Ernest C. Kramer Jr., 67, of McDonald, died April 22, 1998, at Latrobe Area Hospital, Westmoreland.
He was born July 11, 1930, in Buffalo, N.Y., a son of Ernest C. Sr. and Margaret Shearon Kramer.
Mr. Kramer was a retired railroad worker and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald of Carnegie and John of McDonald; a daughter, Lisa Delancey of Ligonier; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Michael of McDonald; and two sisters, Trudy Polen of Burgettstown and Eileen Kophazi of Florida.
A sister, Patty, is deceased.
Services and interment were private.
William R. Martin
Retired from Weirton Steel
William (Bill) Raymond Martin Sr., 64, died Monday, April 27, 1998, at North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C., following a period of declining health.
He was born on January 18, 1934, and had spent his entire life in Paris, Pa., until moving to North Carolina three years ago.
Mr. Martin retired from Weirton Steel Corp. after more than 30 years of service.
On October 13, 1956, he married Betty Jane Dunay Martin, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, William Martin and Darrell Martin, both of Rural Hall, N.C.; two daughters, Teresa Bernola of Burgettstown and Lori Sedlak of Harrisburg; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Katie and Amanda Bernola, Brittany and Kristen Sedlak and Harold and Amanda Cain; a brother, George Martin of California.
An aunt, Marie Drutar lives in Washington, and an uncle, Raymond Martin lives in Canonsburg.
Deceased are his father, Willard Martin; and his grandmother, Elizabeth Martin.
Services were held April 29 in Rural Hall, with the Rev. Judson Milam officiating. Interment followed in Crestview Memorial Park.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Burgettstown, officiated by the Rev. Jack Adams. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the American Lung Association.

Joan V. Rode, 75, of Lawrence Road, Bethel Park, died Wednesday, April 29, 1998, in her home.
Born February 14, 1923, in Presto, she was a daughter of James and Elizabeth Goldbach Quinn.
Mrs. Rode was a retired secretary for the U.S. Department of Energy and was a member of St. Barbara Roman Catholic Church, Presto.
Surviving are a son, Richard F. Rode of Bridgeville; a daughter, Susan R. McLaughlin of Harrisburg; a granddaughter, Cailin E. McLaughlin; and a brother, Patrick R. Quinn of Bridgeville.
Deceased are her husband, Richard F. Rode Jr.; and a brother, James V. Quinn Jr.

William D. Sapp, 60, of Bentleyville, formerly of Strongstown, died at 5:45 a.m. Thursday, April 30, 1998, at Mon Valley Hospital following a lengthy illness.
He was born November 1, 1937, in Hope Hollow, a son of the late Phillip and Marguerite Travis Sapp.
On January 30, 1967, he married Alma Gay McElwee Sapp, who survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Steven and Joseph Sapp, both at home, William J. and Richard Sapp, both of Bentleyville; a daughter, Dianna Sapp Burgan of Bentleyville; 11 brothers, John Sapp of Jefferson, George Sapp of Princeton, W.Va., Bernard Sapp of New Florence, Harry Daniel Sapp of Rices Landing, Ray Ronald "Bud" Sapp Sr. of Bentleyville, Walter, Bobby, Jack, Jimmy, and Mark Sapp all of Point Marion, and Roger Sapp of Brownsville; two sisters, Shirley Sapp Shultz of Finleyville and Iva Lue Sapp Lewellen of Uniontown; seven grandchildren, Travis Jay Sapp, and James Wilbur Burgan Jr., Samantha Jo, Cassandra Lee, Jenny Jolene and Amber Lynn Sapp and Robin Leeann Burgan; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are his stepfather, Willis Sapp; four brothers, Charles, Phillip, Willis and Art Sapp; and three sisters, Etta Pearl Sapp Trumpie, Loretta Madeline and Ellen Josephine Sapp.

