Mary Helen Gullick, 80, a former resident of McMurray, died Friday, July 14, 2000, in Kade Nursing Home, Washington, following a lengthy illness.
She was born April 7, 1920, in Carbon Hill, Ala.
Surviving are one brother, Dewey Robbins of Sheffield, Ala.; one sister, Vena Snyder of New Orleans, La.; six children, Mary E. Beall of York Beach, Maine, Cecilia A. Hunter of Bonny Doon, Calif., Peggy Sue Richards of Georgia, Paul R. Gullick Jr. of Warner Robbins, Ga., William R. Gullick of Salinas, Calif., and Danny Thomas Gullick of Rogers, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren .
Deceased are her husband, Paul R. Gullick Sr.; and a son, Dewey R. Gullick.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation or services. Arrangements are being made by William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.
Virginia B. Hamilton
Former Washington resident
Virginia B. Hamilton, 85, formerly of Washington, died Thursday, July 13, 2000, in Liberty, Mo.
She was born April 7, 1915, in Ford, Va., a daughter of Walter A. and Etta Vorhees Bridges.
Mrs. Hamilton graduated from Trinity High School and attended Ohio University.
She was a homemaker.
Her husband, Oliver "Ham" Hamilton, died in September 1992.
Surviving are a son, Robert J. Hamilton of Kansas City, Mo.; two granddaughters, Crystal Hamilton-Bowman and Debra L. Dungan; and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Edward Bridges; and a sister, Ruth Levering.
Interment will be held in Washington Cemetery. Piatt & Barnhill Funeral Directors Inc., 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, are in charge of arrangements.
Ralph L. Hoge
First Christian Church member was WWII vet
Ralph L. Hoge, 86, of Waynesburg, died at 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 14, 2000, in Greene County Memorial Hospital.
He was born August 13, 1913, in Waynesburg, a son of William McKinley and Mary Louella Mitchell Hoge.
Mr. Hoge was a member of First Christian Church of Waynesburg, where he was an elder and a Sunday school teacher. He sang in the church choir and in the Greene County choir. He also was the custodian of the church for 25 years.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Hoge worked more than 50 years for Electrolux Sweepers. During that time, he also drove a truck for Hoge's Bakery.
On April 10, 1955, he married Mary Kerr Hoge, who died August 28, 1985.
Surviving are two daughters, Cindy Faulk of Washington and Susie Cappellini of Morgantown, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Erin Elizabeth Faulk, Christopher Daniel Faulk, Brian Phillip Cappellini and Eric Paul Cappellini; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are four sisters, Aldine Meader, Virginia Scott, Thelma Baxter and Mildred Brigaman; and a brother, Kenneth Hoge.
Mr. Hoge was the last of his immediate family.

Vietnam veteran worked for AT&T Cable
John H. Holmes, 56, of Blythe Road, Charleroi, formerly of Monongahela, died Sunday, July 16, 2000, in Allegheny General Hospital.
He was born October 4, 1943, in Monongahela, a son of Florence White Holmes of Monongahela and the late Wendell R. Holmes.
Mr. Holmes was Protestant.
He was a 1961 graduate of Monongahela High School.
Mr. Holmes was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, serving as a Morse intercept operator in Alaska.
At the time of his death, he was employed by AT&T Cable, Corrliss office, in Pittsburgh, and was formerly employed at Allegheny General Hospital's Continuing Care Center.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife of 32 years, Cheryl Bakori Holmes; a daughter, Hilary Brown of Laramie, Wyo.; a son, Jordon R. Holmes, at home; four sisters, Patricia Stevenson of Bethlehem, Shirley Girard of Charleroi, Virginia McDonough of Oil City and Suzanne Roehlich of Forest Hills; one brother, Wendell R. Holmes Jr. of Irwin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Deceased is one brother, G. Richard Holmes.

Laura S. Katruska, 76, of Fredericktown, died at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2000, in the home of her son, Joseph S. Katruska of Waynesburg.
She was born April 30, 1924, in Vestaburg, a daughter of Joseph S. and Stella A. Sikorski Kowalczyk.
She was a member of the Parish of St. Oliver Plunkett.
Mrs. Katruska resided in Fredericktown all of her life and was devoted to her family.
On June 3, 1944, she married Joe Katruska, who died June 28, 1989.
Surviving are two sons, Joseph S. Katruska of Waynesburg and Thomas S. Katruska of Richeyville; seven grandchildren, Pamela Ann, Joseph, Jeffrey, Joshua, Kellie, Kristin and Kimberly Katruska; one brother, Thomas Kowalczyk of Fredericktown; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are five brothers, Chester, Alexander, Walter, Joseph and Stanley Kowalczyk; and one sister, Helen Hagyari.
Mary E. Kinsell

