J. Harold Stydinger, 74, of Millerstown RR 1 died Friday, June 5, 1998 in Community General Hospital, Harrisburg.
He was born March 9, 1924 in Juniata County to the late Jacob Frank and Esther (Reisinger) Stydinger.
He retired from Stydinger Excavating and was a member of Wila United Methodist Church.
He was the widower of Mary J. Kinzer Stydinger. Surviving are a son, Dale A., and two daughters, Denise A. Comp and Donna L. Gantt, all of Millerstown RR 1; a brother, Walter of Elliottsburg RR 1; three sisters, Virginia Harris of New Bloomfield, Bessie McGill of Millerstown RR 1 and Pearl Hoffert of Reading; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Doug L. Stydinger.
Services were held June 8 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with the Rev. Aden Wertz officiating. Burial was in Wila Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Capital Region Unit, 1500 N. Second St., Harrisburg 17102.
Judith M. Stanton, 72, of Duncannon formerly of Fairview Drive, Selinsgrove, died Sunday, March 1, 1998 in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and a graduate of a Swiss high school. She was a native of Lausanne, Switzerland
She was the widow of Dr. Raymond J. Stanton. Surviving are a daughter, Dr. B. Cynthia Stanton-Gunderman of Duncannon, with whom she lived; a son, Dr. R. Terrance III of Liverpool; a sister, Janowna Flach of Basel, Switzerland; and a grandson.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated March 6 in her church. Burial was in Arlington National Cemetery.
Seebold Funeral Home, Selinsgrove, handled arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to a unit of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or to any charity.
Leo E. Sledzinski, 76, of Elliottsburg RR 2 died Friday, Oct. 23, 1998 in Carlisle Hospital.
He was born Nov. 27, 1921 in Hawley, Wayne County, to the late Michael C. and Tillie (Klompos) Sledzinski.
He was retired from the former Fruehauf Inc. of Middletown; a farmer; a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, New Bloomfield, and VFW Post 7463, New Bloomfield.
Surviving are three brothers, Kosteck of Lake Ariel, John of Shermans Dale and Vincent of Elliottsburg; a sister, Ann Miller of Waco, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Oct. 28 in his church with the Rev. Robert Sharman officiating. Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Carlisle.
Boyer Funeral Home, New Bloomfield, handled arrangements.
Mark W. Shindel, 77, of Newport RR 2 died Monday, Sept. 7, 1998 in Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg.
He was born Jan. 20, 1921 in Annville to the late Clark E. and Sallie (Deininger) Shindel.
He was retired from HERCO; a self-employed electrician; an Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict; and a member of Newport Assembly of God and Newport VFW Post 34.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy M. Brodish-Shindel; two sons, Richard of Vermont and Scott of Wyomissing Hills; a daughter, Tina Ford of Mt. Gretna; two stepsons, Adrian Brodish of Williamsport and Daren Brodish of Thompsontown; two stepdaughters, Salyn Stover of Mechanicsburg and Dea Story of Idaho; three brothers, Robert of Annville, Earnest of Palmyra and George of Lebanon; two sisters, Ruth Waltermyer and Mary Cutman, both of Lebanon; and a granddaughter.
Services were held Sept. 10 in his church with the Rev. Gary Bellis officiating. Burial, with military honors, was in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

Neil E Shope, 78, of Pisgah State Road, Shermans Dale, died Monday, March 9, 1998 in Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.
He was born Dec. 23, 1919 in Kistler to the late John E. and Ethel (Stroup) Shope.
He was a self-employed carpenter and heavy-equipment operator; a graduate of the former Ickesburg High School and Goetz Welding School; an Army veteran of World War II; and a member of Shermans Dale United Methodist Church, Shermans Dale Fire Company and New Bloomfield VFW Post 7463.
Surviving are his wife, Helen Towsey Shope; four sons, Larry, Dennis, Fred and Andrew, all of Shermans Dale; three daughters, Jean Kirk and Jill Kline, both of Shermans Dale, and Nancy Shope of Westland, Mich.; two half-sisters, Donna Deck of Pleasant Gap and Carole Dunkle of Camp Hill; 19 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 12 in Boyer Funeral Home, New Bloomfield, with the Rev. Paul Murphy officiating. Burial was in Young's United Methodist Cemetery with military honors

Pearl K. Eutzy Spitler, 98, of Kinkora Pythian Home, Duncannon, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998 in the home.
She was a member of the Susquehanna Region Antique Car Club of America and the Lawn Fire Company Auxiliary.
She was the widow of Benjamin F. Spitler. Surviving are nieces and nephews.
Services were held Jan. 19 in Fackler-Wiedeman Funeral Home, Harrisburg. Burial was in Hummelstown Cemetery.
Paul L. Stouffer, 78, of Pisgah Road, Shermans Dale, Spring Twp., died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998 in Carlisle Hospital.
He was born April 4, 1920 in Perry County.
He was a retired employee of C. H. Masland and Sons, Carlisle, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1299, Carlisle.
Surviving are one son, Paul S. Reich, at home; two half-sisters, Susan M. Roberts of Cumberland, Md., and Ellamae Bloser of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; and one half-brother, William J. Brownawell of Newville.
He was preceded in death by three half-sisters, Betty J. Brownawell, Beatrice R. Murphy and Esther E. Watson.
Services were held Aug. 15 in Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, Carlisle, with the Rev. Howard A. Kerstetter officiating.
Burial was in Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery, Carroll Twp.
Paul Schriver Smith, 85, of Fairview Ave., Naugatuck, Conn., formerly of Green Valley, Ariz., died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998, at Glendale Health Center after a long illness.
He was born July 6, 1913, in Loysville to the late Corrington Thomas and Bessie (Schriver) Smith.
He was a Green Valley, Ariz. resident for 20 years, moving to Naugatuck one year ago. He previously lived in Minnesota, California, Pennsylvania and Connecticut.
He was a graduate of Rider College and was a retired sales manager from the Central Connecticut Farmers Co-op.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Normandy, Northern France and the European Theatre. He was in charge of several prisoner of war camps in Belgium and France and was discharged with the rank of major. After retiring, he worked with his wife at Yellowstone National Park during the summers for 11 years.
He was the widower of Vera DuVal Smith.
Surviving are two daughters, Marianne Smith McSherry of Naugatuck and Diana Hallisey of West Yarmouth, Mass.; and a grandson, Christopher Hallisey of Andover.

Ruth Elizabeth Swartz, 70, of Richfield RR 2 died Sunday, Jan. 11, 1998 at home.
She was born Nov. 20, 1927 in Susquehanna Twp., Juniata County, to the late Morris F. Sr. and Jennie (Forry) Kerstetter.
She graduated from Millerstown High School in 1946. She was a former employee of the governor's personnel division in Harrisburg and Juniata County School District at Susquehanna Elementary School, and was a homemaker.
She was a member of Richfield United Methodist Church, Richfield Ambulance League and Richfield Fire Company.
She was the widow of Amos A. Swartz, who died Aug. 28, 1991. Surviving are four brothers, Morris F. Kerstetter Jr. of Richfield RR 2, Bernard T. Kerstetter of McAlisterville RR 1, Glenn E. Kerstetter of Millerstown RR 2 and Ralph M. Kerstetter of Mt. Pleasant Mills RR 2; and nieces and nephews.
Services were held Jan. 14 at Garman Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant Mills, with the Rev. Stewart F. Bingman officiating. Burial was in Dressler's Ridge Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant Mills RR 2.
