Edward Mann Jones, 69, of Silver Spring Twp. died Monday, May 21, 2001 at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
He was born Sept. 5, 1931 in Mechanicsburg to the late Williams S. and Elizabeth (Rife) Jones.
He was owner/operator of Ed's Quality Cars, Carlisle, and formerly was employed by TRW and AMP, Inc.; and a member of Young's United Methodist Church, Mechanicsburg, Antique Auto Club of America, Gettysburg Region, Pennsylvania Dutch Chapter of the Hudson Club of America, Williams Grove Historical Steam Engine Association and the Model A Restorers Club.
Surviving are his wife, Glenda M. Jones; three sons, Edward M. Jr. of Mechanicsburg, Jay Eugene of Duncannon and Steven Frank of Shermans Dale; four daughters, Mary Kay DeBoard of Dillsburg, Pamela Sue Fleegal of New Bloomfield, and Brenda May Tripp and Tina E. Schimmer, both of Mechanicsburg; a brother, William M. of Carlisle; a sister, Helen V. Vogelsong of Mechanicsburg; his mother-in-law, Mildred Walters of Carlisle; 20 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were held May 25 at his church with the Rev. Ronald C. Hoffman officiating. Burial was in Longsdorf Cemetery, New Kingstown.
Myers Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg, handled arrangements.

Thomas P. Owens, 78, of Blain RR 1 died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001 in Carlisle Hospital.
He was born March 6, 1922 in Chester to the late James L. and Sarah (Forrester) Owens.
He retired from the Sun Shipyards, Chester; was an Army veteran of World War II; and a member of New Bloomfield VFW Post 7463, Dry Run American Legion Post 232, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 49 and the Blain Ambulance Club.
He was the widower of Ruth H. Shanafelter Owens, who died Feb. 15, 1993.
Surviving are a brother and two sisters.
He was preceded in death by a stepson, Billy Kane, who died in 1958.
A graveside service, with military honors, was held Jan. 27 in Blain Cemetery.
Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, handled arrangements.
George R. Park of Marysville died Thursday, April 19, 2001 at home.
He had been an electronics designer for Trafcon Industries, Mechanicsburg, and was a member of Marysville Moose Lodge 107.
Surviving are two sons, George R. Jr., and Jonathan D. of Marysville; and a sister, Nancy J.
A memorial service was held May 3 in Appalachian Brewing Co., Harrisburg.
Cremation Society of Pennsylvania, Colonial Park, handled arrangements.
Ruth Irene Peters, 83, of the Wyndam Lakes nursing home, Jacksonville, Fla., formerly of Duncannon, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001 in the home.
She was born Nov. 18, 1917 in Duncannon to the late Curtis F. and Julia E. (Lowe) Maxwell.
She retired from the Pennsylvania Bureau of Motor Vehicles and was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Duncannon.
She was the widow of James R. Peters.
Surviving are two sons, Alvin E. of Duncannon and James C. of Jacksonville; a brother, Carl R. Maxwell of Duncannon; three sisters, Alice King and Mary Ellen Kelly, both of Dauphin, and Florence Dietz of Duncannon; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Eleanora Auxt and Sara Blain.
Services were held Jan. 15 in her church with the Rev. David Willard officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Duncannon.

Joseph M. Phillips Jr., 77, of Fox Hollow Road, Shermans Dale, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001 in Carlisle Hospital.
He was born March 3, 1923 in Carthage, Moore County, N.C., to the late Joseph M. Sr. and Marion (Gray) Phillips.
He retired from Mutual Life Insurance Co. and Kinney Shoe Corp.; was a Navy veteran of World War II; and attended Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Flora Fortney Phillips of Shermans Dale; a son, Joseph M. III of Gambrills, Md.; a daughter, Laura Lynn Varga of Riva, Md.; two sisters, Florence Hewitt of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Emma Paschal of Punta Gorda, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 30 in Fair Promise United Methodist Church, Glendon, N.C. Burial was in the church Cemetery.

Violet E. Pontius, 74, of S. Carlisle Street, New Bloomfield, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001 in Hershey Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 19, 1926 in Richfield to the late Emory J. and Iva M. Brown.
She had been employed at Olmsted Air Force Base during World War II, manufacturing airplane parts; and was a member of New Bloomfield United Methodist Church and the Ickesburg Quilters.
She was the widow of Palmer C. Pontius.
Surviving are a son, Douglas C. of Keedysville, Md.; a daughter, Carol V. of New Bloomfield; a brother, Harold Brown of Rockville, Md.; two sisters, Virginia Hockenbroch of Liverpool and Lois Graybill of Mifflintown; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Steven D.
Services were held Jan. 18 in her church with the Rev. Donald Raffensperger officiating. Burial was in Bloomfield Cemetery.

Marie L. Smith, 92, of Bethany Village, Mechanicsburg, died Tuesday, May 22, 2001 in the village.
She was born Dec. 6, 1908 in New Germantown to the late Vernon and Gertrude (Smith) Snyder.
She retired as a teacher from the South Middleton School District; was a graduate of Blain High School and the former Pennsylvania State College; and a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Carlisle, and the Cumberland County Retired Teachers Association.
She was the widow of George W. Smith.
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth G. of Mechanicsburg and Fred W. of Rochester, N.Y.; a brother, R. Gene of Blain; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Smith.
Services were held May 29 in Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, Carlisle, with the Rev. Eric J. Shafer officiating. Burial was in Blain Cemetery.

Martha "Marty" Smith, 67, of Manchester died Friday, April 20, 2001 at home.
She was a waitress at various restaurants.
Surviving are her husband, Wilmer Smith of Manchester; a son James Williams of Manchester; a stepson, Dutch Smith of Georgia; and a stepdaughter, Judy Diehl of Shermans Dale.
Services were held April 23 in Dover.
Diehl's Funeral Home handled arrangements.