Mary E. Kinsell, 78, of Reesman's Mobile Park, Morgan Township, formerly of Waynesburg and Clarksville, died at 3:45 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2000, in her home.
She was born June 11, 1922, in Grindstone, a daughter of Thomas and Margaret McCune McKnight.
Mrs. Kinsell was active at one time in Missionary Church at Clarksville and enjoyed craft work.
On November 3, 1946, she married Earl G. Kinsell, who died June 10, 2000.
Surviving are a son, David E. Kinsell of Newport, N.C.; two grandchildren, Matthew Kinsell and Lori Kinsell; two stepgrandchildren, David Zack Jr. and Brian Zack; a sister, Beatrice Newhouse of Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two brothers, Thomas Jr. and David McKnight.
Frank W. Kisella

Frank W. Kisella, 80, of Canonsburg, died at 11:16 a.m. Sunday, July 16, 2000, in Canonsburg General Hospital.
He was born December 3, 1919, in Meadow Lands, a son of Charles and Anna Getzek Kisella.
Mr. Kisella was a member of St. Titus Roman Catholic Church of Canonsburg. He was very active in the Senior Citizens Center in Canonsburg and also was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 861 in Canonsburg.
Mr. Kisella was a steelworker with U.S. Steel Corp. of Pittsburgh for 30 years.
He enjoyed bowling, watching sports on TV and shooting pool. He also enjoyed cooking, gardening and was an avid reader.
On June 21, 1991, he married Catherine Johns, who survives.
Also surviving are a stepson, Ronald J. Hunter of Canonsburg; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are five sisters, Mary Moscovic, Bertha Mitchell, Rose McCollum, Katherine Zaccone and Dorothy Cushman.
He was the last of his immediate family.
Mona M. Klinzing

Mona M. Klinzing, 87, of Canton Township, died at 2:45 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2000, in Kade Nursing Home, Washington, following a lengthy illness.
She was born April 2, 1913, in Hopewell Township, a daughter of Charles O. and Nellie Gertrude Steel Mahanna.
Mrs. Klinzing was a clerk at the former G.C. Murphy store in Washington.
She was a member of Friendship Community Church, where she had been a Sunday school teacher. She formerly had been active as a volunteer for the American Heart Association.
Surviving are a son, William M. Klinzing Jr. of Winston-Salem, N.C.; two daughters, Shirley K. Barlow and Phyllis A. Brooks, both of Washington; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are her husband, William M. "Buck" Klinzing, who died June 30, 1981; and five brothers, Donald, Paul, Kenneth, Dane and Charles O. Mahanna.
Scott W. McAdoo
McGuffey graduate was avid golfer
Scott W. McAdoo, 33, of Washington, died at 1:10 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2000, from injuries received in an automobile accident.
He was born May 1, 1967, in Washington, a son of William Ross and Susan Ann Malone McAdoo of Claysville.
Mr. McAdoo was a resident of the Claysville and Washington areas all his life.
He was a 1985 graduate of McGuffey High School and attended West Liberty State College.
Mr. McAdoo was Protestant.
He had been employed as a laborer for Allegheny Technology (formerly Jessop Steel Corp.) in Washington for the past 12 years.
Mr. McAdoo was an avid and exceptional golfer and was a member of Greene County Country Club, an original member of the Pavella Cup golf team representing Greene County, participated in several amateur golf events in the tri-state area and had won several club championships at Double Dam Golf Course in Claysville.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Pamela Jo Clutter McAdoo, whom he married September 17, 1988; a daughter, Mariah McAdoo; a son, Bailey Scott McAdoo; a sister, Melissa King of West Finley R.D.2; and his paternal grandmother, Edith Doman McAdoo of West Alexander.
Deceased are his maternal grandparents, George Malone and Dolores (Fuzzy) Dorsey Malone McAllister; a stepgrandfather, Paul McAllister; and his paternal grandfather, Albert E. (Bill) McAdoo.

