CLIFFORD E. DELANCEY
Clifford E. DeLancey, 75, of Philadelphia died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004 at St. Agnes Hospital, Philadelphia.

He was born Sept. 17, 1928 in Saville Twp.

He was retired; attended Duncannon schools; and an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth M. Richards DeLancey; a daughter, Terri Donofrio of New Jersey; and his mother, Amanda V. Fuller of Duncannon.

A memorial service was held Jan. 11 in Ronald C.L. Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon, with the Rev. James E. Rudy officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Duncannon.

BARBARA B. FORNEY
Barbara Blanche Forney, 59, of Newville died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004 in ManorCare Nursing and Rehab, Carlisle.

She was born April 9, 1944 in Newport to the late Berlin Howe and Nellie Mae (Smith) Wright.

She had worked at Knause Foods in Peach Glen and worked part-time for Big Spring School District, and was a 1962 graduate of Newport High School.

She was the widow of Bruce E. Forney, who died Oct. 16, 1999.

Surviving are a son, William L. of Mt. Vernon, Wash.; a brother, Russell M. Wright of New Bloomfield; a sister, Mary Rebert Longstreth of Spring Grove; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held Jan. 10 in Egger Funeral Home, Newville, with the Rev. Thomas Horst officiating. Burial was in Newville Cemetery.

MIRIAM ZEIDERS GIBB
Miriam Zeiders Gibb, 96, formerly of Newport died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004 in Kinkora Pythian Home, Duncannon.

She was born Feb. 6, 1907 in Newport to the late Frank and Ida (Paden) Newlin.

She was the owner of the former Newport Ice Plant and a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Newport, Perry County Historical Society, Newport Public Library and Perry County Fair Association.

She was the widow of Emory B. Zeiders and Stewart V. Gibb.

Surviving are a son, James E. Zeiders of Liverpool; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Fayne Newlin.

Services were held Jan. 10 in her church with the Rev. Irene Friberg-Dussaq officiating. Burial was in Newport Cemetery.

David M. Myers Funeral Home, Newport, handled arrangements.

EARL E. BRANDT
Earl E. Brandt, 77, of Mahanoy Road, Duncannon, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004.

He was born Dec. 14, 1926 in Millerstown to the late Walter and Ada (Miller) Brandt.

He retired in 1986 from PP&L after 37 years of service; was an Air Force veteran of World War II; former Miller Twp. supervisor; a member of Mt. Olivet Church of the Brethren and former member of Perry County Old Iron Collectors; former Little League coach; and enjoyed hunting and camping.

Surviving are his wife, Doris Seeger Brandt; a son, Steven E. of Selinsgrove; four daughters, Nancy E. Stricker of Etters, Debra E. Hockenberry and Judy E. Miller, both of Duncannon, and Trudy E. Gill of Newport; a brother, Donald of Duncannon; a sister, Martha Trout of Landisburg; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lenus and Galen; and two sisters, Betty and Mary Brandt.

Services were held Jan. 12 in his church with the Rev. John Shenk officiating. Burial, with military honors by New Bloomfield VFW and Newport American Legion, was in Newport Cemetery.

MINNIE M. MEISER
Minnie Mae Meiser, 89, formerly of Seven Stars, Millerstown RR 2, Juniata County, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004 in Brookline Manor Nursing Center, Mifflintown RR 1.

She was born April 9, 1914 at Greenwood Twp., Juniata County, to the late Jacob George and Savilla B. (Swartz) Pyle.

She retired after 22 years as a seamstress for East Salem Shirt Factory, and assisted her husband in farming; educated at Center Grammar School, Juniata County; a member of Turkey Valley United Methodist Church, Millerstown RR 2, and a former member of Greenwood Grange, Millerstown RR 2; and enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and crocheting.

She was the widow of Paul Joel Meiser, who died March 11, 1994.

Surviving are two sons, George E. of McAlisterville RR 1 and Harold S. of Mt. Pleasant Mills RR 1; two daughters, Mary Ann Amey of HCR 63, Mifflintown, and Polly J. Helwig of Millerstown RR 2; nine grandchildren; two stepgranddaughters; 10 great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by six brothers, Adam, Elmer, John, Samuel, Howard and Clarence Pyle; and five sisters, Amey Pontius, Mary Ellen Shellenberger, Maria Wochley, Genella Spade and Dorothy Swartz.

Services were held Jan. 7 in Richfield Mennonite Church with the Rev. G. Phillip May officiating and pastor Jerry R. O’Connell assisting. Burial was in Richfield Union Cemetery.

Garman Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant Mills, handled arrangements.

ELLEN E. BUCKWALTER
Ellen E. Buckwalter, 92, of Miller Twp., Newport, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004 in Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.

She was born Aug. 16, 1911 in New Berlin to the late Martin Luther and Katie (Beaver) Predix.

She was retired from the state Department of Transportation.

She was the widow of Charles W. Buckwalter.

Surviving are four daughters, Helen Haines and Frances Mc-Naughton, both of Newport, Donna Stahl of New Cumberland and Mary Krick of Duncannon; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Christine Krick; a son, Marlin; and two brothers, Raymond L. Predix and Willard A. Wilson.

