Roy E. Henderson 73 of Bolivar RD 1 died Wednesday, July 15, 1987 at Mercy Hospital, Johnstown.
He was born Sept 25, 1913 in Fairfield Twp. , a son of the late George and Alice (Muir) Henderson. He was a member of First Church of Christ, West Bolivar.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Buckles and Ora Lear; two brothers Clarence and Hilis Henderson a son Jay Henderson and a grandson Keith Hall. He is survived by his wife Marie G. (Slickinger) Henderson; five daughters, Faye Ann Henderson of Dayton, Md., Judy Hall of Johnstown, Sue (Mrs. Ernest) Foster of Bolivar and Gay Lou Fisher and Tracy (Mrs. Jeff) Bealonis both of New Florence, two sons; Barry Henderson of Bolivar and Fritz Henderson of Tolland, Conn. 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister Florence (Mrs. Logan) Decker of New Flornece and two brothers, Boyd Henderson of New Florence and John Henderson of Bolivar.
Funeral services were held Friday at First Church of Christ, West Bolivar with the Rev. Richard Lear and Kenneth Neal officiating. Arrangements by J. Paul McCracken Funeral Home, Bolivar.
Burial was in Bolivar West View Cemetery.

Sarah M. Henderson, 79 of Bolivar RD 1 died Wednesday, May 5, 1993 at Latrobe Area Hospital.
Mrs. Henderson was born March 27, 1914 in Latrobe, daughter of the late Samuel and Mary Pendexter Shoup.
She was a retired nurse's aide at Torrance State Hospital and a member of the Daughters of America of Bolivar.
Survivors include four children, Mrs. John (Connie) Beard, Ronald M and Albert R "Dick" all of Bolivar RD 1; and Samuel A. New Florence RD 1; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin M. in 1983; her sisters Helen Shoup and Mary Stiffey; her brothers Harry and Eugene.
Services were held Friday at McCracken Funeral home, Bolivar, Rev. Samuel R. Astolos Jr. officiating. Interment followed in Bethel Cemetery, Clyde.

Margaret V. (Virginia Margaret) "Marge" Henderson, 76 of Bolivar RD 1 died Friday, Feb. 7, 1997 at Lee Hospital, Johnstown, PA.
Mrs. Henderson was born June 24, 1920 in Fairfield Twp., Westmoreland County, daughter of Philip A Short and Hazel Eales Short Overdorff.
She was an inspector at the old Trimble Manufacturing in New Florence and Blairsville.
She also was a member of the First Church of Christ in West Bolivar.
Survivors include four children, Mrs. Grant (Cecelia) Mitchell, Midvale Utah, Mrs. Charles (Darlene) Bartow, Bolivar, Gray L. Bolivar RD 1, and Thomas E. and wife Dora Evansville, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren;
Also surviving is her sister Mrs. Elmer (June) Nixon, Robinson and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil W. in 1977; her son Richard Lee; three sisters, Rebecca Howard, Olive Short and Florence McMahon; two brothers, Joseph "Tom" and Harry "Dick".
Services were held Monday at McCracken Funeral Home, Bolivar, Rev. Gabriel G. Mraz officiating. Interment was in West View Cemetery, Bolivar.

Wesley E. Henderson 77 of New Florence RD 1 died Monday May 1, 1995 at Latrobe Area Hospital.
He was born March 26, 1918, in Fairfield Twp., a son of the late Albert and Ida B. (Crusan) Henderson. He was a member of the Community Bible Church; West Bolivar. He was a World War II Veteran. He was a Technical Sergeant; serving in the Rhineland, Northern France and the Battle of the Bulge. He received the Good Conduct Medal, African, Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Expert Infantry Badge, Combat Infntry Badge, Purple Heart, Oat Leaf Cluster, and Bronze Star. He was a life member of the D.A.V., Indiana Chapter, and a member of V.F.W. Post 155, Johnstown and the N.R.A.
he is survived by his wife, Sara E. (Garland) Henderson; a son, Timothy E. married to Charlene Bouch of Bolivar RD 1; two grandchildren, Gail and Philip Henderson; a great-grandson, Philip Henderson, and a brother, August Henderson of Bolivar RD 1.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, New Florence, where services will be held Thursday, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Samuel R. Astolos Jr. officiating.
Burial will be in Fort Palmer Cemetery. Military graveside rites by local veterans organizations.

