Harry E. Haugh
Harry E. Haugh, 68, Parker, died Tuesday morning, May 27, 2003 in Butler Memorial Hospital after an illness. Born Sept. 18, 1934, in Perry Township, Clarion County, he was the son of Harold Wade and Cora Mae Cooper Haugh. He was honorably discharged Aug. 20, 1957, from the U.S. Army. Mr. Haugh began a 36-year career in 1960 as a custodian in the former Parker High School. When the new elementary school was built in Parker, he was given the custodial position in that building. He retired in 1996 from the Allegheny- Clarion Valley School District. He was recognized in 1992 by the Parker City Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years of continuous service. He also served with the Fire Police in Parker City for decades until health prevented his participation. Mr. Haugh was a Protestant. He was married to the former Dora “Dode” Hottel, who survives. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Ray (June) Hovis of Belleview, Fla., and Mrs. Roy (Mary) Kriebel of Wheatland; two brothers, Harold “Bud” Haugh and wife, Sara, of Petersburg, Ohio, and William Haugh and wife, Freda, of Southgate, Mich.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Haugh was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Nancy Haugh and Cleta England; and two brothers, John Haugh and Leroy Haugh. Friends were received in the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, Wayne Street, Parker. Funeral services were held in the funeral home. Interment is in Parker Presbyterian Cemetery.

LaVon “Bonnie” Tonks
LaVon “Bonnie” Tonks, 92, formerly of Foxburg, died at 7:50 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2003, in Clarview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Sligo. Prior to moving to Clarview she had resided at Emlenton’s Laurel Manor for several years. Born Sept. 12, 1910, in Foxburg, she was the daughter of James Lee and Bessie Louella Ellenberger. She was a graduate of Parker High School. In her early years, Mrs. Tonks attended the Foxburg United Methodist Church. She was married in Clarion April 18, 1931, to James M. Tonks, who died April 5, 2003. Mrs. Tonks and her husband raised beagle show dogs. They also were employed in the pro shop at St. Jude Country Club in Chicora. She also worked in the high school cafeteria in the Karns City Area School District. Mrs. Tonks was a homemaker and enjoyed making afghans and cooking. She was a Protestant. Surviving is a sister-in-law, Vera Ellenberger of Troy, Pa. Mrs. Tonks was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Victor Ellenberger, who was killed during World War II, and a sister, Ruby Kuzniers. Private funeral services were officiated by the Rev. Edward S. Lowrey, vicar of the Memorial Church of Our Father, Episcopal, in Foxburg. Interment was at the Foxburg Cemetery. The Christopher M. Hile Funeral Home, St. Petersburg, was in charge of the arrangements.

John M. Kingsley
John M. Kingsley, 90, of Big Bend area of Emlenton, passed away at 9:25 am Thursday morning, June 12, 2003., at Trinity Living Center in Grove City, Pa. after an illness. Born in Scrubgrass Township, Venango Co., Pa. on July 15, 1912, he was the son of William W. and Clara Morrison Kingsley. Mr. Kingsley retired after thirty-five plus years of service as a fireman-boilerman with Quaker State Refining Company in Emlenton. He also owned and operated a farm in the Big Bend area most of his adult life. Mr. Kingsley was a member of the Big Bend Untied Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife: Grace Palm Kingsley whom he married on March 16, 1936; two daughters: Mrs. Robert (Bonnie) Crawford of Las Vegas, NV. and Mrs. Lou (Judy) Caldwell of Antioch, TN.; four sons: Gary Kingsley of Emlenton, James (Jim) of Oil City, Jeffrey of Clintonville, and Gregory of Volant; one sister; Eleanor McGlaughlin of Grove City, Pa.; 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandchild and four sisters. Friends were called at the H.Jack Buzard Funeral Home, Main St., Eau Claire. Funeral Services were held in the Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas Gomola, a family friend, officiating. Burial was in the Big Bend Cemetery.