Burial was in New Berlin Cemetery.

HORACE HOFFMAN
Horace “Hoff” Hoffman, 86, of Yardley died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004.

He was born in Duncannon to the late Robert N. and Martha (Fritz) Hoffman. He had been a resident of Yardley for 65 years.

He worked for Luscombe Airplane Company and was plant manager in Garland, Texas, and a member of its board of directors, and also worked at Kaiser in Bristol, Pa., and Transamerica De la Val in Trenton, N.J.

He was a graduate of Duncannon High School and Luscombe School of Aeronautics; earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1932; served in the honor guard at the first inauguration of President Franklin Roosevelt; a member of Crescent Shrine String Band and served as their business manager for many years; and enjoyed building and flying planes.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Doris Ettenger Hoffman; a son, Ted of Yardley; a brother, Ron of Palm Court, Fla.; a sister, Janet Smithgall of Duncannon; a granddaughter, Caitlyn of Yardley; and friends, Ed, Linda, Jim and Dave D’Orlando.

Services were held Jan. 8 in Yardley United Methodist Church. Burial was in Newtown Cemetery.

WALTER A. MCNAUGHTON
Walter A. McNaughton, 91, of Ickesburg and formerly of Duncannon, Mechanicsburg and Ft. Charlotte, Fla., died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004 at Stonebridge Health and Rehab Center, Duncannon.

He was born Jan. 30, 1912 in Greenwood Twp. to the late Harry and Mary (Rohm) McNaughton.

He was a retired farmer and retired from the former Harrisburg Steel, and attended Christian and Missionary Alliance Church and Baptist Church.

He was the widower of Mildred Freeland McNaughton.

Surviving are his wife, Ida Rice McNaughton; children, Phillis J. Jacobs of Brooksville, Fla., Joe McNaughton of Duncannon, Gwendolyn K. Scott of Littlestown; a stepson, John E. Shotsberger of Bridgeton, N.J.; two brothers, Harry Jr. of Millerstown and Bruce of Carlisle; a sister, Doris Leib of Mechanicsburg; seven grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a stepgreat-grandchild.

Services were held Jan. 10 in Ronald C.L. Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon, with the Rev. Simon Lehman officiating. Burial was in Rolling Green Memorial Garden, Camp Hill.

DORSEY A. ROLAND
Dorsey A. Roland, 73, of Duncannon died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004 at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.

He was born Dec. 31, 1930 in Cass Twp., Huntingdon County to the late Dorsey R. and Florence (Hoover) Roland.

He was retired from Roadway Express; an Air Force veteran of the Korean War; and a member of Roseglen United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 340 and VFW Post 255, Duncannon.

Surviving are his wife, Edna Forshey Roland; children, Faith M. Burris of Kentucky, Karen E. Barber of Florida, Craig S. Roland of Manns Choice, Dorsey C. Roland of Alaska, Rose M. Allison of York, Duane F. Oakes Jr. of Martinsburg, Paul J. Oakes of Reynoldsville and Kathileen L. Roush and Faith A. Spitler, both of Duncannon; two sisters, Myrtle Romine of Mt. Union and Monetta Kline of Mifflin; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and seven sisters.

Services were held Jan. 9 in Ronald C.L. Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon, with the Rev. Randall Goshorn and Dorsey C. Roland officiating. Burial, with military honors by VFW Post 255 and American Legion Post 340, was in Duncannon Cemetery.

MARY K. SOPER
Mary K. Soper, 90, of Kinkora Pythian Home, Duncannon, and formerly of Landisburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003 in Harrisburg Hospital.

She was born Jan. 9, 1913 at Landisburg RR 1 to the late Jacob L. and Mabel J. (Lightner) Sheibley.

She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Landisburg.

She was the widow of Rollin D. Soper, who died Nov. 10, 1981.

Surviving are nine nieces and nephews; 13 great-nieces and nephews; 15 great-great-nieces and nephews; and six great-great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five sisters, her twin sister Emma Hoover, Louise Branham, Ruby Emlet, Sarah Duncan and Betty Sheibley; and a brother, David Sheibley.

A graveside service was held Jan. 3 in St. Peter’s United Church of Christ Cemetery, Landisburg RR 1.

Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, handled arrangements.

HARRY L.C. BLOSE
Harry L.C. Blose, 78, of Cove died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004 in Kinkora Pythian Home, Duncannon.

He was a retired warehouse supervisor at the former New Cumberland Army Depot; a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War; past two-term commander of Duncannon American Legion; and a life member of Perdix Fire Company and a member of Marysville Lions Club and VFW Post 882, Marysville.

Surviving are his wife, Violet R. Eppley Blose; two sons, Harry L.C. Jr. of Marysville and Gary L. of Delaware; two daughters, Brenda L. Erdman of Marysville and Caroline R. Blose of Dillsburg; three sisters, Mabel Wilheim of Martinsville, Ind., Lucille Zeiders of Hummelstown and Audrey Kohl of Palmyra; two brothers, Ralph of Palmyra and Earl of Hummelstown; and six grandchildren.

Services were held Jan. 16 in Shalonis Funeral Home, Marysville. Burial was in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
