He was born Dec. 14, 1942 to Anna B. Lukens and the late William E. Lukens Jr.
He was employed by the Association of Humanistic Psychology, a nonprofit organization; an Army veteran; and a graduate of Susquenita High School and Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove.
In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife, Bonnie Davenport; two daughters, Heather Lukens Gavin of Los Angeles, Calif., and Robyn Lukens of Visalia, Calif.; a brother, Harry B. Lukens Sr. of Newport; three sisters, Gloria A. Corson of Williamsport, and Alice B. Byers and Cheryl K. Shiffer, both of Duncannon RR 4; and a granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 5, in Watts-Buffalo Community Center, Duncannon RR 4.

NORMA PEROVICH
She was born July 1, 1931 in Westmoreland County to the late Henry G. and Julia (Faring) Myers.
She was the widow of Chester J. Perovich, who died in 2000.
Surviving are a son, Michael of Flemington, N.J.; a daughter, Debra Sesta of Point Pleasant; and four grandchildren.
A graveside service was held Nov. 16 in Bloomfield Cemetery with the Rev. Arthur Montgomery officiating.
Boyer Funeral Home, New Bloomfield handled arrangements.
JOSEPH P. HENRY
He was born Feb. 10, 1948 in Philadelphia to the late Frank and Fran (Lewis) Henry.
He was an auditor for the Pennsylvania State Insurance Department and formerly was employed by Highmark in Camp Hill, and a member of Cumberland Valley Corvette Club.
Surviving are his wife, E. Lea Henry of Duncannon; two sons, Bryan D. of East Stroudsburg and Karl J. of New Cumberland; and a sister, Lisa Ritinski of North Wales.
Services were held Nov. 15 in Boyer Funeral Home, Duncannon, with Mattie Nash, hospice chaplain, officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Duncannon.

MARY M. MOYER
She was born April 30, 1949 in Mechanicsburg to the late Fred Elsworth and Lois Jean (Bowersox) Mixell.
She enjoyed camping, cooking and attending Sherman’s Valley Heritage Days.
Surviving are a son, Christopher A. Jacobs of Enola; two brothers, Wayne Mixell of California and Joe Mixell of Shiremanstown; three sisters, Jacquelin Tyson of Mechanicsburg, and Patti McDermott and Maxine Espenshade, both of New Cumberland; two granddaughters, Taylor and Paige Jacobs; and her companion of 13 years, Dean Zeigler.
Services were held Nov. 11 in Neill Funeral Home, Camp Hill.

KAREN KEPHART
She was born Sept. 23, 1948 in Warren to Helen Chappal Clark of Warren and the late Gifford N. Clark.
She was employed at Verizon, Harrisburg, and had worked for Bell Telephone Co. and Fulton Bank. She was a member of Marysville Lions Club.
In addition to her mother, surviving are her husband, Stephen A. Kephart; two daughters, Emily F. Kephart and Rachel L. Kephart, both at home; a sister, Sherry L. Johnson of Warren; two brothers, Karl G. Clark of Erie and Norris S. Clark of Warren; and her stepmother, Joyce Anderson Clark of Warren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Ross N. Clark.
A memorial service was held Nov. 13 in Shalonis Funeral Home, Marysville. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery, Warren.
VERDA M. SHAFFER
She was born Sept. 26, 1934, in Landisburg to the late Alvin Hoover and Mary Louise (Barkley) Clouse.
She worked as a legal secretary for, and later retired from, the United States Department of Justice, Civil Division, in Washington, D.C.; and enjoyed gardening, reading and her beach home in Fenwick Island, Del.
She was the widow of John Randal “Scoog” Shaffer, who died Nov. 10, 1998.
Surviving are two daughters, Tracey Shaffer Carey of Oakton, Va., and Tory Colene Botten of Centreville, Va.; a son, Tod Randal Shaffer of Chantilly, Va.; three brothers, William Barkley Clouse of Landisburg, Gerald Franklin Clouse of New Bloomfield and Terry Lee Clouse of Elliottsburg; two sisters, Peggy Lou Morrison and Nancy Clouse Bell, both of Landisburg; five grandchildren, Caitlin and Ryan Carey of Oakton, Va., and Christy, Alex and Kelly Botten of Centreville, Va.; and two sons-in-law, Edward Carey and Michael Botten.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale Alvin and Eugene Harvey Clouse.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 27, in New Hope United Church of Christ, Landisburg.

