Helen Athena Morrison, 92, of Old Mill Road, Shermans Dale died Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999 in Carlisle Hospital.
She was born June 3, 1907 in Shermans Dale to the late William Grant and Ida Mary (Lackey) Adams.
She was a lifelong member of Young's United Methodist Church, Shermans Dale, and a member of the Shermans Dale Fire Company Auxiliary.
She was the widow of J. Warren Morrison, who died Jan. 9, 1976.
Surviving are a son, Harold W., with whom she lived; one granddaughter, Helen L. Latchford of Shermans Dale; and two great-grandchildren, Jennifer Latchford of North Field, N.J., and Troy Latchford of Shermans Dale.
Services were held Nov. 20 in Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, with the Rev. Bruce Woolever officiating. Burial was in her church's Cemetery.

Helen M. Machamer, 79, of Spring Road, Shermans Dale, died Friday, Aug. 6, 1999 in Holy Spirit Hospital.
She retired as a bookkeeper for Appliance Buyer Credit Corp., and loved animals.
Surviving are her husband, Clarence Machamer; a son, Richard K. Holtzin of Prescott, Ariz.; a daughter, Linda C. Acri of Harrisburg; a brother, Wayne Alleman of Pine Hills, N.J., four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Aug. 10 in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Hetrick Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Jean Colton Mitchel, 70, of Elliottsburg RR 1 died Sunday, April 18, 1999 at home.
She was born Nov. 4, 1928 in Upper Darby, Delaware County, to the late Nelson and Anna (Muth) Fallin.
She was born to Quaker parents and was a Christian; an artist; a 1946 graduate of Lansdowne High School and attended Moore Art Institute; a member of the Chester County Art Association and DAR; and a former employee of Wyeth Laboratories in West Chester.
Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Vance M. Mitchel; three daughters, Kathryn "Kitty" McCluskey of Elliottsburg, Judith Cleaver of Newark, Del., and Ann Wysocki of Newport; a sister, Mary Porter of New Jersey; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services were held April 22 in Boyer Funeral Home, New Bloomfield, with the Revs. Karen Easterly and James Gold officiating. Burial was in Bloomfield Cemetery.

John F. Miller, 75, of Sixth Street, Newport, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999 in Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg.
He was born Feb. 15, 1924 in Liverpool to Esther (Lower) Miller of Duncannon and the late Albert S. Miller.
He was a former employee of the Navy Ships Parts Control Center, Mechanicsburg, and last worked for the consulting firm of Booz-Allen and Hamilton in Harrisburg; attended Liverpool High School; an Army veteran of World War II; and a member of Lost Creek Presbyterian Church, McAlisterville, F&AM Lodge 381, Newport, and the Harrisburg Con-sistory.
In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife of 52 years, Ruth Lowe Miller; one son, Stephen J. of Newport; six brothers, Fred of Marysville, Ronald, Richard and Gerald, all of Liverpool, Lewis of Millerstown and Dennis of Palmyra; four sisters, Sarah Reinard, Dorothy Leach and Floranna Leach, all of Port Trevorton, and Nancy Willard of Liverpool.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Barry, and two sisters, Geraldine Lower and Marilyn Schrader.
Services were held Nov. 6 in Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool, with the Rev. Graham C. Fowler officiating. Burial was in Bucks United Methodist Cemetery, Newport RR 1.

George F. Mather, 86, of the Brethren Village, formerly of W. Gramby Street, Manheim, died Saturday, May 8, 1999 in Lancaster General Hospital.
He was born in Perry County to the late Asa F. and Roxanna (Powell) Mather.
He worked for 38 years in the setup department at the former Raymark Industries, Manheim, retiring in 1974; was a part-time farmer; a member of East Fairview Church of the Brethren, Manheim; and enjoyed chair caning and Manheim Central sports.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Sarah Martin Mather; three daughters, Alberta M. Gable of Lancaster, Violet M. Geib of Manheim and Dorothy M. Diehl of Alexandria, N.H.; a son, James A. of Lititz; one brother, James of Millerstown; one sister, Maybelle Ross of Millerstown; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held May 12 in his church with pastors Jimm A. Roland, Wilbur G. Lehman and Levi J. Ziegler officiating. Burial was in the church Cemetery.
Buch Funeral Home, Manheim, handled arrangements.

