She was born February 19, 1929, in Hermanie, a daughter of John and Catherine Omlar Hopkinson Sr.
Her husband, George D. Weaverling Sr., died June 3, 1991.
Surviving are two daughters, Karen Simpson of Northampton and Robin Yuhas of Southview; three sons, George D. Weaverling Jr. of Southview, Thomas Weaverling of McDonald and Ronald L. Weaverling of Southview; one sister, Bessie Dino of Canonsburg; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Deceased are one grandchild, George E. Simpson Jr.; four sisters, Georgina Hopkinson, Helen Baughman, Mary Ann Hopkinson and Catherine Druga; and two brothers, John Hopkinson, Jr. and Thomas Hopkinson.

Helen S. Bovetsky, 83, of Ellsworth, died Friday, January 16, 1998, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
She was born June 26, 1915, in Wendel, a daughter, of Walter Shumsky and Anna Lokach Shumsky.
She was a cook at the former County Kitchen in Bentleyville, and was a member of Ave Maria Parish - St. Clement's Church, Ellsworth.
On July 29, 1973, she married John S. "Spike" Bovetsky, who died March 26, 1997.
Surviving are a stepdaughter, Rosemarie Sicchitano of Washington; and a stepson, Ronald J. Bovetsky of Dover, Ohio.
Deceased are her first husband, Lawrence Capobianco, who died December 3, 1965; a stepdaughter, Patricia Laubham; two brothers, Tony and Edward Shumsky; and two sisters, Mary Mehelick and Billie Shumsky.
H. Wilma Hancher

H. Wilma Hancher, 82, of Baird Avenue, Washington, died at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, January 18, 1998, in Presbyterian Medical Center, Washington.
She was born July 19, 1915, in West Finley Township, a daughter of John and Etta Bell Irey. Her foster parents were James and Fannie Bell Longstreath.
Mrs. Hancher was a resident of Washington for 60 years, and was Protestant.
She was a graduate of Trinity High School and was last employed by G.C. Murphy's in Washington, and was a homemaker.
On August 20, 1934, she married Harry C. Hancher Sr., who died January 24, 1978.
Surviving are two sons, James W. Hancher of Washington and Harry C. Hancher Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, Mark Hancher, Marla Nicolella, Matthew Hancher, Mitchell Hancher, Shawn Hancher, Stacy Shad, Keith Hancher, Harry Hancher III, Kathy Blose, Michael Barber and Tracy Barber; nine great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Shirley Mae Barber; a sister, Ellen G. White; and a brother, Addison Bell "Bub" Longstreath.

Lucy M. Krist, 85, of Canonsburg, died Sunday, January 18, 1998, in Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh following lengthy illness.
She was born December 24, 1912, in Canonsburg, a daughter of Louis and Jennie Martino.
Mrs. Krist lived in Canonsburg her entire life where she was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic parish and had attended Canonsburg schools. She was a homemaker and a cook last employed at the Jefferson Room in Canonsburg.
Surviving are a daughter, Georgia Popiolkowski of Canonsburg; a son Frank Krist of Munster, Ind.; fours sisters, Thelma Bruno and Viola Veres, both of Canonsburg, Helen Polochak of Highland, Ind., and Louise Tonti of Strabane; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two daughters, Helen Krist France and Ann J. Zemaitis; two sisters, Laura Venci and Sue Raneri; four brothers, Joseph, Amerigo "Jerry", John and Al Martino.

Jeanette Lobis, 80, of South Main Street, Washington, formerly of Beech Street Extension, died at 5 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 1998, at Presbyterian Medical Center, Washington.
She was born April 13, 1917, in Wheeling, W. Va., a daughter of Anthony and Teresa Marasco Russo.
Mrs. Lobis was a homemaker and a member of the Christian Church of North America in Washington. She was a lifetime member of Victoria Lodge 76.
She attended Washington High School.
On August 27, 1938, she married Tom Lobis, who died February 22, 1996.
Surviving are one son, John William Lobis of Missouri; a daughter Marie A. Taylor of Washington; two sisters, Rose Foil of Washington and Mary Donato of Spokane, Wash.; four grandchildren, Tawny Clarke, Jackqueline Lobis, Tom William Lobis and Paul W. Taylor Jr.; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two sisters, Julia Zambell and Anna Elizabeth Russo; four brothers, Gennaro, Louis, Samuel and John Russo.
Dewayne Longstreth

