John L. Hocker, 79, of Valley Road, Marysville, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998 at home.
He formerly was employed at the John Shull Bakery, Marysville, and at Glen L. Martin in Baltimore, Md., during World War II. He was co-owner of the former Heisley & Hocker tire retreading business, Marysville.
He was a member of the board of directors of the First National Bank of Marysville; a charter member of the Marysville Lions Club and active in the Marysville Lions Carnival for many years; and a member of Perry Lodge 458, F&AM, Marysville, Harrisburg Consistory, Zembo Shrine Temple, Shrine Luncheon Club and Marysville Hunting Club; and was an avid golfer.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred L. Bowman Hocker; one brother, Ralph W. Hocker of Camp Hill; two sisters, Catherine Haines of Port Royal and Dorothy Boyer of California; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Nov. 30 in Shalonis Funeral Home, Marysville. Burial was in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Marysville.

Laura A. Hilbish, 73, of Stine Street, Duncannon, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 1998 in the Renova Center, Lower Allen Twp.
She was born Sept. 16, 1925 to the late Roy E. and Margaret (Van Horn) Lilley.
She retired from the state Revenue Department and was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Duncannon Golden Age Club, Pennsylvania Association of retired State Employees, VFW Auxiliary Unit 255 and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 340.
She was the widow of Clifford L. Hilbish Sr.
Surviving are three sons, Clifford L. Jr. of New Buffalo, and Kenneth R. and Gary W., both of Duncannon; five daughters, Donna M. Pressley of Carlisle, Wendy L. Lukens of New Bloomfield RR 1, Dena R. Walsh of Halifax, and Karen Trevenen and Raye Anne Shatto, both of Duncannon; a sister, Violet Maxwell of Enola; 20 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sunday, Nov. 8 in her church, with the Revs. B. Michael Brossman and Denny Sprow officiating. Burial was in Hill Cemetery, Duncannon RR 4.
Smith Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Nancy R. Hawkins, 62, of Cove Road, Duncannon, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 1998 in Polyclinic Hospital.
She was born March 19, 1936 to the late Charles A. and Mildred V. (Zerbe) Messner.
She was the widow of Stanley O. "Jim" Hawkins Sr.
Surviving are two sons, Stanley Jr. and Richard J., both of Harrisburg; a daughter, Debbie E. Forsythe of Palmyra; two brothers, Paul Messner of Tampa, Fla., and Robert Messner of Millersburg; three sisters, Patty Lahr of Carlisle, Linda Carr of Brunswick, Ga., and Vicki Chronister of Enola; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12 at Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bernard Fortna officiating. Burial will be in Duncannon Cemetery.
Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Quinton D. Haag, 77, formerly of West Lawn, died Monday, Oct. 12, 1998 in Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield, where he had resided since February 1997.
He was born in Sinking Spring to the late Paul and Mariah (Seitzinger) Haag.
He had been employed for 10 years by Graffius Burial Vault Co., Sinking Spring, and was last employed for 41 years as a bus driver by BARTA, retiring in 1985. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Sinking Spring.
He was the widower of Arlene J. (High) Haag and Virginia L. (Gregro) Haag, who died in 1995.
Surviving are two sons, Dennis P. of Loysville and Richard Q. of Reading; two brothers, William and LeRoy, both of Sinking Spring; a sister, Pearl Larson of Wernersville; and four grandchildren. Services were held Oct. 15 in Lamm & Witman Funeral Home, Wernersville. Burial was in Haag's Cemetery, Bernville.
Robert W. Harris, 72, of Enola Road, Carlisle, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998 in Harrisburg Hospital .
He was born Sept. 11, 1926 in Newport to the late Charles R. and Charlotte L. (Clouser) Harris.
He retired from Woolworth Corp., Shiremanstown; was a former employee of Womeldorf Trucking, Lewistown; and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church, Lewistown, Lewistown Lodge 203 F&AM, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Juniata Valley Forest 88, Harrisburg Consistory, Social Order of Owls and American Legion Post 177, both of Newport, and Lewistown and Mechanicsburg Elks; a trustee and member of North Middleton Twp., Volunteer Fire company No. 1; and life member of Yeagerstown Fire Company.
Surviving are his wife, Janet Loper Harris; two sons, Stuart A. of Beaver Springs and Robert C. of Lewistown; two daughters, Joy S. Manolis of Erie and Balerie J. Henry of Mount Joy; a brother, Charles R. Harris of Shermans Dale; a sister, Joanne L. Hendrickson of Linglestown; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Stephen L.

Vera P. Harrison, 97, of the Shook Home for the Aged, Chambersburg, formerly of St. Thomas, died Monday, Nov. 16, 1998 in the home.
She was a teacher at St. Thomas Elementary School and then a special education teacher at James Buchanan.
She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church of St. Thomas, taught Sunday school for 70 years, active in the United Methodist Womens Club and other ministries of the church, and taught Bible Release Time for many years; a member of the first class to graduate from St. Thomas Twp. High School, class of 1919; and attended Shippensburg Normal School for three years.
She was the widow of Norman C. Harrison, who died in 1993. They had been married 70 years.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Rohrbacher of Spencerport, N.Y., and Margie Hege of Chambersburg; one son, Norman C. Jr. of New Bloomfield; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother.
Services were held Nov. 19 in her church with the Rev. Paul Crawford officiating. Burial was in the church Cemetery.
The Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, Chambersburg, handled arrangements.

A. Beatrice Henry, 91, formerly of Wertz Lane, Enola, died Monday, Oct. 5, 1998 in Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Enola.
She was the widow of Melvin E. Henry.
Surviving are two sons, Dale R. of Enola and Glenn L. of Tolland, Conn.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 9 in Sullivan Funeral Home, Enola. Burial was in Stone Church Cemetery, Silver Spring Twp., Cumberland County.

Anna Elizabeth "Betty" Hess, 75, of Lancaster Road, Manheim, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998 in Lancaster General Hospital.
She was born in Rapho Township to the late Andrew L. and Edna (Kreider) Nissley.
She worked for 40 years at the Manheim Auto Auction; worked on the family farm; was a Republican committeewoman for Penn Twp.; a member of Covenant United Methodist Church, Lancaster, and the Lititz Springs chapter 499, Eastern Star; and a former member of the Farm Women Society No. 18.
Surviving are her husband of 56 years, John Henry Hess Sr.; two sons, John Henry Jr. of Manheim and James Douglas of Lebanon RR 6; a daughter, Mary Susan Brubaker of Manheim; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Aug. 15 in Buch Funeral Home, Manheim, with the Rev. Dr. H. David Loughery officiating. Burial was in East Petersburg Mennonite Cemetery.
W.J. "Jim" Fillers Sr., 60, of Newport RR 3 died Thursday, June 11, 1998 in Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg.
He was born Aug. 27, 1937 in Tennessee to William and Mary (Weaver) Fillers.
He was a driver for Preston Trucking Co. and an Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Gertrude Beers Fillers; two daughters, Deborah J. McMillen of Shermans Dale and Della E. Fillers of Newport; a son, W.J. Jr. of Shermans Dale; two sisters, Jay Fillers of Nashville, Tenn., and Mary Hale of Johnson City, Tenn.; two brothers, William of Piney Flats, Tenn., and Bruce of Georgia; and five grandchildren.
Services were held June 14 in Neumyer Funeral Home, Harrisburg. Burial was at the convenience of the family.
