Martha J. Ortoski
Former Canonsburg resident lived in Oakmont
Martha J. Ortoski, 81, of Oakmont, formerly of Canonsburg, died Wednesday, December 31, 1997, at home.
She was born June 20, 1916, in Canonsburg, a daughter of Stanley and Hilda Kashmir Korski.
Mrs. Ortoski was a 1934 graduate of Canonsburg High School, a former member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Canonsburg, and a member of St. Irenaus Roman Catholic Church in Oakmont.
In September, 1936, she married Andrew J. Ortoski, who died in 1996.
Surviving are two daughters, Martha J. Shortill of Clearwater, Fla., and Barbara Clark of Owensboro, Ky.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary K. Kmet and Josephine Namit, and a brother, Edward P. Korski, all of Canonsburg.
Deceased are two sisters, Ann E. Wier and Helen Shannon.
Services and interment were private. Memorial contributions may be made to Wheels on Meals of Oakmont.
Frank A. Presutti
Worked for auto dealership in home town
Frank Anthony Presutti, 51, of Slovan, died Sunday, January 4, 1998, in the Greenery Nursing Center, Canonsburg.
He was born December 7, 1946, in Steubenville, Ohio, a son of Margaret Hudson Presutti of Weirton, W.Va., and the late Frank A. Presutti.
Mr. Presutti was employed by P&G Chevrolet-Oldsmobile in Slovan.
He was a U.S. Army Reserve veteran during the Vietnam War.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are two brothers, Robert and Joseph Presutti, both of Burgettstown.
Arthur L. Tustin
Weirton resident was National Steel retiree
Arthur L. Tustin, 87, of Weirton, W.Va., died at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 1998.
He was born March 31, 1910, in Nineveh, a son of Jacob and Cora Ayers Tustin.
Mr. Tustin attended Evangel Baptist Church in Weirton and was retired from the electric machine shop of National Steel Co. in Weirton, where he worked as an assemblyman. He was a member of the 25 Year Club of Weirton Steel Co.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia Craig Tustin; one daughter, Vivian Tustin of Weirton; two sons, Dale Tustin of Paris and Randy Tustin of Weirton; four grandchildren, Patrick Tustin, Shawn Tustin, Scott Tustin and Melissa Martin; three great-grandsons; one stepgrandson; and two sisters.
Deceased are three brothers.
John M. Vaughn
Charter member of Duncan Miller Glass Society
John M. Vaughn, 82, of Crest Vue Drive, Washington, died Sunday, January 4 1998, in Presbyterian Medical Center, Washington.
He was born August 12, 1915, in Washington, a son of James L. and Margaret McClellan Vaughn.
Mr. Vaughn was a lifelong member of Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church and attended Washington grade and high schools.
He was active since childhood with the Washington YMCA, participating in the swimming program and after service in World War II, gave certified Red Cross lifesaving instructions.
Mr. Vaughn was an original member of the Duncan Miller Glass Society, having worked at Duncan Miller Glass for 18 years until its closing. He was then employed by American Brakeshoe Company for 26 years until retirement.
During World War II, he served with the 77th U.S. Army Division, 302nd Engineers in the Pacific Theater.
He was a member of Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion, Syria Shrine of Pittsburgh, Wa Cha Gree Forest No. 149 Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Washington Lodge 164 F&AM, and the Valley of Pittsburgh Consistory.
Mr. Vaughn enjoyed water sports and fishing.
On December 9, 1949, he married Katherine A. Hufford, who survives.
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Mildred Edith Baer
Washington resident born in Ontario
Mildred Edith Baer, 82, of Jefferson Avenue, Washington, died at 3:55 p.m. Sunday, January 4, 1998, at the home of her daughter in Fayetteville, N.C., following a lengthy illness.
She was born July 23, 1915, in Ontario, a daughter of Jacob and Nellie Marie Amos Loar.
Mrs. Baer was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church of Canonsburg.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 22 and past senior regent of the Ladies Auxiliary.
On July 30, 1971, she married Boyd D. Baer, who died November 19, 1995.
