Charles R. Deemer, 62, of Bolivar RD1 died Thursday morning, Jan. 13, 2005 in Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born April 18, 1942, in Fairfield Twp. a son of the late James and Gladys Laughner Deemer. Charles had been employed at Idlewild Park for over 47 years, having begun working there when he was 15. He was a member of the Fort Palmer Presbyterian Church. He was the secretary-treasure of the Fort Palmer Cemetery. He is survived by a daughter, Peggy S. Deemer of Amherst, N.Y.; a son Russell C. (and his wife, Kristi) Deemer of Bolivar RD1; two grandchildren, Breana and Ethen Deemer, a sister, Jane Eicher, of New Florence; a brother, James N. Deemer of Ligonier; and his mother-in-law, Agnes Tantlinger, of Bolivar RD1. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Jane Tantlinger Deemer in 1989. Friends will be received Sunday from noon to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the J. Paul McCracken Funeral Chapel Inc. 144 E. Main St., Ligonier. A funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Fort Palmer Presbyterian Church with Pastor Jim Tomb officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Palmer Cemetery. James N. Deemer

James N. Deemer, 71, of Ligonier died very unexpectedly Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005 at his home. He was born July 15, 1934 in Fairfield Twp. a son of the late James and Gladys Laughner Deemer. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a coal miner by the former Florence Mining Co. He had also worked for 24 years for Allegheny Foundry in Bolivar. After retirement, he enjoyed driving deliveries for the Pie Shoppe in Laughlintown. He was a member of the Fort Palmer Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed spending time in his garage working on vehicles for his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Anna Telford Deemer; two daughters, Pamela Ann Deemer (and her fiance, Timothy Rusin) and Kelly J. Horner (and her husband Thomas), all of Youngstown; two sons, Randy L. (and his wife Penny) Deemer of St. Mary's and Brian L (and his wife Jennifer) Deemer, of Bolivar, nine grandchildren; and a sister, Jane Eicher (and her husband John) of New Florence. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by three brothers, Charles R. Deemer and infant Twins, Carl and Clyde Deemer; and a grandson. Aaron Rusin who died last year in Iraq while serving his country. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the J. Paul McCracken Funeral Chapel Inc. 144 E. Main St., Ligonier, where a celebration of Jim's life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Homer Tantlinger officiating. Interment will follow in Menoher Memorial park. World War II Veteran
Linus Alvy Deemer, 85, of New Alexandria, died Saturday Nov. 1, 2003 in his residence. He was born Sept. 5, 1918, in Bairdstown, a son of the late Isaac and Harriet Lucinda (Rupert) Deemer. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army Air Forces in the Pacific Theatre. He retired from the Tribune-Review in Greensburg, where he worked in the mail room. Linus was a member of New Alexandria United Methodist Church. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lulu Marsh and Margaret Shirley and two brothers, Edward and Lawrence Deemer. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Mrs. Irene Yacobucci Deemer of New Alexandria; two sons, Stanley R. Deemer of New Alexandria and George A. Deemer and his wife Kathy of Derry; two daughters, Mary E. and husband Dean A. Sheffler of New Alexandria and Lucinda L. and husband James Nicely of Latrobe; 11 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. The P. David Newhouse Funeral home, corner of Church and Washington streets, New Alexandria, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

MRS. ANNIE DEEMER
Mrs. Annie Deemer, widow of the late Philip Deemer, died at her home on Oak Hill, near Apollo, on March 23, aged 81 years. She was born, lived and died in the same community. These children survive: Albert, of Brushvalley; Alexander, of Cochran's Mills; Lemuel, of equitable; Mrs. David Howell and Mrs. James Painter, of Apollo. In 1894 the deceased and her husband celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Rev. Jamison, pastor of the U.P. church in Apollo, conducted the funeral services on Thursday and the interment was made in the graveyard at Olivet.