Mary Gladyce Morrow, 80, of Claysville, formerly of Meadow Lands, died at 2:10 a.m. Thursday, July 13, 2000, in Anderson's Personal Care Home, Claysville, after a lengthy illness.
She was born November 30, 1919, in Pleasant Grove, a daughter of John A. and Ina Goldie Johnson Bell.
Mrs. Morrow was a homemaker and loved to cook. She was a member of United Presbyterian Church in Taylorstown and attended Taylorstown High School.
On August 21, 1941, she married Harland C. Morrow, who is deceased.
Surviving are a brother, John Bell of Washington; a sister, Peggy Shook of Claysville; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a brother, Harry Bell.
At the request of the family, there will be no public visitation. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Louise F. Myers, 86, of McDonald, died Saturday, July 15, 2000.
She was born September 13, 1913, in McDonald, a daughter of Louis and Marie Catrain Pierson.
She was a homemaker and a deacon of Calvary Presbyterian Church.
On December 7, 1935, she married Charles I. Myers, who died June 28, 1963.
Surviving are a son, Charles P. Myers; a daughter, Patricia L. Sember; a sister, Adolphine Hershberger; three grandchildren, Mark Sember, Michele Leipold and Dana Eyler; and eight great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers, Joseph, Louis and Fernal Pierson.
Francis Patrick Nairn
54-year member of Scenery Hill Lions Club
Francis Patrick Nairn, 83, of 20 Oak Circle, Ellsworth, died at 10:43 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2000, in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born August 21, 1916, in Houston, a son of Patrick Francis and Brigid L. Nelson Nairn.
Mr. Nairn graduated from St. Francis of Lorretta College in 1939.
He was a member of Pigeon Creek Sanitary Authority, where he served as chairman and vice chairman.
Mr. Nairn was a 54-year member of Scenery Hill Lions Club, where he had perfect attendance. He served as the club president in 1955-56 and 1982-83, and held all other offices at one point of his membership. He also was the treasurer. He published the club newsletter for the length of his membership and was the recipient of the Melvin Jones Award. On January 21, 1995, he received the Pennsylvania Counsellors Distinguished Service Award in Lionism.
Mr. Nairn was employed by Bethlehem Mine Corp. in Ellsworth as their chief accountant for 39 1/2 years, retiring in 1979.
He was active in Ellsworth Boy Scout Troop 117 from 1958 to 1961. During that time, 14 boys received their Eagle Scout awards.
Mr. Nairn was a member of Ave Maria Parish, where he served as a church usher and on the parish council for many years.
He was awarded a semifinalist seal in the North American Amateur photography contest, was the accountant for Zoise Baeur Dance Studio and served as historian for the Ellsworth Diamond Jubilee in 1975.
Surviving are his wife, Gladys Hails Nairn, whom he married January 1, 1943; one son, James Francis Nairn of Fairfield, Iowa; one daughter, Eileen Cheryl Robinson of Indianapolis, Ind.; three grandchildren, Heather Lynne Nairn, Benjamin Michael Robinson and Sheri Lynn Robinson; four sisters, Anne Ferrick of New Kensington, Catherine Sweeney of Fortuna, Calif., Marilyn Koski of Sacramento, Calif., and Dorothy Witt of Tucson, Ariz.; and two brothers, Regis Nairn of Pittsburgh and Edward Nairn of Ann Arbor, Mich.
Deceased are two brothers, John and Warren Nairn ; and two sisters, Phyllis Quinn and Patricia Sweeney.
Andrew R. Orlosky

Andrew R. Orlosky, 86, of Carmichaels, died Saturday, July 15, 2000, in Brownsville General Hospital.
He was born February 9, 1914, in Oliver, a son of Andrew Martin and Catherine Janecko Orlosky.
Mr. Orlosky had worked for 46 years as a coal miner at Nemacolin Mine.
He was a member of St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church in Carmichaels, UMWA Local 6290 and Jednota Lodge.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Orlosky of Fairfax Station, Va., and William Orlosky of Aberdeen, Md.; one stepson, John Helmick of Payson, Ariz.; two stepdaughters, Peggy Dick of Lititz and Jackie Shoemaker of Trenton, Mich.; one brother, Edward Orlosky of Euclid, Ohio; three sisters, Mary Ringer and Helen Kormanik, both of Nemacolin, and Marguerite Urbany of Washington; two grandsons, Robert and Greg Orlosky; and 10 stepgrandchildren.
Deceased are his first wife, Helen G. Orlosky, who died in 1960; his second wife, Kathalea Orlosky, who died May 3, 2000; and three brothers, George, Mike and Frank Orlosky.
Twila L. Reynier

