Wayne E. "Peach" Bitting, 52, of Newport RR 2 died Friday, Aug. 27, 1999 in Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg.
He was born March 2, 1947 in Harrisburg to the late Leaman and Ethel (Murphy) Bitting.
He was a zone manager in the circulation department of The Patriot-News; a 1965 graduate of Newport High School; a member and elder of Highland Presbyterian Church and member of its building committee, Newport; a member of Newport F&AM Lodge 381; a former member of the Jaycees and the Newport Lions Club; and enjoyed swimming, baseball and collecting baseball memorabilia.
Surviving are his wife, Linda Thomas Bitting; two brothers; and a sister.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Sally Snyder.
Services were held Aug. 31 in his church with the Rev. Edward Baugh officiating. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery, Newport.
Myers Funeral Home, Newport, handled arrangements.

Doris Jean Bixler, 67, of Liverpool RR 2 died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999 in Harrisburg Hospital.
She was born June 9, 1931 at Lambs Gap, Cumberland County, to the late Harry and Elizabeth (Shelly) Wright.
She was a former employee of G.C. Murphy Co. in Lemoyne; attended the former William Penn High School, Harrisburg; a member of New Buffalo Missionary Alliance Church; and was an avid reader and gardener.
Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Frank L. Bixler; two sons, Frank L. Jr. and Kirk A., both of Carlisle; three daughters, Karen E. Hoover and Deborah J. Rush, both of Dover, and Janet E. Sideck of Camp Hill; three sisters, Pauline Bobb of Camp Hill, Marcella Waltman of Carlisle and Esther Knouse of Shippensburg; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother and seven sisters.
Services were held March 2 in Gar-man Funeral Home, Liverpool, with the Rev. David W. Gouak officiating. Burial was in Hunter's Valley Cemetery, Liverpool RR 2.

C. Blaine Black, 84, of Ball Town Road, Gardners, died Friday, April 23, 1999 at home.
He was born Oct. 11, 1914 in Shermans Dale to the late Charles A. and Ruth M. (Bear) Black.
He had been an employee of the former Duffy Mott Co., Aspers, for more than 20 years before retiring in 1977, attended Bethel Assembly of God Church, Littlestown.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Mary F. Smith Black; two daughters, Millie E. Grosby of Kansas City, Mo., and Gayle Gottshall of Harrisburg; four sons, Darwyn L. of Boiling Springs, Kenneth D. and Marion L., both of York Springs, and Dale B. of St. Louis, Mo.; two brothers, Dean C. Black of New Bloomfield and J. Lamont Black of Carlisle; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held April 27 in Dugan Funeral Home, Bendersville, with the Rev. James R. Ruddy officiating. Burial was in Bendersville Cemetery.
Sara M. "Sally" Black, 85, formerly of Sheck Drive, Newport, died Wednesday, June 23, 1999 in Stonebridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Duncannon.
She was born April 10, 1914 in Juniata County to the late Harvey and Maude (Arnold) Milliken.
She was a retired seamstress; a member of Wila United Methodist Church and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 177; a life member of the Newport Fire Company Auxiliary; and enjoyed sewing.
She was the widow of Charles E. Black.
Surviving are a daughter, Suzanne J. Snyder, with whom she lived; a son, James C. of Duncannon; a brother, Dick Milliken of Port Royal; two sisters, Kathryn Stong of Port Royal and Mickey Baney of Thompsontown; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Wood.
Services were held June 26 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with her sister, Mickey Baney officiating. Burial was in Newport Cemetery.

Lester E. Blaine, 77, of Mulberry Street, Newport, died Monday, Aug. 2, 1999 at home.
He retired from TRW, Harrisburg; had worked for Snap-On Tools; was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II; a Protestant; and a member of Newport VFW Post 34 and American Legion Post 177.
He was the widower of Sara L. Blaine.
Surviving are a son, Lester E. Jr., and a daughter, Linda Sweigart, both of Newport, and five grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Aug. 5 in Newport Cemetery.

Nell E. Bolinger, 96, formerly of Newport, died Sunday, May 23, 1999 in the Masonic Homes, Elizabethtown.
She was born Dec. 27, 1902 in Three Springs to the late John A. and Mary E. "Shue" Stevens.
She retired from First National Bank of Newport and was a member of Market Street United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, travel and the Hershey Bears.
She was the widow of J. Morrow Bolinger.
Surviving are a son, Robert S. of Lancaster, three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, James Morrow Bolinger.
Services were held May 27 in her church, with the Rev. Aden Wertz officiating. Burial was in Newport Cemetery.

Luraline Bolze, 80, of LaPorte Tr., Walkerton, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999 at home.
She was born Feb. 28, 1919 in Chicago to the late Raymond and Florence (Jones) Olson.
She was a member of Walkerton First Presbyterian Church and a 50-year member of North Liberty Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are her husband, Charles S. Bolze; and four sons, Jim, David, Thomas and Ken, all of Walkerton; and a sister-in-law in Perry County.
Services were held Dec. 6 in Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, Walkerton, with the Rev. John Birkner officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton.
Dr. Katherine "Katie" Book, 47, of Shelton, Wash., died Thursday, March 4, 1999 in an automobile accident near Shelton.
She was born July 5, 1952 in Sewickley, Pa., to the late James P. and Elizabeth (McComb) Townsend.
She attended Duke University and received a medical doctorate at Hershey Medical Center in pediatrics. She also received a doctorate in psychiatry from the University of Washington. She spent time in Alaska serving Native Americans as part of her studies in psychiatry. She also was an apprentice to a Native American medicine woman, learning traditional medical skills. She served as a volunteer at Opympia Wildlife Rescue and at Wolf Haven. Her love of travel and wildlife took her and her family to Thailand, Mexico, Galapagos, Canada, Hawaii and throughout the United States. She was an avid photographer, taking pictures of memorable places and people.
Surviving are her husband of 23 years, Daniel Wiley Book; a seven-year-old son, Wiley Townsend Book; and a sister, Annie Townsend of Denver, Colo.
Services were held March 9 in Olympia, Wash.