Surviving are two sons, Jack Loar of Washington and Curtis Woleslagle of Springfield, Ga.; a daughter, Joyce L. Boatman of Fayetteville, N.C.; a brother, Barney Loar of Ontario; two sisters, Wilma Grechowski of Ontario and Betty Baumgardner of Washington; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Harlon Loar; and a sister, Louise McKenzie.
Ann Berger Barrick
McDonald native
Word has been received of the death of Ann Amelia Berger Barrick, 84, of Lakeland, Fla., formerly of McDonald, who died December 27, 1997, at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness.
She was born February 20, 1913, in McDonald, a daughter of Peter and Amelia Moulton Berger.
Mrs. Barrick attended McDonald area schools.
She was married to William Barrick in 1950, with whom she made her home in Parsons, W.Va., until his death in November 1960.
Following the death of her husband, she became the owner and operator of Barrick Ford Sales of Parsons. During the 1970s she was the manager of Restaurant Concessions at Black Water Falls and Canaan Valley State Parks in West Virginia.
Mrs. Barrick relocated to Lakeland in 1980 and became active in the community at Citrus Woods Estates, serving as treasurer for three years and purchasing agent until March 1997. She was also an auxiliary volunteer at the Lakeland Hospital.
Surviving are a sister, Mary Berger Vincenti of McDonald; a brother, Joseph Berger of Houston; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three brothers, Jules, Simmie and August Bohey; and a sister, Amelia Bohey Berger.
Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley, W.Va., following cremation. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Heritage Public Library in McDonald.
Jule Davis
Former resident of Claysville was homemaker
Jule "Judy" Davis, 83, of Tecumseh Street, Pittsburgh, formerly of Claysville, died unexpectedly Saturday, January 3, 1998, at home.
She was born April 28, 1914, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Pete and Anna Popeck Dugan.
Mrs. Davis was a member of Sacred Heart Worship Site of Immaculate Conception Parish, Claysville.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting and working outdoors.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of James R. Hunt American Legion Post 639 of Claysville.
On April 8, 1955, in Cumberland, Md., she married Wylie "Dude" Davis, who died February 14, 1966.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Conway of Terra Alta, W.Va.; two sisters, Anna Paisley of Pittsburgh and Elizabeth Moore of Kennerdale; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three sisters, Marie Karkalla, Margaret Henning and Pauline Yourick; and a brother, John Dugan.
Minnie Dubloe

Minnie Trenary Dubloe, 83, formerly of Monaca, died Sunday, January 4, 1998, in Beaver Medical Center.
She was born September 2, 1914, in Oakdale, a daughter of William J. and Pauline Kriger Trenary.
Mrs. Dubloe, a homemaker, was also a member of the Presbyterian Church of Monaca.
Her husband of 44 years, John Dubloe, is deceased.
Surviving are a sister, Emma Kochansky of Oakdale; a brother, George Trenary of Burgettstown; and several nieces and nephews.
Jennie Greiner

Jennie Greiner, 100, of Scott Township, died Monday, January 5, 1998, at Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh.
She was born July 3, 1897, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Thomas and Sarah Flood Hayes.
Mrs. Greiner was a former longtime member of St. Norbert Church, Pittsburgh.
She was a homemaker.
She was married to Frank Greiner, who is deceased.
Surviving are three sons, Charles Greiner of Finleyville, Thomas Greiner of Bradenton, Fla., and Paul Greiner of Mt. Lebanon; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Sylvia C. Lewis
Mayview retiree worked for Coast Guard in D.C.
Sylvia C. Jackson Lewis, 70, of Washington Arbors, died Thursday, January 1, 1998, in Washington Hospital.
She was born July 26, 1927, in Canonsburg, a daughter of Reuben and Ica Sherrow Jackson.
Mrs. Lewis was a 30-year resident of Washington, D.C., where she worked for the U.S. Coast Guard Department and retired from Mayview State Hospital as a personnel analyst.
