George C. Myers, 72, of Sixth Street, Newport, died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000 in Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg.
He was born July 4, 1928 in Mt. Union to the late Wilbur K. and Ethel P. (Grove) Myers.
He was retired from the Army and the Farmers Home Administration and enjoyed woodworking.
Surviving are his wife, Erma Holden Myers, three daughters, Barbara Strawser and Brenda Butler, both of Newport, and Michelle Jochimsen of Clarksville, Tenn.; three sisters, Thelma Folk of Quarrysville, Pearl Lane of Mount Union and Joyce Shumaker of McVeytown; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene J. Henry; two brothers, Carl and Sam; and a sister, Eleanor Lancaster.
Services were held Oct. 2 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with the Rev. John Shenk officiating. Burial was in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Hiram H. "Jack" Miller, 67, of Millerstown RR 3 died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000 in Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg.
He was born March 5, 1933 in Millerstown to the late Charles H. and Gertrude (Zang) Miller.
He retired as owner of Millers' Upholstery and was a former employee of Ray Auto Seat Cover Co., Reuben Yeager and Al Tangy; enjoyed horseback riding and showing horses and won a Western Pennsylvania championship in 1987; and was a member of the Palomino and American Quarter Horse associations.
Surviving are his wife, Martha M. Fox Miller; two sons, Jack E. of Lancaster and Jason E. of Millerstown; four daughters, Carol R. Baker of Duncannon, Holly R. Tarr of Millerstown, Wendy Jo Earnest of Duncannon RR 4 and Emma M. Goodling of New Bloomfield; two brothers, Fred H. of Duncannon and Alfred L. of Marysville; four sisters, Doris Kerstetter of New Bloomfield, Fern Yantz of Duncannon, Susan Slagle of Missouri and Janet L. George of Newport; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held Dec. 27 in Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon, with the Rev. John Shenk officiating. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery, Millerstown.

Harvey J. "Jumbo" McGowan, 71, of Thompsontown RR 1 died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000 at home.
He was born April 29, 1929 in Juniata County.
He retired from Stanley Springs, Harrisburg; attended Grace Covenant Church, Center; was a member of Millerstown Moose Lodge 925; and a social member of Newport American Legion Post 177.
Surviving are his wife, Patty McGowan; a son, Kenneth G. of Mifflin; a daughter, Anna Jane (Mrs. Terry) Beachel of Thompsontown; his mother, Helen McGowan Campbell of Lewisberry; four stepsons, Harry and Ralph Rice, both of Thompsontown, Robert Rice of Millerstown and Paul Rice of McAlisterville; five stepdaughters, Bessie Speece of Mifflintown, Pat Maneval and Helen Smith, both of Thompsontown, Jean De Marco of Port Royal and Shirley Hargett of Mifflin; two brothers, Robert of Harrisburg and Clarence of Thompsontown; four sisters, Grace Keister of Harrisburg, Shirley Gotwalt of Lewisberry, Anna Leigh of Loysville and Jane Miller of Port Royal; two grandchildren, Terry Beachel Jr. of Thompsontown and Katina Kratzer of Selinsgrove; and several stepgrandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 23 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with the Rev. Glen Peachey. Burial was in Wrights Church Cemetery, Millerstown.

H. Ward Malseed, 71, of Lincoln Street, Duncannon, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000 in Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg.
He was born Dec. 13, 1928 in Duncannon to the late Lloyd and Trevilla (Wallower) Malseed.
He retired from Washington National Insurance Co.; was a Navy veteran of the Korean War; a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Duncannon, and Newport VFW, Newport American Legion Post 340, Newport and Millerstown Moose lodges, Newport Order of the Owls and the Duncannon High School Alumni Association; a life member of Duncannon Fire Company; and enjoyed fishing.
He was the widower of Peg Sharar Malseed.
Surviving are four daughters, Susan E. Liddick and Becky L. Malseed, both of Duncannon, Chrissie J. Hill of Wormleysburg and Nancy C. Dennis of Ashburn, Va.; a brother, Robert E. Sr. of Duncannon RR 4; and seven grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 13 in Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon, with Mark Liddick officiating. Burial, with military honors, was in Union Cemetery, Duncannon.

