Annabelle Wright
Annabelle Wright, 67, of Mill Street, St. Petersburg, Clarion County, formerly of Rimersburg, died at 1:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2003 at UPMC Northwest, Franklin, following a lengthy illness. Born Sept. 28, 1936, in Huey, Clarion County, she was a daughter of Lawrence and Maude Courson Bowser. Mr. Wright was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy at Huey. Mrs. Wright enjoyed gardening, reading, and the company of her family. She is survived by her husband, James Wright; a son, Richard Toy, of Cabot, Ark.; and six daughters, Charlotte Redding and her friend, Kevin Brown, of St. Petersburg, Mrs. Charles (Debra) Lutz of St. Petersburg, Mrs. Wayne (Darlene) Carroll of Newark, Ohio, Mrs. Kevin (Patty) Elder of Parker, Mrs. Bill (Tina) Barrett of Cabot, Ark., and Mrs. Jamie (Tracy) Clawson of St. Petersburg. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, Timothy, Mark and David Redding; Michael, Josh, Adam and Jessica Lutz; Sara and Jennifer Toy; Nichole and Chip Carroll; Shanna and John Heeter; Alissa and Tiffany Yori; and Cory and Codey Clawson; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Bowser and Leroy Bowser, both of Huey; two sisters, Mrs. Jack (Ella) Mae Bailey of Oak Ridge and Mary Lou West of Clarion; a number of nieces and nephews, and three stepchildren. Mrs. Wright was preceded in death by her first husband, Master Sgt. John Toy, in 1983; two brothers, Johnny Bowser and Lawrence “Buddy” Bowser; and a sister, Ethel Bowser. Friends were received on Sunday October 12, 2003 at the Christopher M. Hile Funeral Home, St. Petersburg. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday October 13th in the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas Kelly, pastor the New Athens Church of God of Prophecy, officiating. Interment was in Sligo Cemetery. Mildred Louise Bobbert
Mildred Louise Bobbert, 81, of West Monterey, Parker RD 1, died Friday morning, Oct. 10, 2003, at her residence of natural causes. Born July 8, 1922, in Fisher, Clarion County, she was the daughter of Merle and Claire Anthony Kahle. She was a member of West Freedom United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker. She was married Nov. 18, 1942, to Donald F. Bobbert, who preceded her in death April 28, 1989. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. James (Bonnie) Bartley of West Monterey, Parker RD 1; three sons, James Bobbert of Spartansburg and Richard and Perry Bobbert, both of West Monterey, Parker RD 1; two sisters, Mrs. Stanley (Dorothy) McClain of Fisher and Mrs. Don (Hazel) Daugherty of Strattenville; and three brothers, Ray Kahle of Youngstown, Ohio, and Mervin and Robert Kahle, both of Fisher. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter and a grandson-in-law. Friends called on Saturday October 11, 2003 at the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, Wayne Street, Parker. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday October 11, 2003 in the funeral home with the Rev. Randy L. Evans, hospice chaplain, officiating. Interment was in West Monterey Cemetery.

Kathy Parenti
Kathy Parenti, 56, of Parker, died at 1:47 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, in St. John Specialty Care Center, Mars, after an illness of several months. Born March 25, 1947, in Parker, she was the daughter of the late George W. “Buss” and Rose Lange Wagner. She was a 1965 graduate of Allegheny- Clarion Valley School District. Mrs. Parenti owned and operated Kathy’s Gift Shoppe in Parker for a period of time. She also was employed in area floral shops. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Parker where she served as a lector and church secretary and was a member of the Altar-Rosary Society. Mrs. Parenti was a well-known crafter in the area. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was married May 14, 1966, to Robert A. Parenti, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Mark (Angela) Viertel and Mrs. Shane (Nicole) Thompson, both of Parker; and five grandchildren, Kelsey, Racheal and Annie Viertel and Karac and Ellie Thompson, all of Parker. She also is survived by two brothers, Larry Wagner of Parker and John “Jack” Crowley of Frankenmuth, Mich.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends called Thursday October 16, and Friday October 17, 2003 in the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, Wayne Street, Parker, Pa. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday October 18, 2003 in St. Mary Catholic Church, Parker, with the Rev. Anthony Ditto presiding. Interment was in the Parker Presbyterian Cemetery.

