Mrs. Thomas Black 1900
Mrs. Thomas Black died at her home in Blairsville, on Monday evening March
5 at the age of about 83 years. Her death was the result of serious burns
sustained some time ago. She was a native of Saltsburg having lived there
all her life until about a year ago when she with her husband removed to
Blairsville. She had since resided with her daughter Mrs. George Rager.
Besides her husband the deceased is survived by eight children. The
funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at 2. Interment was made
in Blairsville Cemetery.

Mrs. Victor Kruppa
FOWLER- Mrs. Hazel Kruppa 54 of King-Graves Road died at 10 a.m. Saturday
in Trumbull Memorial Hospital, Warren, after a long illness.
Mrs. Kruppa was born Jan. 8, 1921 in Farrell, Pa., a daughter of Robert
and Jessie Cline Black and came to this area as a child. She was a member
of Hartford Community Church.
She leaves her husband, Victor to whom she was married seven years; two
sons Ronald Gates, of Hartford, and Edward Gates of Vienna; three stepsons
Victor Kruppa of Cortland, Peter Kruppa of Hartford, and John Kruppa of
Brookfield, two daughters Mrs Perry Beaver of Vienna and Mrs Gary Houser
of Farmdale; a stepdaughter Mrs Joseph Passafiume of Huron, a brother
Richard Black of Vienna four sisters; Mrs. Betty O'Lenick of Columbiana,
Mrs. Ruth Caldwell of Sharon, Pa, Mrs. Albert Caldwell of Greenville, Pa and
Mrs. Irene Davis of Vienna 19 grandchildren and a great grandchild
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Madasz Funeral Home,
Brookfield where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.

Mrs William A. Davis
VIENNA - Mrs. William A. (Irene A.) Davis, 65, Davis Drive, died at 6:40 p.m.
Monday in Warren General Hospital following an extended illness.
She was born Feb. 11, 1913 in Johnstown Pa., the daughter of Robert and
Jessie Cline Black. Her husband William A. Davis died in 1972.
A resident of this area 11 years. Mrs. Davis was a member of Living
Messiah Fellowship of Girard.
Survivors include a daughter Mrs. Charles Barr of Vienna; a brother Richard
Black of Brookfield; three sisters; Mrs. Betty O'Lenick of Columbiana , Mrs
Ruth Caldwell of Masury, Mrs. Albert Caldwell of Transfer, Pa and three
grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Madasz Funeral Home,
Brookfield. Burial will be in Crown Hill Burial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 tp 9 p.m. today and an hour
prior to the service

Kenneth Black
Kenneth Black 63 RT 2, Gainesville Fla., formerly of Brookfield Township
died of a heart attack Tuesday at his home.
He was born Jan. 21, 1911 in Windber, PA, the son of Robert and Jessie
Cline Black.
He had resided in Florida since 1969.
Prior to retiring he was employed by the General Fireproofing Co
Youngstown.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Jane Morrison Black, whom he married
June 30, 1931 four daughters; Mrs. Juanita Thomas, of Brookfield, Mrs. Grace
Titus and Mrs Jean Draper both of Gainsville, Deborah at home, a brother
Richard of Vienna; five sisters; Mrs. Irene Davis of Vienna, Mrs. Albert
Caldwell of Greenville, PA., Mrs. Ruth Caldwell of Masury, Mrs. Hazel Kruppa
of Brookfield, Mrs. Betty O'Lenick of Columbiana and six grandchildren, a
brother and a sister, preceded him in death.
Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Johnson and Hayes Funeral
Home Gainsville with burial in Melrose, Fla.

John R. Black
John Raymond Black, 41, Orangeville, died of a heart attack at midnight
Saturday while attending a dance at the Hartford Fire Station. He was
pronounced dead on arrival at Buhl Hospital in Sharon.
Born in Windber, Pa., Jan. 1907 the son of Robert and Jessie Cline Black, he
had been employed by the Sharon Steel Co. for the past 10 years.
He was a member of the Orangeville Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Jane whom he married Aug. 15, 1930, a daughter Mrs.
Walter Moore, Orangeville, two sons; John Robert with the US Marines at
camp Pendleton Calif. and Theodore at home; his mother Mrs. Jessie Black
Nutwood; two brothers Kenneth R. and Richard both of Nutwood; five sisters
Mrs. William Davis, Mrs John Caldwell, and Mrs Lawrence Gates, all of
Nutwood and Mrs Harold Caldwell Sharpsville, PA and Mrs Leon O'Lenick
Mineral Ridge.
The body is at Galloway Funeral Home in Hartford where services will be
held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in charge of Rev. John Freiling. Burial will be in
Brookfield Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight.