JONES Kenneth P., 58, Robinson died Oct. 1, 2001 at West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Dec. 20, 1942 in Robinson, son of Anna Jane (Clawson) Jones and the late Paul H. Jones. Survived by mother, Robinson; wife of 36 years, Cora (Bucceri) Jones; sons, Derek S. (Heather) Jones. Fairbank, Alaska; and Shann P. (Teresa) Jones, Stephens City, Va.; and grandson, Devin Jones, Ken was a teacher for the United School District for over 36 years and coached wrestling for 19 years. Member of Robinson and Vintondale Sportsmen's Clubs and the Retreads Motorcycle Club. He loved his wife and family dearly as well as his special students. Ken also loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at J. Paul McCracken Funeral Chapel, Bolivar. He was a retired railroad trainman and member of Christian Church in Bolivar and Pennsylvania Railroad Ledge Trainmen. He is survived by his widow, Margaret E. Henderson; one daughter, Nancy J. McMaster of Ligonier; one son, David R. He was a retired farmer and coal miner. He was a member of the Pioneer Presbyterian Church in Ligonier, F&AM 331 and the Coudersport Consistory. George W. Henderson, 87, of Ligonier died Friday night, Oct. 15, 2004 in Ligonier Gardens. He was born Oct. 3, 1917 in Fairfield Twp. a son of the late Grover C. and Asenith (Grubbs) Henderson. Prior to retirement he was employed by E.R. Caldwell Land Clearing. He was a member of Fort Palmer United Presbyterian Church, Ligonier Masonic Lodge 331 F&AM and a lifetime member of the Byers-Tosh (Ligonier) American Legion Post 267 and Ligonier VFW Post 734. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Emily Demmitt Henderson (April 25, 1983); two sisters, Alice Holman and Louise Donaldson and three brothers, Charles, James and Blair Henderson. He is survived by four sons, Richard and his wife, Ruth, and Larry R. and his wife Barbara, all of Latrobe, George "Doug" and his wife, Joyce and Rex B. and his wife, Susan, all of Bolivar, and five grandchildren. He was a former owner of Henderson's Store, Bolivar. He was a member of Bolivar United Presbyterian Church, Duane Boring VFW Post 9310 Of Robinson, American Legion Post 128 of Bolivar, the District American Legion Membership Committee, the 40 and Eight of Greensburg, Moose Legion of Verona, and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 187, Blairsville. He was a World War II veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin. HENDERSON - Bruce W. Henderson, 49, of Bolivar RD 1 died Wednesday, March 9, 1983 in Johnstown. Mr. Henderson was born Aug. 20, 1933 in Lockport, son of Boyd and Iva Lute Henderson, New Florence RD 2. He was a member of United Mine Workers Local 1257. Survivors other than his parents include his wife, Natalie Rabickow Henderson; children Christina Ann LaRosse, New Florence RD 1, Renee Lynn Long, Bolivar RD 1, Nadine Beth Bealonis, Seward and Nina Faye and Bruce Wayne Jr., at home; Also surviving are a granddaughter; brothers and sisters Norman, and Beatrice McKinney, New Florence RD 1, Mona Boring, New Florence RD 2, David, Bolivar RD 1 and Rowland, Williamsport. Maola R. Henderson, 98, of John 23rd home, Hermitage, formerly of Derry, died Tuesday, July 13, 1999 at the home. Mrs Henderson was born July 23, 1900 in Donegal Twp., Westmoreland County, daughter of the late Harry Wilbur and Lala Rager McKlveen. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sharon. She is survived by her son Richard M. , Hermitage; her daughter Janet Wilkens, Bryen, Texas; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter J. whom she married Oct. 17, 1921, and who died May 30, 1981; children Walter Jr., Harry "Bob" and Lala Turnbull; a great granddaughter; her brothers Abb, Pete and Mac. Graveside services were held Thursday at Coles Cemetery, Derry, Rev. Richard M. Henderson officiating.

Harry Albert Newhouse passed away April 9, at his home, 260 Railroad Avenue, Blairsville. A son of John and Cora Altman Newhouse, born April 19, 1892, in Lewisville, PA the deceased had been a resident of Blairsville his entire life time. A conductor on the Pennsylvania Railroad, he had been a member of the Brotherhood of Trainmen. Surviving are his wife, Hulda Reed Newhouse and four daughters, Mrs. Helen Cowan,Mrs. Violet Iscrupe of Blairsville; Mrs. Sara Wilson, Freedom, and Mrs. Florence Yoh, Bethel, PA; Two step-daughters, Dorothy Hammer, Cleveland, Ohio, and Mary Tio, Blairsville; three step-sons. Albert Reed, Arlington, VA;Eugene Held, Cleveland, Ohio;Charles Held, Neward, N. J. ; Two brothers, Edward of Blairsville and Robert of California;and two sisters, Mrs. Marie Alonzo, Glassport, and Mrs. Ethel Allison, Canton, Ohio. Friends will be received at the Shoemaker Funeral home until 2:30 p.m. Monday April 12 when services will be conducted there by the Rev. John N. Hempstead. Interment will follow in the Blairsville cemetery.

