Christina Maria Mueller Devenney, 28, of Bellaire Drive, Washington, died Thursday, June 14, 2001, in her home.
She was born January 1, 1973, in Washington, a daughter of Maryjo Handell Yankovitch Mueller of Donora and the late Robert B. Mueller Jr.
Mrs. Devenney was a homemaker and attended Friendship Community Church in Washington.
She was a high school graduate.
On February 24, 1995, she married Dennis Wayne Devenney Sr., who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Jessica Kusaj of Washington; a stepson, Dennis Wayne Devenney Jr. of Washington; three brothers, Clyde Howard Mueller of Deer Park, Texas, Jeffrey Edward Mueller of St. Amant, La., and Robert Michael Mueller of Indian Trails, N.C.; three sisters, Laura Jean Walters of Monongahela, Dorothy Ann McCormick of Elizabeth and Elizabeth Lynn Leach of New Eagle; a stepmother, Mary Pat Mueller of Indian Trail; five nephews and two nieces.
Deceased, in addition to her father, are five brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 18, in Mars Hill Baptist Church, Rillton, near Herminie, with Pastor Norman Leach and Pastor Lynn Leach officiating. Arrangements by William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., Washington.
Frank J. Nagy

Frank J. "Bud" Nagy, 72, of Parker Street, Houston, died Friday, June 15, 2001, in UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born April 4, 1929, in Washington, a son of John and Anna V. Kosey Nagy.
Mr. Nagy retired in 1991 from Ciba-Geigy, where he worked for 23 years, and also was a bricklayer.
He was a member of Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Church in Meadow Lands, Fraternal Order of Bears in Meadow Lands and an honorary member of Chartiers Township Volunteer Fire Department.
On April 29, 1950, he married Marie Dragan, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Kenneth Nagy of Granite Bay, Calif., Dennis Nagy of Meadow Lands, and Charles Nagy of Washington; six grandchildren, Adam, Brian, Natalie, Nicholas, Ethan and Kevin Nagy; two brothers, Ted Nagy and Butch Nagy, both of Washington; two sisters, Margaret Everly of Pike Creek, Texas, and Mary Serbin of Warren, Ohio.
Deceased is a sister, Dolores Stiles.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, June 18, in Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Church, Meadow Lands, with the Rev. John O'Shea officiating. Arrangements were made by McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, a Woodruff partner. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
Terry Fetsko

Terry Fetsko, 60, of Canonsburg, died at 8:40 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2001, in Canonsburg General Hospital.
He was born July 30, 1940, in Marianna, a son of the late Joseph and Mary Ottena Fetsko.
Mr. Fetsko was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg.
He was a 1958 graduate of West Bethlehem High School and served in the U.S. Army National Guard.
Before his retirement, he was a machinist for 30 years at McGraw-Edison Power Systems in Canonsburg.
Mr. Fetsko was a golf enthusiast and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
October 5, 1963, he married Rita Sonson, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Terry S. Fetsko of Houston; a daughter, Florence R. Fetsko Christy of Hickory; a brother, Raymond Fetsko of Marianna; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a sister, Frances "Honey Girl" Dutko.
John O'Shanka Jr.
Retired shipper for Climax Molybdenum
John "Yush" O'Shanka Jr., 82, of Avella (Jefferson Township), died Saturday, June 16, 2001, in Washington Hospital.
He was born July 27, 1918, in Derry, a son of John Sr. and Anna O'Shanka.
Mr. O'Shanka was a shipper for Climax Molybdenum in Langeloth from 1950 until retiring in 1983.
In 1959, he married Irene Pleska, who survives.
Mr. O'Shanka was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church of Burgettstown.
Surviving are a son, John O'Shanka III of Burgettstown; a daughter, Serene Chamberlain of Avella; two grandchildren, Brandon O'Shanka and Erin Chamberlain; a brother, James O'Shanka of Burgettstown; two sisters, Josephine Cornell of Canonsburg and Helen Plazrin of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Dominick Freno, 83, of Anaheim, Calif., formerly of Houston, died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, in West Anaheim Hospital Extended Care in California after a lengthy illness.
He was born June 29, 1917, in Houston, a son of John and Constance Freno.
Mr. Freno was employed as a real estate agent in California before his retirement.
Surviving is a daughter, Dawnell Freno of Anaheim.
Eugene D. Berty

Eugene D. Berty, 71, formerly of Cecil, died Sunday, June 17, 2001, in Kane Regional Center, Scott Township.
He was born June 19, 1929, in Columbus, Ohio, a son of Jules and Genevieve DeCamp Berty.
Mr. Berty was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Cecil, where he was employed as a custodian. He also delivered the Pittsburgh Sun Telegraph and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in the Cecil area.
Surviving are his stepmother, Cecilia Berty of Carnegie; and a niece and two nephews.
A sister, Linda Berty, is deceased.
Charles Bidzila Jr.