John H. Mutzabaugh, 86, of Paradise Road, Duncannon, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000 in Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg.
He was born March 25, 1914 in Duncannon to the late Verner F. and Myrtle (Booth) Mutzabaugh.
He retired as a mechanic from the former Twin Gables, Camp Hill; was an Army veteran of World War II; a member of VFW Post 255 and American Legion Post 340, both of Duncannon; and enjoyed fishing.
He was the widower of Emma Myers Mutzabaugh.
Surviving are three sons, Verner, Forrest and Kenneth, all of Duncannon; five daughters, Myrtle Smith and Virginia Vinette, both of Duncannon, Effie V. Shupp and Geraldine McCrone, both of Harrisburg; and Annie Busfield of Newport; 26 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, John L. and Carmel, and a daughter, Carol.
Services were held Nov. 26 in Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon, with the Rev. Mervin Potteiger officiating. Burial, with military honors, was in Pine Grove Cemetery, Newport RR 2.

Joseph J. Mazurik, 84, of W. Main St., Hummelstown, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000 at home.
He was born April 24, 1915 in Robertsdale to the late George and Anna (Coar) Mazurik.
He retired from the New Cumberland Army Depot and had been employed by Delaware Lackawanna & Western Railroad, Tobyhanna Army Depot and the former Olmsted Air Force Base, Middletown; a Navy veteran; a professional firefighter and a plumber.
Surviving are his wife of 13 years, Yvonne M. Waggoner Mazurik; two sons, J. Ronald of Cary, N.C., and Richard C. of Camp Hill; a daughter, Dorothy Tebera of Hummelstown; two stepdaughters, Cindy Lesh of Shermans Dale and Laurie Kauffman of Duncannon; a sister, Margaret Neipert of Tobyhanna; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Edith Julian Mazurik, who died April 10, 1985.
Services were private. Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Hummelstown, handled arrangements.

Joann L. Myers, 52, of Pfautz Road, Duncannon, died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000 at home.
She was born March 2, 1948 in Harrisburg to Ralph Rudy of Duncannon and the late Betty (Howell) Rudy.
In addition to her father, surviving are her husband of 37 years, Forrest M. Myers Sr.; a daughter, Tina Hageman of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; her stepmother, Beatrice Rudy of Duncannon; four brothers, Ralph L. Rudy Jr., Charles C. Rudy and Randy E. Rudy, all of Duncannon, and Daryl L. Rudy of Maytown; three sisters, Susan McKelvey and Betty Jane Shaffer, both of Duncannon, and Judy A. Hayman of Bressler; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Forrest M. Myers Jr.
Services were held Sept. 21 in Boyer Funeral Home, Duncannon, with the Rev. Gary Bellis officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Duncannon.
John McCandless, 48, of New Bloomfield RR 3 died Friday, Sept. 29, 2000 in Harrisburg Hospital.
He was a corrections officer at Camp Hill State Correctional Institution.
Surviving are his mother, Lois Carlisle of Pittsburgh, and a friend, Peggi Edmonds of Harrisburg.
Services were held Oct. 3 at Beaufort Hunt Drive, Harrisburg.
Cremation Society of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, handled arrangements.

Jack Morrison, 70, of La Jolla, Calif., formerly of Marysville, drowned Aug. 26 in the swimming pool at his home.
He retired as a professor from the University of San Diego, which named him professor emeritus and the school's first Outstanding Professor of Counseling Education; had been dean of students at the former Lock Haven State College and director of the Center for Research and Educational Media Design at the University of Iowa; a licensed psychologist and a former private counselor in La Jolla; a graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a Ph.D. degree from Northwestern University; and an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Morrison; a daughter, Kathy McCurdy of Camp Verde, Ariz.; a son, Jim of La Jolla; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Aug. 29 in La Jolla. Graveside services were held Sept. 16 in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Marysville.
Shalonis Funeral Home, Marysville, handled local arrangements.
Kenneth E. Moose, 54, of Loysville RR 2 died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000 at home.
He was born Jan. 9, 1946 at Loysville RR 1 to Ruby A. (Harris) Moose of Carlisle and the late Lewis Moose.
He retired as a truck driver from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, New Bloomfield; was employed by Trout Brothers, Blain; had attended Zion United Church of Christ, Blain; and was a member of Blain Ambulance Club.
In addition to his mother, surviving are two sons, Johnny A. of Blain and Gregory D. of Newville; a brother, Gilbert P. "Sam" of Shippensburg; a sister, Nancy J. Comp of Loysville; and a grandson.
Services were held Jan. 29 in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, with the Rev. John S. Kipp officiating. Burial was in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Loysville RR 1.