She was a former member of Nazareth Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Michael C. and Napoleon "Rocky" Lewis of Fort Worth, Texas; three sisters, Margaret E. Patterson of Cecil, Nila Mae Pope of Washington and R. Dolores Neely of Detroit, Mich; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation and services were private.
J. Claude Maloy
Former part-owner of Thompson Hardware
J. Claude Maloy, 92, of Washington, died Monday, January 5, 1998, in Humbert Lane Health Care Centre, Washington.
He was born June 24, 1905, in Washington, a son of Richard F. and Blanche Smith Maloy.
Mr. Maloy was part-owner and assistant manager of Thompson Hardware where he worked until his retirement in October of 1991.
He is a graduate of Washington High School and served as auditor for South Franklin Township for several years.
Mr. Maloy was a member and past-president of AARP.
On May 15, 1925, in Cumberland, Md., he married Minnie Iams, who died October 17, 1987.
Surviving are a son, James W. Maloy of Washington; seven grandchildren, Christy and Judy Maloy, Jane Albin, Amy Beth Maloy, James R. Maloy, Shawn Gruber and Crystal Hawk; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a son, Richard W. Maloy; and a sister, Garnet Smith.
Ruth Gladys Mazon

Ruth Gladys Mazon, 81, of Hazelton Street, Pittsburgh, formerly of Washington, died unexpectedly Monday, January 5, 1998, in Allegheny General Hospital's emergency room.
She was born June 29, 1916, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Nelson Burton and Amanda Burkholder Coon.
Mrs. Mazon was a member of Allison Avenue Baptist Church, Washington, and for 10 years was employed at the H. J. Heinz Co., Pittsburgh.
She was senior regent of the Moose in Washington and enjoyed dartball.
On June 23, 1933, she married John William Mazon Sr., who died June 23, 1975.
Surviving are five sons, John W. Mazon Jr., Robert Mazon, David Mazon and Ralph Mazon, all of Washington and Edward Mazon of Youngstown, Ohio; a foster son, Delazon Freier of Washington; three daughters, Edith M. Tate and Virginia Isherwood, both of Pittsburgh and Joyce Watson of Marianna; a sister, Edith Curry of Bakerstown; 28 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a daughter, Shirley Munroe; four brothers, Edward, Nelson, Eugene and Russell Coon; and two sisters, Ethel and Alice Coon.

Pearl Mitko, 79, Burgettstown, died Monday, January 5, 1998, in Washington Hospital.
She was born December 15, 1918, in Harts Creek, W.Va., a daughter of John and Nancy J. Williamson Thompson.
Mrs. Mitko attended Church of the Nazarene in Atlasburg.
Surviving are four sons, David H. Mullins of Upperville, Va., George Mitko of Tampa, Fla., Larry L. Mitko of Oakdale and Ronald Mitko of Land O'Lakes, Fla.; two daughters, Gayle Pritchett of Columbia, S.C., and Debra A. Lonick of Burgettstown; a brother, Robert Thompson of Harts, W.Va.; two sisters, Martha Kemp of Butler and Myrtle Kelly of Ohio; 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are her first husband, Odell Mullins, and her second husband, George Mitko; a son, Charles Mullins, who died July 10, 1994; a brother, Byrd Thompson; and a sister, Shirley Clay.

He was born July 31, 1938, in Point Marion, a son of Andrew Smith and Sadie Smith Miller.
Mr. Smith was a former resident of Cleveland, Ohio, where he retired as a dispatcher for Harry Rock Trucking Co.

Norman W. Theakston
Retired Bentworth bus driver was farmer
Norman W. Theakston, 87, of 21 Frazee Road, Washington, formerly of Scenery Hill R.D.1, died at 4:30 p.m. Monday, January 5, 1998, in Washington County Health Center.
He was born December 6, 1910, in Castile, Washington County, a son of J. Blaine and Lillian Weaver Theakston.,
Mr. Theakston was a member of Scenery Hill United Methodist Church.
He was a lifelong farmer in the North Bethlehem-Scenery Hill area and retired in December 1975, as a bus driver for Bentworth School District after 27 years of service.