Mrs. Hulda C Reed Held Newhouse, 68 formerly of Blairsville, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 1966 at Forestville, Md. at the home of her son, Albert Reed. She was a Gold Star Mother, member of the VFW Post 5821 Auxiliary ; American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 407; WOTM, Chapter 895; Ladies Auxiliary of the FOE No. 1488; Ladies Auxiliary to the B of RT, No. 359 all of Blairsville. Born Dec. 12, 1897 she is survived by three sons: Albert Reed, mentioned above; Elmer E. Held, Brunswick, O. and Charles E held, Blairsville; one daughter Mrs. Dorothy Hammer, Cleveland, O. Four step-daughters: Mrs. Jack (Helen) Cowan, Blairsville; Mrs. John (Violet) Iscrupe, Latrobe; Mrs. Vincent (Sara) Wilson, Freedom; Mrs. Herbert (Florence) Yoh, of New Jersey; 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was the window of Harry A. Newhouse who preceded her in death in April, 1954. Friends will be received at Shoemaker Funeral Home, Blairsville, from 7-10 p.m. this evening and from 2-4 and 7-10 p.m. Wednesday, where funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery

HENDERSON – August M., 92, Fairfield Township, died Thursday, April 20, 2006, at Excela Health, Latrobe Area Hospital. Born Sept. 4, 1913, in Fairfield Township, the son of the late Albert and Ida B. (Crusan) Henderson. Preceded in death by wife, Helen (Baird) Henderson; brothers, Alfred, Melvin, Cecil, Leroy and Wesley Henderson; and sister, Stella Miller. Survived by children, Janice Powell and Roger Henderson, both of Fairfield Township; granddaughter, Christine Kaiser, Windber; and great-grandchildren, Shawn, Matthew and Nicole Kaiser. HOWARD
Olive Howard, 99, of Armagh, died Sept. 2, 2001 at Church of the Brethren Home. She was born May 18, 1902, in Johnstown, daughter of Dr. E.J. and Belle (Hildebrand) Burkhart. She was a member of Third Brethren Church and its missionary society. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Clarence F. Howard; a daughter, Lois L. Howard; four brothers, Morris, Earl, Blair and John Burkhart, and a sister, Viola Burkhart. She is survived by three sons, Richard A. Howard (and his wife, Charlotte), of Armagh, William C. Howard (and his wife Judith) of Waukegan, Ill., and Kenneth A. Howard (and his wife, Bernadee) of Croydon; eight grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral service was held Friday at Richard C. Stuart Funeral Home, Armagh, with Pastor Raymond D. Grumbling officiating. Burial was in Headrick's Union Cemetery. Minnie Oralee Howard
Survived by husband, daughters, sons, grandchildren, great-grandsons Minnie Oralee Howard, 84, New Florence, died Sunday April 14, 2002 at Lee Hospital. Born Feb. 8, 1918 in Ellijay, Ga., daughter of the late Gordon and Frances Bennett Defore. She also was preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Walter aka "Mule Skinner;" Also children Walter Jr., married to Donna Hauser, Brooksville, Fla.; Dempsey, married to Sheila, and Roland, New Florence; David married to Donna Boltz, Hummelstown; James Homer City; Frank and friend Nancy Thomas, New Florence; Michael Married to Marilyn Kaufman, Seward; Opal, wife of Gregory Boring, and April, wife of Gary Sisitki, New Florence; Nathan, Johnstown. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, two great-grandsons and a sister, Mary Quinn, Dalton, Ga., A private memorial service was held. Stuart Funeral Home, New Florence, was in charge of arrangements.

