Pearl LaRue Moyer, 63, of S. Dock Street, Newport, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998 in Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg.
She was born Aug. 8, 1935 in Oliver Twp. to the late John R. and Helen E. (Barrick) Turnbaugh. She had worked for the state Bureau of Licensing, Duffy and Motts Cannery and Sylvania Shoe Manufacturing; collected porcelain dolls; and was a member of St. Samuel Lutheran Church and Millerstown Moose Lodge 925.
Surviving are three sons, Richard D., Randy A. and Michael A., all of Newport; seven brothers, Harold, Robert, M.E. "Gene", Carl, Donald, Kenneth and Charles Turnbaugh, all of Newport; two sisters, Helen Reigle and Betty Clouser, both of Newport; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 27 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with the Rev. Arthur Steckel officiating. Burial was in Newport Cemetery.
Richard A. "Button" Myers Sr., 56, of Landisburg RR 1 died Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998 at home.
He was born Oct. 4, 1942 at Spruce Creek, Huntingdon County, to Lorene (Cronemiller) Myers of Spruce Creek and the late Lester Myers Sr.
He formerly worked at Carolina Freight, Carlisle; was a member of the Army Reserves and Schaefferstown Historic Association; entered horses in plowing competitions; and enjoyed activities with his grandchildren.
In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife, Linda J. Philage Myers; two sons, Richard A. Jr. of Mechanicsburg and Dustin J. of Shermans Dale; a daughter, C. Yvette Myers-Hanks of Mechanicsburg; two sisters, Donna Gill of Shippensburg and Mary Fink of Spruce Creek; and five grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 29 in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, with the Rev. E. Levain Fouse and Paul Anderson officiating. Burial was in St. Peter's United Church of Christ Cemetery, Landisburg RR 1.

Arthur L. Messinger, 83, of Lock Haven RR 2 died at Lock Haven Hospital, Monday, Aug. 31, 1998.
He was born Oct. 4, 1914 in Marysville to the late Roy and Kathryne (Sherry) Messinger.
He worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps camp in Loganton at the former Bloomsburg Silk Mill in Lock Haven; was a brakeman for the former Pennsylvania Railroad in Enola; and was a foreman in the finishing department of Hammermill Paper Company of Lock Haven from 1945 until retiring in 1972 with 27 years of service. He was a 1934 graduate of Marysville High School; a life member of Giosue Carducci Lodge 146 Sons of Italy, Lock Haven; and a member of the Woolrich Square Dancing Club of Woolrich.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Lucy DelGrippo Messinger; one daughter, Carol K. Kirkbride of Mansfield, Ohio; a half-sister, Mildred Whitebread of New Cumberland; a half-brother, Richard of Marysville; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary C. Barone, who died July 29, 1993, and Gayle M. Bowman, who died Nov. 13, 1986. Services were held Sept. 3 in Moriarty-Dutcavich Funeral Home, Lock Haven, with Mrsg. Dennis R. Boggs officiating. Burial was in St. Mary Cemetery, Lock Haven.

Arletta L. Metzger, 83, of Newport RR 2 died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1998 in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
She retired from the Eileen Hope dress factory and was a member of Newport Church of God.
She was the widow of C. Arthur Metzger.
Surviving are a son, Ray A. of Newport, and a grandson.
Services were held Sept. 12 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport. Burial was in Newport Cemetery.
Bruce E. Manning, 82, of Shelton, Conn., died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 1998 in Bishop Wicke Health and Rehab Center.
He was born in Marysville, and resided in Trumbull, Conn., for more than 40 years before moving to Shelton.
He was retired from Perkin-Elmer where he was a member of the Foreman's Club; was a master sergeant in the Army in World War II; and a member of Trumbull Senior Citizens and the Newport VFW.
Surviving are his wife, Marie Shanabrough Manning; two sons, Richard of Stratford, Conn., and Ronald of Derby, Conn.; four sisters, Lydia Manning and Stella Souers, both of Newport, Rebecca Dunn of Enola and Louise Peck of Orlando, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Jason, Derick, Adam and Kelly Lynn Manning.
Services were held Feb. 27 in Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, Trumbull, with the Rev. Joseph Piccirillo officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Betty J. Minich, 80, of C Street, Carlisle, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 1998 in ManorCare Health Services, Carlisle.
She was born Aug. 23, 1918 in New Germantown to the late Wilmer R. and Claire G. (Gring) Mumper.
She was a graduate of Blain Vocational School and the Harrisburg School of Beauty Culture; a former employee of Just Right Beauty Parlor, Carlisle, Carlisle School District and Capital Area Intermediate Unit; and a member of First United Methodist Church, Carlisle, and its Mabel Wierman Bible Class.
Surviving are a son, Eric M. of Carlisle; a daughter, Kathy A. Koppen of Carlisle; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Mumper.
Services were held Sept. 25 in Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, Carlisle, with the Rev. John L. Shellenberger Jr. officiating. Burial was in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.