Louisa A. Eckelbarger Bailey
Louisa A. Eckelbarger Bailey, 90, of Rustic Lane, Emlenton, a longtime Emlenton Elementary School teacher, died at 10:55 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003, shortly after her arrival in the emergency room at UPMC Northwest, Franklin. At the time of her death, she was still living in the renovated family farmhouse near Emlenton. Born April 14, 1913, in Portville, N.Y., she was the daughter of Earl C. and Rose Chaffee Holcomb. She was a graduate of Portville, N.Y., High School and was a 1931 graduate of New York State Teachers Training. Mrs. Eckelbarger Bailey taught two years in the country school in Portville, N.Y. After moving to Emlenton in 1953, she earned a bachelor’s of science degree from Clarion State College. Later she earned a master’s of education degree from Slippery Rock State College. She was a first grade teacher in the Emlenton Elementary School for 25 years and retired in 1978 from the Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District. She always rejoiced to learn of her former students’ life successes. Mrs. Eckelbarger Bailey was a member of the Emlenton United Methodist Church and the administrative council of the church and taught Sunday school for many years. She was a past president of the United Methodist Women. She also was a member of the Emlenton Civic Club, the National Education Association, the Pennsylvania Education Association, the American Association of University Women in Clarion and the Allegheny-Clarion Valley Retired Teachers Association. Mrs. Eckelbarger Bailey enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, reading, cooking and traveling. She spent a lifetime sharing her faith in God by inviting people for meals, sending letters and cards, and giving gifts of her quilting and sewing. She first was married March 29, 1933, to Eugene Lewis Eckelbarger, who died Nov. 30, 1971. On July 6, 1978, she married a lifelong friend, Clarence “Slim” Bailey, who died Aug. 7, 1980. Surviving are four sons and their wives, Major General Donald Eckelbarger, U.S. Army, retired, and his wife, Ann, of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, Nelson Eckelbarger and his wife, Joyce, of Fort Wayne, Ind., Robert Eckelbarger and his wife, Beverly, of Emlenton and Earl Warren Eckelbarger and his wife, Karen, of Westerville, Ohio; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Ann Marie) Carr of Chandler, Ariz.; three stepchildren, Mrs. Jack (Donna) McCord, Mrs. Richard (Nora) Frost and Norman Bailey, all of Florida; 16 grandchildren, David and Robert Eckelbarger of Texas, Amy Maldeney, Eugene Nelson Eckelbarger and Scott Eckelbarger of Indiana, Debora Eckelbarger of Missouri, Carla Hays of New Jersey, Barry Eckelbarger of Emlenton, Tracy Carr, Cindy Richardson, Jeanne Davis and Boyd and Guy Carr, all of Arizona, and Earl Douglas, Bradley Eugene and Jeffrey Eckelbarger of Ohio; and 35 greatgrandchildren. She also is survived by two sisters, Evelyn Hedden of Meadville and Mabel Johnson of Chelsea, Mich. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Holcomb; and a granddaughter, Elaine Eckelbarger McGarvey. Friends were received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Christopher M. Hile Funeral Home, Emlenton, and also from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the Emlenton United Methodist Church. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church with the Rev. Kenneth Duffee, pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Zion Union Cemetery, Richland Township, Venango County. Wilmer Duane Jordan