Surviving are five daughters, Lillian Orum, Rose McCoy and Jean Adametz, all of Ravenna, Ohio, Mary Lynn of Scenery Hill and Judy Coyle of Washington; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Huffman and Dorothy Brownlee, both of Washington; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are his wife, Mildred Fulton Theakston, who died April 20, 1975; a son, Raymond Theakston; a daughter, Betty Engel; five brothers, William Paul, Brinell, James, Arthur and Donald Theakston; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Ruby Thomas
Charter member of View Crest Presbyterian Church
Word has been received of the death of Ruby Thomas, 84, who died December 31, 1997, in Glendale, Calif., after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease.
She was born on February 26, 1913, in Bishop, a daughter of Robert and Josephine Jukes.
Surviving are her husband of 68 years, John E. Thomas, and a son, Thom Thomas, both of Los Angeles, Calif.
Prior to moving to California in 1988 she lived in the Thomas-Eighty Four area, where she was a charter member of View Crest Presbyterian Church, Eighty Four.

Andrew Balent

Andrew Balent, 94, of 184 Inglewood Way, Greenville, S.C., formerly of 291 Leonard Avenue, Washington, died Thursday, January 1, 1998, in the Oakmont West Nursing Center, Greenville, S.C.
Born November 22, 1903, in Austria, he was a son of Steve and Maria Draganovski Balent.
Mr. Balent, who attended school in Austria, was a member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, Washington.
He was a retired partner in the Washington Meat Market, where he worked for 47 years; was a life member of Washington BPOE Lodge 776, Washington; and a life member of the Royal Order of the Moose.
Mr. Balent was a former member of the board of directors of the Washington Trust Co.; served as a board member for the Salvation Army; was past president for 16 years of the Washington Grocers Association; and a former member and past president of the Washington Parking Authority.
He was an honorary member of the Washington Country Club since 1942 and assisted his wife with the Girl Scouts of America Program in Washington for many years.
On August 2, 1927, in Wellsburg, W.Va., he married Margaret Maslanik, who died July 18, 1990.
Survivng are two sons, Dr. Alvin Balent of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Andrew Balent of Greenville, S.C.; a daughter, Eleanor Balent of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; five sisters, Katherine Kibelbek of Cokeburg, Margaret Petro of Scenery Hill, Bertha Langlotz of Parma, Ohio, Sophie Bonk of Cleveland, Ohio, and Martha Hess of Charleroi; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers and two sisters are deceased.

Louis Bruno
Held various positions with Met Life
Louis Bruno, 98, of Washington, died Tuesday, January 6, 1998, on his birthday at Humbert Lane Health Care Centre of Washington.
He was born January 6, 1900, in Boveno, Italy, and came to America as an infant with his parents, Anthony and Frances Durante Bruno. They settled in Washington, where five generations of Brunos have lived.
Mr. Bruno was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Church, serving as head usher for many years.
On October 17, 1921, he married the former Rose Clara Andreone, who died May 22, 1994.
They lived in Washington until he retired from Met Life in 1959 and moved to Ormond Beach, Fla. They returned to Washington in 1986.
Mr. Bruno held various managerial positions with Met Life, having led the company in sales for both the United States and Canada for 10 consecutive years. Because of his outstanding sales record he was the recipient of many of the companies highest commendations and awards. Until his death he was a member of Met Life Veterans Association and until recently did volunteer work at Humbert Lane Health Care Centre.
Surviving are a son, Robert A. Bruno of Washington; two daughters, Eleanor B. Miller of New Hope and Carolyn B. Comfort of Washington; three sisters, Mary Longo, Elizabeth Glavaris and Catherine Zuckett all of Washington; one brother, Harry Bruno of Bethesda, Md.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two sons, Louis Bruno Jr. and James Bruno; two brothers, Arthur and John Bruno; and one sister, Evelyn Pias.
Cecil W. Ealy
Veteran was member of First Baptist Church
Cecil W. Ealy, 76, of Canonsburg, formerly of South Franklin Township, died unexpectedly, Monday, January 5, 1998, in Canonsburg General Hospital.