Robert D. Montgomery
Robert D. Montgomery, 63, of Eau Claire, died Saturday, June 7, 2003 in the Veterans Administration Medical Center in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh after an extended illness. Born June 17, 1939, in Higgins Corners, Butler County, he was the son of Helen Dillamen Montgomery of Eau Claire and the late Joseph D. Montgomery. Mr. Montgomery served in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft mechanic at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana. He retired in 2000 as an assembler at Cooper-Cameron, formerly Cooper Energy, in Grove City. Mr. Montgomery was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Eau Claire. He also was a member of Parker City-Allegheny Valley Lodge No. 521, F&AM, and the New Castle Consistory. Surviving, in addtion to his mother, are his wife, Pearl A. Douglass Montgomery; one brother, William Montgomery of Eau Claire; two sisters, Gail Petrone of Pittsburgh and Mrs. John (Carol Joyce) Mayes of Kennerdell; and a number of nieces and nephews. Members of the Parker City-Allegheny Valley Lodge No. 521, F&AM held a memorial service for their departed brother in the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home. Friends were received in the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, Main Street, Eau Claire and in Bethel United Methodist Church in Eau Claire. Funeral services were held in the church with the Rev. Kathleen Soltis, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Eau Claire Cemetery.

Hazel Conley
Hazel Conley, 84, of Wildwood, Fla. passed away Thursday morning (6-5-03) at Butler Memorial Hospital following an illness. She was born Oct, 15,1918 in Esther, Missouri to Isaac and Meta Keel Garner. She was a member of Silver Lake Community Church in Wildwood. She was a frequent visitor to Butler to spend many visits with her stepdaughter, Judy Tinker who survives. Also surviving are an adopted daughter, four sons, one sister and one brother as well as nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. There was no visitation, and burial will be made at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were completed by H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, Eau Claire.

Edna Kelly
Edna Kelly, 89, of Eau Claire, Pa. passed away Monday morning (6-9-03) at 9:27 a.m. at United Community Hospital in Grove City after an illness. Born in Venango Township, Butler Co., Pa. on Aug. 26, 1913, she was the daughter of Theodore and Annabelle Storey Kelly. She had been a member of the Eau Claire United Presbyterian Church much of her adult life. There are no known surviving relatives. Burial was in the Eau Claire Cemetery. Arrangements were made by H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home in Eau. Claire.

Harry W. Anchors
Harry W. Anchors, 84, of Okeechobee, Florida. passed away on June 13, 2003. Born May 15, 1919 in Foxburg, he was the son of Henry J and Margaret Anchors. Mr. Anchors served in the army for 4 years as an engineer on the railroad. He retired from the B&O Railroad after 43 years of employment as an engineer. He is survived by his wife, Delores and 4 children, Howard, Vicki, Jeffery and Cindy, and one sister, Helen Hatch. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Warren, and two sisters, Elsie and Marie. A memorial service will be held later in Okeechobee.

Irene Lep1ey Koch Emery
Irene Lep1ey Koch Emery, 84, of Shreffler Road, Emlenton, Richland Township, Venango County, died at 6:10 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2003, in UPMC Northwest, Franklin. Born July 15, 1918, in Franklin, she was the daughter of Roy E. and Mabel Mae Mangel Lepley. She was a 1936 graduate of Emlenton High School. Mrs. Emery was a member of the Emlenton United Methodist Church, the Emlenton Civic Club and Daughters of the American Colonists. She also was a member and regent of Fort Venango Chapter DAR, and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Parker. She enjoyed researching family history, collecting salt and pepper shakers and the company of her dog, Ginger. She was first married on July 10, 1936, Dienard D. Koch, who died July 5, 1956. She then was married Sept. 25, 1957, to Ralph Emery Jr., who died Nov. 11, 1979. Surviving are three children and their spouses, Anna Mae and Russell Rinker of Franklin, Rose Marie and John Ritchey of Emlenton and Dienard “Bud” and Verna Koch of East Liverpool, Ohio; seven grandchildren; Randy Lemmon and wife Deb; Bonnie Gilbert, Kathy Kaufman and her husband, Bill; Kelly Trimble and her husband, Bob; Karen Levy, Shane Koch and his wife, Ronnie; and Shannon Koch; nine great grandchildren, Spencer and., Aaron Lemmon; Nicole Schrecengost, John Kaufman, Karly Kaufman, Maria Levy and Tabitha, Abigail and Michael Koch; two step-grandchildren, DiAnne Wessell and husband, Joe, and Daniel Rinker and wife, Sharyn; and two step-great-grandchildren, Rob Rinker and Mande Edwards. Friends called Thursday, June 26, 2003 in the Christopher M. Hile Funeral Home, Emlenton. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. Kenneth Duffee, pastor of the Emlenton United Methodist Church, officiating. Memorials may be made to the Emlenton Area Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 346, Emlenton, 16373.