Wilmer Duane Jordan, 70, of Parker, died Monday morning, November 10,2003, in Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Sligo, following an extended illness. Born July 10, 1933, in Perry Township, Clarion County, he was the son of Sadie Emma Cooper Jordan and the late Wilmer Collin Jordan. Reared on the family farm in Perry Township, Mr. Jordan began working for the former Knox Glass Corp. in Parker. He later became employed by the late Clifford Dunlap of Callensburg, where he became skilled in all areas of the building trade. Mr. Jordan then became owner of Jordan’s Plumbing and Heating and later owner of J. and C. Builders. Under this company, he was responsible for the constructions of more than 70 homes in the Clarion County area. He also operated a backhoe service. He was affiliated with the Park Hill Church of God in West Freedom. Mr. Jordan was involved in farming all of his life and continued to use his farming skills at the Burns Farm in Sligo while his health permitted. He was a member of the Dairy Association. Mr. Jordan loved to fish, watch golf, cook and spend time with his golden retriever, Sam. He was married March 29,1953 to Betty Louise Murray, who survives and resides at the Clarview Nursing facility. His mother, Sadie Jordan, also resides at Clarview. Also surviving are one daughter, Beverly Louise Jordan of Parker RD; two sons and their wives, David Duane and Deborah Jordan of West Freedom and Chris Allen and Holly Jordan of Columbus, Ohio; six grandchildren, Brian James Miller and wife, Courtney, of Lamartine, William Dennis Miller, Jr. of Parker, Kelly Danielle Barrett and Husband, Doug, of Canonsburg, Courtney Delynn Jordan of Butler and Jessica Chase Jordan, both of Columbus, Ohio; and four greatgrandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Victor (Nancy Edna) Shawl of West Sunbury; one brother, Forrest Ralph Jordan and wife, Bonnie, of West Freedom; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Jordan was preceded in death by his father. Friends and family viewed Mr. Jordan on Tuesday and Wednsday Nov. 11 and 12 and the funeral was held on Thursday, Nov. 13th at the H.J.Buzard Funeral Home. The Rev. Lonnie Wolford and the Rev. Corona Say, both of Park Hill Church of God, Officiating. Interment was held in the West Freedom Cemetery.

Josephine R. Strauch
Josephine R. Strauch, 98, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Oct. 16, at Rosewood Estate of natural causes. She was born May 6, 1905, in Foxburg, Pa., the daughter of James H. and Lucille McCartney Bash. She married Alexander Robertson in 1924 in Foxburg. He died in 1958. She later married Paul C. Strauch in 1972. He died Aug. 21, 1993. They lived in Lakeland, Fla., and moved to Waterloo in 1985. She worked in residential services as a dorm mother at the Northern Arizona University and University of Arizona, retiring in 1970. She is survived by three daughters, Jeanne (Sydney) Thomas of Waterloo, Sarah (Harry) Johnson of Plano, Texas, and Barbara (Bruce) Davenport of Tucson, Ariz., a son, Alexander (Peggy) Robertson of Nellysford, Va.; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter; and a sister; Janice Bash of Santa Rose, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; a son James Roberston; a grandson, Eric Johnson; and three sisters, Margaret Gahagan, Genevieve Strauch and Lucille Esterline. There will be a Service of Remembrance at a future date in Foxburg, Pa. Her body has been cremated. Burial will be in the Foxburg Cemetery. Locke Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the family for the benefit of the Foxburg Free Library.

Arnold B. Huff, Sr.