Louis E. Templeton Jr., 78, of Indiana Street, Wheeling, W.Va., died Thursday, April 30, 1998, in Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling.
He was born January 21, 1920, in Wheeling, a son of Louis E. Templeton Sr. and H. Laura Prager Templeton.
Mr. Templeton was a retired machinist for the former Blaw-Knox Foundry in Wheeling, retiring after 44 years of service.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Templeton was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Wheeling, a member and past master of Wheeling Lodge 5, AF&AM, the order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, a patron member of the Bridgeport Eagles Aerie 995, a member of the 25 year club of Blaw-Knox Foundry and past treasurer and member of the First English Lutheran Council.
On April 24, 1943, he married Elsie Bertschy Templeton, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Louis E. Templeton III of Hickory; a daughter, Elsie Lou Sell of Wheeling; a sister, Grace Sample of Harlingen, Texas; five grandchildren, Thomas R. and Daniel S. Templeton, Matthew E., Marlena E. and Maressa L. Sell; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a brother, Kenneth A. Templeton.

Walter Zima, 67, of West Newton, died Wednesday, April 29, 1998, at his home.
He was born November 11, 1930, in Monesson, a son of Frank and Yadwiga Zajac Zima.
Mr. Zima was a lifelong farmer and was also employed at Highland Carbide Tool Co. in North Huntingdon.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.
Mr. Zima was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in West Newton, honorary lifetime member of the West Newton Sportsman's Association and West Newton VFW Post 7812 since 1988.
Surviving are his wife, Dolores Oblak Zima; a daughter, Merrie A. Zima; two brothers, Robert "Brownie" Zima of Hutchinson and Joseph Zima of West Newton.
Deceased is a daughter, Valerie Lynn.
George John Filby Sr.

George John Filby Sr., 67, of Jefferson Avenue, Washington, died at 5:15 p.m. Monday, May 11, 1998, in Washington Hospital following a lengthy illness.
He was born August 8, 1930, in Cecil, a son of the late William and Sadie Eckles Filby.
Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a grinder for 25 years at Washington Mould.
During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Korea.
On November 12, 1964, he married Shirley Ann Reeb, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, George John Filby Jr. of Elizabeth, Colo.; a sister, Mary Filby of Washington; and eight nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a sister, Viola Raymer; and a nephew.

George W. Gilmore, 85, formerly of 705 Allison Avenue, Washington, died at 12:45 a.m. Monday, May 11, 1998, in Presbyterian Medical Center, Washington, following a three-year illness.
He was born September 4, 1912, in Washington, a son of Everett R. and Gertrude Cain Gilmore.
Mr. Gilmore was employed as a machine operator at Tygart Valley Glass, later known as Brockway Glass, for 50 years.
He was a member of the Fairhill Manor Christian Church, a member and past master of Sunset Lodge 623 F&AM, Washington Royal Arch Chapter, Washington Council 1, Jacques de Molay Commandrie 3, Keystone Priory 26 Knights of the York Cross of Honor, Wa-Cha-Gree Forest 149 Tall Cedars of Lebanon, member of council of Anointed Kings of the Commonwealth of Pa., Syria Temple, Valley of Pittsburgh Consistory, Gateway to the West Council 5, Knight Masons, and a former member and officer of Ice and Blades Club of Washington.
Mr. Gilmore was 1932 graduate of Washington High School, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 1928, was one of the first in the Washington-Greene County Council of Boy Scouts, and had been active in soap box derby racing.
He also enjoyed the Indy 500 auto races, photography, and traveling.
Surviving are a brother, Gene L. Gilmore of Washington; and four nieces and four nephews.
Deceased are three brothers, Jack Lawrence, Mansel E. and James R. "Bob" Gilmore; and a sister, Ruby M. Gilmore.

