He was born March 27, 1911 at Ickesburg RR 1 to the late Clarence H. and Ella F. (Rice) Swartz.
He was a retired livestock dealer and fertilizer salesman for Cramer Fertilizer Co., York; a member of Ickesburg United Church of Christ, Adams Lodge 319 F&AM, New Bloomfield, and a former member of the Ickesburg Lions Club.
Surviving are his wife, Mary E. Wolf Swartz; three daughters, Betty Jane Sheaffer of Ickesburg, Marguerite Barkley of Carlisle and Marcy Wright of Morgantown; two sons, James of Harrisburg and Charles of Ickesburg; two sisters, Sara Snyder of Richfield and Jane Whitmoyer of Camp Hill; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held March 1 in his church.
Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, handled arrangements.
WILSON C. GRAY
He was born May 31, 1918 in Blain to the late Charles O. and Blanche (Boyd) Gray.
He was a retired salesman for Sears-Roebuck in Harrisburg; an Army veteran of World War II; and a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Our Savior, Harrisburg.
He was the widower of Mary Gray, who died in 1981.
Surviving are a daughter, Debra Hagemann of Brunswick, Maine; a sister, Edna Wallace of New Bloomfield; and two grandchildren.
A graveside service was held March 3 in Centre Presbyterian Cemetery, Saville Twp., with the Rev. Anthony C. Hill officiating.

NANCY J. MILLIGAN
She was born Aug. 10, 1943 at Loysville RR 1 to the late John D. and Adalene P. (Ricedorf) Milligan.
She was a domestic home care giver in the Perry County area; a former longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Loysville RR 1, and a recent member of Tressler Memorial Lutheran Church, Loysville.
Surviving are a niece and nephew; a great-nephew; and aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn E. Milligan.
Services were held Feb. 21 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with her nephew, Randy L. Milligan, and the Rev. Richard D. Schoenly officiating. Burial was in the church Cemetery.

NADINE E. LINDQUIST
She was born Aug. 11, 1926 in New Rochelle, N.Y., to the late Elmer T. and Margaret (Bullwinckel) Eustis.
Prior to married life, she taught at Muncy Valley High School, Muncy; was a graduate of New Rochelle High School and a 1948 honors graduate of Gettysburg College; helped organize Cub Scouting in Liverpool and was active in Boy and Girl Scouting; honored in 1996 as volunteer of the year by the Pennsylvania Association of Non-Profit Homes for the Aging; along with her husband, received the Betty Amstutz Memorial Award for Outstanding Social Ministry in 2002 from Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries and Upper Susquehanna Synod, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America; a member of Sharon Lutheran Church, Selinsgrove,where she served on numerous committees; and served as a regular registrar for Red Cross blood drives.
Surviving are her husband of 50 years, the Rev. Dr. Theodore Lindquist Jr.; three sons, Paul T. and Mark T., both of Liverpool RR, and David E. of Harrisburg; a daughter, Sallie M. Lindquist of Selinsgrove; two granddaughters, April M. Wagner of Millerstown RR and Amber N. Lindquist of Liverpool RR; and a great-granddaughter, Corissa Mae Wagner of Millerstown RR.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret and Joan Eustis, and a daughter-in-law, Emma M. Lindquist.
Services were held Feb. 27 in her church with the Rev. William S. Henderson and Bishop A. Donald Main officiating.
Burial was in Orchard Hills Cemetery, Shamokin Dam.