Arnold B. Huff Sr., 59 of 776 Old Rt. 8, Harrisville, Pa. died October 5, 2003 at the United Community Hospital, Grove City after an extended illness. Born on March 3, 1945 in Salem, Pa. he was the son of Walter V. Huff and Claribel B. “Griffin” Huff. Mr. Huff was married April 23, 1965 to Connie M. “Beach” Huff, who survives. He was employed as a machinist by the News Herald and the Derrick Publishing Co. of Oil City. He attended Victory Joint School in Irwin Township, and was a member of AARP. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, country and classical music. Mr. Huff is survived by 5 children: Mrs. Daniel A. “Sandra S.” Pisor of Harrisville, Pa., Mr. Arnold B. Huff Jr. and companion Bridget Pisor of Eau Claire, Pa., Mr. Larry L. and wife Ruth Huff of North Washington, Pa., Mr. Gary A. and wife Sandy Huff of Boyers, Pa., Ms. Laura L. Huff and companion Rob Devinney of Stoneboro, Pa., one sister: Mrs. Edward L. “Beverly J.” Gilmore of Clintonville, Pa. one brother: Mr. James L. Huff of Clintonville, Pa., and 11grandchildren. Mr. Huff was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild, Candice L. Pisor. Gary L. Hamil
Gary L. Hamil, 71, of Eau Claire, died Saturday morning, Oct. 18, 2003, in Butler Memorial Hospital following an illness. Born Feb. 9, 1932, in Higgins Corners, Butler County, he was the son of Walter C. and Martha Cupples Hamil. He was a 1948 graduate of Eau Claire High School and earned a bachelor’s of science degree in education in 1952 with emphasis on guidance from Clarion State College, now Clarion University. He later earned a master’s of science in education degree focused on guidance from Westminster College, New Wilmington. Mr. Hamil was inducted into Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity in 1950 at Clarion University and in 1989, he was accorded a Certificate of Appreciation by the Clarion County Vocational Industrial Club. Mr. Hamil was a well-known educator in the quad-county area, serving as a teacher, guidance counselor and high school principal during his career. He taught one year at Evans City High School in Butler County and then taught at the former Parker Area High School. With the consolidation of area schools, his retirement after more than three decades in education was from Allegheny-Clarion Valley Schools at Foxburg. He was a dedicated teacher in the classroom and was well respected in the field of homebound study for students with illness or disability. Mr. Hamil was a member in retired status of the Pennsylvania and National Education Association. He formerly was affiliated with the American Legion at Parker. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army with the First Armored Division. He was discharged with the rank of corporal. Mr. Hamil was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Eau Claire. He was married Dec. 27, 1963, in the Methodist Church in Eau Claire to Vera Ralston, who survives. Also surviving are a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hamil was preceded in death by his twin infant brother, along with brothers Francis Hamil, Alfred “Smokey” Hamil, Ralph Hamil and Kenneth Hamil. Friends were received at the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home in Eau Claire. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Kathleen Soltis, pastor of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Eau Claire, officiating. Interment was in Eau Claire Cemetery.

Eric Paul Moore Sr.
Eric Paul “Geech” Moore Sr., age 32 of Green St., Chicora, died at 12:15 am Sunday, October 19, 2003 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh from injuries he sustained in a vehicle accident in Fairview Township on October 2. Eric was born in Butler on January 30, 1971. He was the son of Malcolm L. “Terry” Moore and Bonnie L. Crouch Moore Hile. Mr. Moore had attended the Chicora United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and being with his two young sons. He was employed in the construction trade. Mr. Moore was a 1989 graduate e of Karns City, High School. He is survived by: two sons, Eric Paul Moore, Jr. and Ian Michael Moore, both of Chicora; also survived by his father and his wife Malcolm L. “Terry” and Kathy Moore of Chicora; his mother, Bonnie L. Crouch Hile and her friend William Keiper of Homosassa, FL., a brother, Malcolm James “Jamie” Moore of Newport Richey, FL.; a sister Shannon Lee Moore of Chicora; a step-brother, Stephen Hilliard of Butler; a step-sister, Stacy Hilliard, of Chicora; his maternal grandmother and step grandfather, Arthur and Doris Crouch Marx, of Fenelton. Also surviving are his sons’ mother, Sherri Moore and her parents, Valunda and James Stahlman, all of Chicora. A number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Cecil Crouch; his paternal grandparents, Robert M. Moore and Josephine Kelly Moore. Friends were received Tuesday at the Chicora United Methodist Church on Central Avenue in Chicora. Funeral Services were held at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Wallace, pastor of the Chicora Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, and the Rev. Glea Foster, pastor of the Chicora United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was at the St. John Reformed Church Cemetery, Chicora. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Christopher M. Hile Funeral Home, St. Petersburg, Pa. Paul L. Gustafson
Paul L. Gustafson, 62, of Emlenton, died Saturday morning, Oct. 18, 2003, in UPMC Northwest, Franklin, after an illness. Born Jan. 24, 1941, in Kane, he was the son of Ture and Elsa Marie Ryding Gustafson. Mr. Gustafson had been employed for more than 22 years at Gardenscape in Emlenton where he had been both a truck driver and later a heavy equipment operator. Over the years, he had been a truck driver for many companies. He was of the Lutheran faith and was a member of AARP. Mr. Gustafson was a lifetime member of the NRA and was a member of the North American Hunting Club and the Emlenton Rod & Gun Club. He was an avid hunter with a keen interest in bow and arrow, long rifle and powder weapons of all kinds. Mr. Gustafson had been married to LouAnn Pennington June 5, 1993, and she survives. Surviving are a daughter, Denise Alsop of Knox; a stepdaughter, Karena Balsamo of Knox; two sons, Paul D. Gustafson of Key West, Fla., and Ken Gustafson of California; two stepsons, Ray Buzzard of Rockland and Jason Balsamo of Butler; and five grandchildren, Tyler, Samantha and Jacob Gustafson and Amber and Kenny Alsop. Friends were received at the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home in Parker. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Interment was in St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery in Kossuth, Clarion County.