Edith M. Hewitt, 79, of Newell, W.Va., formerly of Washington, Leetonia, Ohio, and Lake Worth, Fla., died at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 10, 1998, in her home.
She was born November 18, 1918, in Washington, a daughter of Roy H. and Ocie Thompson Kinnan.
Mrs. Hewitt was a homemaker and while living in Washington attended the First Christian Church.
On February 17, 1941, she married Russell E. Hewitt, who died November 11, 1995.
Surviving are a sister, Virginia Simpson of Avon Park, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth "Libby" M. O'Bryon, 79, of Fulton Road, Canonsburg, died unexpectedly, May 11, 1998, in the emergency room at AUH, Canonsburg.
She was born September 13, 1918, in Canonsburg, a daughter of John G. and Edna Neill Daugherty.
Mrs. O'Bryon was a homemaker and a member of Chartiers Hill United Presbyterian Church. She was a dedicated Sunday school teacher and was devoted to her church. She loved to crochet and do crafts.
Her husband, C. Merle O'Bryon, died October 18, 1989.
Surviving are two sons, Harold O'Bryon of Canonsburg and James O'Bryon of Washington; two daughters, Lorraine Bracewell of Clarkston, Ga., and Mildred Kobertz of Canonsburg; two stepsons, Wayne O'Bryon of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Buck O'Bryon of Hogansville, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Mary Lou Lankford of Hogansville and Peggy Ann Forget of Boynton Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Margaret Spadaro of Canonsburg and Virginia Hecht of Englewood, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Samuel Peter Passantino Jr., 47, of Chapel Hill, N.C., died Saturday, May 9, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
He is a son of Samuel P. and Ruby Vetell Passantino of Washington.
A native of Washington, Mr. Passantino was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and was employed by MCI Communications. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the American Legion Post 6.
Surviving are a son, Samuel Salvatore Passantino of Chapel Hill; two daughters, Katherine and Anna Passantino, both of Chapel Hill; a brother, Paul Passantino of Aliquippa; and a sister, Dolores Neslanik of Fremont, Ohio.
Services will be private and burial is in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

He was born December 25, 1921, in Washington, a son of Joseph E. and Rose Octaviniano Barbella Sr.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Barbella owned and operated Barbella's on South Main Street, Washington.
He was a graduate of East Washington High School, attended St. Vincent's College, was a graduate of St. Louis School of Aeronautics, and he served in the Army Air Force during World War II in the Pacific Theater, where he received the World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal.
On November 7, 1953, he married Elvera Marchione, who died May 11, 1979.
Surviving are a son, Joseph Barbella of Washington; a daughter, Margaret Louise Gibson of Vienna, Ohio; and a sister, Angela Marchione of Washington.
Deceased are two sisters, Margaret Amy Barbella and Elizabeth A. Delsandro; and a brother, Nicholas G. Barbella.

Dolores C. Daugherty, 77, of Washington, died unexpectedly at 2:15 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 1998, in Washington Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born March 4, 1921, in Burgettstown, a daughter of Grover and Goldie May Young Rupert.
Mrs. Daugherty was a homemaker and formerly attended First Christian Church of Claysville and The Lighthouse Church.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles and was a scout master when her sons were young.
On January 12, 1946, she married Thomas Lee Daugherty, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, David L. Daugherty and Gary A. Daugherty, both of Washington; three sisters, Ruby Wenzel of Brooklyn, Ohio, Elsie Thomas of Cleveland, Ohio, and Sarah Galvin of Parma, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Michelle Lea, Alisha, Joshua, Gary A. Mr. Elliott was a member of Amity United Methodist Church for the past 73 years, a member of Amwell Township Volunteer Fire Company and a lifelong resident of Amity before moving to Indiana in 1989.
He was employed by Hazel Atlas Glass Co. for 40 years and was a U. S. Navy veteran.
Surviving are a daughter, Joan B. Elliott of Indiana; a granddaughter, Rachel Beth Elliott of New York, N.Y.; a sister, Ruth Zimmermann of San Francisco, Calif.; and three nieces and a nephew.

