Dorothy M. Beaston, 89, of Nipple Convalescent Home, Liverpool, formerly of Loysville RR 1, died Thursday, June 4, 1998 in the home.
She was born Feb. 17, 1909 to the late Daniel and Clara (Fritz) Hess.
She was the widow of Glenn A. Beaston.
Surviving are a son, Glenn H. of Seattle, Wash.; a sister, S. Lenore Sheriff of Mechanicsburg; 10 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Services were held June 8 in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, with the Rev. Donald J. Brown officiating. Burial was in Blain Cemetery.
George R. Beck, 85, formerly of Marysville, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998 in Marietta, Ga.
He retired as director of purchasing for AMP, Inc., Harrisburg; was a former member of Marysville Borough Council; and a member of Zembo Temple, Marysville Lions Club and Zion Lutheran Church and former superintendent of its council.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth N. Beck; two sons, George R. Jr. and Gerald L., both of Georgia; and a sister, Virginia Welland of Allentown. Services were held in Georgia.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society.
Staci Ann Evelyn Bell, 27, of S. Main Street, Marysville, died Wednesday, March 4, 1998 in Delaware County Memorial Hospital.
She had been a painter.
Surviving are her parents, James M. and Goldie M. Shearer Bell, and her paternal grandmother, Anna R. Bell, all of Marysville; two brothers, James M. of Marysville and David E. of Duncannon; two nieces; and two nephews.
Services were held March 9 in Shalonis Funeral Home, Marysville. Burial was in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Marysville.

Lester P. Bender, 81, of Landisburg RR 1 died Monday, Jan. 12, 1998 in Carlisle Hospital.
He was born Oct. 10, 1916 at Ickesburg to the late Brady P. and Gertrude (Hockenberry) Bender.
He was retired from Carlisle Tire & Rubber Co.; a former employee of Hill's Department Store, Carlisle; an Army veteran of World War II; attended Landisburg Church of God; and was a member of Landisburg Fire Company and Ambulance Club.
Surviving are his wife, Inez C. Shanafelter Bender; a son, David W., at home; a daughter, Nancy Sherman of Landisburg RR 2; two brothers, Harold of Blain and Donald of Fayetteville; a sister, Sara V. McNaughton of Ohio; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vivian K. Bender.
Services were held Jan. 14 in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, with the Rev. Michael A. Witmer officiating. Burial was in Blain Cemetery.

Mildred A. Gayman Benfer, 83, formerly of Marysville, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 1998 in Kinkora Pythian Home, Duncannon.
She was a social member of VFW Post 882, Marysville. She was the widow of Raymond S. Benfer.
Surviving are a stepdaughter, Jean M. Snyder of Marysville; a stepson, Guy D. of Shermans Dale; a sister, Alice Leedy of Columbia, S.C.; and four step-grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 23 in Shalonis Funeral Home, Marysville. Burial was in Samuel's Union Cemetery, McClure RR.

Galen Ray Berger, 47, of West Pennsboro Twp., Newville, formerly of Lewisburg, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998 at home.
He was born May 8, 1950 in Lewisburg to Arla G. (Kartzer) Berger and the late Keith E. Berger.
He was a 1968 graduate of Lewisburg Area High School; a 1972 graduate of Millersville University, and received a master's degree from Shippensburg University in 1974; was a state award winning wrestler in high school and college; a retired graphic arts teacher from Big Spring High School, Newville; a former middle school wrestling coach; founder of Jet Copy Center in Shippensburg; owner/operator of Berger Vending Services, Newville; member of First United Presbyterian Church, Newville, and member of its education committee, and a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association and the Optimists.
In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife, R. Toni Sperl Berger; a daughter, Carrie M. Berger, at home; a son, Levi X. Berger, at home; a sister, Gloria A. Beckley of Lewisburg; and three brothers, Dale K., Mark S. and Brian S., all of Lewisburg.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter E. Services were held Feb. 3 in Dreisbach United Church of Christ, Lewisburg, with the Revs. Michael Romig and Robert L. Rhoades officiating. Burial was in the church Cemetery.

Robert L. Bailey, 76, of Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle, died Friday, Oct. 16, 1998 in Carlisle Hospital.
He was born Nov. 21, 1921 in Carlisle to the late J. William and Jean (Hoffman) Bailey.
He was a 1938 graduate of Carlisle High School and attended Shippensburg State Teachers College. He was an executive vice president at Daily Express, Carlisle, with 35 years of service where he also was involved with Penbrook Hauling. He was a Navy veteran of World War II in the South Pacific Theatre as an aviator. After his military service, he became a professional photographer and managed the former Photo Greetings Camera Shop, Carlisle.
He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carlisle, St. Johns Lodge 260 F&AM, St. Johns Commandry; Zembo Temple. He was a former school board director, United Way board director, Elks Lodge 578, Carlisle, Carlisle Fish and Game Association, past president and member of Harrisburg Traffic Club, Delta Nu Alpha Transportation Fraternity, Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association, and a founding member of the Bailey Golf Club, Carlisle.
He was the widower of Helen Stambaugh Bailey.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara J. Weller of Shelby, N.C.; three sons, Robert D. and William L., both of Carlisle, and Barry E. of Ft. Collins, Colo.; a brother, Dr. J. William of Greensburg; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, J. Kenneth, and a sister, Zelda Wiker. Services were held Oct. 19 in Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, Carlisle, with the Rev. George W. Yoder officiating. Burial was in Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle.

Donald R. "Benny" Bennett, 49, of Liverpool RR 2, Buffalo Twp., died Thursday, April 23, 1998 in Hershey Medical Center as the result of a March 13 traffic accident in Silver Spring Twp. Cumberland County.
He was born Dec. 5, 1948 in Juniata County to Winifred (Shover) Bennett of Newport and the late Arthur Bennett.He was a farmer, a utilityman for Motor Truck Equipment Co., Carlisle, and a former dock worker for Capital Products, Mechanicsburg; a 1968 graduate of Newport High School; and a member of West Shore First Assembly of God, Enola, Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 2058, York, and the Liverpool Ambulance League.
In addition to his mother, surviving are three daughters, Edith A. Dunn of Pottstown, Melissa A. Bennett, at home, and Lindsie A. Bennett of Newport; three brothers, Robert of Pinellas Park, Fla., K. Barry of Duncannon and Dennis of Liverpool RR 1; and a sister, Margaret Bowersox of Millerstown RR 1.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Wallace Bennett; and a sister, Nancy Shutt.
Services were held April 25 in Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool, with the Rev. Timothy A. Halbfoerster officiating. Burial was in Hunter's Valley Cemetery, Liverpool RR 2.
