Julia F. Horting, 94, of N. Sixth Street, Newport, died Saturday, May 16, 1998 in Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.
She was born Sept. 30, 1903 in Oliver Twp. to the late Robert and Rebecca (Meminger) Toomey.
She was a former correspondent from Howe Twp. for the Newport News-Sun, beginning in 1939 when George Fry was editor of the paper; enjoyed knitting, crocheting and quilting; and was a member of Red Hill Church of God, Newport, and its Sunday school, in which she had held office since 1918, a state record; and a member of Newport Senior Citizen Center and Newport Garden Club.
She was the widow of John F. Horting.
Surviving are nieces and nephews.
Services were held May 19 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with the Revs. Harry Cole and William Baney officiating. Burial was in Newport Cemetery.

Richard L. Hostetter, 69, of New Germantown died Monday, March 23, 1998 in Carlisle Hospital.
He was born June 13, 1928 at Blain RR 1 to the late Edward T. and Sarah K. (Britcher) Hostetter.
He was retired from the former C. H. Masland & Sons, Carlisle, and formerly farmed and worked for Hempt Brother's, Camp Hill. He was a member of New Germantown United Methodist Church, Blain Fire Company, Blain Ambulance Club and Blain Sportsmen's Club.
Surviving are his wife, Helen E. Flickinger Hostetter; a daughter, Linda K. Gilbert of Carlisle; two sons, Ronnie L. Hostetter of Enola and Rickie L. Hostetter, at home; three brothers, William M. Hostetter of Blain, George L. Hostetter of Carlisle and Emory D. Hostetter of Newville; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth L. Reeder, and three brothers, Wayne H., Paul E. and Robert F. Hostetter.
Services were held March 26 in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, with the Revs. Dale W. Dobbs and Francis P. Yarlett officiating. Burial was in Blain Cemetery.

Kenton Lloyd Huber, 3, of Green Park RR 1 died Friday, April 17, 1998 at Hershey Medical Center.
He was born June 4, 1994 at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
He attended Milltown Mennonite Church of Weaverland Conference, Landisburg RR 1.
Surviving are his parents, Mervin H. and Nancy W. (Hursh) Huber, with whom he lived; two brothers, Delvyn R. and Kristopher L. Huber, both at home; three sisters, Danelle F., Denise A. and Kendra D. Huber, all at home; his paternal grandmother, Anna Huber of Ephrata; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Mervin Hursh of Ephrata; his paternal step-great-grandparents, John and Emma Horning of New Holland; a paternal step-great-grandmother, Annie Huber of Ephrata; his maternal great-grandfather, Eli Hursh of Lititz; and a maternal great-grandmother, Anna Weaver of Ephrata.
Services were held April 22 at his home and church with bishops Lester B. Martin, Raymond Zimmerman, Jay Paul Hoover and Lester M. Martin officiating. Burial was in the church Cemetery.
Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, handled arrangements.
John S. Humbert, 68, of Third Street, West Fairview, died Sunday, June 14, 1998 in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
He was born June 8, 1930 in Pittsburgh to the late Ullyses S. and Winnifred (Mellott) Humbert.
He was retired from West Shore Oil Co.; was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Sons of American Revolution, Fulton County Historical Society and Grier's Point Cemetery Association; and a graduate of Milton Hershey School.
He was the widower of Freda Bitting Humbert.
Surviving are a son, Stanley of Marysville; seven daughters, Rose Mangle of Liverpool, Mary Luckenbaugh of Shermans Dale, Catherine Shaull and Winnifred McCoy, both of West Fairview, Patricia Humbert of Hershey, Beverly Humbert of Texas and Nancy Cook of Mechanicsburg; 14 grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
Services were held June 17 in Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon, with the Rev. George R. Kell officiating. Burial was in Grier's Point Cemetery, Marysville.
Memorial contributions may be made to any charity.
Elmer Scott "Scottie" Jacobs, 85, of New Cumberland died Tuesday, April 14, 1998 in Fairview Retirement Village, Fairview Twp.
He retired as a computer programmer from the federal government; was an Army veteran of World War II; and a member of Mount Zion Lutheran Church, Lewisberry; VFW Post 34 and American Legion Post 177, both of Newport.
Surviving are his wife, Helen Geary Jacobs, and a sister, Hannah Luallen of Orlando, Fla.
Services were held at the convenience of the family. Burial was in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
Cremation Society of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, handled arrangements.

Albert W. Jamison, 65, of Elliottsburg RR 1 died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998 in Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg.
He was a retired employee of the New Cumberland Army Depot and a Navy veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Linda Jamison; two daughters, Jill Hostetter of Annville and Sandi Jamison of Carlisle; three sons, Kim of Layton, Utah, Dean of Hummelstown and Jack of Hershey; a brother, Earl of Maryland; two foster sisters, Grace Wolfe of Lebanon and Martha Patrick of Jonestown; and nine grandchildren.
Services were held Aug. 18 in Boyer Funeral Home, New Bloomfield. Burial, with military honors, was in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Anna N. Jeffries, 81, of W. Shortcut Road, Newport, died Monday, April 13, 1998 at home.
She was born May 29, 1916 in Newport tothe late Walter W. and Ella (Burd) Mitchell.
She retired from AILGWU Newport Dress Factory and was a member of St. Samuel's Lutheran Church, its Pollyanna Class and Newport American Legion and VFW auxiliaries.
Surviving are her husband, Mark D. Jeffries; two sons, Mark A. of Fallston, Md., and Wilbur W. of Bountiful, Utah; two brothers, Gilbert Mitchell of Emporium and Arthur Mitchell of Newport; and four grandchildren.
Services were held April 16 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with the Rev. Arthur Steckel officiating. Burial was in Newport Cemetery.

Diana B. Jimenez, 63, of Duncannon RR 4, formerly of Philadelphia, died Friday, Oct. 2, 1998 at home.
She was a former Spanish teacher in the Philadelphia school system; a native of Puerto Rico; and a Catholic.
She was the widow of Luis F. Jimenez.
Surviving are two sons, Stanley, with whom she lived, and Luis F. Jr. of Philadelphia; and a grandson.
Services were held Oct. 6 in Boyer Funeral Home, Duncannon. Burial was in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