Doris M. Delavern
Doris M. Delavern, 79, of Kennerdell, died June 22, 2003 at Grove Manor in Grove City after an extended illness. Having moved here from Erie, she has resided in Kennerdell since 1981. Born July 31, 1924 at Franklin. She was the daughter of Nellie Eakin Fellner. She was married October 14, 1941 to the late Roy W. Delavern who passed away June 14, 1983. She attended school in Clinton Township, Venango County. She was a devoted housewife and mother. She was a member of the Rankin Chapel Untied Methodist Church. She was a former member of the Scrubgrass Senior Center and Senior Center in Oil City. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, and her family and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and mother, two sisters, Mrs. Earl “Bernice” Riddle and Mrs. Vera Graham and one infant daughter, Virginia. Mrs. Delavern is survived by six children, Mrs. John “Connie M. Olszewski of California, Mrs. “Nancy L.” Matson of California, Mr. William R. Delavern of Erie and his wife Becky, Mr. James F. Delavern of Erie and wife Regina, Mr. David G. Delavern of Emlenton, Mrs. Timothy E. “Bonnie S.” Dye of Kennerdell. Two sisters survive; Mrs. James “Erma” Stubbs of Rockland and Pauline Warner of Cranberry, Pa. A memorial service was held on June 23, 2003 at the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, Clintonville, with the Rev. Anthony Catullo of the Union Presbyterian Church, Clintonville officiating. Internment was at Hickory Grove in Grove City. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

Bertha SALUSKY
Bertha SALUSKY, 91, of Emlenton, Pa., formerly of Pittsburgh, Pa. passed away at 2:42 PM Monday (07-14-03) afternoon at Sunnyview Home in Butler following a short illness. Born in Greenville, Pa. on June 12, 1912, she was the daughter of Vant and Rella Stitt Henderson. She was affiliated with Bethel United Methodist Church of Eau Claire. Mrs. Salusky was a graduate of the West Penn Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh where she became a registered nurse. She was employed by West Penn for twelve years Following graduation. She later became employed for many years as nurse in the office of Dr. Boda, MD, in Pittsburgh. She was a member and past worthy matron of Order of Eastern Star Chapter in Homestead Park in Pgh. Surviving are a daughter: Mrs. Louise Farren of Sun City, CA.; three sons: Dolphin Stalker of Eau Claire, Delmar Stalker of Sun City, CA, and Gaylord Stalker of Livingston, TX; thirteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Byron “Hank” Henderson of Eau Claire; two sisters, Doretha Kohls of Wheatland, Pa. and Ruth Robb of West Middlesex; along with numerous nieces and nephews is a special nephew Mike Salusky and wife Karen of Emlenton. Friends may call from 7-9 PM Wednesday at H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, Main St., Eau Claire. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday in funeral home. Interment in Jefferson Memorial Park in Pittsburgh, Pa.