Twila L. Dawson Reynier, 69, of 530 Tanneyhill Street, Canonsburg, formerly of Eighty Four, died Sunday, July 16, 2000, in McMurray Hills Manor Home from complications following a cerebral hemorrhage.
She was born October 3, 1930, in Mt. Pleasant Township, a daughter of Joseph and Stella Bowland Dawson.
Mrs. Reynier graduated from Hickory High School in 1948. She had been employed by Washington County Health Center as a licensed practical nurse from 1982 until her retirement in 1992. Previously, she was employed at Mayview State Hospital as a psychiatric aide from 1960 until 1981.
She was a member of Christian Bible Fellowship in Canonsburg.
On August 26, 1952, she married Eugene A. Reynier, who died September 1, 1986.
Surviving are three daughters, Marie "Cookie" DeMarco of Glenmoore, Eugenia Nestor of Canonsburg and Jacqueline Hanus of Eighty Four; a son, Charles Reynier of Washington; three brothers, Joseph Dawson of Imperial, Richard Dawson of Houston and Frank Dawson of Hendersonville; three sisters, Catherine Nesic of Meadow Lands, and Sarah Kosharsky and Bertha Smith, both of Houston; six grandchildren, Valerie DeMarco, Nicole Kraf Vanderlee, Micah Kraf, Jenee Reynier, and Zachary and Jake Hanus; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two sisters, Martha Cornell, who died in December 1998, and Stella Dawson, who died in infancy.
Peter Roman
Lifelong resident of Monongahela
Peter Roman, 77, of Second Street, Monongahela, died Friday, July 14, 2000, in Monongahela Valley Hospital.
He was born October 10, 1922, in Gallatin, a son of Andrew and Annie Fransko Roman.
Mr. Roman was a lifelong resident of Monongahela, where he was a member of American Legion Veterans of Foreign Wars and Italian Citizens Club Bowling League.
He served in the U.S. Navy on submarines during World War II.
Mr. Roman retired from U.S. Steel Irvin Works in 1982 and formerly worked in Donora and Fairless Hills.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Diana Affinito Roman; four sons, Andrew Vincent of South Park, Ronald R. at home, Peter of Monongahela and Michael Roman of Lake Tahoe, Nev.; four grandchildren, Jason, Rhiannon, Dylan and Kirsten Roman; two brothers, John Roman of Maryland and Alexander Roman of Fairless Hills; and three sisters, Pearl Roman of Montgomery, Ala., and Ann Kelly and Jean Sickman, both of Monongahela.
Deceased are two brothers, Andrew and Homer Roman; and three sisters, Mary Olsylk, Marge Lyons and Helen Roman.
Joseph Rosenberg
World War II veteran formerly of Washington
Joseph Rosenberg, 88, of West 13th Street, Ashtabula, Ohio, died Saturday, July 15, 2000, in Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born December 10, 1911, in Washington, a son of Solomon and Sarah Whirft Rosenberg, and had been an Ashtabula resident since 1991.
Until 1991, Mr. Rosenberg lived in Washington, where he operated a clothing business prior to his retirement.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Philippines during World War II.
Mr. Rosenberg enjoyed golf and Pittsburgh Steelers football.
On February 11, 1991, he married Carolyn Jean Avery Rosenberg, who survives.
Also surviving are two stepdaughters, Sandra Solomon and Alice Post, both of Ashtabula; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lillian Garfunkel of New Hampshire.
Deceased are two sisters, Bertha and Ella; and three brothers, Clarence, Simon and Lewis.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 16, in Beth Israel Cemetery, Washington, with Rabbi Russell Fox of Beth Israel Congregation officiating. Funeral arrangements are being made by Ducro Funeral Home, Ashtabula. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Donald E. Sadler
U.S. Air Force veteran
Donald E. "Sack" Sadler, 61, of Washington, died Friday, July 14, 2000, in Washington Hospital, following a brief illness.
He was born July 13, 1939, in Washington, a son of Virginia Sadler of Washington and the late William W. Sadler.
He attended Washington High School and served in the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed horse racing.
Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Donna M. Sadler; four sons, Curtis, Ivan, Warren and Sidney Sadler, all of Washington; one brother, Wilbur Sadler of Washington; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Albert R. Zimmerman
Florida resident born near Waynesburg
Albert R. Zimmerman, 85, of Vero Beach, Fla., died Thursday, July 13, 2000, in Clare Bridge Cottage after a prolonged illness.
He was born February 1, 1915, near Waynesburg, a son of R. James and Eliza M. Zimmerman.
Mr. Zimmerman moved to Florida in 1966, was a longtime resident of Naples, Fla., and moved to Vero Beach in 1995.
He was a a U.S. Navy World War II veteran and a member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of American for 62 years.
Mr. Zimmerman was a member of Kings Baptist Church of Vero Beach.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Lena Zimmerman; a son, Albert Zimmerman Jr. of Lancaster, Calif.; a daughter, Sara Eikleberry of Columbus, Ohio; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a nephew.
Services and entombment will be held Saturday in Fort Pierce, Fla. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rejoice, Arise and Build program of Kings Baptist Church, 3235 58th Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32966.