Dewayne L. Longstreth, 54, of McDonald, died Sunday, January 18, 1998, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a brief illness.
He was born September 12, 1944, in McDonald, a son of the late Robert and Naomi Tournay Longstreth.
Mr. Longstreth was a 1962 graduate of Fort Cherry High School and held an associate degree from Robert Morris College. He was vice president of Metro Regional Commercial Banking for National City Bank working at National City Center in Pittsburgh. He had worked for the bank for 36 years beginning when it was Western Pennsylvania National Bank. He was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church in McDonald
On November 7, 1964, he married Lana Marie Garcia Longstreth, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Eric D. Longstreth at home; a daughter Kristen L. Longstreth at home; a brother Robert L. Longstreth of McDonald; two sisters, Bonna Scarfo and Nancy French, both of McDonald; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary K. Cwierz Magayna, 91, of Vestaburg, died Saturday, January 17, 1998, in Franklin Heath Care Center, Waynesburg.
She was born October 8, 1906, in Mt. Pleasant, a daughter of Michael and Anna Siwierka Cwierz.
She was a homemaker and a member of the parish of St. Oliver Plunkett, member of the Beth-Center Senior Citizens, member of SNPJ Lodge 759 of Brownsville.
Surviving are a son, Edward Magayna of Vestaburg; three daughters, Irene Biksey of Warren, Ohio, Louise Misenko of Mentor, Ohio, and Patricia Throckmorton of Geneva, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Walter Cwierz of Norwalk, Calif., and Carl Cwierz of La Mirada, Calif.; a sister, Anna Bouras of McKeesport; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are her husband, Max M. Magayna, who died November 22, 1979; a son, Max S. Magayna, who died September 21, 1988; two brothers, John and Stanley Cwierz; and a sister, Sophia Rocks.

Anne P. McCahill Molinaro, 80, of Washington, died Friday, January 16, 1998, in Washington Hospital, after a lengthy illness.
She was born February 25, 1917, in Cherry Valley, a daughter of John and Isabelle Murphy McCahill.
Mrs. Molinaro was employed as a waitress at Howard Johnson's restaurant for 17 years, retiring in 1972.
She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, Washington. She also was a member of Route 19 Tuesday Night Bowling Scratch League, member of the Elks Club dartball league and the Elks couple golf league. She also previously was a member of the Elks mixed bowling league at the Alpine Club, Washington. She loved to read.
On October 27, 1939, she married Thomas M. "Tinker" Molinaro, who survives.
Surviving are a son, Thomas W. Molinaro of Washington; two sisters, Jean McCahill of Cecil and Sarah Kraushaar of Muse; two grandchildren, Adam T. Molinaro and Grant T. Molinaro; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two brothers, John and Francis McCahill; two sisters, Mary Marsich and Margaret Kenneweg; and one grandson, Jason T. Molinaro.
Rose Moncilovich

Rose Moncilovich, 84, of 631 McNary Avenue, Canonsburg, died at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, January 18, 1998, in Horizon Senior Care Center, Canonsburg.
She was born August 8, 1913, in Bridgeville, a daughter of Leonard and Mary Cumer Verdinek.
Mrs. Moncilovich spent most of her life in the Canonsburg area where she was a member of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church and a member of S.N.P.J. Lodge 138 of Strabane.
She was a nursing aide at Mayview State Hospital and formerly worked in the RCA plant in Canonsburg.
On December 31, 1938, she married Dan Moncilovich, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Gerald Helmick of Canonsburg and Daniel Moncilovich of Swedsboro, N.J.; two sisters, Mary Mangin of Washington and Catherine Spiller of Canonsburg; seven grandchildren, Martha, Marion, Glenn and Daniel Moncilovich, Jerry Helmick, Suanne Kelly and Teresa Engler; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a son, Alan Moncilovich, and three brothers, Joe, Frank and Bill Verdinek.
Sidney T. Morgan

Sidney T. Morgan, 92, of O'Hara Township, Pittsburgh, died Saturday, January 17, 1998, in UPMC-St. Margaret's Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born June 26, 1905, in Washington, a son of Sidney T. Morgan Sr. and Mae Harris Morgan.
Mr. Morgan was a retired engineer from Salem-Brosius Co. in Carnegie.
He attended Carnegie Mellon University. He was a member of Emory United Methodist Church in Pittsburgh and he enjoyed golfing.
Surviving are is wife, Mae Ziringer Morgan; and several nieces and nephews.
Royal Lynn Sprowls
RCA draftsman retiree was Army veteran of WW II
Royal Lynn Sprowls, 79, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Washington and Amity, died Friday evening, January 16, 1998, in Valley Lutheran Hospital, Mesa.
He was born December 16, 1918, in Washington, a son of Royal H. and Elizabeth Shape Sprowls.
Mr. Sprowls had formerly been employed by RCA as a draftsmen, retiring in 1980. He was a member of First Christian Church in Washington, a former member of National Lodge 81 I.O.O.F. and Lady Hogue Rebecca Lodge, Buffalo Grange. He was a photographer and was very involved in genealogy, was a graduate of Prosperity High School and attended Washington and Jefferson College. He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater during World War II.
He was twice married, his first wife, Leona Hoover, died in 1971,
On October 12, 1988, he married Della Caldwell Tarr, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are a son, Gary Sprowls of Amity; two daughters, Cinda Schurr of Ellington, Fla., and Sandy Fien of Washington; a stepdaughter Nancy Elizabeth Megyesy of Apache Junction, Ariz.; two half-brothers, Eugene H. Sprowls of Yardley and John S. Sprowls of Roanoke, Va.; a half-sister, Margaret Ann Todd Brown, of Houston, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a half-brother, Robert D. Sprowls.
Lorraine M. Styperk

