Merle E. Lauck, 99, of Perdix died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000 in Kinkora Pythian Home, Duncannon.
He retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers and was a member of Local 542.
Surviving are a son, Charles W. of Wormleysburg; three brothers, Joseph H. of New Cumberland, Peter A. of Carlisle and Charles R. of Dillsburg; two sisters, Bertha Irene Cressler of Florida and Rose A. Cressler of Camp Hill; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 19 in Musselman Funeral Home, Lemoyne. Burial was in Stone Church Cemetery, Silver Spring Twp.

Clarence W. "Bill" Leach Sr. of Tuscarora Twp., Millerstown, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000 in Harrisburg Hospital.
He was born Dec. 26, 1921 in Centre Twp. to the late Harry and Mary (Turnbaugh) Leach.
He worked for Frog Switch, Forrers Garage, Duncannon, and Tuscarora and Juniata townships, and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Surviving are his wife, Arvella Burris Leach; five sons, Clarence W. Jr. of Liverpool, Scott R. of Millerstown, Eric A., at home, and John and Roger, address unknown; two daughters, Rose and Tammy; two brothers, Leroy Ebersole of Newport and Curtis Ebersole; two sisters, Rose Smith of Newport and Stella Mae Turner of Shermans Dale; and two grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 28 at Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with the Rev. Tony Hill officiating. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery.
George K. Lesher, 79, of New Buffalo died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000 in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
He was born March 9, 1921.
He was an Air Force veteran of World War II.
Surviving are a daughter, Debra Adams of Seattle, Wash.; two sons, George Lesher and Donald Paulus; three brothers, Donald of Camp Hill, Robert of Shamokin and Milton of Selinsgrove; two sisters, Ruth Lesher of Etters and Virginia Sloan of Virginia; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service and burial was held in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
Cremation Society of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, handled arrangements.
Harry B. Lesh, 84, of Newport RR 5 died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000 in Harrisburg Hospital.
He was born Jan. 8, 1916 in Newport to the late Harry B. Sr. and Margaret (Burd) Lesh.
He was retired farmer and had operated a hauling business; was a 1936 graduate of Newport High School, where he was captain of the football team; and a member and former council president of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Newport.
He was the widower of Anna Sanderson Lesh.
Surviving are a brother, Earl M. of Newport, and a sister, Miriam Jansen of La Cresent, Minn.
Services were held Sept. 15 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with the Rev. Paul Case officiating. Burial was in Newport Cemetery.

M. Merle Light, 87, formerly of Liverpool RR 1, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000 at the home of her daughter in Granger, Ind.
She had served as mother to 67 foster children since 1959; was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Liverpool RR 1; and a charter member and past star recorder of Women of the Moose Lodge 925.
She was the widow of W. Stanley Light.
Surviving are her daughter, Pauline Lane Wright; a brother, Robert B. Murray of Liverpool; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held Dec. 14 in her church. Burial was in St. John's (Barner's) Cemetery, Liverpool RR 1.
Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool, handled arrangements.

Esther Ruth Lightner, 67, of Fox Hollow Road, Shermans Dale, died Friday, March 17, 2000 in Carlisle Hospital.
She was born Sept. 10, 1932 in Mechanicsburg to the late William and Bessie (Waddles) Ford.
She retired from the former C.H. Masland & Sons, Carlisle.
She was the widow Victor E. Paulus.
Surviving are her husband of 19 years, Paul S. Lightner; two daughters, Roxanna Paulus Deihl and Patricia A. Shatto, and a son, John B. Deihl, all of Shermans Dale; a brother, Franklin Ford of Carlisle; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sons, Victor E. Paulus Jr., Carl L. Paulus and Berry Paulus.
Services were held March 21 in Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, Carlisle, with the Rev. Ronald Doverspike officiating. Burial was in Youngs United Methodist Church Cemetery, Shermans Dale.

Helen E. Lind, 78, of Evergreen Road, Shermans Dale, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000 in Harrisburg Hospital.
She was born Nov. 3, 1921 in Chambersburg to the late Joseph and Rachael (Holden) Bowman.
She retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation; was co-owner of Lind's Christmas Tree Farm; and a member of Shermans Dale Fire Company and its auxiliary and Perry Eastern Star Lodge 451.
She was the widow of Harry W. Lind.
Surviving are a daughter, Jean Shatto of Shermans Dale; five brothers, Kenneth, Wayne, Dale, Charles and Robert Bowman, all of Chambersburg; two sisters, Janet Ramsey of Chambersburg and Mary Black of Graham, Wash.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 11 in Boyer Funeral Home, New Bloomfield, with the Rev. R. Bruce Woolever officiating. Burial was in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.

George A. Lyter, 78, formerly of N. Market Street, Liverpool, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000 in Nipple Convalescent Home, Liverpool.
He was born Nov. 7, 1921 at Millerstown RR 2 to the late Henry A. and Evelyn (Bromley) Lyter.
He retired as a road foreman from the state Department of Transportation; attended Liverpool High School; was an Army veteran of World War II; a Protestant; a life member of Liverpool Volunteer Fire Company; a member of American Legion Post 364 and the Liverpool Ambulance League; and enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and golf.
He was the widower of Frances Lenora Moloy Lyter, who died March 30, 1995.
Surviving are four sons, Kenneth A. "Buck" of Liverpool RR 2, William H. of Thompsontown, John A. of Liverpool RR 1 and Michael C. of Liverpool; four daughters, Loretta Strawser of Newport RR 2, Georgia L. Markle of Millerstown RR 1, Dorna R. Bailor of Port Trevorton RR 1 and Gloria J. Spiglemyer of Liverpool; two sisters, Jane Bartecchi of Baltimore, Md., and Eleanor Dunlap of San Jose, Calif,; 18 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph H. Lyter, who died in November of 1998; a brother, Curtis H.; and four sisters, Agnes Blose, Dorothy Hahn, Mary Green and Virginia Baker.
Services were held Oct. 10 in Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool, with the Rev. James E. Lewis officiating. Burial, with military honors, was in Barners Cemetery, Liverpool RR 1.
