Lee Edwin Shearer, 82, formerly of Carlisle, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000 at his home in Naples, Fla.
He was born in Carlisle to the late John and Grace (Martin) Shearer.
He was owner of Shearer Brothers Welding, Carlisle; an Army veteran of World War II; and a life member of the VFW, White Circle Lodge, Fraternal Order of Eagle 1299 and South Mountain American Legion 674.
Surviving are his wife, Esther Dick Shearer; a daughter, Ann Lee Thomas of Cheyenne, Wyo.; two stepdaughters, Shirley Adams Cline of Carlisle and Esther Adams Swigert of Naples, Fla.; four sisters, Ruth Deitch of Mechanicsburg, Evelyn Swigert of Naples, Fla., and Martha Belcher and June Martin, both of Carlisle; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary McCoy, and a brother, Roy "Bill" Shearer, both of Carlisle.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 5, in Youngs United Methodist Church Cemetery, Shermans Dale.
Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, Carlisle, is handling arrangements.

David G.F. Sheibley, 81, of Huntersville, W.Va., died Monday, Aug. 14 at Allegheny Regional Hospital, Low Moor, Va.
He was born Feb. 7, 1919 at Newport to the late George and Mae (Freeland) Sheibley.
He had worked for Pocahontas County Board of Education, W.Va.; a former supervisor of rubber plantings for Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. in Liberia, Africa; was co-owner of the Wildwood Tree Farm in Huntersville; an Army veteran of World War II; a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Marlinton, W.Va., Newport VFW Post 34, Newport American Legion Post 177, Alpha Gamma Rho and Alpha Zeta, and the Pocahontas County Association of Retired School Employees; and a life member of the 94th Infantry Division Association and The Perry Historians.
He was survived by a niece, Cynthia Ann Ludwig of Coatesville; a nephew, David Ludwig of Newport; and a business partner, Harry Hock.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Verna Ludwig.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 30, in Newport Cemetery.
Myers Funeral Home, Newport, is handling arrangements.

Virginia Ann Sheibley, 61, of Green Ridge Village, Newville, formerly of Landisburg, died Friday, March 10, 2000 in Carlisle Hospital.
She was born Sept. 25, 1938 to the late Scott Stewart and Erma M (Rice) Sheibley.
She was a member of Mount Zion Lutheran Church, Landisburg RR 1; a cat fancier; and enjoyed growing flowers.
Surviving are aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services were held March 14 in her church with the Rev. Donald L. March officiating. Burial was in the church Cemetery.

Brenda L. Sheltron, 38, of East Waterford died Friday, March 17, 2000 at home.
She was born June 13, 1961 in Lewistown to Norman B. and Anita Richardson Thatcher of East Waterford.
She was active in the deaf community and interpreted for numerous organizations and functions including Mexico United Methodist Church and Mount Union Elementary School; was a 1979 graduate of Juniata High School, Mifflintown; was a member of Pennsylvania Association of Registered Interpreters for the Deaf; and a former member of the advisory board for the Center for Independent Living, Camp Hill.
In addition to her parents, surviving are her husband, David E. Shetron; two sons, David A. and Jason K., both at home; her maternal grandmother, Nellie Fogleman of East Waterford; and a sister, Gloria Ann Thatcher of Middletown.
She was preceded in death by two infant children, John C. Thatcher and Diana Erin Shetron, and a sister, Carolyn Sue Thatcher.
Services were held March 20 in South Juniata Baptist Church, Honey Grove RR 1, with pastor Dennis R. Thompson Jr. officiating. Burial was in East Waterford Cemetery.

Roland E. Shotsberger, 71, of Millerstown RR 1 died Monday, March 20, 2000 in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
He was born May 1, 1928 in Millerstown to the late John S. and Charlotte (Paden) Shotsberger.
He was owner of the former Variety Discount Store, Newport, and enjoyed playing music and hunting.
He was the widower of Treva I. Shotsberger.
Surviving are a son, Clint R. of Millerstown, and two brothers, Clyde E. of Carlisle and Harold R. of Millerstown.
Services were held March 23 in Donnally Mills United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Behrens officiating. Burial was in Eshcol Cemetery.

John Richard Showers, 68, of Millerstown died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000 in Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg.
He was born Aug. 27, 1932 in Millerstown to the late John S. and Grace (Siemanski) Showers.
He was employed by Sprint at Newport and Carlisle for 41 years as a lineman, installer, repairman, member of the testing board and in facility layout until his retirement in 1994; a 1950 graduate of Greenwood High School, Millerstown; delivered Meals on Wheels; a member of Millerstown United Methodist Church and its church choir, Zembo Temple, Zembo Chanters, Zembo Luncheon Club, Scottish Rite Consistory and the consistory choir, Perry-Juniata Shrine Club, Newport Royal Arch Chapter 238 and Millerstown Fire Company and Ambulance League; a member and past master of Newport Lodge 381, F&AM; and enjoyed golf, woodworking, music and attending his grandchildren's activities.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Mildred J. Simonton Showers; a son, Richard A. of Red Lion; two daughters, Sue Magill and Sandy Spade, and a brother, Ronald, all of Millerstown; and seven grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 23 in Sheaffer Funeral Home, Millerstown, with pastor Katherine A. Behrens officiating. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery, Millerstown.

Eugene C. Shuman, 88, of N. Market Street, Millerstown, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2000 in Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.
He was a former machinist for Conrail; a graduate of Millerstown High School; an Army veteran of World War II; and a member of the Presbyterian Church of Perry Valley, Millerstown Fire Company, VFW Post 5049 and Moose Lodge 925.
Surviving are his wife, Bernice L. Roe Shuman, and several nieces and nephews.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.
Services and burial were private.
Cremation Society of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, handled arrangements.

Effie V. Shupp, 54, of Sunnycrest Drive, Susquehanna Twp., Dauphin County, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000 at home.
She was born Nov. 15, 1946 in Wheatfield Twp. to the late John H. and Emma (Myers) Mutzabaugh.
She was an employee of The Veterans of Foreign Wars Headquarters, Harrisburg, and attended Duncannon Assembly of God Church.
She was the widow of Earl A. "Buddy" Shupp Jr.
Surviving are two daughters, Christal L. Smith and Vicky A. Myers, both of Harrisburg; three brothers, Verner F. Mutzabaugh, Forrest G. Mutzabaugh and Kenneth D. Mutzabaugh, all of Duncannon; four sisters, Myrtle M. Smith and Virginia J. Vinette, both of Duncannon, Geraldine J. McCrone of Harrisburg and Annie V. Busfield of Newport; and two granddaughters and a grandson.
She was preceded in death by two brothers John L. and Carmel V. Mutzabaugh, and a sister, Carol Ann Mutzabaugh.
Services were held Jan. 4 in Boyer Funeral Home, Duncannon, with the Rev. Dale Rosenberger officiating. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery, Miller Twp.
