Franklin J. Auxt Sr., 77, of Newport RR 2 died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999 in Community General Hospital, Harrisburg.
He was born Oct. 22, 1922 in Duncannon to the late Jacob and Ora (Fissel) Auxt.
He was a retired state employee; had worked for Old Ferry Pumphouse, Millerstown; was a Navy veteran of World War II; and a member of American Legion Post 177 and VFW Post 34.
He was the widower of Mildred P. Auxt.
Surviving are a son, Franklin J. Jr., and a daughter, Patricia Atwood, both of Newport; three brothers, Samuel of Duncannon, Jacob of Marysville and Fred of Enola; three sisters, Sarah Sands and Barbara Hoover, both of Duncannon, and Aretta Acri of Wormleysburg; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Randal Atwood.
Services were held Dec. 13 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with the Rev. Philip Brenizer officiating. Burial was in St. Matthew Cemetery, Millerstown RR 1.
David L. Baer, 58, of Newport RR 5 died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999 at home.
He was born Sept. 24, 1941 in Newport to the late John and Anna (Knisely) Baer.
He retired as a teacher from the Susquenita School District, where he was a former high school wrestling coach, and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Newport.
Surviving are a son, Brandon D., at home; three brothers, Dallas and John A., both of Newport RR 5, and Robert of Clark's Summit; and a sister, Anna Mitchell of Newport.
Services were held Oct. 24 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with the Rev. Irene Friberg-Dussaq officiating. Burial was in Newport Cemetery.

Dale H. Baker, 75, of Landisburg RR 1 died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999 in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
He was born May 10, 1923 in Madison Twp. to the late Charles H. and Mary F. (Moore) Baker.
He retired as head miller from H.R. Wentzel and Sons Inc., Landisburg RR 1; was a Navy veteran of World War II; a member of Duncannon American Legion Post 340 and the Newport Social Order of Owls; and a life member of White Circle Lodge 1, Carlisle.
Surviving are a brother, Donald S. "Sam" of Landisburg RR 1, and a sister, Dorothy L. Morrison of Shermans Dale.
Services were held Feb. 26 in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, with the Rev. Malcolm E. Martin officiating. Burial was in Mount Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Landisburg RR 1.

Evalyn P. Baker,86, of Pine Street, New Buffalo, died Friday, May 7, 1999 in Kinkora Pythian Home, Duncannon.
She was born Sept. 9, 1912 in Eshcol to the late John and Mary (Corman) Knisley.
She retired from the state Bureau of Vital Statistics and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, New Bloomfield.
She was the widow of Floyd D. Baker.
Surviving are two daughters, Flora F. Cameron of Millerstown and Judy Strickland of Newport; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held May 10 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport,with the Rev. Robert Knight officiating. Burial was in NewportCemetery.

Gary L. Bankes, 42, of Loysville RR 1 died Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999 in Carlisle Hospital.
He was born Nov. 25, 1957 in Harrisburg to Ruth Ann (Weirich) Richcreek of Carlisle and the late Harry Bankes.
He was a transmission mechanic at K&H Ford, Mechanicsburg; had attended Middletown High School; and was a member of the Keystone Appaloosa Horse Club.
In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife, Elaine M. Varner Bankes; a daughter, Autumn M. Bankes, at home; two brothers, Barry L. Bankes and Clair E. Richcreek, both of Dover; and two sisters, Patricia M. Broom of York Haven and Pamela A. Richcreek of Carlisle.
Services were held Nov. 15 in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, with the Rev. Judy Rowles officiating. Burial was Blain Cemetery.
Earl Elwood Barnes, 79, of Elliottsburg RR 1 died Tuesday, March 16, 1999 in Harrisburg Hospital.
He was born Oct. 12, 1919 in Tuscarora Twp. to the late John and Hester Barnes.
He retired as a mechanic from R and W Equipment, Carlisle; had been a mechanic for the former Shovers Equipment, Loysville; and was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church, Newport.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel L. Casner Barnes; two daughters, Joanne Reeder of Newville and Fern Dougherty of Loysville RR 2; a stepdaughter, Lois Fleisher of New Bloomfield RR 2; two brothers, John of Millerstown and Larry of Newport; four sisters, Thelma Waller, Mabel Casner and Ethel Weibley, all of Loysville RR 1, and Betty Wingert of Liverpool; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 20 in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, with the Rev. Crea M. Clark officiating. Burial was in Messiah Lutheran Church Cemetery, Elliottsburg.
Helen E. Barr,79, of Stonebridge Health and Rehabilitation Center, Duncannon,died Monday, April 26, 1999 in Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg.
She was born Oct. 25, 1919 in Harrisburg to the lateJohn F. Sr. and Margaret (Hooven) Barr.
She retired as a stock-brokerage account executive from Legg Mason in Harrisburg; was a former board member of the Girls Club of Harrisburg; and a member of Pine Street Presbyterian Church, Harrisburg, and the Soroptimist Club.
Surviving are several cousins and close friends, Jim and Pat Palmer of Halifax.
Graveside services were held April 30 in East HarrisburgCemetery with Dr. Richard Adams officiating.
Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon, handled arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund of her church, 310 N. Third St., Harrisburg 17101.
William E. Barrick Sr., 73, of Mechanicsburg died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999 in Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg.
He was born May 13, 1926 at Carlisle RR to the late Ellis and Chloe (Marquart) Barrick.
He retired as a welder from Pennsy Supply; was an Army veteran of the Korean War; a member of Young's United Methodist Church, Shermans Dale; and an avid jewelry maker.
Surviving are his wife, Marian E. Barrick; a son, William E. Jr. of Phoenixville; five brothers, Ralph L. of Rice Lake, Wis., Richard L. of Mechanicsburg, Henry H. of Carlisle, Glenn E. of Lake Butler, Fla., and Harold L. of Shermans Dale; three sisters, Arlene Kitchens of Windsor, S.C., Evelyn Hetrick of Mesa, Ariz., and Elinor Hetrick of Ray City, Ga.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 29 in his church with the Rev. R. Bruce Woolever officiating. Burial was in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Camp Hill.
Myers Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg, handled arrangements.