He was born April 16, 1921, in Graysville, a son of George and Alma Elliot Ealy.
Mr. Ealy was a member of First Baptist Church, Canonsburg, where he had formerly served as custodian.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1942 to 1946 with the 91st Division, 110th Infantry, and received the Good Conduct Medal, the American Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
He was a custodian at Western Center, Canonsburg, for 21 years until his retirement in September 1986.
He enjoyed working with wood.
On January 12, 1944, he married Mary Elizabeth Lindley, who died February 21, 1984.
On October 25, 1986, he married Rose V. Markle Adkins, who survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Cecil E. Ealy, Richard Ealy and Robert Ealy, all of Washington, and Larry Ealy of Holbrook; a daughter, Mary Lucinda Harrison of Brookville; a sister, Georgia Price of Prosperity; four stepbrothers, Acton Ealy of Des Moines, Iowa, Harold Ealy and Floyd Ealy, both of Graysville and Lloyd Ealy of Claysville; a stepsister, Iona Weaver of Des Moines; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four stepdaughters, Joyce Benney, Rose Hubbard, Nancy Washinski and Barbara Adkins; a stepson, James E. Adkins; 11 stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents and first wife, are his stepmother, Alma Livingood Ealy; four brothers, Wayne W., Willie, James F. and Charles L. Ealy; two sisters, Melza Clutter and Martha Ealy; a son and half sister, both of whom died in infancy; and two grandsons, who died in infancy.
William Hixenbaugh
Former Canonsburg resident dies in Texas
Word has been received of the death of William B. Hixenbaugh Jr., 67, of Killeen, Texas, formerly of Canonsburg, who died Wednesday, December 24, 1997, in the home of his daughter, Brenda J. Uresti of Killeen.
Born August 26, 1930, in Canonsburg, Mr. Hixenbaugh lived most of his life in the Killeen area.
He attended Central Texas College; was a retired sergeant major with the U.S. Army; was a member of the VFW Post 3892 and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 29, both of Harker Heights, Texas; and was a life member of the Bass Anglers Sportsmens Society.
While serving in the military, Mr. Hixenbaugh received numerous medals and honors, including the Good Conduct Medal Sixth Award; the National Defense Service Medal First OLC; the Army Commendation First OLC; the Vietnam Service Medal, Two Campaigns; the Vietnam Campaign Medal; the Combat Infantrymans Badge; the Bronze Star; and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallentry with Palm.
Surviving, in addition to his daughter, are four sons, William R. Hixenbaugh of Palmer, Ala., Andrew L. and David W. Hixenbaugh, both of Kyle, Texas, and Charles E. Turner of Salt Lake City, Utah; a brother, Donald Hixenbaugh of Austin, Texas; a sister, Linda Polewski of Sarasota, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased are both parents; and two brothers, Andrew and Robert F. Hixenbaugh.
Dorothy Shirey Kish
Worked in bake shops for 35 years
Dorothy Shirey Kish, 76, of McDonald, died Sunday, January 4, 1998, at Silver Creek Nursing Home, in San Antonio, Texas.
She was born March 15, 1921, in Ohio, a daughter of James and Lillian Terle Shirey.
Mrs. Kish was a member of Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, McDonald.
She was a bakery assistant for Richie's Bakery in Midway for 25 years and then worked in the bakery at Petrucci's Shop N' Save in Burgettstown for 10 years, retiring in 1985.
Surviving are a daughter, Donna Green of San Antonio; a brother, James Shirey of Montana; two sisters, Betty Openbrower of McDonald and Wilma Rashley of Florida; three grandchildren, Kevin, Jeffrey and Daniel Green; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is her husband, Bert Kish.
Wilma Kordes
Member of Allegheny United Presbyterian Church
Wilma Morgan Kordes, 73, of Leechburg, Allegheny Township, Westmoreland County, died Sunday, January, 4, 1998, in San Antonio Community Hospital in Upland, Calif.