Lorraine M. Burgh Styperk, 77, of 220 North Main Street, Houston, died Saturday, January 17, 1998, in Greenery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Canonsburg.
She was born May 28, 1920, in Canonsburg, a daughter of Laurance and Margaret Palmer Burgh.
She spent most of her life in the Canonsburg area and was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Houston, the Chartiers-Houston Senior Citizens and the Chartiers Senior Citizens.
Prior to her retirement she was employed at Mayview State Hospital as a psychiatric aide and was a member of the Retired Pennsylvania State Employees Association.
Surviving are a son, William Styperk III of Rockwood; a daughter, Jane Friend of Hendersonville; five grandsons, Robert Leibhart, William Styperk III, William Daniel Styperk, Brian Styperk and Christopher Friend; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are her husband, William L. Koz Styperk, who died October 29, 1978; and a sister, Delphia Jeffers.

Carmela Tigani Arceri, 93, of 540 Taylor Drive, Canonsburg, formerly of Elm Street, died at 12:10 a.m. Sunday, January 18, 1998.
She was born June 24, 1904, in Laureana, Reggio Calabria, Italy, a daughter of Giovannbattista and Rosaria Condo Tigani.
Mrs. Arceri had been a resident of the Canonsburg area since 1924, where she was a member of St. Patrick Parish and the Christian Mothers and Guild of the parish.
Her husband, Joseph Arceri, died April 1, 1980. She was a homemaker.
Surviving is a daughter, Rose Scalzo, with whom she made her home for the last six years. Also surviving are a sister, Rose Tigani of Italy; five grandchildren, Katherine Laputka, Patricia Luisi, Joseph Kubacki, Patricia Arceri and Janine Barnett; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is one son, Patsy Arceri, who died January 20, 1986, and one brother and two sisters.

She was born December 5, 1913, a daughter of Mike and Mary Kerna Suwak.
She was a lifelong resident of Washington and was a member of St. John's Orthodox Church of Canonsburg.
Surviving are four brothers, John Suwak of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Andy Suwak of Hickory, Nick Suwak and Charles Suwak, both of Washington; a sister, Helen Artemko of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are brothers, Mike Suwak, Pete Suwak, and Paul Suwak, who died in infancy.

Ruth U. Caltumo, 69, of McDonald, died Monday, January 19, 1998.
She was born January 28, 1928, in Berlin, Germany, a daughter of Alfred and Frieda Artz Kluth.
Mrs. Caltumo worked as a nurses' aide for the Methodist Home on Bower Hill Road in Mt. Lebanon for 11 years and as a private duty nurses' aide for five years.
She was a member of Hickory Presbyterian Church.
On March 31, 1955, she married Alfred J. "Bear" Caltumo, who died March 17, 1989.
Surviving are a son, Alfred Ronald Caltumo of Hickory; a daughter, Janet Mary Wussick of McDonald; two brothers, Gunter and Wolfgang Kluth, both of Berlin, Germany; a sister, Loni Barthelemy of Stoughton, Mass.; and five grandchildren, Diane and Donald Wussick Jr., and Alfred R. Jr., Krystle and John C. Caltumo.
A son, Harry Caltumo, died in 1987.