Mrs. Maude E Hughes, 74, of 3216 Garland, died in Los Angeles Saturday while visiting her daughter Mrs. Gertrude Alberoni.
Also surviving are four sons, John L. Hughes, Los Angeles, Frank Hughes, Thomas Hughes, and Roy Hughes; a daughter Mrs. Hazel Bizorik, Cleveland; three brothers Louis James and Harry James both of Bolivar, Penn. and John James; three sisters. Mrs Myrtle Garland, Mrs Elsie Garland and Mrs Gertrude Forsha, Blairsville, Pa; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The body will arrive at Dougherty Shawnee Funeral Home tomorrow afternoon.

Agnes Ewing James, 79 of 220 Springhouse Lane, New Wilmington, formerly of Brackenridge, died Monday (May 14, 1991) at 10:15 a.m. in Jameson Hospital, New Castle, after a lingering illness.
She was born Dec. 9, 1910 in Indiana Township.
Mrs. James was an expert seamstress and craftswoman.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Mary Jean) Schneider of Mercer; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Sherman E. James; her parents, James and Jean Caldwell Ewing; Two brothers, David and James; and two sisters, Marion and Jeanie.
Friends will be received Saturday from 10 a.m. in the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, Harrison. Officiating will be the Rev. Robert Mitchell of All Saints Episcopal Church, Pittsburgh. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Associations.

Donald C. James 80, of Fawn died Wednesday (June 14, 2000) in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Harrison.
He was born Nov. 3, 1919 in Bolivar.
A 1938 graduate of Har-Brack High School he was the former owner and operator of James Service Station, Fawn. He also was retired from M. Maskas and Sons, Tarentum.
A veteran of World War II he served in the Army Air Corps.
Mr. James was a member of the Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars, Brackenridge American Legion and a former member of the Outdoor Life Lodge, Fawn.
He enjoyed gardening, bird feeding, hunting, fishing and spending time at his camp in Tionesta.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Eleanor, Dunning, James a daughter, Donna James of Fawn a grandson and two brothers, Richard James of Fawn and Leslie James of Sarver.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert James; his parents Ernest C. and Hazel Muir James; and a brother, Robert L James.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home Inc. 1522 Carlisle St. Natrona Heights where services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Thomas E Brown officiating. Burial will be in Mount Airy Cemetery, Harrison. Brackenridge American Legion will hold memorial services.