She was born October 22, 1924, in Washington, a daughter of Robert Luther and Alice Dinsmore Morgan.
Mrs. Kordes lived in the area for 30 years and was a member of the Allegheny United Presbyterian Church, Allegheny Township, and was a member and treasurer of the Allegheny United Presbyterian Womens Association, a member of the Eastern Star in Freeport where she was Warder since 1993.
She was also a member of Freeport Senior Citizens, Allegheny Township Golden Agers, Duquesne Commandry Auxiliary of Penn Hills, National Campers & Dancers, Family Campers & RV'ers, the White Shrine of Lower Burrell and the Hillbilly's of the Shrine, Masonic National Camping Travelers, Cederette of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon of Kittanning, and a member of the YMCA of Natrona Heights.
She enjoyed needlepoint, traveling and gardening.
Surviving are her husband, Darl Eugene Kordes; five sons, Martin E. Kordes of Ashburn, Va., Terry L. Kordes of State College, Gary W. Kordes and Karry E. Kordes, both of Natrona Heights and Barry M. Kordes of Leechburg; nine grandchildren; and three brothers, William Morgan and Robert Morgan both of Bridgeville, and Leroy Morgan of Washington.
Deceased is a brother who died in infancy.
Richard A. Mosholder

Richard A. (Dick) Mosholder Sr., 68, of Carmichaels R.D.1, died unexpectedly Monday, January 5, 1998, in Greene County Memorial Hospital, Waynesburg.
He was born September 15, 1929, in Normalville, a son of Dewey and Bertha Walker Mosholder.
He was a 1948 graduate of Jefferson High School and had formerly lived in Mather and Lippencott areas.
Mr. Mosholder was retired from Gateway Coal Co. as a coal miner and an assistant mine foreman. He had formerly worked at Mather Colleries.
Mr. Mosholder was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Waynesburg, where he was a trustee and a deacon. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local 6330 and a former member of the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Company. He enjoyed farming.
On June 28, 1971, he married Judy Kelso Mosholder, who survives.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are four daughters, Patricia Huffman of Carmichaels, Sharon Smithley of Nemacolin, Peggy Taylor of Greensboro and Susan Rogers of Carmichaels; a son, Rick Mosholder of Fort Worth, Texas; a stepson, Wayne Kern of Morgantown, W.Va.; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marcella Basinger and Norma Jean Humble, both of Waynesburg and Elsie Detling of White Oak; and two brothers, Samuel Mosholder of Bellevue, Wash., and Dewey Mosholder Jr. of Swartz Creek, Mich.
Deceased are two brothers, William Mosholder and a brother who died in infancy.
Olive Mae Obney
Bingo player cooked at various local restaurants
Olive Mae Obney, 86, of Charles Street, Washington, died at 4:55 a.m. Tuesday, January 6, 1998, at Washington Hospital following a lengthy illness.
She was born August 14, 1911, at Glyde, a daughter of William Wesley and Hannah Jane Gatts Rodgers.
Mrs. Obney had been a cook and worked in various local restaurants, having last been employed at Barlow's Restaurant and Tavern. For many years, she lived in Redondo Beach, Calif.
She was an avid bingo player and attended West Wylie School.
She was married in 1929 to Lester Allen, who died September 24, 1954.
She later married William Obney, who is deceased.
Surviving are three sons, Robert L., James E. and Jerry W. Allen, all of Washington; two daughters, Betty L. Keener and Norma Jean Young, both of Washington; two brothers, Archie Rodgers of Phoenix, Ariz., and John Rodgers of Florida; three sisters, Gladys Skariot of Washington, with whom she made her home, Dessie Yeager of Washington and Dorothy Virtue of West Virginia; 19 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three sons, Charles, William and Dr. George Allen; two grandchildren, Barbara Jean Carroll and Cindy Lou Keener; two brothers, Everette and Clarence Rodgers; and a sister, Goldie Dempster.
Marian Bakanic Oross
Former manager of White Tower Restaurant
Marian Bakanic Oross, 83, of Canonsburg, formerly of Munhall, died Tuesday, January 6, 1998, in Canonsburg.
