J. Elvin Wise, 6, of Blain died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999 of injuries received in a farming accident at home.
He was born May 7, 1993 in Juniata County.
He attended Milltown Mennonite Church of the Weaverland Conference, Landisburg RR 1.
Surviving are his parents, Elvin R. and Nora Zimmerman Wise; three brothers, Jonathan Z., Paul Matthew and Raymond Z., all at home; his paternal grandparents, Edwin K. and Ida W. Rutt Wise of Ephrata; maternal grandfather, Abram Zimmerman of Blain; paternal great-grandparents, Harry N. and Ella B. Weaver Rutt of Ephrata; and maternal great-grandmother, Ella B. Wise of Womelsdorf.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Edna Zimmerman.
Services were held Aug. 19 at his home and at his church with bishop Lester B. Martin and ministers Raymond Zimmerman, Warren Auker and John Wise officiating. Burial was in the church Cemetery.
Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, handled arrangements.
Jacob E. Wertz, 87, of Venice, Fla., died Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999.
He was born Aug. 14, 1912 in Lewistown.
He worked for Singer Sewing Machine Co. of New York for more than 40 years, retiring as general sales manager of its industrial division; was a graduate of Pennsylvania State College; and a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity in Pennsylvania, Venice Gardens Homeowners Association and Grace United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Wertz; a daughter, Diana Borberg of Santa Rosa, Calif.; three sons, Eric Nelson of Brandon, Vt., Donald E. of Bloomington, Ind., and Richard A. of Wickenburg, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 7 in his church. Burial was in the church's Garden of Remembrance, Venice.

James Loren Wright, 89, formerly of Old Ferry Road, Millerstown, died Friday, July 16, 1999 at home.
He was born Sept. 20, 1910 in Greenwood Twp. to the late Loren and Ellie (Sarver) Wright.
He was a retired farmer; a lifelong member of the Perry Valley Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and a trustee; past president of Wrights Church Cemetery Association; a member of Millerstown Fire Company and Ambulance League, and the Perry Valley Grange; and enjoyed playing cards and gardening.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Rumberger Wright, with whom he would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on July 19; a son, James II of Millerstown; two daughters, Joyce Fickes of Hershey and Lorraine Cameron of Millerstown; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Shuman Wright, and two sisters, Florinda Knouse and Lela Derr.
Services were held July 20 in his church with the Rev. Nancy McClure officiating. Burial was in Wrights Church Cemetery.

Kenneth L. Wileman, 60, of York Springs died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999 at home.
He was born Jan. 7, 1939 in Hunters Run to the late Charles E. Wileman and Bertha Detwiler Wileman Bousquin.
He was an independent owner and truck driver, working for Mercer Transportation of Louisville, Ky.
Surviving are his wife of 20 years, Dorothy Rowe Wileman; two sons, Larry E. of Mt. Pleasant Mills and Richard L. of Loganton; a daughter, Barbara Ann Walton of Millerstown; two stepsons, Jack M. Barnhart Jr. of Mechanicsburg and Rick A. Barnhart of Wellsville; two stepdaughters, Diane A. Foose of Duncannon and Cindy A. McDevitt of Shermans Dale; four brothers, Cloyd E., Barry N. and David L., all of Blain, and Merle F. of Aspers; three sisters, Aileen Bretz of Mt. Holly Springs, Phyllis Albright and Mary Neal, both of Gardners; 16 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Services were held Aug. 14 in Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, Carlisle, with the Rev. J. Kenneth Barner officiating. Entombment was in Rolling Green Memorial Park Mausoleum, Camp Hill.

Kathleen M. Williams, 34, of Glutzhole Road, Duncannon, died Friday, March 5, 1999 at Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg.
She was born Nov. 11, 1964 in East Pennsboro Twp., Cumberland County, to Russell and Charlene (Spease) McBride of New Bloomfield.
She was a homemaker; graduate of West Perry High School; and attended Roseglen United Methodist Church, Duncannon.
In addition to her parents, surviving are her husband, Glenn R. Williams; one brother, Aaron K. McBride of New Cumberland; one sister, Eileen C. McBride of New Bloomfield; her maternal grandmother, Marguerite Spease of Enola; her paternal grandmother, Edith McBride of New Bloomfield; and one niece.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Nicole Wood.
Services were held March 10 in her church with the Rev. Randall Goshorn officiating. Burial was in Bloomfield Cemetery.
Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon, handled arrangements.

Lorene E. Williams, 79, of Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield, formerly of Harrisburg, died Monday, Sept. 6, 1999 at Perry Village.
She had been a member of the former Four Square Gospel Church of Rutherford.
She was the widow of David J. Williams Jr.
Surviving are three sons, Bruce of Grantville, Robert of Shermans Dale and Daniel of Etters; a stepson, Arlie of Landisburg; seven daughters, Deanna Culver of Scottsboro, Ala., Linda Lawler of Harvey, Ill., Carolyn Stoner of Newport, Sandra Walters and Theresa Tharp, both of Harrisburg, Janet Smith of Grantville and Wanda Barbaretta of Palmyra; a stepdaughter, Joyce Wood of Grand Chain, Ill.; five brothers; four sisters; 25 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 10 in First Assembly of God of Harrisburg. Burial was in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg.

Martha E. Weigel, 88, of N. Hanover Street, Carlisle, died Monday, May 31, 1999 at Carlisle Hospital.
She was born July 24, 1910 in Perry County to the late Levi and Laura (Smee) Hummel.
She was a member of the Silver Spring Presbyterian Church, Mechanicsburg.
Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Ralph W. Weigel, and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held June 4 in her church with the Rev. Jay F. Walters officiating. Burial was in the church Cemetery.

Melvin G. "John" Witmer Jr., 61, of Duncannon RR 4 died Monday, May 17, 1999 in Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg.
He was born Nov. 16, 1937 in Halifax Twp. to the late Melvin Sr. and Kathryn (Bower) Witmer.
He was a custodian for the Pennsylvania National Guard in Carlisle; a member and past commander, former alternate national executive committeeman and executive committee commander of Carlisle Sons of American Legion Post 101; a member of Carlisle Eagles Aerie 1299; and a life member of the White Circle and Moose Lodge 761, both in Carlisle.
Surviving are a companion, Hazel Warren; five sons, John M. and Richard E., both of Harrisburg, Ronald L. of Newville, and David S. and Michael G., both of Halifax; three daughters, Kathy A. Witmer of Keyes, Calif., and Jacqueline R. Poper and Tina L. Kiner, both of Carlisle; a brother, Howard E. Newman Jr. of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and 10 grandchildren.
Services were held May 21 in Hoover Funeral Home, Millersburg, with the Rev. William H. Myers III officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Duncannon.
Marie M. Watson, 92, a resident of Penn Hall Nursing Center, Chambersburg, and formerly of Shippensburg, died Friday, March 5, 1999 in the center.
She was born Oct. 23, 1906 in Waynesboro to the late David H. and Florence (Grove) Martin.
She was retired from the former Worth's Department Store, Shippensburg, and had worked at clothing factories in Shippensburg; and was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church, Shippensburg.
She was the widow of Beattie Watson, who died Sept. 2, 1980.
Surviving are three grandchildren, Scott D. Dixon of Shippensburg, Gary L. Dixon of Landisburg and Beverly A. Failor of Loysville; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, one granddaughter and one sister.
Services were held March 9 in Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg, with the Revs. Robert R. Yankovitz and Ray M. Geigley officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg.