Marjorie G. Curry, 88, formerly of Lawrence Street, Monongahela, died Sunday, January 18, 1998.
She was born April 18, 1909, in Monongahela, a daughter of Louis and Marjorie Geekie Grodecour.
Mrs. Curry was a lifelong resident of Monongahela, where she was a member of Transfiguration Church.
She was a graduate of Monongahela High School and Drexel University and owned BAMAR Ceramics which she operated from her home on Lawrence Street.
Her husband, John Patrick Curry, died May 28, 1992.
Surviving are a son, J. Patrick Curry of Monongahela; and two grandsons, Mark Curry of Monongahela and Greg Curry of Richmond, Va.
Deceased is a sister, Frances L. Grodecour, who died March 13, 1994.
Alma Z. Garrett
California resident born in Waynesburg
Word has been received of the death of Waynesburg native Alma Zimmerman Garrett, 75, Huntington Beach, Calif., who died Friday, January 2, 1998.
She was born, December 15, 1922, in Waynesburg, daughter of George L. and Margaret C. Zimmerman.
Mrs. Garrett lived in Huntington Beach for 37 years and was the wife of the late Thomas B. Garrett.
She retired from the Newport Mesa Unified School District in California after 22 years of service as a credentials technician.
Mrs. Garrett was a member of the Women's Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, Los Ayundantes, American Contact Bridge League, the Democratic Party and the Cornerstone Genealogy Society.
Surviving are two brothers, the Honorable George L. Zimmerman of Alamagordo, N.M., and James B. Zimmerman of Waynesburg; three daughters, Shelley Garrett Staniforth and Rebecca G. Pickford, both of Santa Ana, Calif., and Ellen T. Garrett of Peidmont, Calif.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering in her honor will be held in Santa Ana Saturday, January 31, 1998.
Charles Hixenbaugh
Former Canonsburg resident dies in Texas
Charles D. Hixenbaugh, 65, of Pflugerville, Texas, formerly of Canonsburg, died Saturday, January 17, 1998, in St. John's Hospital, Austin, Texas.
He was born September 21, 1932, in Canonsburg, a son of the late William Sr. and Edith Johnson Hixenbaugh.
Mr. Hixenbaugh served in the U.S. Marine Corps; was a member of the American Legion Post 902 of Houston; worked at Canonsburg Pottery; and was retired from Diversified Ceramics in Alvin, Texas, where he created molds.
Surviving are five sons, Charles W. Hixenbaugh of Pflugerville, with whom he resided, Robert W. Hixenbaugh of Washington, Mark S. Hixenbaugh of Oakland and Roger A. Hixenbaugh and Eric D. Hixenbaugh, both of Alvin; a daughter, Donelle L. Smittle of Canonsburg; a sister, Linda Polewski of Sarasota, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
Three brothers, Andrew Hixenbaugh, Robert F. Hixenbaugh and William E. Hixenbaugh Jr., are deceased.
Flo Minton Jacobs
Former Graysville woman taught 25 years
Flo Minton Jacobs, 90, of 154 West High Street, Waynesburg, died at 7:45 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 1998, in Greene County Memorial Hospital, Waynesburg.
She was born October 28, 1907, in Graysville, a daughter of Lowrie and Nancy Chess Minton.
Mrs. Jacobs attended elementary school in Graysville, was a 1926 graduate of Richhill Township High School and attended Waynesburg College, where she received a standard teaching certificate on June 20, 1935.
She taught elementary school for 25 years, beginning in a one-room schoolhouse in Graysville and later teaching at different locations throughout Greene County.
Mrs. Jacobs was a member of Washington Street United Methodist Church, Waynesburg, and its Fidelis Sunday school class. She was a life member of Greene County Retired Teachers Association and the Pennsylvania and National Teachers' Associations.
On June 11, 1927, she married John Harold Jacobs, who died March 13, 1981.
Surviving are a grandson, Christopher Richard Jacobs of Brookline, Mass.; two sisters, Laura Williamson of Graysville and Dora Hamilton Jacobs of Thomaston, Maine; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a son, the Rev. J. Warren Jacobs; a granddaughter, Patricia Elizabeth Jacobs; a sister, Anna Jane Regalis; and a brother, George Minton.
Sidney T. Morgan
Retired engineer formerly of Washington
Sidney T. Morgan, 92, of O'Hara Township, formerly of Washington, died Saturday, January 17, 1998, in UPMC St. Margaret from complications of a stroke.
He was born June 26, 1905, in Washington and attended Carnegie Institute of Technology's school of engineering.
He retired from Salem-Brosius Corp., a steel manufacturer in Carnegie, where he had worked as an engineer for more than 30 years.
Mr. Morgan was a member of Emery Methodist Church in East Liberty, the Pittsburgh Field Club for several years and he enjoyed golf.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Mae Ziringer Morgan; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held in Aspinwall.
Helen E. Piskura
Former employee of Sikorsky Aircraft
Helen Elizabeth Piskura, also known as Mary Helen Piskura, 86, of S Bridge Road, Buffalo Township, formerly of Stratford, Conn., died at 10:12 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 1998, in Washington Hospital following a lenghty illness.
She was born September 7, 1911, in Bridgeport, Conn., a daughter of Mathias and Lizzie Mikula Mihaley.
Mrs. Piskura was a former employee of Sikorsky Aircraft before becoming a fulltime homemaker. She was Catholic.
Her husband, John Joseph Piskura Sr., died in May 1972.
Surviving are four daughters, Betty Nickles of Woodsville, N.H., Mary Hakey of Shelton, Conn., Frances Hadden, with whom she made her home, and Stephanie Saffo, also of Woodsville; a brother, Robert Mihaley of Stratford; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, John Joseph Piskura Jr.; three brothers, Joseph, Matthew and John Mihaley; and a sister, Anna Mihaley.
There will be no local visitation. Services and burial will take place in Stratford.
Albert F. Yarkosky
Retired from Universal Cyclops, Bridgeville
Albert F. Yarkosky, 90, of Carnegie, died Monday, January 19, 1998, in St. Clair Hospital.
He was born May 6, 1907, in Canonsburg, a son of John and Anna Gresok Yarkosky.
Mr. Yarkosky traveled the states in the 1920s and 1930s as a steel construction worker for H.H. Robertson. He was later employed at the former Universal Cyclops Specialty Steel Division in Bridgeville, from which he retired in 1973.
Mr. Yarkosky was a bartender at the Hussar's Club and the Polish Falcons in Carnegie; and was a former member of the SNPJ and the KSKJ, both of Strabane, and the Polish White Eagles in Carnegie.
His wife, Ethel Sikora Yarkosky, is deceased.
Surviving are three daughters, Martha Yarkosky, Lorraine Yarkosky and Carol Katrencik; a grandson, Jason Katrencik; a sister, Helen Bitsko; and a niece and three nephews.
Deceased are three brothers, Andy, Mike and John Yarkosky; and a sister, Mary Flowers.

