Ruth E. Magaro, 81, of S. River Road, Halifax, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000 at home.
She was born July 5, 1919 at Port Trevorton to the late Albert H. and Bessie (Sholley) Flanders.
She was a retired beautician; and a member of St. Bernadette Roman Catholic Church, Duncannon, and its Parish Council of Catholic Women.
Surviving are her husband, Eugene E. Magaro; two sons, James E. of Newport and Joseph M. of Halifax; a daughter, Bernadette M. Zebel of Duncannon; two brothers, Max and Harold Flanders, both of Port Trevorton; and six grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Oct. 31 in her church with Father Thomas J. Rozman officiating. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery, West Hanover Twp.
Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon, handled arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to her church, 901 N. High St., Duncannon 17020, or Visiting Nurses Association of Central Pennsylvania, 3315 Derry St., Harrisburg 17111.
Dorothy R. Magee, 90, of Surry Place Nursing Home, Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Highspire and Newport, died Saturday, March 18, 2000 in the nursing home.
She was born June 11, 1909 in Harrisburg to the late George and Bertha (Hains) Winter.
She was owner of the former Magee's Cut Rate, Newport, and operated a flea market stand in Elizabethtown; and a member of Market Street United Methodist Church, Newport, and Perry Chapter 459 of OES.
She was the widow of Charles E. Magee.
Surviving are a son, Charles W. of Bradenton; a sister, Ruth Laverty of Newport; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 22 at Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon, with the Rev. David Arnold officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Duncannon.

H. Ward Malseed, 71, of Lincoln Street, Duncannon, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000 in Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg.
He was born Dec. 13, 1928 in Duncannon to the late Lloyd and Trevilla (Wallower) Malseed.
He retired from Washington National Insurance Co.; was a Navy veteran of the Korean War; a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Duncannon, and Newport VFW, Newport American Legion Post 340, Newport and Millerstown Moose lodges, Newport Order of the Owls and the Duncannon High School Alumni Association; a life member of Duncannon Fire Company; and enjoyed fishing.
He was the widower of Peg Sharar Malseed.
Surviving are four daughters, Susan E. Liddick and Becky L. Malseed, both of Duncannon, Chrissie J. Hill of Wormleysburg and Nancy C. Dennis of Ashburn, Va.; a brother, Robert E. Sr. of Duncannon RR 4; and seven grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 13 in Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon, with Mark Liddick officiating. Burial, with military honors, was in Union Cemetery, Duncannon.

Lydia R. Manning, 92, formerly of Iron Street, Newport, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000 in Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.
She was born May 13, 1908 in Marysville to the late Arthur K. and Maude (Kitner) Manning.
She retired from the state Department of Labor and Industry; was a member of Market Street United Methodist Church, Newport; and enjoyed knitting, quilting and crocheting.
Surviving are three sisters, Louise Peck of Florida, Rebecca Dunn of Carlisle and Stella I. Sowers of Newport.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Newport Cemetery.
Myers Funeral Home, Newport, is handling arrangements.

Dorothy R. Martin, 71, formerly of Elliottsburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000 in Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle.
She was born Feb. 20, 1929 at Elliottsburg to the late G. Herbert and Winifred (Sheibley) Freeman.
She was an orderly at the former Perry County Home, Loysville.
Surviving are a son, John C. Martin of Elliottsburg; a daughter, Debra K. Flachsmann of Carlisle; a brother, Richard W. Freeman of South Korea; a sister, Arlene Jones of Hummelstown; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services were held Dec. 18 in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, with the Rev. Miriam L. Nicholson officiating. Burial was in Blain Cemetery.
Carl B. Maxwell, 59, of Newport RR 2 died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000 at home.
He was born Sept. 10, 1940 in Newport to the late Wilbur C. and Margaret (Brown) Maxwell.
He retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation; was a member of Newport First Church of God and Moose Lodge 1562; a life member of Newport Social Order of Owls; and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy E. Maxwell; a son, Carl B. Jr. of Camp Hill; a daughter, Cindy Ann Crockett of Mechanicsburg; three brothers, David and James, both of Newport, and Charles of Idaho; a sister, Helen Dodge of Harrisburg; and a grandchild.
Services were held Feb. 22 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with the Rev. Cheryl Dorman officiating. Burial was in Newport Cemetery.

Joseph J. Mazurik, 84, of W. Main St., Hummelstown, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000 at home.
He was born April 24, 1915 in Robertsdale to the late George and Anna (Coar) Mazurik.
He retired from the New Cumberland Army Depot and had been employed by Delaware Lackawanna & Western Railroad, Tobyhanna Army Depot and the former Olmsted Air Force Base, Middletown; a Navy veteran; a professional firefighter and a plumber.
Surviving are his wife of 13 years, Yvonne M. Waggoner Mazurik; two sons, J. Ronald of Cary, N.C., and Richard C. of Camp Hill; a daughter, Dorothy Tebera of Hummelstown; two stepdaughters, Cindy Lesh of Shermans Dale and Laurie Kauffman of Duncannon; a sister, Margaret Neipert of Tobyhanna; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Edith Julian Mazurik, who died April 10, 1985.
Services were private. Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Hummelstown, handled arrangements.

Wanda M. McAlicher, 58, of Acre Drive, Carlisle, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000 in Hershey Medical Center.
She was born May 8, 1941 in Blain to the late Frank and Mary (Early) Metz.
She graduated from Blain High School, Carlisle School of Nursing and the University of New York Regent School of Nursing, and attended Harrisburg Area Community College; worked at Carlisle Hospital for 24 years; and was a member of St. Matthias Lutheran Church, Middlesex, and the Fox Terrier Club, Maryland.
Surviving are her husband of 40 years, David J. McAlicher; a daughter, LaVonne C. McAlicher of San Diego, Calif.; two sons, Timothy G. of Duncannon and Jarett L. of Manchester; a brother, Dean Metz of Carlisle; two sisters, Louise Smith of Blain and Doris Holtry of Shermans Dale; and three grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 2 in Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, Carlisle, with the Rev. Sarah A. Heintzelman officiating. Burial was in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