BROOKFIELD - Mrs Jessie Black 67 widow of Robert Black who died in 1945
died yesterday morning at 8:10 in her home on King- Graves RD of a heart
condition, following an extended illness.
Born March 3, 1891 in Indiana County. PA she was the daughter of John and
Evelin Livengood Cline. She had resided in Brookfield Township for 35
years and was a member of the Brookfield Methodist Church.
She is survived by five daughters Mrs. W. A. Davis of Howland, Mrs. John
Caldwell of Sharpsville, PA, Mrs. Harold Caldwell of Brookfield, Mrs
Lawrence Gates of Hartford and Mrs Leonard O'Lenick of Mineral Ridge, two
sons Kenneth and Richard both of Brookfield, 25 grandchildren and 13
great- grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Madasz Funeral Home here,
where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Brookfield Cemetery.

BROOKFIELD - Robert N. Black, 62, of the King-Graves Rd., Brookfield
Township died at his home at 2 a.m. Sunday after an extended illness.
Born in Mowerytown, PA on Nov. 27, 1884, the son of Barney and Julia Long
Black he was a retired carpenter. A resident of this community for the
past seven years, he formerly lived in Fowler Township.
Mr. Black was a member of the Brookfield Methodist Church.

Charles W. Black retired mine worker, House 102, Brenizer, passed away, April
28 in the Indiana Hospital. He was born April 5, 1880 in Nowrytown, a son of
Barney B. and Julia A. (Long) Black both deceased.
Mr. Black was a member of the Free Methodist church, Blairsville and a member
of U. M. W. A. Union No. 5744.
His wife, Lula P. preceded him in death, March 19, 1952.
Surviving are five daughters:

Services at the Ferguson Funeral Home, Saturday April 30, at 2:30 p. m. the
Reverend Ralph L. Page. of the Free Methodist Church will officiate.
Interment will be in Blairsville cemetery.
Hazlett, (Black), Anna A.
Mrs. Anna Hazlett
Mrs. Anna Hazlett of Brandenville died yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock as a
result of a stroke, which she suffered the day before. In November 1936 she
was seized with her first stroke and had been paralyzed since then. Mrs.
Hazlett was the daughter of the late Barney and Julia Black. She was born in
Saltsburg October 9, 1874. Surviving are her husband Samuel G. Hazlett and
the following children: Mrs. E. J. Piper of Cokeville; Mrs. Russell McCurdy of
Blairsvilel; William of Revere, Mass. Lloyd of Quakertown, Pa Clyde and
Charles of Bradenville; three brothers, James Black of Cokeville; Charles
Black of Brenizer, and Robert Black of Ohio and one sister. Mrs. Sarah Eales
of Cokeville; also 22 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The body
has been taken to the home of her daughter Mrs. Russell McCurdy of 185 East
Brown street, Blairsville where friends will be received. Funeral services
will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Burial will be at Hillside
Cemetery.

James Jacob Black of Johnstown, Pa., passed away Sunday, February 28, 1954, at
8:10 p.m. at his home following an illness of several months.
Born May 6, 1897 at Blairsville a son of James Casper Parker and Laura Alice
Mikesell Black, has resided at Johnstown for the past six years and was a
member of LOOM Lodge of Johnstown.
He is survived by his wife--Marie Hinchman Black, his mother of
Punxsutawney, three sons: James A. of Cleveland, Ohio, Robert L. of
Harrisburg, Emerson L. of Cleveland, Ohio, ; One step daughter, Mrs. Aldeane
Bell of Saltsburg RD 2, four grandchildren; three brothers--Ray Black, and
Leonard of New Florence, and Charles of Orville, Calif. one sister Mrs. Ethel
Penrose, New Florence RD 2.
Friends were received at Robinson Funeral Home, Saltsburg, where services
were conducted Thursday, March 4, at 1:30 p.m. by Rev. Earl R Harshbnrger,
with interment in Edgewood Cemetery, Saltsburg.

LONG - Mrs. Mary Elizabeth, 79, New Florence, died Nov. 21, 1977 at Lee
Hospital.
Born June 15, 1898 in Lockport, daughter of Washington and Margaret
(Mundorf )Wambaugh.
Preceded in death by parents; husbands Joseph McElwee, and Alex Long;
sister, Deane Wambaugh and son Washington Louis McElwee. Survived by these
children: Glen McElwee Youngstown, Ohio, Alfred Eugene Long, New Florence,
Margaret Thompson, Youngstown; Dorothy Colson, Seward; Dean Burkholder,
Youngstown; Betty McDowell, Pampa, Tex and Alexander Long Florida; also 18
