Dustin E. McAlpine, 17, of Newport RR 3 died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000 of injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
He was born Dec. 21, 1982 in Harrisburg.
He was a senior at Newport High School, a member of its golf, basketball and baseball teams, vice president of PYEA and a peer mediator; a Lutheran; and a Green Bay Packers fan.
Surviving are his parents, Richard and Theresa Smink McAlpine; two brothers, Jesse A. and Kelby P., both at home; his paternal grandmother, Barbara McAlpine of Middletown; maternal grandparents, John and Jean Smink of Middletown; and paternal great-grandmother, Clara Fitch of Calais, Maine.
Services were held Sept. 14 in Family Life Center, Shortcut Road, Newport, with pastor Frank Nemeth Jr. officiating. Burial was in Newport Cemetery.
Myers Funeral Home, Newport, handled arrangements.

Mary A. McClintock, 80, of Landisburg RR 1 died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000 at home.
She was born Sept. 28, 1920 in Upper Mifflin Twp. to the late Newton L. and Pearl (Henry) Gutshall.
She was a member of New Life Assembly of God, Landisburg RR 1, and the Landisburg Ambulance Club.
She was the widow of Kenneth S. McClintock.
Surviving are a son, Glenn E. of Ickesburg; two sisters, Bernice Weaver and Grace Zimmerman, both of St. Thomas; three half-sisters, Kathy Gutshall of Chambersburg, Pam Gutshall of Shippensburg and Theresa Keefer of St. Thomas; and two grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 4 in her church with the Rev. Larry J. Bidwell officiating. Burial was in Young's United Methodist Church Cemetery, Shermans Dale.
Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, handled arrangements.

Chester L. McCullough, 81, of Chandra Drive, Duncannon, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000 in Stonebridge Health & Rehabilitation Center.
He was a retired clergyman with the United Methodist Church; an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II; and a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Dauphin.
Surviving are his wife, Elsie M. of York; four sons, the Rev. David P. and Michael L., both of York, the Rev. Gary L. of Harrisburg and Chester C. of Columbia; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 8 in the Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home. Burial was in Grantville Cemetery.

Harvey J. "Jumbo" McGowan, 71, of Thompsontown RR 1 died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000 at home.
He was born April 29, 1929 in Juniata County.
He retired from Stanley Springs, Harrisburg; attended Grace Covenant Church, Center; was a member of Millerstown Moose Lodge 925; and a social member of Newport American Legion Post 177.
Surviving are his wife, Patty McGowan; a son, Kenneth G. of Mifflin; a daughter, Anna Jane (Mrs. Terry) Beachel of Thompsontown; his mother, Helen McGowan Campbell of Lewisberry; four stepsons, Harry and Ralph Rice, both of Thompsontown, Robert Rice of Millerstown and Paul Rice of McAlisterville; five stepdaughters, Bessie Speece of Mifflintown, Pat Maneval and Helen Smith, both of Thompsontown, Jean De Marco of Port Royal and Shirley Hargett of Mifflin; two brothers, Robert of Harrisburg and Clarence of Thompsontown; four sisters, Grace Keister of Harrisburg, Shirley Gotwalt of Lewisberry, Anna Leigh of Loysville and Jane Miller of Port Royal; two grandchildren, Terry Beachel Jr. of Thompsontown and Katina Kratzer of Selinsgrove; and several step-grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 23 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with the Rev. Glen Peachey. Burial was in Wrights Church Cemetery, Millerstown.