Virgil A. Kunselman
Virgil A. Kunselman, 87, of East Second Street, Oil City; formerly of Emlenton, died at 10:20 p.m Monday, Aug 25, 2003 in Oil City Presbyterian Home following a brief illness. Born April 4, 1916, in New Bethlehem, he was the son of Kathryn Ruth Ritchey. Mr.Kunselman was raised in Emlenton and spent most of his life there, he served with the U.S Army Air Corps during World War II in the South Pacific. Mr.Kunselman was employed by Quaker State Refining Corp for 39 years, retiring in 1978. He was a member Emlenton United Methodist Church. Mr. Kunselman also was a member of the Roy Calvin McGinnis VFW Post 7073 of Parker and the American Legion. He was member of the Parker City- Allegheny Valley lodge, No.521, F&AM and he also belonged to the Consistory, Valley of New Castle. Mr.Kunselman was married in Pittsburgh April 17, 1948, to Cora Barone, who died Nov. 6,1998. He moved to Oil City following the death of his wife. Surviving are a son and his wife, William A. and Patricia L. Kunselman of Oil City. He also is survived by his brother and his wife, Jack and Rose Ritchey of Emlenton and a sister and her husband, Marian and Clem Boyer of Maple Shade. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr.Kunselman was preceded in death by two brothers, Ted and Dean Kunselman and a sister Lois Fisher. A military funeral was held on Thursday August 28th, followed by funeral services at Christopher M. Hile Funeral Home, Emlenton. Interment was in the Emlenton Cemetery. William H. “Bill” McGill
William H. “Bill” McGill, 87 of 20 Circle St., Franklin, PA since 1997 and formerly of Clintonville, Pa. passed away at home August 27, 2003 at 2:30 AM after an extended illness. Mr. McGill, son of James L. and Jennie Corbin McGill, was born January 9, 1916 in Clinton Twp. Venango County. He was married on June 15, 1946 to Esther C. Kyle. Mr. McGill retired from B. & L.E. Railroad after 30 years of service, located at Branchton, PA where he retired in May 31, 1978 as a Labor in the Repair Crew. He attended the Harmony Grove School in Clinton Twp. He was a member of the United Brethren Church in Franklin, PA and formerly a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Clintonville, PA. Mr. McGill was a veteran of W.W.II entering March 29, 1941 and discharged November 18, 1945. Survived by his wife and two sons; Mr. Robert A. McGill of Franklin, PA and Mr. Paul E. McGill and his wife, Judith M. of Franklin, PA. Also surviving are three grandchildren; Marc E. McGill and wife Nikki, Todd M. and Cory A. McGill, two great grandchildren; Morgan Shaw and Tanner James McGill, and one sister; Mrs. Ernest “Rose” Adams of Hudson, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jack McGill. Family received friends at the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home on Thursday August 28, 2003. Funeral services were held on Friday, August 29, 2003 at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Small officiating from the United Brethren Church of Franklin, PA. Interment was held at the Clinton Methodist Cemetery.