Betty Ann Perdreauville Jones, 64, of Carroll Township, Monongahela, formerly of Fourth Street, Monongahela, died Tuesday, May 12, 1998, in Forbes Hospice, East Liberty.
She was born July 24, 1933, in New Orleans, La., a daughter of the late Louis and Una Marie McDonald Perdreauville.
Mrs. Jones was a member of Covenant Christian Church of Belle Vernon and its Women's Fellowship and Tapes Ministry. She also served as church decorator and Sunday school teacher.
She was a student at Mon Valley Bible Institute and a graduate of McNeese College in Lake Charles, La.
Mrs. Jones was employed in advertising specialties as a sales representative for Vernon Company of Newton, Iowa, and was a lieutenant colonel in the Civil Air Patrol and administrative officer at Hawk Mountain Search and Rescue School.
She was active as a Girl Scout leader in the Mon Valley area and was a recipient of the Girl Scouts of America's Gold Award.
Her husband, James W. Jones, died September 20, 1992.

Frances Kline Marchezak, 80, of Bentleyville, died Monday, May 11, 1998, in Presbyterian Medical Center, Washington.
She was born March 1, 1918, in Charleroi, a daughter of George and Anna Mackanos Kline.
Mrs. Marchezak was a member of Ave Maria Church Parish of Bentleyville, and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Dolores 1675 Bentleyville, where she held various offices, the latest as treasurer.
She was also a member of the Pioneer Club, Bentleyville, First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association 111 of Charleroi, a former member of Somerset Community Club, and had served as clerk of the elections board of Somerset Township's second precinct.
She was a 1936 graduate of Charleroi High School and retired in 1943 from Mellon Bank, Charleroi.
On February 22, 1941, she married Steve Marchezak, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Jane Weick of Bay Shore, Long Island, N.Y.; a sister, Marge Owsiany of Canonsburg; and two grandchildren, Elissa A. and Christopher Weick,

Lifelong Greene County resident was seamstress
Laura J. Straight Meek, 72, of Waynesburg R.D.4, died at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 1998, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
She was born March 9, 1926, in Greene County, a daughter of Charles and Dessie Santee Straight.
Mrs. Meek was a lifelong resident of Greene County and worked as a seamstress for Greenway Manufacturing Co., Waynesburg, for 30 years before retiring in 1988.
She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Ruff Creek, and had attended First Baptist Church in Waynesburg.
She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Greene County.
On February 19, 1945, she married Arthur Meek, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Brenda Boyd; and a son, Terry R. Meek, both of Waynesburg; four grandchildren, Terry R. Meek II and Robin, Timothy and Robert Boyd II; two sisters, Betty Tanner of Waynesburg and Ruth Carney of Winter Springs, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Stella M. Simon, 77, of Euclid, Ohio, died Monday, May 11, 1998, in Lake West Hospital, Euclid.
She was born November 26, 1920, in Bentleyville, a daughter of Jack L. and Catherine Romonoff Simon.
Miss Simon was a 1937 graduate of Centerville High School and graduated from Penn Commercial Business School in Washington.
She had resided in Euclid since 1961, where she was employed at the Higby Co. as personal secretary to the president.
Miss Simon was a member of St. Nicholas Russian Old Believers Church in Marianna and enjoyed reading, basketball and track.
Surviving are three sisters, Helen Simon, Irene Simon and Ann Shook, all of Euclid, Ohio; a brother, Nicholas Simon, M.D., of Wynwood; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two brothers, Edward and Emil Simon, who died in infancy; and three sisters, Pauline Molnar, Violet Rodriguez and Martha Jane Pogar.
David Major Bell III
Canonsburg graduate retired from U.S. Navy
David Major Bell III, 50, of Johnstown, and formerly of Canonsburg, died Tuesday, May 12, 1998, in Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital, Johnstown.
He was born July 4, 1947, in Washington, a son of Dr. David M. Jr. and Hazel Wright Bell.
Mr. Bell was Christian.
He was a graduate of Canonsburg High School and served for 21 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring as petty officer first class.
He was a member of VFW Post 155, Johnstown and was a former member of VFW 191 of Canonsburg and American Legion 902 of Houston.
Surviving are two daughters, Jeanne Lynn Bell and Deborah E. Ulmaniec, both of Port Charlotte, Fla.; one son, David Major Bell IV of Johnstown; one grandson, Joshua Ulmaniec; and one sister, Susan Rossero of Canonsburg.
Funeral services and burial in Oak Spring Cemetery will be private. The family suggests memorial contributions to the charity of the donor's choice. Full military rites will be accorded graveside.
William H. Garrettson
Washington native was department store buyer
William H. Garrettson, 77, of Port Huron, Mich., formerly of Washington, died Saturday, May 2, 1998, at his home after a lengthy illness.
He was born January 11, 1921, in Washington, a son of Henry C. and Nellie Petit Garrettson.
Mr. Garrettson was a member of First Baptist Church of Port Huron, serving on the board of deacons for 40 years.
He received his education in Washington, including Washington and Jefferson College, where he received a bachelor of arts degree in business administration. While in Washington, he worked for Montgomery Ward, Sears, Roebuck and Co., and Caldwell Department Store.
Mr. Garrettson was a veteran of World War II in the 8th Air Force, 24th Bomb Group as a pilot of a B-24 Liberator, flying 30 missions over enemy territory for which he received the Distinguished Flying Cross with three Oak Clusters.
On February 12, 1949, in the Methodist Church in Waynesburg, he was married to Alice Green by the Rev. Lewis Johnston.
Mr. Garrettson and his family moved to Port Huron in 1956, where he was a buyer and merchandise manager of the lower level and third floor of J.B. Sperry Co. After three years, he went into business for himself as a manufacturers' representative until his retirement in 1982.
He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing and being with his children and grandchildren.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons, William H. Garrettson II, Timothy C. Garrettson and David A. Garrettson; and eight grandchildren, Lindsey, Travis, Joshua, Jessica, Jennifer, Jason, Jack and Ellen.
Deceased is his twin brother, who died at birth.
Services and interment were held in Port Huron. The family suggests memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church or Blue Water Hospice.