Harry James Husband of Gertrude (Johns) James of Bolivar passed away Wednesday April 15, 1953 at 6:55 p.m. at his late home, following an illness of nine months.
Born February 11, 1882 New Florence, Pa a son of the late Jacob and Mary Davis James, he had lived some years at Cherry Tree and Patton, Pa-the past 48 years in Bolivar. He was a member of the Church of Christ of West Bolivar and a Deacon of his church for 15 years, Mr James had been tax collector of Bolivar borough, was a former member of the Borough Council and Junior Mechanics. He was a retired coal miner and a member of Bolivar Local of UMW of A.
Survived by his wife, three sons-Gilbert, Rural Valley, Pa; Lisle, Rural Valley, Pa; Eugene Cleveland, Ohio; a son Harry died in infancy; one daughter Mrs Wilda Gamble passed away six years ago; six grandchildren, one great grandchild; two brothers, Lewis of Tarentum, Pa, John of Louisville, Ky; three sisters Mrs Gertrude Forsha, Blairsville, Mrs Myrtle Garland, Bolivar, Mrs Elsie Garland, Bolivar.
Friends will be received at his late home, Market St, Bolivar, Pa after 7:00 p.m. Thursday and at the church one hour prior to services, which will be conducted Saturday, April 19th at 2:00 p.m. in the Church of Christ, West Bolivar. Mrs. James, Heart Victim at Age 63
A heart attack took the life of a long time Natrona Heights resident this morning (Jan. 31, 1965) when Mrs. Hazel (Muir) James died unexpectedly in her home, 1509 Second St. Death occurred at 1 o'clock.
Mrs. James came to the Heights area in 1926 from Bolivar, where she was born on May 14, 1901 to the late Robert and Jeannette( Wynn) Muir.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Bolivar.
Survivors include her husband: four sons: Donald C. and Richard A. James , Fawn Township: Robert L, Oakland, Md. and Leslie M. North Pike Road, Sarver; two sisters: Mrs. Alice Henderson, Bolivar and Mrs. Lena Stiffey, Pitcairn; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Helen L. James, 72, Mtn Lake Park died Friday March 25, 1994 at the Cuppett-Weeks Nursing Home, Oakland.
Born Dec. 26, 1921 in Oakland she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Clara (Setzer) Warnick. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert L James in 1981.
Survivors include one daughter. Margaret Weggland, Levittown, N. Y.; one son Donald A James, Poolesville; one sister, Lucille Marsh, Oakland; one brother, Forrest Warnick, Millerville; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, where a service was conducted Sunday, March 27, with the Rev. Ralph Reedy officiating.
The body was cremated, with the cremains interred in the Oakland Cemetery.

Jacob James aged 74 years died at Bolivar on December 3. He served his country as a member of Company A 54th regiment, Pennsylvania volunteers, was a member of the G. A. R. Union Veteran Legion and an honorary member of Camp 730, P. O. S. A. of Bolivar and all these organizations attended his funeral.
He is survived by his widow and the following children: Elsie, wife of George Garland, and Lewis and Thomas, of Bolivar; Gertrude wife of Alva Forsha, of Blairsville; Harry of Cherry tree; John of Montana; Maude, wife of J. B. Hughes of Louisville, Ky. and Myrtle wife of W. T. Adams of Salins. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

JACOB JAMES DEAD
Another Veteran of the Fifty-Fourth Regiment Answers Final Summons.

Bolivar, Dec. 9.---The funeral of Jacob James, who died here on Saturday night, took place on Tuesday when services were conducted by the Rev. Oscar B Emerson, pastor of the local M. E. Church. Interment was made in the West Bolivar Cemetery. Mr James' death was due to kidney trouble. He was born near Conemaugh Furnace in 1835 and served throughout the Rebellion of company A, Fifty-fourth Regiment, P. I. V. under the late Capt. John L decker. Mr James enlisted in Johnstown and had an enviable record as a soldier. In September 1864 during an engagement at Winchester, Va. a piece of shell struck him in the face knocking him to the ground. "There goes James" cried one of his comrades, but the brave little soldier immediately jumped to his feet and replied, "He has like Hell" Mr James remained with his company until the summer of 1865. He is survived by his wife and several children.

Jacob James enlisted August 6, 1861, from Westmoreland County, Pa and was mustered into the United States service at Harrisburg, Pa. to serve three years as a private in Company A, 54th Reg. Pa. Vol. Infantry under Capt. John Sutter, and Col. Jacob M. Campbell. the regiment was assigned to the First Brig. 2nd Div. 18th Corp. Army of the Potomac. Jacob James shared his fortunes in all surrenders, as follows: Battle Creek June 1862; guard and picket duty on board O. R. R. until January 1863; engaged Gilmore's Guerillas, Jan. 1864; honorably discharged and re-enlisted as a veteran Feb. 10, 1864 in Comapny A 54th Penns. Vol. Infantry; engaged at New Market, May 15, 1864; New Hope, June 5, 1864; Lexington, June 11, 1864; Lynchburg, June 15, 1864; Oregon. Aug. 22, 1864 where he was wounded over the left eye and sent to McEllen Hospital, Philadelphia for six weeks; regained regiment at Winchester. Engaged at Cedar Creek, Oct. 19, 1864; fall of Petersburg, April 2, 1865; High Bridge, April 6, 1865, where he was captured and sent to Annapoils, Ind. where he remained on parole until finally and honorably discharged May 3, 1865 by reason of the end of the war.