Harry John Edinger
Harry John Edinger, 82, of Foxburg, died early Saturday morning, Aug. 30, 2003, at his residence. Born March 28, 1921, in the Village of Monroe, Beaver Township, Clarion County, he was the son of John Henry and Emma Schondelmeyer Edinger. He was raised in St. Petersburg, Clarion County. On Dec. 15, 1939, Mr. Edinger and his lifelong friend, Darrell R. Frederick, joined the U.S. Army and served in Australia, New Guinea and the United States during World War II. Mr. Edinger worked in the oil and gas fields in McKean and Elk Counties. He retired in 1983 following 27 years service with Ashland Oil Co. He was a member of Canby Masonic Lodge No. 520, F&AM of St. Petersburg, The Consistory, Valley of Coudersport; Zem Zem Shrine, Erie; Baker Trail of Tall Cedars; The Clarion County Shrine Club; The Butler County Shrine Club and the Elk County Shrine Club at Pig’s Ear. Mr. Edinger was a member of Richland Grange No. 1413, American Legion Post No. 636 of Foxburg and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2145 of Clarion. He was a life member of St. Petersburg Volunteer Fire Company and was a member of the Foxburg Volunteer Fire Co. and the St. Petersburg Senior Center. He also belonged to the National Rifle Association. For many years Mr. Edinger was a crewmember and served on the board of directors for the Allegheny- Clarion Valley Ambulance Service. He enjoyed camping. Mr. Edinger is survived by his wife, Kathryn Martin Edinger, whom he married in Foxburg on June 6, 1958. They recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. He also is survived by one sone and his companion, Gregory T. Edinger and Ioma McAnallen of Parker; a grandson, Michael Edinger of Mineral Wells, W. VA.; a sister Anna Mae Rhoades of St. Petersburg; and a number of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Edinger was preceded in death by his first wife; an infant brother; and a brother-in-law, Dale H. Rhoades. Memorial Services were held with a Masonic service on Wednesday in the Christopher M. Hile Funeral Home, St. Petersburg. A Christian memorial service was also held led by Father William C. McGuirk, pastor of St. Florian Roman Catholic Church, United, and a nephew Mr. Edinger. Military honors were held in the funeral home. Internment was in the Foxburg Cemetery. Dr. Harold K. Parker
Dr. Harold K. Parker, 88 of Minden, Nevada, also a retired Colonel of USA Air Corps, passed away on August 3, 2003, of a stroke. Dr. Parker was quite well-known in Emlenton as he spent time visiting his aunt, Blanche Parker Mains, and his cousin Mrs. Louise Parker Girard. He was born in 1914 on the Parker Farm, Cherry Valley, Pa. the son of Mr. Harry and Audie Parker. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Susan Parker of Minden, Nevada; his sister Mrs. Dorothy Parker Ferster of St. Augustine, Florida; his daughter, Karen Parker and son, Scott Parker of California; and four grandchildren. Surviving are his cousin Louise Parker Girard of Emlenton, Pa., Jean Parker Nageli of Venice, Florida, Kenneth Parker Mains of Emlenton, Pa.; and Joanne Mains Wile of Arizona. Dr. Parker was preceded in death by Mr. and Mrs. Harry Parker, his parents; his aunts, Mrs. Blanche Parker Mains and Mrs. Mary Parker Strantz; his uncles, Howard Scott Parker, and Mrs. William J. Parker and cousins, Ruth M. Parker. Dr. Parker was a 1937 graduate of Grove City College, Grove City, Pa. He received his Master’s Degree from the University of Pitt, Pittsburgh, Pa. , and his doctorate from Stanford University, Stanford, Ca. Dr. Parke was a teacher, guidance couselor and Superintendent of Schools of Butte County, Ca. Dr. Parker was a Colonel in the USA Air Corps, during World War II.