Ralph Edwin Campbell Jr., 49, of Bulger, died Friday, June 30, 2000, in his home.
He was born August 19, 1950, in Midway, a son of Alverta Stewart Campbell of Clinton and the late Ralph Campbell Sr.
Mr. Campbell graduated from Fort Cherry High School and was a millworker at Climax Molybdenum.
On October 7, 1972, he married Sharon Holmes, who survives.
Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are a son, Brant Edwin Campbell of Bulger; a daughter, Angela Lynn Shaffer of Bulger; two sisters, Anna Black of Midway and Alice Reese of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Matthew Paul and Brianne Nicole Shaffer.
Robert C. Cummins
Construction worker served in Korea
Robert C. Cummins, 69, of 60 South Main Street, Washington, died at 3:53 a.m. Friday, June 30, 2000, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a brief illness.
He was born August 11, 1930, in Washington, a son of Arthur and Ethel Carpenter Cummins.
Mr. Cummins was a construction worker who was employed by various home remodelers. He owned a construction business for a short time and was formerly employed as a truck driver.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, receiving a Distinguished Service Cross and two Purple Hearts for injuries he received.
On May 29, 1974, he married Florence McGary Elliott, who survives.
Also surviving are five sons, Charles Elliott of Washington, James Elliott of Houston and John, Scott and Donnie Pickett, all of the state of Indiana; four daughters, Kathleen Capo and Creta Lee Elliott, both of Washington, and Renee Austin and Ann Valesquez, both of Fayetteville, N.C.; a brother, Charles Cummins of Claysville; seven sisters, Frances Lytton, Mona Lesnock, Shirley Phillips and Mary Pettit, all of Washington, and Dorothy Clutter, Betty Sprowls and Judith McDonough, all of Claysville; 22 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Barbara Crawford; a brother, James Cummins; and a sister, Maureen Main.
Charles W. Geho
Retired National City Bank manager
Charles W. Geho, 65, of Park Avenue, Washington, died Friday, June 30, 2000, in Washington Hospital.
He was born May 14, 1935, in Pittsburgh, a son of Charles L. and Goldie Grim Geho.
Mr. Geho grew up in New Freeport and was a 1953 graduate of Waynesburg High School and a graduate of Penn Commercial.
He was employed as manager at National City Bank, retiring in January 1998.
Mr. Geho served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves.
He was a member of Greater Canonsburg Lions Club, Greater Canonsburg Industrial Development, BPOE 776, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 22, North Franklin Volunteer Fire Department and Covered Bridge Antique Car Club, both for which he served as treasurer.
On June 21, 1971, married Linda Childs, who survives.
Also surviving is a son, Charles Brian Geho at home.
Chauncy King Lively
Fly-tying columnist from Waynesburg
A memorial service for Chauncy King Lively, who died February 25, 2000, was held Friday, June 23, in Christ United Methodist Church, Bethel Park.
Mr. Lively was born in Charleroi and grew up in Waynesburg, a son of Dr. Chauncy C. and Grave King Lively.
He was a 1941 graduate of Waynesburg College, where he directed the dance band, Kay Lively, His Trombone and Orchestra. He went on tour with the nationally known big band, Larry Funk Band.
During World War II, Mr. Lively was a master sergeant and directed the 241st Army Ground Force Band while stationed in Texas. When he returned to civilian life, he joined KDKA in Pittsburgh as music arranger for live radio and television broadcasts.
He later joined Fred L. Aiken Associates mortgage lending company, and for many years was a member of Mortgage Banking Association, where he served as president.
Mr. Lively was known for his regular fly-tying column in The Pennsylvania Angler. His book, "Chauncy Lively's Fly Box," underwent two printings, and he was featured in the book, "The Art of the Trout Fly." His innovative flies, created from an underwater perspective of natural and man-made materials, are in private and museum collections.
Upon retirement, Mr. Lively and his wife moved to Grayling, Mich., to pursue their interest in trout fishing.
On January 12, 1943, he married Marion Aiken of Green Tree, who died in April 1995.

Glenn Ellsworth "Irish" McKay, 87, of Jefferson Avenue, Washington, died at 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2000, in Manor Care Nursing Home, McMurray, following a lengthy illness.
He was born December 3, 1912, in New Kensington, a son of Charles and Mae Sharer McKay.
Mr. McKay was a member of Third United Presbyterian Church for 54 years and played dartball for the church as long as his health permitted.
He attended Washington schools.
Mr. McKay was employed by Country Belle Dairy for many years and was last employed by Industrial Gasket for nine years prior to retirement.
He was active with Little League baseball and was an umpire.
On February 2, 1938, he married Jessie Margaret Craig, who died February 25, 1987.
Surviving are a son, John A. McKay of Shamokin; a daughter, Judith Ann Dobscha of Washington; two sisters, Norma Jean Woodburn of Richmond, Ohio, and Thelma Earley of Washington; two grandchildren, Ronald Neil and Lauri Lynn; and six great-granddaughters.
Deceased is a brother, Morgan Charles McKay.

June Rose Safran, 68, of 36 Old Hickory Ridge Road, Washington, died at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, June 29, 2000, in Washington County Health Center, Washington, after a lengthy illness.
She was born February 12, 1932, in Turtle Creek, a daughter of Robert and Emily Grace Jackson Weir.
Mrs. Safran was a pharmacy cashier for several years.
She was Protestant.
Surviving are a son, Clyde Phelps of Pittsburgh.
Mrs. Safran was the last of her immediate family.
Burial will be private, with arrangements being handled by Hummell and Barnhill Memorial Chapel Inc., Washington.
Frank Walter Tender
Worked 39 years for Marianna Mine
Frank Walter Tender, 81, of North Main Street, Washington, died at 2:13 a.m. Friday, June 30, 2000, in Presbyterian Medical Center, Washington, after a lengthy illness.
He was born September 17, 1918, in Avella, a son of Thomas and Louise Skorn Tender.
Mr. Tender was a member of St. Hilary Church.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was employed as a coal miner for 39 years at Marianna Mine.
He was a member of Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175 of Washington, Polish National American Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars in Houston, Senior Citizens of Washington and Retired Persons of Washington County.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
His first wife, Josephine Jackson, died in 1954. On June 30, 1956, he married Anne Skeryo, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Francis W. Tender of Hebron, Ohio, and John T. Tender of Washington; a daughter, Diane J. Cox of Washington; three grandchildren, Floyd Thompson and Anthony and Alyssa Cox; a brother, Tom Tender of Strasburg, Ohio; three sisters, Jennie Buchek of Hickory, Bertha Yurkovich of Prosperity and Dorothy Pietrowski of Cherry Valley; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a brother, Vincent Tender; and two sisters, Helen Wargo and Sophia Lynn.
Robert Keron
Pizza shop owner was WWII veteran
Robert "Rowboat" Keron, 75, of Woodland Avenue, Washington, died at 7 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2000, in Canonsburg Hospital.
He was born April 2, 1925, in Washington, a son of Andrew and Lucy Malik Keron.
Mr. Keron was owner of Rowboat's Pizza Shop, Washington, and formerly worked at Duncan Miller Glass.
He was Catholic and a member of Slovak Club and Polish Club.
Mr. Keron was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He received a Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, American Campaign Medal and World War II Victory Medal.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews; a brother, Rudolph (Rudy) Keron of Washington; four sisters, Mary Slavikosky of Gainesville, Fla., Margaret Williams of Canonsburg and Mildred Strnisha and Josephine Roupe, both of Washington.
Deceased are three brothers, Joe, John "Shoes" and Steve "Hambone" Keron; and a sister, Anna Keron.
Ella Mae Roseberry