She was born April 8, 1921, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Chauncey and Helen Calahan Chillson.
Mrs. Dunhoff was a homemaker and was Protestant.
She was a longtime resident of the Pittsburgh area.
She was married to Clifford L. Dunhoff, who died in 1968.
Surviving are two sons, Harold E. Dunhoff of Canonsburg and Richard D. Dunhoff of Brattleboro, Vt.; one sister, Jean Horne of Bethel Park; three grandchildren, Kimberly Dunhoff, Aimee Dunhoff and Nathan Dunhoff; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a son, Clifford L. Dunhoff, who died February 16, 1997; two bothers, James Chillson and Clifford Chillson; and one sister, Isobella Kotula.

He was born August 31, 1932, in Mt. Morris, a son of Clarence Daniel and Irene Mae Childs Kennedy.
He had a career in the military and was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having completed two tours in Vietnam. While in the service he received several decorations, including the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and the Silver Star. After 20 years of service in the Army he retired and worked several years with the military as a civilian.
Surviving are two daughters, Eleanor Akers of Louisville, Ky., and Virginia Kennedy of Vergrheinfeld, Germany; five grandchildren; five sisters, Velma Pauline Classic, Joyce Elaine Goodwin, Vesta Jean Clifford, all of Warren, Ohio, Inez Yvonne Kennedy of Waynesburg, and Patricia Ann Doychack of Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers, David Charles Kennedy of Mt. Morris and Louis Lindsey Kennedy of Brave.
Deceased are four brothers, Howard Lee and Ronald Eugene Kennedy and two brothers who died in infancy.

Charlotte T. Lapin, 78, of McDonald, died Tuesday, January 20, 1998, in her home.
She was born April 19, 1919, in Cecil, a daughter of Samuel and Louise Teston Tornabene.
Mrs. Lapin was a homemaker, member of the Irons Memorial United Presbyterian Church in McDonald; member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 485 of McDonald; McDonald Senior Citizens; and the McDonald Women's Club.
One May 11, 1946, she married Walter Lapin, who died January 11, 1989.
Surviving are two sons, Walter L. Lapin of Oakdale and Frank Lapin of McDonald; a daughter, Jane Benard of McDonald; one brother, Charles Tornabene of Bridgeville; two sisters, Louise Deliere of Cecil and Angela Hall of Canonsburg; four granddaughters, Bridget Benard, Elizabeth Little, Rebecca and Adrienne Lapin.

Sharon A. Loughman, 54, of 18 West and 100 North, Rochester, Ind., died at 10:14 p.m. Monday, January 19, 1998, in Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.
She was born May 2, 1943, in Fairmont, W.Va., a daughter of the late W. V. and Jean Betone Ayersman.
She came to Rochester from Peru in 1979, and she lived in Wabash, Ind., for a few years before returning to Rochester in 1992.
Mrs. Loughman was a team leader for Gas Service Northern Indiana Public Service Co., Plymouth, for 321/2 years.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Wabash.
On January 20, 1963, in Waynesburg, she married George W. Loughman, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Joy Baillieul of Rochester, Ind.; a son, Joe Loughman of Fort Worth, Texas; three grandchildren, Haley and Clay Baillieul and Karlye Loughman; three sisters, Peggy Black of Mt. Dora, Fla., Wilma Blair and Mary McCann, both of Waynesburg; a brother, Joe Ayersman of Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, is a sister, Kay Greer.

Alfred O. Mazzie Sr., 80, of Charleroi, died Monday, January 19, 1998, in Mon Valley Hospital, Carroll Township.
He was born October 3, 1917, in Fallowfield Township, a son of Ermindo and Julia Rosini Checchi.
Mr. Mazzie was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church Parish, VFW Post 167, American Legion Post 22 and the Italia Unita Club, all of Charleroi. He served during World War II in the U. S. Army and was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel's Allenport plant.
Surviving are his wife, Rose Rossano Mazzie; a daughter, Judy Beichner of Washington; a son, Alfred Mazzie Jr. of Monessen; two sisters, Elvera Bello of Brockton, Mass., and Florence Bartolozzi of Hobesound, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Mark and Danielle Beichner, Christopher Aiello and Lisa Cole.