Courtni D. Meiser, 17, of Thompsontown RR 1 died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000 from injuries suffered in an auto accident.
She was born Jan. 27, 1982.
She was a senior at Greenwood High School, Millerstown, where she was president of the FFA and was awarded the Keystone Degree at this year's Farm Show, a member of Peer Assisted Learning and the Business Club; attended Turkey Valley United Methodist Church, Millerstown RR 2; worked at Arby's Restaurant, Duncannon, and previously at Lost Creek Golf Club Snack Bar, Oakland Mills, and Hersheypark; and enjoyed swimming and country music.
Surviving are her parents, Harry L. and Melinda J. Walters Meiser; a brother, Michael L. of Charles County, Md.; a sister, Amber Meiser of Thompsontown RR 1; her paternal grandparents, George and Althea Meiser of McAlisterville RR 1; her maternal grandparents, Clyde and Shirley Barth of Calabash, N.C., and Robert and Maryls Walters of Beavertown.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Jan. 20, at Turkey Valley Church with pastor Salvatore E. Buonocore officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville.
Viewing will be from 4 to 9 p.m., Jan. 19, in Sheaffer Funeral Home, McAlisterville.

Lewis Edward "Louie" Meiser Sr., 89, of Mt. Pleasant Mills, died Sunday, January 30, 2000 in Penn Lutheran Village Nursing Home, Selinsgrove.
He was born in Greenwood Twp., Juniata County, on April 28, 1910, to the late Luke E. and Effie (Cox) Meiser.
He was married to P. Regina Bassler on Oct. 20, 1934, who preceded him in death on Aug. 21, 1979. He then married the former Lillian B. Stroup on Dec. 8, 1986, who survives.
He was educated in the Juniata County schools; was a farmer; first in the Mifflintown area and later at Mt. Pleasant Mills RR 2, until he retired in 1972. He then worked for the former Newman Fruit Farm, then Whispering Springs Farm, now Whispering Pines at Mt. Pleasant Mills RR 2.
He was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Mt. Pleasant Mills and the Fremont volunteer Fire Company, Mt. Pleasant Mills; and the Richfield Ambulance League.
He enjoyed working outdoors and was a skilled woodworker.
In addition to his wife; he is survived by four sons, Lewis E. Jr. of Mt. Pleasant Mills RR 2, Robert L. of Mt. Pleasant Mills RR 1, David G. of Middleburg RR 4 and Glenn E. of Middleburg; twin daughters, Arlene M. Loss of Middleburg RR 1 and Marlene K. Hackenberg of Kreamer; one brother, George F. of McAlisterville; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one brother, George F. of McAlisterville.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren; one great-grandchild at birth; two brothers, Dewey in childhood and Paul Meiser; one sister, Lenora Frymoyer; and one great-niece, Courtney Meiser on Jan. 15, 2000.
Services were held Feb. 3 in his church with the Rev. Jack E. Landis officiating. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant Mills.
Arrangements were handled by the George P. Garman Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant Mills.

Mary S. Messner, 88, of Loysville RR 2, formerly of Lykens, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000 in Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.
She was born Aug. 12, 1911 at Lykens to the late John and Hattie (Miller) Fetterhoff.
She retired from Lebro Manufacturing Co., and enjoyed playing the piano and had been an accompanist for Les Brown before he established his Band of Renown.
She was the widow of William L. Messner, who died Oct. 20, 1955.
Surviving are two sons, William J. of Mechanicsville, Va., and James L. of Mechanicsburg; a daughter, Catherine E. Markel of Loysville; a stepbrother, Ted C. of New Bloomfield; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert.
Services were held Feb. 25 in Shultz Funeral Home, Lykens, with the Rev. David M. Brungard officiating. Burial was in Calvary United Methodist Cemetery, Wiconisco.

Oleta M. Meyers, 94, formerly of Newport, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000 in Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.
She was born April 4, 1906 in Newport to the late George and Carrie (Mitchell) Hombach.
She retired as a designer from a Vermont hosiery manufacturing company; was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Newport Garden Club; and enjoyed flowers, crocheting and knitting.
She was the widow of John Weaver and Richard Meyers.
Surviving are two sisters, Ardella Brubaker and Virginia Baker, both of Newport.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Violet Rice.
Services were held Dec. 18 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with the Revs. Irene Friberg-Dussaq and Jay Eickhoff officiating. Burial was in Newport Cemetery.