Carol Virginia Hermann, 82, of Ginger Hill, Bentleyville, died Thursday, May 14, 1998, in Havencrest Nursing Home, Carroll Township.
She was born February 26, 1916, in Monongahela, a daughter of William H. and Frances Amalong Weygandt.
A retired nurse's aide, Mrs. Hermann had worked at Western Center, Canonsburg.
She was a member of Edwards Chapel United Methodist Church, Eighty Four, and was a former organist of the church. She was a member of the Monongahela Mothers Club.
Surviving are six sons, Earl L. Hermann of Washington, William F. Hermann of Ginger Hill, Gerald "Tom" Hermann of Tupelo, Miss., Merle J. Hermann of Englewood, Colo., H. Dennis Hermann of Fredericksburg, Va., and G. Jeffrey Hermann of Dunedin, Fla.; three daughters, Kathleen Bowen of Water Valley, Miss., Judith Garbart of McKees Rocks and Jayne Graham of Elrama; 28 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and four brothers, Thomas Weygandt of Monongahela, Merle Weygandt of Winston-Salem, N.C., Jefferson Weygandt of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Ted Weygandt of Felton, Del.
Deceased are her husband, Charles A. Hermann, who died March 2, 1989; and a son, Charles Hermann.

She was born July 9, 1998, in Joffre, a daughter of Nicholas and Bessie E. Pendracky Gratchen.
Mrs. Kuzior was a homemaker.
Surviving are two daughters, Joanne L. Smith of Warren, Ohio, and Barbara J. Brown of (Eldersville) Burgettstown; three sons, Joseph L. Kuzior of Tallmadge, Ohio, Jerry L. Former member of Hickory United Presbyterian Church
Charles E. Martin, 85, of Avella, died at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 1998, in Humbert Lane Health Care Center, Washington.
He was born August 16, 1912, in Rea, a son of William H. and Bessie Carroll Martin.
Mr. Martin worked on his dairy farm in Hopewell Township, and also worked 40 years for the Jessop Steel Corp., retiring in 1972.
He was a former member of the Hickory United Presbyterian Church and a member of the United Steel Workers Local 1030.
On December 26, 1932, he married Nina Powelson, his wife of 65 years, who survives.
Also surviving, are two sons, Donald W. and Charles E. Martin Jr. both of Avella; a daughter, Dolores Jean Molnar of Avella; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Cecelia Lantz of Mechanicsburg.
Deceased are five sisters, Grace M. Miller, Helen Hall, Betty Surace, Hazel Robinson and Marie Foster; one brother, William H. Martin; and two sons, who died in infancy.