Lewis G. James, 81, of 916 Roup Ave., Brackenridge, died unexpectedly last evening in Fair Winds Convalescent Home, South Buffalo Township.
Mr. James, ill for a month, entered the home Tuesday and seemed in normal health yesterday.
A resident of Bolivar most of his life he moved to Brackenridge 10 years ago.
He was a retired employee of Bethlehem Steel Corp. Johnstown plant and a member of Bolivar Daughters of America.
Mr. James was born on Jan. 18, 1880 in Westmoreland County to the late Jacob and Mary A Davis James.
He leaves two sons; Ernest C. Natrona Heights and Sherman E. Brackenridge, with whom he made his home: three sisters; Mrs. Gertrude Forsha, Blairsville, Mrs. Myrtle Garland and Mrs. Elsie Garland, both of Bolivar, six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. His wife, Mrs. Mary A. James, died in 1950.
Friends may call at the Robert E. Peters Funeral home 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights from 7 to 9 this evening and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Friends will be received in the John A. Featherstone Funeral Home Bolivar, Friday from 7 to 10 p.m. and on Saturday until services at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Fort Palmer Cemetery, Fairfield Township.

Robert Keith "BJ" James, 44, of Carnegie, formerly of Fawn died Thursday (Aug. 13, 1998) in Titusville hospital.
Born Sept. 7, 1953 in Natrona Heights, Harrison, he lived in Fawn before moving to Carnegie.
Mr. James was a 1971 graduate of Highlands High School and a 1973 graduate of Penn State New Kensington, Upper Burrell.
He was a production representative at A.D.P., Findley, for the past 25 years.
Mr. James was a member of the Millerstown United Methodist Church softball team in Fawn.
He was an avid fan of Penn State, especially football, the Penguins and the Steelers. He also enjoyed camping in the Tionesta area.
Survivors include his parents, Donald C. and Eleanor Dunning James of Fawn and a sister, Donna K. James of Fawn.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home Inc. 1522 Carlisle St. Natrona Heights, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Robert L. James, 60, of Shenandoah Avenue, Loch Lynn, Md., formerly of Natrona Heights, died Friday (Jan. 23, 1981) in Garrett County Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 1, 1920, in Bolivar to Ernest C and Hazel Muir James.
Mr James was a partner in Oakland Tire Service for more than 30 years.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Proctor Kildow Post 71 of the American legion.
Survivors include his widow, Helen L Warnick James; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Weggeland of Levittown, NY; one son Donald A James of Poolesville MD; three brothers, Donald C and Richard A both of Tarentum, and Leslie M of Saxonburg; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Sherman E. James, 80, of 220 Springhouse Lane, New Wilmington, and formerly of Brackenridge, died yesterday (March 24, 1989) at 9 a.m. in the Overlook Nursing Home, New Wilmington.
Born Aug. 15, 1906 in Bolivar, Westmoreland County, he was the son of the late Lewis G. and Mary Devlin James.
Mr. James was employed as an assistant superintendent at the bar mill in Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp's Brackenridge Works, retiring in 1971 after 43 years service.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years. Agnes Ewing James of New Wilmington; a daughter Mrs. Richard (Mary Jean) Schneider of Mercer; two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Ernest James and a sister, Maude McMahon.
There will be no public visitation. Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, 1521 Freeport Road Natrona Heights. The Rev. Robert L Mitchell of All Saints Episcopal Church, Pittsburgh will officiate.
The family will meet friends from 11 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park. Lower Burrell. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association.