Richard L. Hostetter, 69, of New Germantown died Monday, March 23, 1998 in Carlisle Hospital.
He was born June 13, 1928 at Blain RR 1 to the late Edward T. and Sarah K. (Britcher) Hostetter.
He was retired from the former C. H. Masland & Sons, Carlisle, and formerly farmed and worked for Hempt Brother's, Camp Hill. He was a member of New Germantown United Methodist Church, Blain Fire Company, Blain Ambulance Club and Blain Sportsmen's Club.
Surviving are his wife, Helen E. Flickinger Hostetter; a daughter, Linda K. Gilbert of Carlisle; two sons, Ronnie L. Hostetter of Enola and Rickie L. Hostetter, at home; three brothers, William M. Hostetter of Blain, George L. Hostetter of Carlisle and Emory D. Hostetter of Newville; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth L. Reeder, and three brothers, Wayne H., Paul E. and Robert F. Hostetter.
Services were held March 26 in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, with the Revs. Dale W. Dobbs and Francis P. Yarlett officiating. Burial was in Blain Cemetery.

Carmel V. Mutzabaugh Sr., 54, of Miller Twp., Newport RR 2, died Saturday, May 16, 1998, at home.
He was born March 22, 1944 in Wheatfield Twp. to John Mutzabaugh of Duncannon and the late Emma Mutzabaugh.
He was an employee of Commonwealth Concrete, Harrisburg.
In addition to his father, surviving are his wife, Kim Mutzabaugh; three sons, Carmel Jr. of Millerstown, Keith of Newport and Dezoir of Florida; a stepson, Jeremy Weldon of Newville; three daughters, Pam and Tonya, both of Millerstown, and Amber, at home; four brothers, Ken, John, Vern and Forrest, all of Duncannon; five sisters, Virginia Vinette, Geraldine McCrone and Myrtle Smith, all of Duncannon, Annie Busfield of Newport and Effie Shupp of Harrisburg; five grandchildren; and a stepgrandson.
Services were held May 19 in Boyer Funeral Home, Duncannon, with the Rev. Harry Roush officiating. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery, Miller Twp.
Elreta B. Mullen, 87, of Spring Road, Shermans Dale, died Monday, Nov. 16, 1998 in Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.
She was born Oct. 11, 1911 in Carroll Twp. to the late Harry and Mary (Stouffer) Parkison.
She was a member of Mount Gilead United Methodist Church, Shermans Dale.
She was the widow of G. Homer Mullen, who died in 1997.
Surviving are three sons, George O. and Roger A., both of Shermans Dale, and Charles A. of Greencastle; a brother, James Parkison of New Bloomfield; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth D., who died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998 in Florida.
Graveside services were held Nov. 19 in Mount Gilead Cemetery with the Rev. Kenneth E. Miller officiating.
Boyer Funeral Home, New Bloomfield, handled arrangements.
Elsie May, 69, of N. High Street, New Buffalo, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998 at home.
She was born May 9, 1928 in Duncannon to the late Joseph and Catherine (Harmon) Smith.
She retired from the Duncannon Dress Co. and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Duncannon, Duncannon American Legion Auxiliary and the Watts-Buffalo Community Center.
Surviving are four sons, Harry, Scott, Thomas and Todd Houck, all of Duncannon; three daughters, Joan Loudon, Ruth Ann Harper and Judy Schrieber, all of Duncannon; three brothers, Max Smith of Texas, Robert Smith of Utah and Harmon Smith of East Stroudsburg; 11 grandchildren; a stepgranddaughter; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Malinda, and a son, Russell Houck.
Services were held in Boyer Funeral Home, Duncannon, with the Rev. Aden Wertz officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Duncannon.