She was born December 3, 1913, in Marianna, a daughter of John and Iva Beck.
Mrs. Alexander was a lifelong resident of Marianna, attended the Marianna schools, was a homemaker and a member of Marianna United Methodist Church.
In 1932, she married Michael Alexander, who died in September of 1973.
Surviving are a daughter, Myrna Liberatore of Canonsburg; six grandchildren, Michael Liberatore, Marlene Roach, Lynne Creasy, Scott Alexander, Susan McGroddy and Kristan Bregner-Carlsen; and eight great-grandchildren.

Anna F. Gallagher, 73, of Low Hill Road, Brownsville (Centerville Borough), died at 2:55 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 1998, in Washington Hospital.
She was born July 25, 1924, in Windsor Heights, W.Va., a daughter of Anthony and Mary Gracanin Frankovich.
Mrs. Gallagher was employed by Bethlehem-Center School District for 38 years in food service.
She was proud of years spent working at the Cadillac Plant in Detroit during World War II making aircraft parts.
Mrs. Gallagher was a member of SNPJ Lodge 759 of West Brownsville and the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ann Quinn of Brownsville (Low Hill); two grandchildren, Julian and Jonathan Quinn; a brother Tony Frankovich of Salt Lake City, Utah; and several nieces and nephews.
George G. Hay
Avid traveler retired from Westinghouse Electric
George G. Hay, 88, of Murrysville Road, Trafford, died unexpectedly Thursday, May 14, 1998, at Washington Hospital.
Born April 24, 1910, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of George G. Sr. and Myrtle Gordon Hay.
Mr. Hay, who loved to travel, was employed by Westinghouse Electric for more than 32 years until his retirement.
He was a member of Tyrian Lodge No. 612 F.&A.M., member of A.A.S.R. Consistory, Valley of Pittsburgh, member of Syria Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. of Pittsburgh and a member of McKeesport Caravan No. 4 of Syria Temple A.A.O.N.M.B.
His wife of more than 50 years, Dorothy S. Painter Hay, survives.
Also surviving are a son, Paul G. Hay of Orlando, Fla.; three grandchildren, Kenneth P. Hay, Pamela Jean Newman and Susan Harman; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A brother, Gordon Hay, is deceased.
At the request of the family there will be no public visitation and burial is private. Funeral arrangements are by Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Avenues, Washington.
Walter H. Johnson
Eldersville man formerly of Massachusetts
Walter H. Johnson, 83, of Eldersville, formerly of Norfolk, Mass., died at 11:10 a.m. Friday, May 15, 1998, in the home of his daughter in Eldersville.
He was born May 16, 1998, in Dedham, Mass., a son of Gustave and Alma Erickson Johnson.
Mr. Johnson attended the Central Assembly of God Church in Houston.
He was a retired carpenter and a member of Local 535 of Norwood, Mass.
Surviving are a daughter, Martha I. Johnson of Eldersville; three grandchildren, Linda Giampa of Wretham, Mass., and Eric and Mark Snape, both of Eldersville; and a sister, Elsie Howe of Kennebunkport, Maine.
Deceased are his wife, Lillian Mae Scott Johnson, who died on June 30, 1987; two daughters, Betty Jane Forsberg and Marie Johnson; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Walford H. Johnson.
William B. McClure
Armco machinist was decorated WWII veteran
William Borland McClure, 63, of Henderson Road, Washington, died Friday, May 15, 1998, in Washington Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born November 1, 1934, in Canonsburg, a son of Earl and Hazel Hull McClure.
Mr. McClure was a member of Chartiers Crossroads Presbyterian Church, a graduate of Cecil Township High School and attended Texas Tech.
He was employed as a machinist at Armco in Bridgeville.
Mr. McClure had served in the Korean War in both the Atlantic and Mediterranean areas where he received the National Defense Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
On July 25, 1987, he married Bonnie Faye Briggs Schaub, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Ronald Schaub of Washington; a daughter, Lora Lea Cowden of Avella; two grandchildren, Eric Cowden and Samuel Schaub; three sisters, Alice Chastel of Houston, Lois Meredith of Kingwood, Texas, and Jane Miller of Bay Village, Ohio; 14 nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews.