Charles Bidzila Jr., 84, of Maple Drive, Monongahela, died Saturday, June 16, 2001, in Jefferson Hospital.
He was born April 26, 1917, in Monongahela, a son of Charles and Mary Biro Bidzila Sr.
Mr. Bidzila owned and operated Bidzila's Food Market on 5th and Conrad avenues in North Charleroi from 1949 to 1969. He retired from Corning Glass in 1982.
He was a member of Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church in Monongahela.
Mr. Bidzila was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater.
He was a member and past commander in 1971 of Frank Downer American Legion Post 302 in Monongahela.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Anna Sukolosh Bidzila; a daughter, Geraldine Nicholson, with whom he made his home; two grandchildren, Michael C. Nicholson and Michele Nicholson Thomas; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Peter Bidzila of Monongahela; two sisters, Mary Davis of Valparaiso, Ind., and Judy Chocker of West Bend, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two brothers, John and Michael "Mickey" Bidzila.
Samuel J. Tornichio

Samuel J. Tornichio, 70, of Canonsburg, died Monday, June 18, 2001, in his home.
He was born June 5, 1931, in Carnegie, a son of Antonio and Rose Chaido Tornichio.
Mr. Tornichio was a resident of Canonsburg since 1971, where he was a member of St. Patrick Church.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Norfolk & Western Railroad as a freight repairman.
On March 2, 1957, he married Corrine Y. Parry, who survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Tina Colbert of Eighty Four, Debra Ladzinski of Canonsburg, Teresa Farrar of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Joni Rumelfanger of Canonsburg; three sisters, Teresa Chianese of Johnstown, Dolores Doman of Philadelphia and Betty Kury of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren, Julie and Brandon Colbert, Mia Ladzinski and Lia, Enzo and Nico Farrar; and several nieces and nephews.
James M. Henderson

James M. Henderson, 92, of Rosewood Drive, Monongahela, formerly of Craven Hill and Charleroi, died Monday, June 18, 2001, in Monongahela Valley Hospital.
He was born July 15, 1908, in Canonsburg, a son of James Everett and Rebeckah Tingler Henderson.
Mr. Henderson was a member of First Christian Church of Monongahela and a former member and elder emeritus of First Christian Church of Charleroi.
He was a 1926 graduate of Monongahela High School and retired as manager of purchasing and traffic with Combustion Engineering.
His wife, Loretta Allridge Henderson, is deceased.
Surviving are a son, Donald E. Henderson of Elizabeth; a daughter, Faye Lee Irey of Monongahela; seven grandchildren, Paul and Barbara Henderson, Debby Petrosky, Linda Huzway, Melanie Irey Sandrock and Bill and Bob Irey; and 16 great-grandchildren.
A sister, Catherine Glaros, is deceased.
Russell Alvin Wise
RCA electronic technician was veteran
Russell Alvin Wise, 72, of Waynesburg Road, Washington, died at 2:09 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2001, in Washington Hospital. He had been ill since April 28.
He was born March 28, 1929, in Washington, a son of Frank C. and Myrtle I. Schmidt Wise.
Mr. Wise was a member of Grace Brethren Church, Washington.
He was a high school graduate and attended Washington & Jefferson College and an electronics school in Uniontown.
Mr. Wise was a carpenter and electronic technician employed by RCA for 28 years, retiring in 1984.
During the Korean War, he served with the U.S. Army, and he was a member of Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of American Legion and National Rifle Association.
On July 28, 1951, he married Frances Anna Prowitt, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, David Russell Wise and Darrell Lee Wise, both of Washington; two daughters, Diana Lynn Swihart and Darlene Frances McKahan, both of Washington; a brother, Frank C. Wise of Washington; two sisters, Eva Hall of Washington and Dorothy Kania of Grove City; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Daniel Adam Wise; four brothers, Carl, Arthur, Francis and Walter Wise; and two sisters, Alice King and Katherine Locy.
Leslie Ann Kingan
Leslie Ann Kingan, infant daughter of Wesley O. Kingan Jr. and Melissa Hudock of Latrobe, died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
She was born June 11, 2001, in Pittsburgh.
In addition to her parents, surviving are two brothers, Larry Alan Black of Latrobe and Aaron Kingan of Connellsville; a sister, Destiny Kingan of Connellsville; maternal grandparents, Edward and Vicki Petti Hudock of Bentleyville; and two uncles, Chris Hudock of Stevensburg, Va., and David Hudock of Bentleyville.
A private graveside service was held in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela, under the direction of Greenlee Funeral Home, Bentleyville. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 10 Duff Road, Suite 304, Pittsburgh, PA 15235-3207.
Peter T. Benic
World War II veteran was retired from McGraw-Edison
Peter T. Benic, 83, of Allison Plan, Chartiers Township, died Monday, June 18, 2001, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, after suffering a heart attack in his residence.
He was born October 8, 1917, in Cleveland, Ohio, a son of Michael and Catherine Zivcic Benic.
After the death of his parents when he was 12 years old, Mr. Benic was raised by an aunt and uncle, Mary and Tom Domsic.
He retired after 25 years from McGraw-Edison Co. in Canonsburg. He also was a mechanic for the former Blue Ridge Bus Lines.
Mr. Benic was a member of Chartiers Township Volunteer Fire Department, the Bear's Club bowling team and golf league in Meadow Lands, American Legion Post 902 in Houston and Croatian Fraternal Union.
He also was a coach and umpire for the youth baseball organization in Meadow Lands.
Mr. Benic was a charter member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Roman Catholic Church in Meadow Lands, serving on the building committee when the church was founded in 1948.
During World War II, he served in the National Guard and then as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army for four years.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Catherine L. Mikus Benic; two sons, Thomas Benic of Pittsburgh and Patrick Benic of Washington, D.C.; two brothers, Joe Domsic of Detroit, Mich., and Mike Domsic of Erie; a sister, Ann Modrak of Pittsburgh; and three grandchildren.
Deceased are four brothers, Nick and Michael Benic and Ivan and Tom Domsic; and four sisters, Margaret Henderson, Mary Ozga, Alice Vitale and Dorothy Zampan.
Belva M. Johnson