Ella Mae Roseberry, 66, of Burgettstown, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000, in Trinity West Hospital, Steubenville, Ohio.
She was born December 28, 1933, in Frances Mine, a daughter of Lewis and Nettie Harshey Orison.
Surviving are a daughter, Roxanne Roseberry of Steubenville; two grandchildren, Jessica and David Roseberry; four sisters, Esther Williams of Langeloth, Jenny Ankley of Washington, Elsie Boyer of Slovan and Minnie Hoberek of Joffre; three brothers, Joseph Nayock of Greensburg, Lewis Orison of Langeloth and James Orison of Steubenville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Earl Roseberry, died in 1956; and a son, William Earl Roseberry, died in 1977.
Edythe Headlee

Edythe Strosnider Headlee, 93, of 161 Baker Ridge Road, Morgantown, W.Va., formerly of Woodland Avenue, Waynesburg, died at 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2000, in Madison Rehabilitation Center and Nursing, Morgantown.
She was born January 27, 1907, in Garards Fort, a daughter of T.J. and Ethel Conway Strosnider.
Mrs. Headlee was a member of Washington Street United Methodist Church in Waynesburg.
She taught Sunday school and was very active in Mt. Calvary Methodist Church in Garards Fort and later Washington Street United Methodist Church, while her health permitted.
Mrs. Headlee was a volunteer for Hospice of Greene County and Greene County Memorial Hospital and was a homemaker.
On November 27, 1926, she married Russesll E. Headlee, who died May 8, 1987.
Surviving are three daughters, Lois Johnson of Garards Fort, Joan Headlee and Carol Middleton, both of Washington, D.C.; three sons, R. Gene Headlee of Waynesburg, Wayne A. Headlee of Gilbert, Ariz., and Thomas M. Headlee of Waynesburg.; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Wilson of Garards Fort; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a sister, Hazel "Dolly" Williams; and a brother, Harvey Strosnider.

Paul Richard Roupe, 62, of Washington, died Tuesday, March 14, 2000, in McMurray Manor, following a five-month illness.
He was born in Canton Township September 1, 1937, a son of the late Raymond Royal and Juanita Stella Jane Cole Roupe.
Mr. Roupe was employed as a janitor at Jessop Club in Washington. A U.S. Air Force veteran, he was a member of Jessop Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Taylorstown American Legion.
Surviving are a brother, Raymond Roupe of Washington; and three sisters, Marylu Williams of Bellflower, Calif., and Juanita Moore and Evelyn Poland, both of Washington.
Two sisters, Phylis and Dorothy Roupe, are deceased.
Colette A. Dittmer

Colette A. Dittmer, 92, of Cumberland, Md., died Friday, March 17, 2000.
She was born March 3, 1908, a daughter of Joseph and Anna Vogel Bradle.
Mrs. Dittmer retired in 1967 from Paper Products and was a volunteer for 15 years at El Dorado Senior Citizens Center.
She enjoyed traveling.
Surviving are a son, Albert Dittmer of Cumberland; six grandchildren, Pamela Dillie, Vanessa Williams, Bethann Mounts, Jacqueline Davis, and Jeffery and James Dittmer; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are her husband, Clarence Dittmer; two sisters, Clarissa and Marie Bradle; and six brothers, William, Frank, John, Joseph, Albert and Aloysius Bradle.
Fredrick O. Sutton
World War II veteran formerly of Washington
Fredrick O. Sutton, 88, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Washington, died Saturday, March 18, 2000, after a brief illness.
He was born March 11, 1912, in West Virginia, a son of Oly and India Williams Sutton.
Mr. Sutton was a veteran of World War II.
He had worked as a general contractor until his retirement.
Mr. Sutton was an active member of Washington Elks Lodge.
He had lived in Washington prior to moving to Las Vegas three years ago.
On December 12, 1941, he married Edith Pais, who died March 13, 2000.
Surviving are a daughter, Sandra Sutton Stellavato of Las Vegas, with whom he made his home; three grandchildren, Michaelle D. Stellavato-Tollefson, Joseph N. Stellavato and Dr. Daniel F. Stellavato; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two daughters, JoAnn and Marlene; four sisters; and a brother.