Robert W. McConnell
Retired from Glen Carbide in Carnegie
Robert W. McConnell, 71, of McDonald, died Friday, May 15, 1998, in St. Clair Memorial Hospital.
He was born September 29, 1926, in Washington County, a son of the late Nellie McConnell.
Mr. McConnell was a shipper at American Steel Band in Heidelberg for 23 years and was employed by Glen Carbide in Carnegie for 20 years, retiring in 1989.
Mr. McConnell was a corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving with the 308th Fighter Squadron, 31st Fighter Group.
On November 6, 1948, he married Catherine R. Snyder, who survives.
A daughter, Donna L. Himmelwright of Houston, also survives.
Earl Wilbert Meeks
Member of undefeated WHS football team
Earl Wilbert Meeks, 91, of Scenic Drive, Washington, died at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 15, 1998, at home. He had been in failing health the past three years.
He was born December 27, 1906, in Washington, a son of Eli and Anna Murray Meeks.
Mr. Meeks was a receiving clerk at Jessop Steel Corp. for 36 years prior to his retirement.
He was Protestant and a 1927 graduate of Washington High School, where he had been coached by Hank Day and was a member of the 1926 undefeated football team.
On June 25, 1928, he married Dessie Anderson, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Wilbur Earl Meeks and Paul Richard Meeks, both of Washington; six grandchildren, Janet Bickus, Rhonda Clark, Dale and Roy Meeks, Debbie Wilson and Sandy McClenathan; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sisters, Bessie Miller and Nellie Barrows.

Daniel Allan Usher, 31, of Waynesburg R.D.4, died Thursday, May 14, 1998, at his home.
He was born August 2, 1966, in Waynesburg, a son of Charles Edward and Essie Ellen Tuttle Lemley of Waynesburg R.D.4.
Mr. Usher lived his entire life in Greene County, was a 1985 graduate of West Greene High School and was a member of Throckmorton United Methodist Church, Waynesburg R.D.4.
He was a crew leader for R. G. Johnson of Washington.
He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family.
On March 2, 1985, he married Shelly Ann Carter, who survives.

Frank J. Bailey, 61, of Old National Pike, Fredericktown, Centerville Borough, died at 11:49 a.m. Monday, May 18, 1998, in Washington Hospital.
He was born June 2, 1936, in Daisytown, a son of the late Frank J. Bailey Sr. and Elizabeth Varner Bailey.
Mr. Bailey was Catholic and attended East Bethlehem Township High School.
He retired in 1995 as a miner from I-Tec Corporation at Clyde Mine, Fredericktown, and was a member UMWA Local 688 of Fredericktown.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and a member Hancock-McCune-Horne American Legion Post 705 of Centerville.
On November 19, 1977, he married Mariann Shutak, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Frank J. Bailey III of Fredericktown; two grandsons, Frank J. Bailey IV and Ryan Jonathan Bailey; a sister, Mariann Ricco of Brownsville; a stepson, Harold Deal of Cleveland, Ohio; a niece and two nephews.