Belva M. Floyd Johnson, 91, of Spraggs, died Monday, June 18, 2001, in Greene County Memorial Hospital, Waynesburg.
She was born January 16, 1910, in Hagans, W.Va., a daughter of Jobe and Etta Metheny Floyd.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of Blacksville Baptist Church in West Virginia.
She was married to Charles Johnson, who died September 23, 1973.
Surviving are two daughters, Pauline Davis of Spraggs and Ruth Filby of Claysville; seven grandchildren, Dolly Tuttle, Bill Davis, Ann Willard, June Spitznogle, Ruth Sprowl, Jean Tuttle and Charles Filby; 15 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a grandson, Roger Filby; two brothers; and four sisters.

Louise Jean Arena Boni, 86, of Washington, died Tuesday, June 19, 2001, in Canonsburg General Hospital.
She was born August 31, 1914, in Washington, a daughter of Thomas and Rose Arena.
Mrs. Boni attended Washington schools and worked at Montgomery Ward.
She was a member of Christian Church of North America, Washington Area Senior Citizens and Martha Washington Garden Club.
Mrs. Boni enjoyed gardening, cooking and crafts.
On August 2, 1942, in Washington, she married Jules J. Boni, who died December 10, 1975.
Surviving are a son, Frederick Thomas Boni of Washington; a daughter, Patricia Thompson of Washington; a brother, Patsy Arena of Washington; a sister, Theresa Julian of Taylorstown; a granddaughter, Jennifer Thompson Ritter; two grandsons, Scott and Brad Boni; and several nieces and nephews.
A sister, Millie Montecalvo, is deceased.

Charles W. Southwell, 96, of New Port Richey, Fla., died Monday, June 18, 2001, in his home.
He was born in England.
Mr. Southwell had resided in Florida since 1972. Prior to moving to Florida, he resided in Canonsburg.
He was employed by Universal Cyclops in Bridgeville as a purchasing agent.
He was Protestant.
Surviving is a sister, Hilda Senior of Lancaster.
Donna Marie Johnston

