Landis K. Hess, 75, of Church Street, Mount Joy, died Wednesday, July 15, 1998 at the V.A. Medical Center, Lebanon County.
He was born in Perry County to the late Clarence Lee and Laura B. (Dolby) Hess.
He was an employee of the Pennsylvania Railroad for 35 years, and also had worked at New Standard Corporation, Mount Joy; an Army veteran of World War II; and a member of Glossbrenner United Methodist Church, Mount Joy, and the Newport American Legion.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Helen Eichler Hess; a stepson, James E. Musser of Street, Md.; three sisters, Alethea Smith of Blain, Jean Fuhrman of East Petersburg and Esther Reikard of Lancaster; three brothers, Max of Elliottsburg, Larry of Newport and Ronald of Loysville; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held in his church July 18 with the Rev. Kenneth O'Neal and pastor James Musser officiating. Burial was in Camp Hill Cemetery, Mount Joy.
Sheetz Funeral Home, Mount Joy, handled arrangements.

M. Jeannette Hetrick, 76, of Fifth Street, Newport, died Thursday, April 23, 1998 at home.
She was born Jan. 16, 1922 in Duncannon to the late Samuel and Maude (Thomas) Miller.
She was a Protestant. She enjoyed flowers, vegetable gardening, antiques and playing the piano.
Surviving are her husband, John W. Hetrick, two sons, John T. of New Bloomfield and Donald L. of Newport; a daughter, Joan A. Hetrick Wingert of Harrisburg; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were held April 26 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with the Rev. Brand Eaton officiating. Burial was in Newport Cemetery.

Laura A. Hilbish, 73, of Stine Street, Duncannon, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 1998 in the Renova Center, Lower Allen Twp.
She was born Sept. 16, 1925 to the late Roy E. and Margaret (Van Horn) Lilley.
She retired from the state Revenue Department and was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Duncannon Golden Age Club, Pennsylvania Association of retired State Employees, VFW Auxiliary Unit 255 and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 340.
She was the widow of Clifford L. Hilbish Sr.
Surviving are three sons, Clifford L. Jr. of New Buffalo, and Kenneth R. and Gary W., both of Duncannon; five daughters, Donna M. Pressley of Carlisle, Wendy L. Lukens of New Bloomfield RR 1, Dena R. Walsh of Halifax, and Karen Trevenen and Raye Anne Shatto, both of Duncannon; a sister, Violet Maxwell of Enola; 20 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sunday, Nov. 8 in her church, with the Revs. B. Michael Brossman and Denny Sprow officiating. Burial was in Hill Cemetery, Duncannon RR 4.
Smith Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Leona P. Hirsch, 56, of Marysville died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 1998 in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
She was a former employee of New Idea Farm Equipment.
Surviving is a brother, Terry E. of Marysville.
Shalonis Funeral Home, Marysville, handled arrangements.

Alda B. Hockenberry, 83, of Chapel Pointe Nursing Home, Carlisle, died Monday, Oct. 12, 1998 in Carlisle Hospital.
She was born July 11, 1915 in Blairs Mills to the late William J. and Loretta (Smith) Smith.
She retired as a sewing machine operator for the former Newport Fashion dress factory in Newport, and was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Blain.
She was the widow of Wilmer B. Hockenberry Sr. Surviving are a daughter, Wanda Campbell of Loysville RR 1; three sons, Edwin N. of McVeytown, John E. of Danville and Gene A. of Newport; a brother, Junior H. Smith of Shermans Dale; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Wilmer B. Jr., who died June 17, 1998; four brothers, Cloyd W., John F., Merlle and Orlando "Ross" Smith; and a sister, Blanche Roberts.
Services were held Oct. 16 in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, with the Rev. John S. Kipp officiating. Burial was in Blain Cemetery.
Mary Jane Hockenberry, 75, of Perlo Ridge Apartments, Loysville RR 1, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1998 in Carlisle Hospital.
She was born Jan. 14, 1923 at New Bloomfield to the late Jacob and Florence (Fry) Kitner.
She was retired as an accounts payable clerk with Pennsy Supply Inc. of Harrisburg; a private chauffeur for 20 years; a charter member of New Life Assembly of God Church, Landisburg; a member of The Perry Historians, Golden Age Club of New Bloomfield and life member of the Molly Pitcher Button Club.
Surviving are two sons, Glenn E. Hockenberry of Carlisle and Karl G. Hockenberry of Omaha, Neb.; a daughter, Barbara A. Walker of Fort Myer, Fla.; two sisters, Olive Crull of Landisburg and Arlene Reisinger of Shermans Dale; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Bessie Seiders and Margaret Hutzell; and five brothers, Charles, Melvin, Floyd, William and John Kitner.
Services were held Nov. 9 in her church with the Rev. Larry J. Bidwell officiating. Burial was in the church Cemetery.
Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, handled arrangements.
Wilmer B. "JB" Hockenberry Jr., 50, of Blain RR 1 died Wednesday, June 17, 1998 in the Laurel Center, Tilden Twp., Berks County.
He was born Feb. 4, 1948 in Carlisle to Alda B. (Smith) Hockenberry of Kinkora Pythian Home, Duncannon, and the late Wilmer B. Hockenberry Sr.
He was a maintenance mechanic for 19 years at Cresline Plastic Pipe Co., Mechanicsburg, and a Protestant.
In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife, Kathleen A. Poff Hockenberry; three brothers, Edwin N. of McVeytown, John E. of Danville and Gene A. of Newport; and a sister, Wanda Campbell of Loysville.
Services were held June 20 in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, with the Rev. Eugene Jones officiating. Burial was in Blain Cemetery, Blain RR 1.
John L. Hocker, 79, of Valley Road, Marysville, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998 at home.
He formerly was employed at the John Shull Bakery, Marysville, and at Glen L. Martin in Baltimore, Md., during World War II. He was co-owner of the former Heisley & Hocker tire retreading business, Marysville.
He was a member of the board of directors of the First National Bank of Marysville; a charter member of the Marysville Lions Club and active in the Marysville Lions Carnival for many years; and a member of Perry Lodge 458, F&AM, Marysville, Harrisburg Consistory, Zembo Shrine Temple, Shrine Luncheon Club and Marysville Hunting Club; and was an avid golfer.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred L. Bowman Hocker; one brother, Ralph W. Hocker of Camp Hill; two sisters, Catherine Haines of Port Royal and Dorothy Boyer of California; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Nov. 30 in Shalonis Funeral Home, Marysville. Burial was in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Marysville.