Grace E. Merlonghi, 92, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of the Finleyville area, died Friday, May 19, 2000, in her home.
She was born February 6, 1908, in Elrama, a daughter of Orlando David and Alice Butchner Byers.
Mrs. Merlonghi was employed for many years in Dayton by Delco Corp., a manufacturer of automotive parts and accessories.
She was a former member of Pleasant View United Methodist Church in Finleyville.
Surviving is a niece, Marlene Williams of Finleyville.
Deceased is her husband, Anthony L. Merlonghi.
Private graveside services will be held Wednesday, May 24, in James Chapel Cemetery, Finleyville. Arrangements are under the direction of Kegel Funeral Home Inc., Finleyville.

She was born January 25, 1926, in Wana, a daughter of Charles and Eva Florence Keener Anderson.
Mrs. Simpson was a member of Wana United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
Surviving are her husband, Luther 'Dickie' Simpson; four daughters, Janice Phillips of Westover, W.Va., Joyce Williams of Daybrook, W.Va., Drema Frazier of Waynesburg and Donna Simpson of Moundsville, W.Va.; two brothers, Robert Anderson and Byron Anderson, both of Paden City, W.Va.; a sister, Ruth Kovachik of Colorado; five grandchildren, David Wilson, Sam Wilson, Daphne Mauzy, Jamie Williams and Benton Frazier; and two great-grandchildren.

James H. Dray, 67, of Richeyville, died Tuesday, May 2, 2000.
He was born June 25, 1932, in Beallsville, a son of Edwin E. and Dorothy Baker Dray.
Mr. Dray was formerly employed by Bethlehem Mine Corp., Mine 51, as a foreman and was retired from the state Department of Transportation.
He served with the U.S. Army in the Korean War.
Mr. Dray was a member of Centerville American Legion, where he was past commander, and was a member of Centerville Sportsman Club.
He was 1950 graduate of Centerville High School.
On November 11, 1955, he married Hilda Arias, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, James E. Dray of Uniontown and Lawrence C. Dray of Stow, Ohio; two sisters, Frances Cicero of Washington and Kathryn Williams of Falls Church, Va.; two granddaughters, Sarah and Katie Dray; and a grandson, Jared A. Dray.

Harry C. McWreath II, 86, of Arlington, Va., formerly of Washington, died Friday, May 5, 2000.
He was a graduate of Washington High School and attended Washington and Jefferson College and Duke University.
Surviving are his wife of more than 50 years, Stefanie S. McWreath; a son, Harry C. McWreath III; a daughter, Karen M. Soverino; and a brother, David McWreath, formerly of Washington.
Deceased are his parents, Harry C. McWreath and Mona C. Williams McWreath Blackhurst.

Kristin Marie Ault, 15, of Woodbury, Minn., died Friday, November 10, 2000, as a result of a car accident.
She was born November 22, 1984, in Denver, Colo., a daughter of Lynne D'Amico Ault of Woodbury, formerly of Canonsburg, and David Ault, also of Woodbury.
Kristin, an honor student at Stillwater High School in Woodbury, was involved in dancing for 11 years and played on a softball team.
Surviving are a sister, Courtney Ault of Woodbury; a brother, Darrin Ault of Woodbury; paternal grandparents, Gene and Anna Ault of Montoursville; maternal grandfather, Dominic D'Amico of Phoenix, Ariz.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Deceased is her materal grandmother, Wilma D'Amico Williams.