Donna Marie Johnston, 46, of Allison Avenue, Washington, died Tuesday, June 19, 2001, in her home.
She was born July 10, 1954, in Washington, a daughter of LeMoyne Hughes of Burgettstown and the late Sophia Carpa Hughes.
Mrs. Johnston was a member of Third United Presbyterian Church of Washington. She had been employed as a secretary for Washington Hospital for the past 25 years.
She was a graduate of Burgettstown High School and also attended college.
On September 29, 1979, she married Michael Johnston, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Scott Johnston, and a daughter, Amanda Johnston, both at home; three brothers, Rick Hughes and David Hughes, both of Burgettstown, and Mark Hughes of Detroit, Mich.; three sisters, Sandra Macioce of Uniontown, Lisa Hughes of Pittsburgh and Lori Gilbert of McDonald; a grandchild, Skyler Hutchins; and several nieces and nephews.
Eloise Taylor
West Alexander homemaker
Eloise Taylor, 74, of West Alexander, died unexpectedly Monday, June 18, 2001, in Wheeling (W.Va.) Hospital.
She was born February 22, 1927, in Wheeling, a daughter of Charles and Elsie Hinton Turney.
She was a homemaker.
On February 17, 1950, in Cumberland, Md., she married William T. Taylor, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Ronald Taylor of West Alexander; a daughter, Cathy Moraski of Moundsville, W.Va.; and two grandchildren, Ronald and B.J. Taylor.
Mrs. Taylor was the last of her immediate family.
All services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to West Alexander United Methodist Church, West Alexander, PA 15376. Michael H. Heinrich Funeral Home, West Alexander, is in charge of arrangements.
Lawrence W. Cooper
Retired metallurgist for Jessop Steel
Lawrence William Cooper, 84, of Sycamore R.D.1, died Monday, June 18, 2001, in Washington Hospital, following a lengthy illness.
He was born January 31, 1917, in West Union, a son of David Arthur and Arta Loughman Cooper.
Mr. Cooper had been employed by Jessop Steel for 42 years as a metallurgist, retiring in 1972 after which he returned to work and retired in 1979.
He was a member of West Union Presbyterian Church, Sunset Lodge No. 623 F&AM, Valley of Pittsburgh Consistory, Syria Temple and National Rifle Association.
Mr. Cooper was a musician and made violins.
He was a graduate of Trinity High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh.
Mr. Cooper enjoyed gardening and roses.
On June 10, 1949, he married Marcella P. Jones, who survives.
Mr. Cooper was the last of his immediate family.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two sons, Lawrence David and Timmy Cooper; and two brothers, Arthur B. and Roy E. Cooper.
Ronald L. Kuhar

Ronald L. Kuhar, 59, of Bentleyville, died at 9:15 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2001, in Beverly Health Care, Canonsburg.
He was born March 7, 1942, in Bentleyville, a son of the late Joseph A. "Peanuts," who died November 29, 1999, and Grace Huber Kuhar, who died April 1, 1999.
Mr. Kuhar was a 1960 graduate of Bentleyville High School.
He was Catholic.
Mr. Kuhar served in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving from Aug. 1, 1961, to July 31, 1967.
He was a member of Independent Club, Lithuanian Club and Eagles Club, all of Bentleyville.
Mr. Kuhar was employed as a truck driver for Gavco Inc. of Bentleyville.
Surviving are a daughter, Tiffany Kuhar of Belle Vernon; a grandson, Colton J. Doyle; and several aunts and uncles.
Deceased is a brother, Joseph E. Kuhar, who died April 17, 1972.
Carl Lawrence II
39-year member of Canonsburg VFD
Carl (Tom) Lawrence II, 68, of Canonsburg, died at 5:30 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2001, in Washington Hospital.
He was born December 15, 1932, in Hopedale, Ohio, a son of Carl T. and Winnie Danley Lawrence.
Mr. Lawrence was a member of Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church, where he had served as an elder.
He was a 1951 graduate of Trinity High School.
During the Korean War, Mr. Lawrence served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a fire protection and security officer at Cooper Industries in Canonsburg.
For the past 39 years, Mr. Lawrence had been a member of Canonsburg Volunteer Fire Department, where he held the offices of president and first lieutenant. He also was a member of Washington County Firemens Association.
Mr. Lawrence was an avid hunter, fisherman and bowler.
On April 30, 1955, he married Kathryn (Kay) Milligan, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Cynthia L. Young of Cartwright, Okla.; two sons, Carl (Tom) Lawrence III of Canonsburg and Dr. David W. Lawrence of Morgantown, W.Va.; a sister, Rosetta Kaseber of Martins Ferry, Ohio; a brother, Layton Lawrence of Iron Station, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Sandra Scott, William and Michael Young and Ryan, Rachel, Jacob and Morgan Lawrence; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two brothers, Robert and James Lawrence; and a sister, Eleanor Himes.