HOWARD
Raymond L. Howard, 73, of Johnstown, formerly of New Florence died Wednesday July 21, 1993 at Lee Hospital, Johnstown. He was born Aug. 12, 1919 in New Florence, a son of the late Curtis and Pearl S. (Oliver) Howard. He was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, New Florence Lion's Club; Chapter 2, DAV, Johnstown; Lodge 331 F&AM, Ligonier; Scottish Rite Lodge, Coudersport; Jaffa Temple, Altoona; and Lodge 523, Independent Order of Old Fellows. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a retired shift supervisor for Pennsylvania Electric Company, Seward Generating Station. He was preceded in death by his wife Viola (Allison) Howard, and a brother, Paul E. Howard. He is survived by three brothers, Homer W. and Harry F. Howard, both of New Florence RD1; and Fred C. Howard of Mason, Ohio; a number of nieces and nephews; and stepmother, Margaret Howard of Seward. Friends were received at the Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, New Florence, where services were held Saturday with the Rev. Dr. Lawrence W. Chottiner officiating. Entombment was in Grandview Mausoleum. Robert R. Howard, 46, of Latrobe, formerly of New Florence RD 1 died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1993 at Presbyterian University Hospital Pittsburgh. Mr. Howard, a former employee of Steimer's Foundry, Latrobe, was born March 3, 1946 in Johnstown, son of Jessie Vickroy Howard, New Florence RD 1 and the late Robert A. Howard. Survivors other than his mother include his wife Glenda Lisamore Howard; three sons, John, New Florence, and Robert and Bryan, Latrobe; two sisters, Marion Baldwin, Pasadena, Md. and Patricia Lundregan, College Park, Md. Services were held Friday at Stuart Funeral Home, New Florence, Rev. R. Kenneth Keiper officiating. Interment followed in Fairfield Cemetery.

Joyce, 68, Rockville, Md., formerly of Seward, died Jan. 29, 1999 at home. Born Oct. 25, 1930. Preceded in death by parents, Gladis and Merlyn Anderson, and by brother, David Anderson. Survived by husband, Clayton "RED" Howard, formerly of Johnstown; and children: Cindy Hemenway, Bruce Howard, Beth Schjolin, Amy Stewardson and Phillip Howard, and sister, Dorothy Jean Smith, formerly of Seward. HENDERSON, Walter
Walter Wayne Henderson, 58, of Erie formerly of Bolivar died Saturday Sept. 1, 1979 in Lee Hospital, Johnstown. Mr. Henderson was born Oct. 28, 1920, in Fairfield Twp a son of the late Walter and Jessie (Baird) Henderson. Mr. Henderson is survived by these sisters; Mrs. Winona Gamble of West Bolivar, and Mrs. Theresa McClure of Bolivar. He made his home with Mrs. Iva Grubbs of Erie. Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Edward J. Speidel Funeral Home, Bolivar with the Rev. Donald Stanley officiating. Burial was in Fort Palmer Cemetery.

Mrs. Warren Hall Jr.
Mrs. Warren (Phyllis L.) Hall Jr., 61, of Boca Raton, Fla., formerly of New Florence and Johnstown, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 1979, at Presbyterian University Hospital, Pittsburgh. Mrs. Hall was born July 12, 1918 in Robinson the daughter of the late H. Jay and Laura (Duncan) Bowser. She was a former member of the First Lutheran Church, Johnstown. In addition to her husband she is survived by a daughter, Stephanie and two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Graff and Mrs. Bernice Wagner, both of New Florence. Funeral service was held Friday at First Lutheran Church, Johnstown, the Rev. Dr. Robert G. Swanson officiating. Entombment was in Grandview Mausoleum. The Kenneth A. Glenn William Hall
Glenn William Hall, 62, of Ligonier RD 1 died Monday, Dec. 26, 1994 in Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born Sept. 6, 1932, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Charles Edward and Margaret (Tosh) Hall. He was a member of Oak Grove Church of Christ, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a self-employed farmer and greenhouse operator. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Jay D. Surviving are his wife, Faye J. McBurney Hall; a daughter, Julie J. Hall of Pittsburgh; a sister, Mrs. Jack (Margaret A.) Offenbach of Pittsburgh, and many nieces and nephews.