MILDRED S. SHEAFFER
She was born Sept. 19, 1922 at Duncannon to the late Lloyd and Ethel Simonton.
She had worked at Erie Frequency Control, Carlisle; had attended Young’s United Methodist Church, Shermans Dale; and enjoyed reading and the outdoors.
Surviving is her husband of 58 years, Lester “Jim” Sheaffer.
Services were held Nov. 10 in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, with the Rev. Jeffrey Brewster officiating. Burial was in Mt. Gilead Cemetery, Shermans Dale.
E. SAMUEL SNYDER
He was born June 9, 1921 in Harrisburg to the late Stanley A. and Irene (Fitzgerald) Snyder.
He established the Red Rabbit Drive-In in 1964; a Merchant Marine veteran during World War II; a member of Duncannon Presbyterian Church, a Board Sessions member and conducted a weekly physical fitness outreach program at the church; and after retiring pursued a career in photography and also enjoyed ballroom dancing.
He was the widower of Margaret Cleland Snyder.
Surviving are a daughter, Cindy M. Berger of Duncannon; a son, Samuel B. of Pagosa Springs, Colo.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Richard Snyder.
A memorial service was held Nov. 15 in his church with the Rev. Dr. Krisana Poontajak-DeWitt and Daniel Hadik officiating. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, at the convenience of the family.

HELEN M. YOUNGHEIN
She was born April 1, 1912 in Folsom, N.M., to the late Juanita Valencia and Patricio Martinez.
She was the widow of Armando Vasquez, Juan C. Garcia and George H. Younghein.
She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, New Bloomfield, and enjoyed traveling, quilting and playing cards and bingo.
Surviving are two daughters, Rebecca R. Gardner of Las Cruces, N.M., and Sandra Kearns of New Bloomfield; a son, Patrick Garcia of Madera, Calif.; a sister, Maria Patricia Carnahan of Summerville, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Regina R. Wasson, Henry M. Gardner, Elena Sweeney, Juan Gardner, Michaela Gardner, Michelle Kearns-Young and Melanie E. Stuber; and 12 great-grandchildren, Ashley Gardner, Riley Wasson, Jace Wasson, Jacob Gardner, Chelsea Kearns, Livia Charman, Lucia Charman, Sierra R. Sweeney, Kendrick Gardner, Isabella Viancia Gardner, Roman Gabriel Gardner and Amalia Ysidora Gardner.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Nov. 16 in her church. Burial was in Santa Fe National Cemetery, Sante Fe, N.M.

LESTER AUGHENBAUGH
Leander Aughenbaugh, 82, of Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle, died Sunday, May 31, 1998 in Forest Park Health Center.
He was born Jan. 2, 1916 in Waynesboro to the late Lyman K. and Birdie (Duble) Aughenbaugh.
He was a former appliance repairman and farmer in Perry County. Surviving are his wife, Viola B. Smith Aughenbaugh; three sons, Corrin L. of Mechanicsburg, James R. of Virginia and J. Roger of Downingtown; two brothers, Seymour D. and Wendell D., both of Shermans Dale; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lois M. Aughenbaugh, who died in 1953. Services were held June 3 in Mount Gilead Church, Shermans Dale, with the Rev. Tony A. Derosa officiating.
Burial was in the church Cemetery.
Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, handled arrangements.
LOIS H. AITKEN
Lois H. Aitken, 84, of N. Fifth Street, Newport, died Friday, Oct. 2, 1998 at home.
She was born Oct. 28, 1914 in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Robert Colgate and Roberta (Fisher) Howard.
She was an avid bridge player, horse racing enthusiast and animal lover and a member of RV camping clubs.
She was the widow of John M. Aitken.
Surviving is a brother, Stephen C. Howard of New Castle, Maine.
Myers Funeral Home, Newport, handled arrangements.

FERN W. ALBRIGHT
She was born Jan. 21, 1920 in Juniata County.
She attended Mannsville Lutheran Church and was a member of Community Grange.
She was the widow of Robert William Albright.
Surviving are four sons, Perry R. Albright of Newport, James Moretz of Oklahoma, Jack Moretz of Texas and Byron Moretz of Florida; a daughter, Juniata Albright of Alabama; a brother, Kermit Dressler of Lewisberry; 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 27 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with the Rev. Arthur Steckel officiating. Burial was in Hill Cemetery, Duncannon.