Myra "Jackie" Barnish, 54, of Salt Lake City, Utah, died May 1, 1998, in Salt Lake City.
She was born November 27, 1944, in Kansas City, Kan., a daughter of the late Jewell and Myra Faye Cook Abernathy.
Mrs. Barnish was a guide at Hogle Zoo, where she enjoyed working with animals.
On May 27, 1967, in Elko, Nev., she married John Charles Barnish, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Stephen R. and Rich Barnish; and a granddaughter, Maggie Barnish, all of Salt Lake City.
Services were held on May 4, 1998, in Salt Lake City.

Mary Coaches Bobnick, 85, of Cecil, formerly of McMurray, died Sunday, May 17, 1998, in UPMC-Shadyside, Pittsburgh.
She was born August 6, 1912, in Mt. Pleasant, a daughter of Michael and Mary Kaminsky Coaches.
She retired in 1977, after 20 years as a statement clerk in the downtown Pittsburgh office of Pittsburgh National Bank.
Mrs. Bobnick was a homemaker and enjoyed acquiring antiques of all kinds.
Surviving are her husband, Frank Bobnick; two daughters, Mary Louise Pastor of Lawrence and Jacqueline Bobnick of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Elizabeth Drexler; and a brother, James Coaches.
Deceased is a sister, Margaret Coaches.

Ann L. Fonner

Ann L. Fonner, 74, of Victoria Street, Washington, died Sunday, May 17, 1998, at her residence following a brief illness.
She was born February 8, 1924, in Washington County, a daughter of Frank and Ursula Ceatic Lestan.
A 1942 graduate of Trinity High School, Mrs. Fonner had been employed by the Washington School District for many years.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Christian Mothers for many years.
Mrs. Fonner enjoyed bowling with both the Nemacolin Bowling League and the Senior Citizens Bowling League. She also enjoyed being a seamstress as her hobby.
On February 5, 1950, in St. Hilary Church, Washington, she married Francis G. Fonner of Washington.
Surviving are two daughters, Donna Patrina of Washington and Mary Ann Goode of Williamsburg, Va.; four sisters, Zella Walker of Florida, and Frances Sisul, Dorothy Caffrey and Margaret Bebout, all of Washington; four grandchildren, Steven Amon, DeAnna Ritz, Christopher Goode and Ann Goode; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a brother, Michael Lestan; and two sisters, Stephana Keener and Mary McCloskey.

Patricia C. Harmon, 61, of Wadestown, W.Va., died Sunday, May 17, 1998, at the home of her daughter, Denese Conaway, following a lengthy illness.
She was born August 15, 1936, in Morris Township, a daughter of Alberta L. Bamberger Hurley of Wadestown and the late Michael William Hurley.
Mrs. Harmon was a homemaker and was affiliated with Bula Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are three daughters, Denese Conaway of Wadestown, Lisa Huffine of California and Yvonne Harmon of Smithfield; two sons, Michael Harmon of Smithfield and John Harmon of Ten Mile; a stepson, Willard Harmon of Jefferson; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was born January 26, 1930, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, a son of the late John and Vera Brandt Hillier and the stepson of the late William Burney.
Surviving are his wife, Winnifred M. Cater Hillier; two sons, Wayne Hillier of Washington and Richard Hillier of Duncan, British Columbia, Canada; a daughter, Wendy Handy of Melbourne Beach, Fla.; a brother, Donald Burney; and a sister, Valerie Bryce, both of Hamilton, Ontario.
Walter McClelland Jr.

Walter S. McClelland Jr., 92, of Bradenton, Fla., died Sunday, May 17, 1998, at Blake Medical Center.
He was born in Canonsburg and moved to Manatee County in Florida in 1970.
Mr. McClelland was an insurance salesman for Kemper Insurance Co. and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was a lifetime member of Canonsburg Masonic Lodge 297 and a 32nd degree mason.
Surviving are his wife, Audrey of Bradenton, Fla.; a daughter, Barbara Ann Smith of Greenville, S.C.; a son, Walter "Bud" McClelland of Panama City, Fla.; a brother, John L. McClelland of Houston; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
