J. VERNON RIGGS
J. Vernon Riggs, 96, formerly of Blain, died Monday, March 16, 1998 in Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.
He was born Oct. 25, 1901 at Allenport to the late Oliver S. and Katie B. (McKenna) Riggs.
He was a retired service technician for Columbia Gas Company, Brownsville, and a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Blain. He was the widower of Gladys R. McCleary Riggs.
Surviving are a son, James W. of Blain RR 1; two daughters, Doris E. Gardner of Taylor, Mich., and Judith Lamb of Newport RR 3; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Services were held March 19 in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, with the Rev. Frank J. Gassler officiating. Burial was in Blain Cemetery.

JOHN E. ROBINSON
John Earl Robinson, 42, of Elliottsburg RR 1 died Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998 from injuries suffered in a farm accident at his Saville Twp. farm.
He was a farmer and mechanic for Aerial Lifts Inc. of Middletown and a state-certified SEO.
He was a member of North American Hunting Club and Ickesburg Fire Company; a graduate of Central Bucks East High School, Buckingham, Pennsylvania State University, and member of Theta Chi Fraternity; and a Navy veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Patty Scotta Robinson; three sons, Anthony E., David J. and Nathan L., all at home; his parents, Ellen Robinson of Newton, N.J., and Homer Robinson of Elizabethton, Tenn.; a brother, Gary C. of Fisher, Tenn.; and two sisters, Jacqueline O'Hare of Bridgewater, N.J., and Judy Robinson of Philadelphia.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Oct. 13 in St. Bernard Catholic Church, New Bloomfield. Burial was in Bloomfield Cemetery.
Boyer Funeral Home, New Bloomfield, handled arrangements.

PERCY B. RODEMAKER
Percy B. Rodemaker, 98, formerly of Duncannon, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1998 in Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.
He was born Nov. 24, 1899 in Juniata, Blair County, to the late Harry and Canma Rodemaker.
He was a retired employee of the Pennsylvania Railroad with 45 years of service. He was a member, former Sunday school superintendent and former trustee of Roseglen United Methodist Church; former treasurer of Perry County; former register and recorder of Perry County; and former president of Susquenita School Board.
He was the widower of Mary Callendar Rodemaker.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Ann Verdier of Richboro and Kaye L. Rissinger of Chalfont; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Percy B. Rodemaker Jr.
Services were held Oct. 3 in Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon, with the Rev. Randall Goshorn officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Duncannon.

JOHN U. ROHRER JR.
John U. Rohrer Jr., 71, of Schoolhouse Road, Duncannon, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 1998 at home.
He was born July 29, 1926 in Duncannon to the late John U. Sr. and Mary E. (Arter) Rohrer.
He was the former owner of Maguire Ford, Duncannon; an Army veteran of World War II; and a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Duncannon, Perry Lodge 458 F&AM, Marysville, Harrisburg Consistory, Zembo Shrine Temple and the Loyal Order of Jesters, both of Harrisburg, Country Club of Harrisburg and the Duncannon High School Alumni Association.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce Maguire Rohrer; two sons, John R. of Houston, Texas, and Keith A. of Duncannon; a daughter, Linda R. Allen of Duncannon; two brothers, William A. of Wormleysburg and Charles M. of Waterville; a sister, Mary Emma Sterner of Duncannon; and five grandchildren.
Services were held March 3 in his church with the Rev. Irene Friberg-Dussaq officiating. Burial was in Duncannon Cemetery.
Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon, handled arrangements.

VALERA E. ROSENER
Valera E. Rosener, 83, of Evergreen Street, Thompsontown, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998 in Lewistown Hospital.
She was born June 25, 1914 at McAlisterville to the late Roy D. and Mayme E. (Hainley) Long.
She formerly was employed as a cafeteria manager at E.H. Phillips Elementary School, Colonial Park, Harrisburg; and was a member of Millerstown United Methodist Church and Thompsontown Ambulance League.
She was the widow of Byron W. Rosener Jr., who died Sept. 27, 1995.
Surviving are a son, Byron W. III of Wexford; a daughter, Deborah M. Waunounou of Bridgewater, N.J.; a brother, Harry C. Long of Millerstown; and two grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Feb. 8 in her church with the Rev. Arthur L. Montgomery officiating. Burial was in Millerstown Riverview Cemetery.
Nickel Funeral Home, Millerstown, handled arrangements.

JOHN E. ROUSH
John E. Roush, 88, of Cassell Street, Marysville, died Friday, Feb. 20, 1998 in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
He retired as a painter from the former Pennsylvania Railroad; was a past chancellor commander of Knights of Pythias Lodge 458; a former scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 56; a member and past president of the Golden Age Club; had been a member of the former Civilian Conservation Corps; and was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Marysville, and the Marysville Lions Club.
Surviving are his wife, Emma M. Pfenning Roush; a daughter, Diane L Foltz of Mechanicsburg; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services were held Feb. 24 in his church. Burial was in Perry Heights Cemetery, Marysville.
Shalonis Funeral Home, Marysville, handled arrangements.

KENNETH J. ROUSH
Kenneth J. Roush, 72, of Lincoln Street, Duncannon, died Monday, April 6, 1998 in Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg.
He was born Feb. 21, 1926 in Watts Twp. to the late Herman and Marie (Doyle) Roush.
He retired as a driver for Yellow Freight Systems, Lancaster; was an Army veteran of World War II with a Purple Heart; commander of VFW Post 255; and a member of American Legion Post 340, Duncannon Sportsmen's Association, Duncannon Fire Company, Teamsters Local 776 of Harrisburg and Christ Lutheran Church, Duncannon.
Surviving are his wife, Mazie Mattison Roush; three sons, James K., Michael H. and Robert J., all of Duncannon; a daughter, Terry L. of Newport; two sisters, Gladys Dorman of Newport and Nettie Smith of Duncannon; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Services were held April 10 in Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon, with the Rev. Kenneth Forbes officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Duncannon, with military honors.

JOHN W. ROWE
John Wesley Rowe, 95, of Mexico, Mifflintown RR 3, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998 in at Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin HC 67.
He was born March 1, 1902 in Delaware Twp., Juniata Twp., to the late Charles F. and Margaret (Portzline) Rowe.
He was a farmer and had been a cabinet maker at Triangle Pacific Cabinet Corp., Thompsontown, from which he retired; and was a member of Centre Lutheran Church, Mifflintown RR 2.
He was the widower of Mildred Bookwalter Rowe, who died Jan. 23, 1989.
Surviving are a son, Henry Ross Rowe of Millerstown RR 1; a daughter, Mary M. Rowe of Mifflintown RR 3; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Norman, Charles and Ralph Rowe; and three sisters, Elva McKee, Mary "Mame" Hostetler and Anna Mae Haubert.
Services were held Feb. 16 in Guss Funeral Home, Mifflintown, with the Rev. Kerry Aucker officiating. Burial was in St. Stephen's Lutheran Cemetery, Mifflintown RR 3.
