NELSON T. BURD SR.
Nelson T. Burd Sr., 66, of N. Lincoln Street, Duncannon, died Saturday, April 4, 1998 in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
He was born Sept. 1, 1931 in Speeceville to the late Irene Thomas Proudfoot.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Duncannon, Sheet Metal Workers International Local 19, Philadelphia, Perry Lodge 458 F&AM, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Juniata Forest 88, Duncannon Golden Age Club, Duncannon High School Alumni Association, Duncannon American Legion Post 310 and Duncannon VFW Post 255. He served with the Army 3rd Infantry Division during the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife, Betty J. Stone Burd; a son, N. Thomas Jr. of New Bloomfield; three daughters, Susan K. Cliber, Betsy A. Kirkhoff and Kathryn I. Bauer, all of Duncannon; and 12 grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, April 9, in his church with the Rev. Irene Friberg-Dussaq officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Duncannon, with military honors.
Boyer Funeral Home, Duncannon, is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to his church, 115 Church St., Duncannon 17020.

MALVERN E. BURKE
Malvern E. Burke, 79, of New Bloomfield RR 2 died Friday, April 10, 1998 in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
He was a retired meat cutter; a Harrisburg native; an Army veteran of World War II; and a member of Union Local 56, Valley Forge.
Surviving are his wife, Anna M. Burke; a daughter, Elsie Moyer of Shermans Dale; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held April 14 in Boyer Funeral Home, New Bloomfield. Burial was in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

ETHEL I. CALDWELL
Ethel I. Caldwell, 75, of Newport RR 2 died Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998 in Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.
She was born April 4, 1923 in Hummelstown to the late Raymond R. and Sylva (Lyter) Kinley.
She was an elder, deacon and member of Highland Presbyterian Church and Perry Chapter 459 Order of Eastern Star; and former board member of Rainbow Girls Perry Assembly 171. She was the widow of Samuel Maurice Caldwell. Surviving are two sons, Larry L. of Liverpool and James R. of Newport; a daughter, Patricia E. Shutt of Newport; three brothers, C.R. and Wilbur Kinley, both of Hummelstown, and E. Lee Kinley of McElhatten; a sister, Erma Claar of Harrisburg; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Graveside and Eastern Star services were held Nov. 3 in Newport Cemetery. Memorial services followed in her church. The Rev. Crea Clark officiated.
Myers Funeral Home, Newport, handled arrangements.

BLANCHE MAE CARTER
Blanche Mae Carter, 90, of State Street, Lemoyne, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998 at home.
She was born Aug. 1, 1908 in Williamstown to the late Joseph R. and Linnie (Hess) Llewellyn.
She was a former employee of Lesher Hosiery Mill, Williamstown, and a former member of Williamstown United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Glenn D. Carter; a son, Donald L. Sr. of New Cumberland; a daughter, Constance C. Grenoble of Harrisburg; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 12 in Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon, with the Rev. Ronald Zeigler officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Duncannon.
Memorial contributions may be made to Comfort Care Hospice, 205 Grandview Ave., Camp Hill 17011.

DORIS J. CAMPBELL
Doris J. Campbell, 66, of Lansvale Street, Marysville, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1998 in Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg.
She retired from the state Department of Revenue and was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Marysville, the Methodist Women's Club and Golden Age Club.
She was the widow of Clyde M. Campbell. Surviving are two daughters, Paulette R. Shaffer of Harrisburg and Joanne L. Still of Duncannon; two sons, Barry A. of Marysville and Steven E. of Baltimore, Md.; and three sisters, Marcia Williams of Lewistown, Janet Taylor of Carlisle and Barbara Sabol of Mechanicsburg.
Services were held Aug. 28 in her church. Burial was in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Marysville. Shalonis Funeral Home, Marysville, handled arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to her church, 400 Lansvale St., Marysville 17053.

ARDELLA CAUFFMAN
Ardella Cauffman, 82, of Millerstown RR 1 died Wednesday, May 13, 1998 at home.
She was born Nov. 21, 1915 in Liverpool Twp. to the late Milton and Pearl (Barner) Gelnett.
She was a graduate of Liverpool High School; a former employee of Mt. Hope Dress Factory in Liverpool; and a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Millerstown RR 1, Perry Valley Grange, Millerstown Fire Company and Ambulance League.
Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Robert H. Cauffman; three sons, Dean M., Glen R. and Earl E., all of Millerstown; a sister, Marie Shirk of Selinsgrove; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Clayton, and one sister, Mildred Witmer.
Services were held May 17 in her church with the Rev. Paul W. Case officiating. Burial was in the church Cemetery.

DAVID CAVE SR.
David "Lee" Cave Sr., 61, of Anthony Drive, Marysville, died Tuesday, June 30, 1998 in Renova Center, Camp Hill.
He was security coordinator for Central Penn Business School, Summerdale; a former parts manager for Brenner Motors; and a member of Steelton Moose Lodge, Fraternal Order of Police, North American Hunting Club and PCA.
Surviving are his wife, Doris "Sue" Anthony Cave; two sons, David L. Jr. of Marysville and John A. of Hegins; and six grandchildren.
Services were held July 3 in Myers-Harner Funeral Home, Camp Hill. Burial was in Bloomfield Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to East Pennsboro Ambulance Association, 750 S. Humer, Enola 17025, or American Cancer Society, Cumberland Unit, 117 N. Hanover St., Carlisle 17013.

HELEN M. CHARLES
Helen Margaret Charles, 85, of Buffalo Twp., Liverpool RR 2, died Friday, Oct. 2, 1998 in Kinkora Pythian Home, Duncannon.
She was born Sept. 4, 1913 at Montgomery's Ferry, Buffalo Twp., to the late John David and Bertha Mae (Liddick) McClain.
She retired as a clerk from the state Treasury Bureau; was inducted into the Pennsylvania Voters Hall of Fame, for 50 years of voting without missing an election; and was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Liverpool Fire Company Auxiliary, Liverpool Senior Citizens and Hunters Valley Pinochle Club.
She was the widow of Roy Emerson Charles, who died May 24, 1980.
Surviving are a son, John C. Sr. of Liverpool RR 2; four daughters, Dorothy C. Albright, Virginia C. Dick and Mary C. Dick, all of Liverpool RR 2, and Marjorie C. Schreiber of Newport RR 1; 18 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 6 in her church with the Rev. Ray Hatcher officiating. Burial was in Hunter's Valley Cemetery, Liverpool RR 2.
Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool, handled arrangements.