James O. Miller Sr., 65, of Millerstown RR 1 died Thursday, July 29, 1999 at home.
He was born Feb. 22, 1934 in Harrisburg to the late Laverne A. and Rebecca (Palm) Miller.
He was retired from Big A Auto Parts; a former employee of Kayser and Alleman of Harrisburg; a former member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church of Penbrook and Penbrook VFW; a member of St. Bernard Roman Catholic Church of New Bloomfield, Penbrook Fire Company, Millerstown Moose 925; and enjoyed hunting, fishing and country music.
Surviving are his wife, Donna Bastardi Miller; a son, James O. Jr. of Penbrook; three daughters, Donna Conrad, Tammy Hoover and Kim Watts, all of Mechanicsburg; a brother, Larry L. of Landisburg; a sister, Jean L. Lucero of Steelton; six grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Aug. 2 in his church with Father Robert Sharman officiating. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery, Millerstown.

Kenneth B. "Ken" Matter, 56, of Millerstown RR 2 died Saturday, May 8, 1999 at home.
He was born May 11, 1942 in Loganton to the late Wilbur and Armina (Stamm) Matter.
He had been employed as a truck driver by Hempt Brothers Inc., Camp Hill, for 30 years, Juniata Concrete Company and at Fenner Trucking Inc., Mifflintown; a 1960 graduate of Hershey High School; served in the Army during the Viet Nam era; member of Turkey Valley United Methodist Church, Millerstown RR 2, where he taught Sunday school and was a "Promise Keeper,"American Legion Post 364, Liverpool, Greenwood Grange, Millerstown RR 2, and Liverpool Ambulance League; and enjoyed hunting, working on cars and rebuilding John Deere tractors.
Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Donna; one son, Matthew W. Matter, at home; two daughters, Melissa S. Matter, at home, and Melanie L. Brown of Richfield RR 1; three brothers, Warren of Liverpool, Boyd of Millerstown RR 2 and Robert of Halifax; one sister, Alice Miller of Liverpool; and one granddaughter, Lily Morgan Brown.
Services will be held Thursday, May 13 at 11 a.m. at his church with the Rev. Salvatore Buonocore officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in Bethlehem Cemetery, Millerstown RR 2.
Viewing will be from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, at his church, and from 10 a.m. to the time of the service, Thursday.

Kenneth R. Myers, 86, formerly of Millerstown, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999 in the Church of God Home, Carlisle.
He was born June 19, 1913 in Centre Twp. to the late John F. and Esther (Rudy) Myers.
He was a retired postmaster; managed several A&P grocery stores including ones in Newport and Millerstown; an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 88th Infantry in Italy; a charter member of VFW Post 5049; a member and former deacon of Central Baptist Church, Millerstown RR 1; a life member of F&AM Lodge 319, New Bloomfield; and formerly active in Meals-on-Wheels, Millerstown, Riverview Cemetery Association, Senior Citizens of Millerstown and Perry Human Services.
He was the widower of Margaret Doughton Myers.
Surviving are two sons, K. Duane of Carlisle and David D. of Boca Raton, Fla.; two sisters, Virginia Lesh of Newport and Dora Lawhead of Clearfield; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Services were held Sept. 21 in his church with the Rev. Robert Meyer officiating. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery, Millerstown.

M. Marie Martino, 75, of Nixon Drive, Mechanicsburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999 at home.
She was born March 7, 1923 at Lancaster General Hospital and was a native of Blain. She was the only child of the late George W. and Lottie (Gutshall) Arnold.
She retired from Book of the Month Club, Mechanicsburg; was a member of the First Church of God; and enjoyed dancing, crossword puzzles and travel.
She was the widow of George D. Martino.
Surviving are a companion, William Mumper; three daughters, Connie L. Bishop of Landisburg, Marcia A. Peasley of Waldorf, Md., and Marlene S. Schlusser of Carlisle; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 23 in Boyer Funeral Home, New Bloomfield.
