWISTOWN - Naomi C. "Bobbi" Elliott, 76, of Lewistown, died at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2002, at Valley View Haven, Belleville.
Born Feb. 18, 1926, in Mt. Union, she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Margaret (Crist) Reck.
Surviving are: children, James H. Aumiller, New London, and Mrs. Ronald (Karen L.) Lightner, Belleville; three sisters and a brother, Mrs. Eleanor Grace, Secane, Mrs. Edna Hallman, Cherryville, NC, Mrs. Ethel Edgin, Germany Valley, and Danny Reck, Mt. Union; four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and an infant daughter, Carol Ann.
She was employed at Lewistown Hospital for nine years, before retiring in 1983. She also owned and operated B&E Restaurant.
She was a member of Key of Life Church of God and the Junction Fire Company.
A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at Juniata Memorial Park Cemetery, with Minister Larry Rhodes officiating.

Born Dec. 23, 1921, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Frances (Henry) Shoemaker. Her husband, John L. Elmer Sr., preceded her in death in 1988.
Surviving are: two daughters, Vicki L. Elmer of 105 Highbridge Circle, Lewistown, Connie Fetterolf of Madera; and a brother and sister, Wilbur Shoemaker of Port Royal, Marcella I. Harpster of Lewistown.
She was preceded in death by a son, John L. Elmer Jr. and two brothers.
She was a housewife.

Born on Feb. 28, 1910, in Newton, MA, he was the son of the late Howard and Ada (Maxwell) Emerson. He was the husband of Carolyn R. (Glendye) Emerson, whom he married in 1939.
He was the manager of government and international sales for Birds and Sons, Inc., East Walpole, MA.
He was a member of the Yale Man Class of 1932, Yale Alumni Association of Hartford, CT and the Yale Club of Boston, MA.
He was a past member of the Hershey Country Club, the Hartford Golf Club, Laconia Country Club, NH, Wellesley Congregational Church, Wellesley, MA, Lewistown Country Club and the Mayflower Society.
Surviving is a son, Richard Emerson Jr. of Kansas.
He was preceded in death by a son, Stephen M. Emerson, on Sept. 21, 1992, as well a brother and a sister.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. William J. Danis officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Rock Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. Thursday until the time of service.

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - Mary Chris "Dietrick" English, 62, of 4026 N. 9th St., Phoenix, AZ, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, at the Hospice of the Valley, Scottsdale, AZ.
Born July 23, 1939, in Mifflintown, she was the daughter of the late Charles R. "Fancy" and Christine B. (Bossert) Dietrick.
Surviving are: two sisters, Margaret D. Bryner, Mifflintown, Ann D. Estep, Holidaysburg; two nephews, Charles E. Bryner, Mifflintown, Edward D. Estep Jr., Hollidaysburg, and a niece, Margaret C. Estep, Hollidaysburg.
She was a 1957 graduate of the Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Penn State University in 1961 and she received her Masters Degree from Arizona State University.
She had attended the Westminster United Presbyterian Church, Mifflintown.
She was currently employed as a guidance counselor for Bryman School, Phoenix, AZ.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Interment will be in the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.

LEWISTOWN - Marion S. Ernest, 84, of Outlook Pointe Commons, formerly of Woods Lane, Lewistown, died at 6:25 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2002, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born Aug. 22, 1917, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Mary R. (Sides) Sheaffer. Her husband, Paul R. Ernest, to whom she was married to for 53 years, preceded her in death on Jan. 31, 1992.
Surviving are: children, Mrs. Lee (Pauline) Stoner, Lewistown, and Mrs. George (Marsha) Ames, McClure; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by a sister Evelyn Lauver, and a great-grandson.
She was an administrative secretary for the Mifflin County School District, before retiring in 1981 with 21 years of service.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lewistown for 65 years, Helping Hands Sunday School Class. She was a member of Pensioners, Golden Age Club, Evangelders, Senior Citizens. She served as a hospital volunteer. She was a former Girl Scout leader. She was a member of the National Federation of Bible Classes.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 North Main St., Lewistown, with Karen McCachren officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.

Kenneth O. Esh
PORT ROYAL - Kenneth O. Esh, 82, of 907 Main St., Port Royal, died at 11:10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at the Meda Nipple Convalescent Home, RR1, Thompsontown.
Born April 17, 1919, in Spruce Hill Township, Juniata County, he was the son of the late John K. and Irene (Okesson) Esh. His wife, Mabel E. (McCachren) Esh, whom he married April 7, 1945, survives.
Also surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Elizabeth E.) Book, Port Royal; a sister, Marjorie Esh, RR1, Port Royal; a grandson, Eric K. Book, and a granddaughter, Mrs. Jeremy (Rebecca) Freed.
He was a WW II U.S. Navy Air Force veteran, having served in the European and African Theaters.
He was a 1935 graduate of the Port Royal High School and a 1930 graduate of Severn Prep School, Maryland, and he had attended the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD.
He retired as a draftsman from Standard Steel, Burnham.
He was a member of the Port Royal United Methodist Church, Port Royal, Crawford-Brubakes VFW Post #5083, member and past commander of the American Legion Post #298, both of Mifflintown, past president of the Port Royal Borough Council, past president, secretary and treasurer of the Port Royal Lions Club, past secretary of the Port Royal Water Authority, past member of the Selective Service System Local Draft Board until it ended and was a member of the Juniata County Veteran's Council where he was a very, active member of the Military Burial Honors Detail.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, walking along and swimming in the ocean.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, from the Port Royal United Methodist Church, Port Royal, with the Pastor Kenneth R. Kitzmiller and the Rev. James Taylor officiating. Interment will be in the Old Church Hill Cemetery, RR2, Port Royal, where full military burial honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.
There will be no public viewing, however family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, at the Mifflintown Chapel of the Brown Funeral Homes Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.