GILBERT H. “GIBBY” SMITH
GILBERT H. “GIBBY” SMITH, 57, of Oneida Valley Road, Emlenton, Pa. passed away Sunday morning (07-13-03) at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa. following a lengthy illness. Born on Nov. 13, 1945 in Pittsburgh, Pa., he was the son of Harold and Ruth McLaughlin Smith. He was employed for over twenty years in the foundry department at USX in Braddock, Pa. He served with the United States Army from 1963 to 1965 in the infantry serving in Germany. Mr. Smith served as a council member and later as president of Cherry Valley Borough Council. He was a member of I.O.O.F. Lodge #278 of Butler. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as long as health permitted. Mr. Smith was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church at Murrinsville. Surviving are his wife: Lynn Kristy Smith; one daughter: Mrs. Russ (Melissa “Missy”) Stroup of Eau Claire; one son: Bert Smith at home; one sister: Naomi Gregory of Beaver Creek, Ohio. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7- 9 PM Tuesday at H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, Main St., Eau Claire. RAYMOND G. YUNK Sr.
RAYMOND G. YUNK Sr., 72, of Sandy Point Rd., Emlenton, Pa. passed away at 3:15 AM Saturday morning (07-12-03) at his residence of natural causes. Born in Pittsburgh, Pa. on Feb. 1, 1931, he was the son of Albert Lewis and Minnie Krepley Yunk. Mr. Yunk had been employed as a carpenter in the construction industry for a number of years. He later was employed as a pipe fitter at H. J. Heinz Co. of Pittsburgh He was employed as maintenance co-coordinator at Peaceful Valley Campground near North Washington, Pa. until ill health prevented his employment. He served in the United States Marine Corps from Jan. of 1951 through Jan. of 1954 being honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. He was an avid television viewer. Surviving are his wife: Olive Cook Yunk; two sons: Raymond G., Jr. and Curt Yunk, both of Pgh., Pa.; four daughters: Elaine Nichols of North Carolina, Earlene Faloney, Kimberly Winter, and Shelly Taylor, all of Pgh., Pa.; fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive. In addition to his parents, two sisters preceded him in death. There will be no public visitation. Interment will be private at convenience of farnily. H. Agnes A. Guiste
Agnes A. Guiste, 89 of 4282 State Route 208, Emlenton Pa resided there since 1960. Passed away Saturday, July 26, 2003 at 10:30 P.M. at the Laurel Manor Emlenton, Pa. after an extended illness. Born in Apollo, Pa., Armstrong County, April 19, 1914 the daughter of Charles R. and Retta McCullough Rearick. Married to John C. Guiste June 4, 1938 in ApoIlo, Pa. and he passed away on Sept. 19, 1972. Agnes last worked up at Polk Center, Polk, Pa. as a Clerk III until her retirement in 1979. She owned and operated the Dairy Wheel-Soft Ice Cream outside of Clintonville for a number of years along with her family helping. She had been a licensed real estate agent for a number of years with the Stroudt Reality Company in the Venango and Butler County area. She was a committeewoman for a number of years in Clinton Twp. She was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts in Clintonville and worked up at the 4-H in Franklin, Pa helping the children. She enjoyed China Painting-on small dishes. She was on the Victory Joint School board in Irwin Twp, Venango County. She was a devoted housewife and mother where she enjoyed gardening, flowers and her family. She was a member of the Union Presbyterian Church, Clintonville, Pa. of which she was an Elder of the church and one of the original “Over 50 Year” members. She belonged to the Baird- Simcox Missionary Society and the Fidelity Bible Class of the church. She was a member of the Order of Easter Star in Parker, Pa. She is survived by 5 sons: Mr. William A. and wife -Elizabeth A. “Betty” Guiste of Emlenton, Pa., Mr. Stanley E. Guiste of Kennerdell, Pa., Mr. Terry L. and wife M. Paulette Guiste of Mt. Pleasant Pa., Mr. John N. Guiste and Mr. Malcolm L. and wife Sandy J. Guiste of Emlenton. Pa. 11 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren and I Great-Great Grandchild survives. She was preceded by her parents, husband, and 4 brothers: Hugh, Roy, Gilbert and Vernon Rearick and one sister: Gwenda Adkinson. Family received friends at the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home 7-9 on Tuesday evening July 29, 2003 and from 10:00 A.M. until time of services at the church on Wednesday. Services were held at the Union Presbyterian Church’ 409 Emlenton Street, Clintonville, Pa. at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday-July 30, 2003 with the Rev. Anthony Catullo-pastor will officiate. An Eastern Star service was held at the funeral home on Wednesday evening at 9:00 P.M. Committal and interment services were held at the Clintonville Methodist Cemetery, Clintonville Boro, Pa. The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the Union Presbyterian Church, 409 Emlenton St. Clintonville, Pa. 16372.

Beatrice M. Crawford Wolfe
Beatrice M. Crawford Wolfe, 85, formerly of RD 1 Polk passed away on September 1, 2003 12:15 pm at Orchard Manor, Grove City. Mrs. Wolfe, daughter of Arnett and Hannah Hale Crawford, was born August 15, 1918 in Emlenton, PA. She was married in 1954 to Richard B. Wolfe, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Wolfe was a LPN for Polk State School. She was a member of the Baptist Temple of Franklin and the Minnie Rebecka’s club. Survived by her two sons; John C. Mayes of Kennerdell and Norman L. Mayes of Emlenton, PA, two daughters; Mrs. James C. (Mary E.) Moore of Stoneboro and Cindy Wolfe of Lancaster, Texas, three stepdaughters; Dixie Clark of Franklin, Wanda Semple of Grove City, and Joyce Fellner of Clintonville. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Richard B. Wolfe, one brother; David Crawford, one sister; Mary Livingston, and one step daughter; Mary Lou Fife. Family received friends at the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday, September 4, 2003. Funeral services were held on Friday, September 5, 2003 at the funeral home with Rev. David Foote of Baptist Temple of Franklin officiating. Interment was held at the Emlenton Cemetery.