She was born May 2, 1914, in Smock, a daughter of John and Susan Bakanic.
Mrs. Oross was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Cathedral, Munhall.
She was the former manager of the White Tower Restaurant in Pittsburgh.
She was married to John Oross, who is deceased.
Surviving are a daughter, Eileen Ann Battistone of Canonsburg; a son, Edward O'Ross of Los Angeles, Calif.; four sisters, Ann Nickolas of Florida, Katherine Shanosky of Munhall, Agnes Katus of Munhall and Florence McKulla of Virginia; a brother, Edward Bakanic of South Carolina; and two grandchildren, Renee Podobnick and Matthew Battistone.
Deceased is one brother, Michael Bakanic.

Margaret Ann Newman Eisenhuth, 83, of Aurora, N.C., died Tuesday, January 6, 1998, at Craven Regional Medical Center, New Bern, N.C., following a two-week illness.
She was born November 22, 1914, in Washington, a daughter of George E. and Caroline L. Behner McGary.
Mrs. Eisenhuth was a homemaker and was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of West Alexander American Legion.
She was married to Foster F. Eisenhuth, who died February 5, 1995.
Surviving are a son, Paul Newman of Aurora; a daughter, Elda Marie Farley of Washington; a brother, George McGary of Washington; two sisters, Betty Bryner and Joann Mrenak, both of Washington; 26 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren;
Deceased are five sons, Glenn, James, Edward, George and William Newman; and two brothers, Robert Lee and Donald W. McGary; and three sisters, Virginia Phillips, Mary Bert and Florence McGary.
Timothy S. Ankrom
Member of Nebo United Methodist Church
Timothy S. Ankrom, 25, of West Finley, died at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, 1998, in Greene County Memorial Hospital, Waynesburg, after being seriously ill the past two weeks.
He was born August 15, 1972, in Washington, a son of Diana Jane Dorwin Ankrom of West Finley and Terrance Lee Ankrom of Ravenna, Ohio.
Mr. Ankrom had lived in Wayne Township all his life prior to moving to Richhill Township in 1990.
He was a member of the Nebo United Methodist Church; attended the Margaret Bell Miller School Intermediate Unit I Class in Waynesburg; and earned a diploma from West Greene High School in 1993.
Surviving are his stepfather, Keith Hillberry of West Finley; a brother, Ryan Keith Hillberry, at home; a sister, Julie Rene Ankrom, at home; maternal grandfather, William D. Corwin of Waynesburg; paternal grandmother, Jean Hartzell Ankrom of Waynesburg; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Deceased are his maternal grandmother, Lana Jane Waycoff Corwin; and his paternal grandfather, Willard Ankrom.
Loretta M. Clutter
Formerly employed at Washington Hospital
Loretta M. "Betty" Clutter, 67, of 307 Saw Hill Road, East Finley Township, formerly of Washington, died at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, January 7, 1998, at home following a lengthy illness.
She was born August 8, 1930, in East Finley Township, a daughter of Thomas and Blanche Sayer Hixenbaugh.
Mrs. Clutter was formerly employed in the housekeeping department of Washington Hospital for 21 years.
She was Baptist and attended the Road Side Chapel, Pleasant Grove.
She was formerly married to Willis S. Clutter.
Surviving are a daughter, Bonnie Darlene Wright of East Finley, with whom she made her home; two sons, Ronald D. Clutter of Washington and Roger L. Clutter of West Finley; two brothers, Kenneth Hixenbaugh of Claysville and Ed Knight of Beaver Falls; four sisters, Marjorie Shape of Prosperity, Shirley Chambers of West Finley, Joann Long and Daisy Wolf, both of Beaver Falls; 10 grandchildren, Roger D., Kevin Bruce, Cory L., Chris, Eric, Ronnie and Leon Clutter and B. Christina, Randy Joe and Paul S. Wright; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are an infant son; three brothers, Thomas, Robert and Donald Hixenbaugh; and a sister, Dorothy Crow.