MARY C. GUALANO
She was born July 8, 1920 in Wind Gap.
She was a member of Duncannon Senior Citizens.
She was the widow of Michael J. Gualano Jr.
Surviving are two daughters, Marie O’Donnell of Newport and Patricia Ann; a son, Mathew III of Easton; a sister, Helen Carino of Wind Gap; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson.
Myers Funeral Home, Newport, handled arrangements.
WILLIAM E. PORTZLINE
He was born March 20, 1916 in Liverpool to the late George Albert and Lucy (Murray) Portzline.
He retired in 1976 after 16 years as a welder with Keystone Railway Equipment Company, Camp Hill, and previously worked at Hempt Bros, Inc., Camp Hill, as a truck driver, and at various highway construction companies; educated in Liverpool schools; a member of Bible Baptist Church, Liverpool RR 2, and Liverpool Senior Citizens where he helped organize group trips; a charter and honorary life member of Liverpool Fire Company; served as a deputy game protector for Perry County for many years and served on the former Liverpool police force; and enjoyed gospel music and hunting.
He was the widower of Hazel Marie Clouser Portzline, who died in 1985.
Surviving are his wife, Edna M. Barner Portzline of Liverpool; a son, Robert W. of McAlisterville; nine stepchildren; three grandchildren, Heidi Strawser of McAlisterville, David Portzline of Harrisburg and Jonathan Portzline of Duncannon; 12 stepgrandchildren; two great-granddaughters, Ashley and Gracie Strawser; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Price.
Services were held March 14 in Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool, with the Rev. Robert T. Gray Jr. officiating and the Rev. Cecil Price, his nephew, assisting. Burial was in Liverpool Union Cemetery.
GRACE E. HETRICK
She was born June 18, 1926 in Harrisburg to the late Edwin and Esther (Schrowder) Beck.
She was a faithful wife and mother for 57 years and traveled and sang with her family as the Singing Hetrick Family.
She was the widow of Oden C. Hetrick.
Surviving are a son, David L., and four daughters, Lois L. Hetrick, Joy E. Hetrick, Gladys C. Cash and Faith L. Hetrick, all of Duncannon; a sister, Lily Rauch of Chambersburg; and two stepgrandchildren.
Services were held March 15 in Perry Alliance Church, Shermans Dale, with pastor Patrick Port officiating. Burial was in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

JAMES M. SHANNON
He was a retired special investigator for the Pennsylvania Milk Marketing Board with more than 32 years of law enforcement service; a retired command sergeant major of the Army National Guard; a member of Swatara Church of God, Steelton-Swatara Masonic Lodge 775 F&AM and Tall Cedars of Lebanon.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Thelma “Tweet” Shannon; two daughters, Diana Heintzelman of Enhaut and Tammy Fackler of Camp Hill; his mother, Carolyn Shannon of Elizabethtown; a brother, Jack of Enhaut; a sister, Kathleen Attick of Hummelstown; and five grandchildren, Jessica, Shannon, Jake, Katie and Andy.
A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 22 at his church, 4860 Lindle Road, Harrisburg. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
Stone Funeral Home, Steelton, is handling arrangements.

ALMA K. SHEAFFER
She was born at Millerstown RR 1 to the late John Earl and Estella Esther (Brown) Harris.
She had worked at the Department of Revenue, Harrisburg, and New Bloomfield Dress Factory at Newport. She was educated at the Loysville orphanage school; a 50-year member of St. John (Barner’s) Lutheran Church and a member of Liverpool Ambulance League; and she enjoyed flowers, reading and crossword puzzles.
She was the widow of Edward R. Sheaffer, who died in October of 1982.
Surviving are two sons, William R. of Liverpool RR 1 and David E. of Liverpool; four daughters, Bonnie Kay Strawser of Liverpool and Joyce E. Hockenberry, Pauletta A. Lyter and Mary E. Gebhardt, all of Liverpool RR 1; a brother, William Harris of Scranton; five grandchildren, Douglas Murray, Debra Cameron, Kathy Murray, Angela Palfalvi and Mandy Sheaffer; three great-grandchildren, Joshua Murray, Kalyn D’Errico and Gabrielle Cameron.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Paul Raymond Murray Jr.
Services were held March 16 in her church with the Rev. Peter H. Kuebler officiating. Burial was in the church Cemetery.

JOYCE A. LESHER
She was born Feb. 3, 1921 to the late Nelson and Emma (Shutts) Colyer.
She was retired from the former Eileen Hope Dress Factory, Newport, and attended Newport Assembly of God Church.
She was the widow of Paul E. Lesher.
Surviving are two sons, Edward N. of Enola and Paul W. of Harrisburg; a brother, Richard Colyer of Thompsontown; a sister, Lorraine Colyer of Richfield; and two grandsons.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Paul W. Lesher Jr.
Services were held March 14 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with Revs. Gary Bellis and Tony Hill officiating. Burial was in Newport Cemetery.

CATHERINE E. BRUNNER
She was born Feb. 10, 1909 in Huntingdon County to the late Edward and Mary (Garman) Casner.
She was a member of New Bloomfield United Methodist Church and Mahoney Rebecca Lodge 428, New Bloomfield; a charter member of Perry Chapter 459, Order of Eastern Star; and enjoyed crafts and cooking.
She was the widow of John S. “Bud” Brunner.
Surviving are a daughter, Fay L. Bruaw of St. Thomas; two grandchildren, Karen L. Schock and Michael H. Bruaw II; a great-granddaughter, Kara Schock; and two stepgreat-grandsons, Tyler and Travis Schock.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Leo Casner.
Services were held March 5 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with the Rev. Roz Mason officiating. Burial was in Bloomfield Cemetery.