Richard H. Hess
U.S. Army veteran of World War II
Richard H. Hess, 80, of Slovan, died Tuesday, November 14, 2000, in Washington County Health Center.
He was born January 22, 1920, in Mt. Sterling, a son of Frank F. Hess.
Mr. Hess was a laborer in the construction industry.
He was a member of Slovan Veterans of Foreign Wars, and he served in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving a Victory Medal.
He was twice married. His first wife was Margaret White Hess, who is deceased. He then married Eulalia Hess, who survives.
Also surviving are five daughters, Wilma Prevost of West Virginia, Leona Silvers of Slovan, Martha Hess of West Virginia, Leona Williams and Mary Lou Hess; three sons, Edward Paul Hess of Ohio and Fred and Edward Hess; two stepdaughters, Jenny Pierce of Paris and Billie Bittinger of Paris; a stepson, Raymond George Latshaw of Washington; 23 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three sons, Richard, Eugene and Clyde Hess; and two daughters, Bonnie Lee Hess and Janette Hess.
Thomas Rankin
Washington County law enforcement officer
Thomas "Bob" Rankin, 73, of South Franklin Township, died at 6:42 p.m. Monday, November 27, 2000, in Washington Hospital, after a five-month illness.
He was born January 20, 1927, in Republic, Fayette County, a son of Harry and Henrietta Ringer Rankin.
Mr. Rankin served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and later served with the U.S. Army in peacetime.
He was a member of Houston American Legion Post 902 and a lifetime member of Carmichaels Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3419.
Mr. Rankin was a law enforcement officer for Washington County, serving as deputy constable, deputy sheriff and county detective. He formerly worked as a security guard for Glosser Brothers and as a truck driver for Gacon Construction.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
On August 15, 1970, he married Myra Merchant Barnhouse, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Patrick Barnhouse of Raleigh, N.C.; two daughters, Teri Barnhouse Worthington of Dayton, N.C., and Theresa Cooper of Washington; four brothers, Harry Rankin Jr. of Casterville, Texas, and Donald, Ronald and James Rankin, all of Uniontown; seven sisters, Irene Crupe and Ann Phillips, both of Washington, Jane Williams of Claysville, Gladys Bush of Perryopolis, and Geraldine Fisher, Dottie Campbell and Freda Boland, all of Fairchance; two granddaughters, Danielle and Stephanie Barnhouse; and several nieces and nephews.
Clarence R. Mock

Clarence R. "Bud" Mock, 74, of Beallsville, died Monday, October 9, 2000, in Washington County Health Center, following a lengthy illness.
He was born May 8, 1926, in Big Run, a son of Clarence R. Mock Sr. and Jane Smouse Mock.
Mr. Mock worked in several coal mines in the Johnstown area and later worked as a mechanic for Lee Norse Company in Charleroi, from where he retired.
On September 15, 1948, in Wilmore, he married Lucille M. Williams, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Rita Rovnyak of Philadelphia; two sons, David Mock of Scenery Hill and Daniel Mock of California; a sister, Ruby Mallin of Revloc; five grandchildren, Jason, Aaron, Ryan, Marissa and Kevan Mock; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a daughter, Judith Lee Mock; three brothers, Bill, Bob and Blaine Mock; and two sisters, Margaret Weakland and Sadie Mingo.
James Clair Cowden
Dairy farmer from Hickory
James Clair Cowden, 75, of McDonald, formerly of Hickory, died Saturday, October 14, 2000, in Washington County Health Center, Washington.
He was born March 14, 1925 in Hickory, a son of J. Ard and Gladys McCalmont Cowden.
Mr. Cowden was a graduate of Hickory High School.
He was a dairy farmer.
Mr. Cowden was previously married to Mary W. Williams, who survives.
He later married Sonya Phipps, who died in 1998.
Surviving are three sons, James Clair Cowden II of Bulger, Thomas M. Cowden of Claysville and David Allan Cowden of Mocksville, N.C.; a daughter, Jennifer Keis of McDonald; a brother, Thomas Cowden of Hickory; two sisters, Grace Wert of Muncie and Janie Dunkle of Florida; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a grandson, Thomas Farrar; and two brothers, Joe and John Cowden.

She was born June 17, 1923, in Colliers, W.Va., a daughter of Emile L. and Bertie E. Ravenscraft Veydt.
Mrs. Reed was a homemaker.
She was a member of Free Methodist Church in New Brighton, Senior Citizens in Washington and Womens Missionary Prayer Fellowship in McDonald.
Surviving are six sons, Raymond H. Cox of Artesia, N.M., Larry K. and Roger Reed, both of Beaver Falls, and Frank, Kenneth and Keith Reed, all of Hookstown; eight daughters, Louella Williams of Beaver Falls, Lettie Jean Cornelison of Council Bluff, Iowa, Landa Jo "Cookie" Stewart of Freedom, Ann Meyers of Midland, Gloria Kolar and Ivy Reed, both of Hookstown, Stella Keys of Ohio and Leona Johnson of Harmony; two sisters, Nancy Tournay of Weirton, W.Va., and Shirley Zemaitis of Munster, Ind.; 50 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Anna H. "Happy" Addleman, 88, of Clarksville, died Sunday, October 29, 2000, in the home of her daughter, Thelma J. Hanford.
She was born March 5, 1912, on the family farm at Clarksville R.D.1, a daughter of Joseph Henry and Bertha Mae Sproat Chambers.
Mrs. Addleman was a graduate of Waynesburg High School.
She was a homemaker who lived most of her life in Morgan Township.
Mrs. Addleman was a former member of Morgan Township Society of Farm Women and taught sewing as a 4-H leader for more than 25 years.
She was Protestant.
On March 2, 1932, she married J. Lloyd Addleman, who died October 27, 1978.
Surviving are two daughters, Thelma J. Hanford of Mather, with whom she made her home the last two years, and Leah E. Williams of Washington; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Adalene Daniels of Pittsburgh; and a brother, Joseph R. Chambers of Mather.
Deceased are a daughter, Anna Margaret Benden; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Erma Zimmerman and Nellie Stickles; and a brother, Ross Chambers.
