Lois H. Aitken, 84, of N. Fifth Street, Newport, died Friday, Oct. 2, 1998 at home.
She was born Oct. 28, 1914 in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Robert Colgate and Roberta (Fisher) Howard.
She was an avid bridge player, horse racing enthusiast and animal lover and a member of RV camping clubs.
She was the widow of John M. Aitken.
Surviving is a brother, Stephen C. Howard of New Castle, Maine.
Myers Funeral Home, Newport, handled arrangements.

Dorothy E. Alandar, 64, of Duncannon RR 1, formerly of Enola, died Wednesday, July 22, 1998 in Evangelical Hospital, Lewisburg.
Surviving are her husband, Willis "Sid" Alandar; two daughters, Deborah L. Newland of Brooksville, Fla., and Diana L. Gamble of Virginia Beach, Va.; three sons, Robert L. Bitting of Lewisberry, Richard A. Alandar of Marysville and Stephen W. Alandar of Enola; two sisters, Eleanor C. Mutch of Summerdale and Lois B. Quigley of Camp Hill; a brother, Dennis R. Bell of New Port Richey, Fla.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held July 26 in Shalonis Funeral Home, Marysville.

Fern W. Albright, 78, formerly of Newport RR 2, died Friday, Sept. 25, 1998 in Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.
She was born Jan. 21, 1920 in Juniata County.
She attended Mannsville Lutheran Church and was a member of Community Grange.
She was the widow of Robert William Albright.
Surviving are four sons, Perry R. Albright of Newport, James Moretz of Oklahoma, Jack Moretz of Texas and Byron Moretz of Florida; a daughter, Juniata Albright of Alabama; a brother, Kermit Dressler of Lewisberry; 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 27 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with the Rev. Arthur Steckel officiating. Burial was in Hill Cemetery, Duncannon.

Ralph E. "Gene" Anderson, 82, of Main Street, Blain, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998 in Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.
He was born Dec. 6, 1916 at New Germantown to the late George W. and Elsie M. (Boltosser) Anderson.
He was a retired farmer and a member of the Blain Ambulance Club.
Surviving are three nephews and three great-nephews.
Services were held Dec. 19 in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, with the Rev. Kathleen G. Coleman officiating. Burial was in Blain Cemetery.
Robert Clayton "Andy" Anderson, 77, of N. Front Street, Boiling Springs, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 1998 in Carlisle Hospital.
He was born May 12, 1921 in Chicago, Ill. to the late Irwin Anderson and the late Mildred Mouer Anderson Prudue.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in San Antonio, Texas, England, France and Germany. He retired in 1976 after 30 years of service as an equipment specialist at Mechanicsburg Naval Supply Depot. He retired from working at Giant Foods of Camp Hill and Carlisle with 14 years of service. He worked at Nell's Markets at both Spring Road and Walnut Bottom locations for the past eight years as the primary sign designer. He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Boiling Springs, serving as custodian for nine years and was on the administrative board, bell ringer, communion usher, head of altar guild, trustee and an usher; and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8851, Boiling Springs.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Josephine D. Hess Anderson; a daughter, Sandra M. Gutshall of Carlisle; a son, Robert C. Anderson II of New Bloomfield; three granddaughters; and three grandsons.
Services were Oct. 21 in his church with the Rev. Dr. David L. Reed officiating. Burial, with military honors, was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Monroe Twp.

Sarah M.E. Anderson, 83, of Blain died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998 in Green Ridge Village, Newville.
She was born April 1, 1915 in New Germantown to the late George W. and Elsie M. (Boltosser) Anderson.
She was a farmer and a member of Blain Zion Lutheran Church and its Blain Ladies Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, and the Blain Ambulance Club.
Surviving are a brother, Ralph E. Anderson of Blain; three nephews; and three great-nephews.
Services were held Aug. 22 in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, with pastor Kathleen Coleman officiating. Burial was in Blain Cemetery.

Dorothy Irene Anthony, 53, of Landisburg RR 1, died Sunday, June 21, 1998 at Harrisburg Hospital.
She was born Oct. 20, 1944 at Loysville RR 1.
She was a housewife and a former employee of Kinney Shoes, Carlisle. She was a member of St Peter's United Church of Christ, Landisburg.
Surviving are her husband, Robert E. Anthony; a son, Jeffrey A. Anthony, at home; her parents, David Alvin and Charlotte Virginia (Hess) Nace of Landisburg RR 1; four brothers, Clyde Nace of Elliottsburg, Raymond Nace and Charles Nace, both of Landisburg, and Dennis Nace of Newville; three sisters, Ruthann Hysick of Shippensburg, Donna Varner of Carlisle and Brenda Metz of Shermans Dale; and one grandson, Brent A. Anthony.
Services were held June 24 at her church with the Revs. George C. Martz and E. Levain Fouse officiating. Burial was in the church Cemetery.
Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, handled arrangements.

Judith A. Appleby, 56, of New Bloomfield RR 2 died Friday, Sept. 18, 1998 in Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg.
Surviving are her husband, Charles E. Appleby III, and a daughter, Vickie, both of New Bloomfield; a son, Michael of Camp Hill; her mother, Elizabeth Shadle of Lykens; a sister, Jean Lesher of Halifax; and a granddaughter, Kyra Appleby.
Services were held Sept. 22 in Boyer Funeral Home, New Bloomfield, with the Rev. Anthony Hill officiating. Burial was in Bloomfield Cemetery.