Elizabeth E. Wyels Miller, 93, of Shadyside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Pittsburgh, formerly of Scenery Hill, Vestaburg, Beallsville and Washington, died at 2 a.m. Tuesday, January 20, 1998, in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh.
She was born April 24, 1904, in Elizabeth, a daughter of William F. and Cora Maude Davis Wyels.
She was a member of Scenery Hill United Methodist Church and a life member of Order of Eastern Star.
On September 29, 1922, she married George Robson Miller, who died August 26, 1975.
Surviving are a son, William R. Miller of Hendersonville, N.C.; a daughter, Marilyn M. Diamond of Pittsburgh; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was the last of her immediate family.
Deceased are a brother, George I. Wyels; three sisters, Lucretia Greenwalt, Martha Brunk and Charlotte Philipps.
James Albert Morris
Washington native retired from gas company
Word has been received of the death of James Albert Morris, 80, of Blanket, Texas, formerly of Washington, who died January 6, 1998, in Columbia Brownwood Regional Medical Center, Brownwood, Texas.
He was born February 4, 1917, in Washington, a son of James Garfield and Louella Ducker Morris.
Mr. Morris served in the U.S. Army from December 7, 1942, to February 4, 1946, as a technical sergeant in ordinance.
He was retired from El Paso Natural Gas Co. and was a member of First Baptist Church in Blanket.
His wife, Nettie Albert Morris, is deceased.
Surviving are a daughter, Judith Phillips of Washington; three stepdaughters, Brenda Jones of Comanche, Texas, Linda Minor of Marlin, Texas, and Deborah Weeaks of San Angelo, Texas; seven stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews in the Washington area.
Deceased are a brother, Wilbert Morris; and three sisters, Mildred Morrison, Georgia Stiltenpole and Anna Mae Schneider.
Burial was January 8 in Blanket Cemetery.
Ralph D. Tharp
Ohio Bell employee enjoyed hunting, fishing
Ralph D. Tharp, 62, of Garrettsville, Ohio, and formerly of Wind Ridge R.D.1, died at 3:45 p.m. Monday, January 19, 1998, in Summit County Hospice Care Center in Akron, Ohio, after being seriously ill for the past year.
He was born June 10, 1935, in Center Township, a son of Perry Lee and Priscilla Jane "Jennie" Phillips Tharp.
Mr. Tharp was a resident of Ohio since 1988 after living in New Stanton for 15 years.
He was a 1956 graduate of Center Township High School and was a peacetime veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a specialist 3rd class.
Mr. Tharp was Protestant.
He was a former employee of Ohio Bell, the National Screw Co., Cleveland State University and was employed by the VW plant in New Stanton for 10 years prior to his last employment for eight years with Mt. Sinai Hospital in Cleveland. He enjoyed fishing and hunting at Pymatuning State Park.
On March 29, 1965, he married Jacqueline Cullen, who survives.
Surviving are three sons, Ralph D. Tharp Jr. of Killbuck, Ohio, Samuel A. Tharp of Madison and Mark C. Tharp of Mayo, S.C.; two daughters, Barbara Jane MacLagan of Alliance, Ohio, and Jacqueline Lee West of Killbuck, Ohio; three brothers, Perry A. and Wayne Tharp, both of Monaca, and James Tharp of Waynesburg; two sisters, Gertrude King of Waynesburg and Jean Whitlatch of Georgetown; 11 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Audrey June Thompson, 67, of Route 136, Washington, died at 9:15 p.m. Monday, January 19, 1998, in her home. She had been ill since April 1997.
Mrs. Thompson was born June 22, 1930, in Carnegie, a daughter of Trevor George and Gertrude Blanche Stevens Davis.
A homemaker, Mrs. Thompson was a member of the Fourth Presbyterian Church; was a 1950 graduate of Trinity High School; and served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 until 1960. She also served in the Korean War.
In 1960 she married William John Thompson, who survives.
Also surviving, are a daughter, Kimberly Joann Sterling of Eighty Four; three sisters, Juanita Theresa Ward of Washington, Idella Brown of Jonesboro, Ga., and Ethel Mae Chappo of Washington; and two grandchildren, Alyviaand Brandon Sterling.

Robert M. McKee Sr., 87, of 524 Hutchinson Avenue, Canonsburg, died Sunday, January 18, 1998, at South Hills Rehabilitation Center, Canonsburg.
He was born September 13, 1910, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a son of Bert and Mary Margaret Miller McKee.
Mr. McKee was a 1928 graduate of Canonsburg High School and was a retired design engineer for the former Fort Pitt Bridge Works of Canonsburg.
He was a past member of Canonsburg Borough Council and served on the planning commission.
He was also treasurer of the Greater Canonsburg Public Library board of directors for many years.
On September 14, 1935, he married Mary K. Deemer, who died September 5, 1988.
Surviving are two daughters, Katherine McKee of Canonsburg and Mary Margaret Walz of Menlo Park, Calif.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Deceased are a son, Robert M. McKee Jr.; and two brothers, William and Glenn McKee.