Born Nov. 12, 1923, in Gettysburg, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Ruth (Batterman) Musselman. Her husband, Harry Lee Esh, whom she married Oct. 29, 1950, survives in Lindsborg, KS.
Also surviving are: two sons, John Esh, Lindsborg, KS, and Jerry Esh, Glendale, AZ; two brothers, Glenn Musselman, Goshen, IN, and Melvin Musselman, Gettysburg; two sisters, Martha Fehring, Goshen, IN, and Ruthanna Brooks, Kennett Square; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son Dennis Esh on Sept. 14, 1990, and three brothers and two sisters.
She was a school teacher for the Littleton School District, Phoenix, AZ, and a few years at Belleville Mennonite School.
She was a member of Trinity Mennonite Church, Glendale, AZ, and attended the Rockville Mennonite Church, Belleville, and the Evangelical Covenant Church, Lindsborg, KS.
She attended Elizabethtown College, Goshen College, and Arizona State University.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Rockville Mennonite Church, Belleville with Rev. Harold Sharp, Rev. Elam Glick and Gary French officiating. Interment will be in Allensville Mennonite Cemetery.
A viewing will be held at 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service Sunday.

HARRISBURG - Richard O. 'Rick' Espigh Sr., 69, of Harrisburg, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, at his home.
Born Dec. 23, 1932, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late William and Mabel (Casey) Espigh. His wife of over 40 years, Carol M. Espigh, survives.
Also surviving are a son, Richard O. Espigh Jr., Newport; a grandson, Richard O. Espigh III; two brothers, Robert L. Espigh, Lewistown, and Emil A. Espigh Sr., Highspire; and three sisters, Margaret DeArment, Agnes Espigh and Patricia Miller, all of Lewistown.
Before his retirement, he was a steel worker and crane operator for Bethlehem Steel for over 40 years.
He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Harrisburg, was and Army veteran of the Korean War, and enjoyed fishing with his grandson, Ricky.
Services will he held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Zimmerman Auer Funeral Home, 4100 Jonestown Road, Harrisburg, with Rev. Msgr. Robert E. Lawrence officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg.
A viewing will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday, where the rosary will be recited at 6:15 p.m., and 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Albert M. "Marty" Etzweiler
BURNHAM - Albert M. "Marty" Etzweiler, 41, of 104 Fourth Ave., Apt. 3, Burnham, died at 2 a.m. Sunday April 28, 2002, at his residence.
Born Aug. 1, 1960, in Lewistown, he was the son of D. Lucille (Wagner) Etzweiler of 129 Progress Ave., Reedsville, and the late Melvin C. "Pete" Etzweiler
Also surviving are: children, Jonathan Etzweiler, Amanda Etzweiler and Christopher Etzweiler, all of Clewiston, FL; two brothers, M. Wayne Etzweiler, Townsend, DE, and Randy L. Etzweiler, Lancaster; and two grandchildren.
He was a factory employee, New Castle, DE.
He was Protestant by faith.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Siglerville, with the Rev. Rosalie N. Smith officiating. Private interment will be at the Lind Memorial Cemetery, Lewistown.
There will be no public viewing.

Charles N. 'Newt' Eward
LEWISTOWN - Charles N. "Newt" Eward, 74, of 1355 Back Maitland Road, Lewistown, died at 9:19 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, at Holidaysburg Veteran's Home.
Born Jan. 7, 1928, in Yeagertown, he was a son of the late Frank and Charlotte (Wilson) Eward. His wife, Doris E. (Spigelmyer) Noll Eward, preceded him in death Oct. 24, 1995.
Surviving are: four children, Mrs. Charles (Rebecca) Maben, Frank N. and Ronald L. Eward, all of Lewistown, and David L. Noll, Memphis, TN; twelve siblings, Daisy Smith, Burnham, Ruth Kauffman, Burnham, Lucy Bishop, Lewistown, Betty Bishop, Yeagertown, Dorothy Marks, Yeagertown, Walter Eward, Yeagertown, Earl Eward, Lewistown, Martha Gregg, Burnham, Donald Eward, Burnham, Robert Eward, Lewistown, Mabel Fultz, Belleville, and Marie Kline, Yeagertown; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Early in life he worked for the Railroad and then BG Furniture, he later worked for American Viscose Corp. and retired from Avtex Fibers in 1990.
He was U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.
He was a life member of Junction Fire Company.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc., 108 First Ave., Burnham with Major Eddie Purvis officiating. Military services will be conducted by VFW Post 7011. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