Robert J. Grimm
Robert J. Grimm, 89, of Myrtle Street, Emlenton, died at 11:27 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8, 2003, in Trinity Living Center, Grove City. Born Nov. 2, 1913, in Emlenton, he was the son of Halbert L. and Carrie Frazier Grimm. He was a 1931 graduate of Emlenton High School and also was a graduate of Welch’s Business College in Oil City. Mr. Grimm was employed by Quaker State Refining Corp. in Emlenton for more than 45 years, retiring in 1978. He and his two brothers also operated a part-time painting business in Emlenton for many years. He was a member of the Emlenton United Methodist Church, the Parker City-Allegheny Valley Masonic Lodge No. 521 and the Emlenton Rod & Gun Club. Mr. Grimm also was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie No. 128 of Franklin; the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 118 of Westfield, N.Y.; the Emlenton Area Over-55 Club and the Kiwanis Club of Allegheny- Clarion Valley. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Grimm was married in St. Petersburg, Clarion County Aug. 26, 1939, to Ruth L. Edinger, who survives. Also surviving are a son and his wife, Robert A. and Melanie Grimm of Boardman, Ohio; two grandchildren, Lynn E. Grimm of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, and Mrs. Scott (Leslie G.) Pannelle of Columbus, Ohio; one great-granddaughter, Erin Johnson, and one great-grandson, Jack O. Johnson, both of Cleveland Heights, Ohio. A brother and his wife, Harry F. and Margaret Grimm of Emlenton and a number of nieces and nephews, also survive him. In addition to his parents, an infant daughter and one brother, H. Richard Grimm, preceded Mr. Grimm in death. Visitation was held on Wednesday September 10, 2003, in the Christopher M. Hile Funeral Home, Emlenton, Cleo A. Hawk, supervisor, and again on Thursday morning in the funeral home prior, to the services. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 11, 2003 in the funeral home with the Rev. Kenneth Duffee, pastor of the Emlenton United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was in Crawford Memorial Cemetery, Emlenton.

Dennis K. Shreffler
Dennis K. Shreffler, 56, of Porterfield Road, Emlenton, a long time auto parts manager, died of natural causes at 6 p.m. on Saturday September 6, 2003, at his residence. Born on march 19, 1947, in Richland Township, Venango County, he was the son of John “Amos” and E. Lucinda Jordan Shreffler. Mr. Shreffler graduated from Allegheny- Clarion Valley High School in 1965. Mr. Shreffler was employed as parts manager at Baker Auto Parts in Emlenton for more than 30 years. At the time of his death he was employed as the parts manager at Ellis Chevrolet, Buick Pontiac in Emlenton. He was of the Protestant faith. Mr. Shreffler is survived by a sister, Sally J. Craig of Porterfield Road, Emlenton; two nephews, Curtis J. Craig and his wife Ronda of State College; and Wesley D. Craig and his wife Krista of Cincinnati, Ohio; a grandniece Celia n. Graig of State College; a grandnephew, Caleb R. Craig of State College; and several cousins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother-inlaw, Robert W. Craig. Friends called on Tuesday, September 9, 2003 at the Christopher M. Hile Funeral Home, Emlenton, Cleo A. Hawk, supervisor. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2003 at the funeral home with the Rev. Susan Montgomery, pastor of the Nickleville Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment was at the Nickleville Cemetery.

Betty M. Dietz
Betty M. Dietz, 84 of Charlotte, N.C. formerly of Irwin and Clarion County, died Friday Sept 5, 2003 at Sunrise Assisted Care Cener in Charlotte, N.C. where she resided for a number of years. Born July 15, 1919 in Perry Township, Clarion County, she was the daughter of Byron and Mary Catherine Heeter McCall. Mrs Dietz was a graduate of the former Parker High School. She was employed at the American Visco Company in Meadville. She was Protestant by faith. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Martin(Dena) Cummins of Greensburg and Mrs. Gary(Darlene) Bennett of Charlotte, N.C; two grandchildern and three step grandchildern. She is also survived by three sisters, Theda(Snooks) McMahon of Country Springs, Sligo, Mrs. Paul(Tiny) Kriebel of West Freedom and Mrs.Ron(Judy) Botz of Parker; three bothers Dean McCall of Clarion, Jerry McCall of Knox and Joe McCall of Parker and also a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Dietz and a brother, Dick McCall. Friends were received Sunday, Sept 7 at the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home in Parker. Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept 7 in West Freedom United Baptist Church with the Rev. Barry Weyant, Church Pastor officiating. Interment followed at the Perryville Cemetery near Parker.