Charles S. Dailey, 79, of Claysville, died Tuesday, January 20, 1998, in Humbert Lane Health Care Center, Washington.
He was born February 5, 1918, in Clarion, a son of John and Margaret Dillie Dailey.
Mr. Dailey was Protestant.
He was a graduate of Ashland High School, Knox, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Dailey was employed by Columbia Gas Co. for 30 years until his retirement in 1981 and was a member of its Quarter Century Club.
He was past master of the Claysville Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and a member of Claysville American Legion James R. Hunt Post 639.
Mr. Dailey served as a member of Claysville Borough Council and McGuffey School Board,
He enjoyed gardening.
On September 20, 1946, in Shippensville, he married Marion E. Caldwell, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Roger Dailey of Salem, Ohio, and Wayne Dailey at home; two grandsons, Charles and Mark Dailey; two stepgrandchildren, Rodney and Erica Sailer; and three great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Morgantown, W.Va.

Donley of Route 13, Morgantown, W.Va., and Audra Errol Yost of Route 2, Fairview, W.Va.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Minor of Mapletown and Loretta Ridgway of Greensboro.
Deceased are her husband, Frank B. Donley, who died in 1981; three brothers, Robert, Weller and Herbert Stevenson; two sisters, Mildred Minor and Doris Robbins; and three great-grandsons.

Word has been received of the death of Mary Ester Stetson Greene, 72, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Washington, who died January 11, 1998, of heart failure.
She was born December 25, 1925, in Washington.
Mrs. Greene was a member of Washington Senior Citizens Center and Calvary Temple of Washington.
Her husband, William Greene, is deceased.
Surviving are a daughter, Carolyn Greene Fuchs of Washington; a son, John Greene of Arizona; four grandchildren, Heather Greene, Christopher Greene, Kim Fuchs and Ken Fuchs; three great-granddaughters; two brothers, Joseph Stetson of Washington and William Stetson of Florida; and a sister, Alice Stetson Call of Washington.

Albert Reese, 63, of Bentleyville, died at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 1998, in Mt. Macrina Nursing Center, Uniontown.
He was born November 15, 1934, in Somerset, a son of John and Mary Wisniewski Reese.
Mr. Reese was a retired plant operator at the Cokeburg water plant. He had also worked as a mechanic for the former Marchando Ford in Brownsville and as a security guard for Allied Security.
During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army for four years as a military policeman.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 165 of Bentleyville and the Loyal Order of the Moose No. 1625 of Cokeburg.
He participated in the Monday night mixed bowling league at Tan-0-Bell Lanes, Bentleyville.
On July 3, 1958, he married Jacquelyn Ann Kennedy, who died November 12, 1992.
Surviving are a daughter, Janet L. Reese, at home; three brothers, John Reese of McKeesport, Frank Reese of Bentleyville and Julius Reese of North Carolina; and three sisters, Wilma Manning of Washington, Wanda "Patty" Beckinger of Monongahela and Dorothy Bowman of Ohio.
Deceased is a brother, Henry Reese.

John S. Reichart Sr., 94, of 120 Forest Mere Circle, Butler, died at midnight Tuesday, January 20, 1998, in the Concordia Lutheran Home, Cabot.
He was born on April 4, 1903, in West Monterey, Butler County, a son of Thomas M. and Maude Smith Reichart.
Mr. Reichart is a retired foreman from Washington Steel Corp. and prior to that worked at Armco Steel.
He attended Community Alliance Church; was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army; was a former member of Christian Business Men's Committee, Gideons; and was a former deacon and Sunday School teacher at Broad Street Baptist Church, Washington.
His wife, Yvonne F. Reichart, died March 30, 1991.
Surviving are a son, John S. Reichart Jr. of Butler; two daughters, Janet Gail Lee of Orlando, Fla., and Carol Lee Clutter of Washington; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Watson M. Reichart of Erie; two sisters, Pauline Tidd of Rocky Grove and Ruth Cross of Tacoma, Wash.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Michael L. Simkovic, 79, of Carmichaels, formerly of Nemacolin, died at 8:10 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 1998, at Uniontown Hospital.
He was born January 9, 1919, in Edenborn, a son of Michael and Mary M. Matey Simkovic.
Mr. Simkovic was a member of Our Lady of Consolation Church in Nemacolin, where he had served as an usher and on the parish council.
He was employed as a mechanic at the U.S. Steel Robena Mine for 43 years before retiring in 1982.
He served in the U.S. 5th Army in World War II.
He was a member of UMWA Robena Local 6321, Fort Mason American Legion Post 423 of Masontown, Faith-Gray-McArdle VFW Post 4584 of Masontown and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 20 of Uniontown. He served for 20 years as president of Nemacolin Inc. and served on its board of directors for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Nemacolin Volunteer Fire Department.
On February 29, 1956, he married Mercedes D. Hohenshell, who died January 28, 1996.
Surviving are two sons, Jerome Simkovic of Carmichaels and Stanley Duane Kasmala of Dearborn, Mich.; two daughters, Barbara Hall of Levittown, N.Y., and Betty D. Janas of Ormond Beach, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Andrew Simkovic of Carmichaels; three sisters, Anna Zdravecky of Nemacolin, Velma Kesock of Uniontown and Josephine Kozlowski of Nemacolin; and several nieces and nephews.