Ruth M. Boyer
Ruth M. Boyer, 82, of the Clintonville Apartments since 1985 and being the last original resident, died September 14, 2003 at 7:30 am at the Caring Place, Franklin, Pa, after an extended illness. Born April 14, 1921 in Clinton Twp., she was the daughter of Thomas C. “Cooley” Cassedy and Melda M. Rankin Cassedy. She was married on April 2, 1938 to Virgil V. “Bill” Boyer who died June 26, 1985. She was a devoted housewife and mother as well as an excellent seamstress. Mrs. Boyer attended Pine Hill Elementary School, Clinton Twp and attended Clintonville High School, Clintonville, Pa. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting, reading, crafts and crossword puzzles. She is survived by 5 children: Mrs. Kenneth “Shirley A.” Sires of Kennerdell, Mrs. Carol E. Hutchison of Franklin Mr. Kenneth E. Boyer and wife Kathryn of Pensacola, Fl., Mrs. Jack D. “Nancy L.” Graham of Kennerdell, Mr. Thomas L. Boyer and wife Carolyn of Kennerdell. One Brother: Mr. L. “Jack” Cassedy and wife Grace of Kennerdell, 14 grandchildren and 20 great grand children. Several nieces and nephews and one great great grandchild. Mrs.Boyer was preceded in death by her parents and husband, one infant son Larry L. Boyer, one sister, Mrs. Norman M. “Anna Margaret” Hoffman who died July 23, 1982, one grandson Eric J. Graham and one great granddaughter Tiffany Fay Matthews. Friends were received at the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, 109 Emlenton Street, Clintonville on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003. Funeral services were held at the funeral home with the Rev. Anthony Catullo of the Union Presbyterian Church of Clintonville Officiating. Internment was at the Clintonville Methodist Cemetery. Family suggests contributions be sent to the American Heart Association of Western Pa., 174 E. Bissell Ave, Oil City, Pa. 16301 and to the American Cancer Society, Oil City, Pa. 16301.

JAMES K. (Jimmy) HILLIARD
JAMES K. (Jimmy) HILLIARD, Jr., 42, of Eau Claire, Pa. passed away suddenly Wednesday evening (09-24-03) at his residence of natural causes. Born in Butler, Pa. on Sept. 30, 1960, he was the son of James K. Hilliard, Sr. of Eau Claire and Karen Altmire Hilliard of Butler. He attended Moniteau High School and was Protestant by faith. He had been employed as a painter at Bob’s Sales and Service in Eau Claire for a number of years. He was well known in the area for his ability to restore automobiles of a wide variety and well known for his proper painting techniques in that field. He enjoyed cooking, and was widely known for his cooking and hosting outdoor barbeques. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his companion: Beverly Griggs; four daughters: Karen and Kristine Funkhouser of Butler, Tabitha and Jamie Hilliard, both at home; two sons: Corey and Cody Hilliard, both at home; one sister: Mrs. Tony (Doreen) Lominski of Parker; two brothers: Rick Hilliard of Eau Claire and Patrick Hilliard of Washington Twp., Petrolia; three granddaughters and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by one grandson. Friends were received on Saturday, September 27, 2003 at H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, Inc., Main St., Eau Claire. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Sunday in the funeral home with Rev. Kathleen Soltis, pastor of Bethel United Methodist Church in Eau Claire, officiating.. SETH THOMAS ACE and NOAH DAVID ACE, twin infant sons of Clint Edward and Heather Rachele Fox Ace of Emlenton, Pa. passed away Tuesday evening (09- 23-03) at UPMC - Northwest in Franklin, Pa. at birth. In addition to their parents, they are survived by: maternal grandparents: David and Billie Fox of West Freedom, paternal grandparents: Thomas and Melissa Ace of Emlenton; maternal great grandmother: Wilma Weckerly of Perryville, paternal great grandparents: Ronald and Myrna Kellerman and Donald and Frances Ace, all of Emlenton; maternal great, great grandmother: Esther Weckerly of Tionesta; paternal great, great grandparents: Raymond and Helen Kellerman of Emlenton. Also survived by an aunt and an uncle. Private funeral services were held Friday, September 26, 2003 at 10:00 AM in the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, Inc., in Eau Claire with Rev. Bessie Maihle, retired United Methodist Minister, officiating. Interment was in Scrubgrass Cemetery.