Retired miner fought at Battle of Bulge in WWII
James A. Tedrow Sr., 80, of Second Street, Mather, died at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 1998, at his home, following a brief illness.
He was born August 13, 1917, in Republic, a son of Charles W. and Mary Ethel Pomeroy Tedrow.
Mr. Tedrow lived most of his life in Mather and was a member of Rolling Meadows Church of God, Waynesburg, where he was involved in church activities.
He retired in 1981 after 43 years as a coal miner with Gateway Coal Company.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 88th Ordinance and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
On July 31, 1948, he married Marjorie V. Bevans, who died August 30, 1995.
Surviving are two daughters, Shirley Despot of Clarksville and J. Lorraine Shipley of Clarksville; three sons, James A., Robert R. and Thomas W. Tedrow Sr., all of Mather; a stepson, David Bevans of Bloomington, Ill.; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Tedrow of Jefferson R.D. 1; three sisters, Beatrice Wheeler of Dewey, Ariz., Harriet Watson of McKees Rocks and Gloria Tedrow of Mather; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Hughes Hartley, 87, of Dover, Ohio, formerly a 33-year resident of Claysville, died Wednesday, January 21, 1998, in Hennis Nursing Home, Dover.
She was born February 24, 1910, in West Finley, a daughter of John and Lee Etta White Hughes.
Mrs. Hartley attended Claysville United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and was employed by Somerville Bakery, Claysville, retiring in 1971. She enjoyed cooking and baking and was known as 'grandma' to many young people in the Claysville area.
On September 28, 1926, in Washington, she married Piercie S. Hartley, who died December 31, 1961.
Surviving are a daughter, Virginia Richey of Magnolia, Ohio; four granddaughters, Patty Hartley Shuman, Penelope "Penny" Henry Kennedy, Debbie Underwood and Kathy Mowery; and 10 great-grandchildren.

James F. Hopper, 48, of McMurray, died Wednesday, January 21, 1998, at West Penn Hospital.
He was born January 4, 1950, in Pittsburgh, a son of John F. and Anna M. Janetka Hopper of Bethel Park.
Mr. Hopper was the purchasing manager for I.C.F. Kaiser Engineers.
He was also a member of the Purchasing Managers Association and a U.S. Naval veteran of the Vietnam War.
Surviving are his wife, Marcia J. Ruth J. McDonald
Veterans benefits counselor for 25 years
Ruth J. Throckmorton McDonald, 84, of Mt. Morris Star Route, Waynesburg, died at 5 a.m. Thursday, January 22, 1998, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
She was born October 6, 1913, in Rogersville, a daughter of Samuel Rees and Alice Crouse Throckmorton.
Mrs. McDonald was a graduate of Waynesburg High School and a 1931 graduate of Penn State College. She was a benefits counselor with the Department of Veterans Affairs, helping veterans, their widows and dependent children. She first worked in the county Veterans Service Office in Imperial County, Calif., in 1950, as an assistant veterans services officer.
In 1960, she moved to Washington, D.C., and began to work for the main office of the Veterans Administration as a veteran benefits counselor for 251/2 years. She worked with veterans who had served in the Spanish-American War, Mexican Border Uprising, World War I, World War II, the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War. She retired December 31, 1985, and then moved to Waynesburg.
Surviving are twin daughters, Jacqueline Camp and Geraldine Hebert both of Waynesburg; five grandchildren, Joy Camp Fordyce, Tammie S. Saario, Trinina Hebert Barreto, Thomas G. Camp and Ethan Throckmorton Camp; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lillian K. Throckmorton of Clearwater Beach, Fla. and Barbara J. Dean of Rogersville; and two nieces.
Deceased are her husband, James E. McDonald, who died July 27, 1977; two sons, James P. and William S. McDonald; and a sister, Helen Throckmorton who died in infancy.

Twardon of Washington; a sister, Heidi Shuba of Washington; four brothers, William Brooks III of Cecil, Eric and David Brooks both of Washington and Jacob Brooks of Pittsburgh; and two grandchildren, Justin Edward and Tonya Nicole Twardon.
Deceased are two brothers and two sisters.
Services and burial will be private.

Doris Manfredi, 66, of Woodland Avenue, Washington, died Thursday, January 22, 1998, in Washington Hospital.
She was born October 13, 1931, in Claysville, daughter of the late Cecil and Mae Tussell Vanderhoof.
Mrs. Manfredi, a homemaker, attended St. Hilary Church, Washington.
She was a graduate of Claysville High School and a member of Washington Senior Citizens.
On Oct. 23, 1971, in St. Hilary Church, Washington, she married Louis A. Manfredi, who survives.
Also surviving are two sisters, Dorothy Vanderhoof of Claysville and Mary Patterson of West Virginia; five brothers, Gene Vanderhoof of Punxatawney, John Vanderhoof of Virginia, Earl Vanderhoof of Knoxville, Tenn., and Paul Vanderhoof and Carl Vanderhoof, both of Claysville.
Deceased is a brother, Ray Vanderhoof.
